We're gonna start right now.
I'm introducing Graham Hancock.
For those who don't know, Graham Hancock is our last and final speaker for the evening.
We have very limited time in the room.
We're trying to wrap this up as quickly as we can under our deadline, which I now think is going to go to 6.30, I believe.
So we are going to try to push it, but if you could take your seats right away.

I am very proud to welcome Graham Hancock on the stage at Awaken Aware 2011.
It's very exciting for us to have Graham among us.
I interviewed him a couple of years ago here in Los Angeles.
Many of you will have seen my interview with him.
He is a very unusual researcher and very, very famous author of many, many books, some of which I have been reading and I'm just stunned by the level of, really, scholarship.
In terms of ancient monuments and uncovering the hidden archaeology and our hidden history as humanity.
Really, really stunning research.
And Santha, his partner in crime, as it were, has taken some underwater photographs and photographs around the world on his trips, which are absolutely stunning.
And I would love to see an exhibit of all your photographs sometime, Santha.
I hope that I'll be lucky enough to do that.
I was also in South Africa with Graham Hancock and saw him speak there.
I have to say you're in for a treat.
Let me just say that he is one of those rare individuals who can go from the left side of the brain to the right and actually do it with grace and he will kind of take you on that journey Yourself during this wonderful presentation that I'm sure he's about to give.
I'm not going to say too much more although I'd love to talk about him at quite some length.
I will say that he is a fearless journeyer into the area of consciousness and we have not got enough of those kinds of people out there in humanity at this time.
Someone who's willing to put his entire Career on the line in order to investigate and go into the far reaches of consciousness and see what is there and what is to be gained.
Also to go into the feminine, even you might say the divine feminine in ways in which most men fear to tread.
So without further ado, Graham Hancock.
And Bill, do you have something?
Unlike Kerry, I've never met Graham before.
I'm delighted to do so now.
I want to get to know him a little bit later on.
I read Fingerprints of the Gods when it first came out.
It blew me away.
I'm privileged to be with him on stage here.
I never thought that would ever happen.
I'm delighted to have someone whose accent I can understand.

Because it's a bit like an interrogation at the moment.

I would like to start with one minute of silence.
There is so much sadness in the world.
And let's just put ourselves into the places of people less privileged than ourselves.

I'd like to begin with some thank yous.
I have to thank my wife and partner, Santha.
I would have lost my life in every possible way more than 20 years ago if I hadn't met Sanfa.
And none of the good things that have happened to me or my children would ever have happened without this wonderful woman in my life.

There's so much good energy here today.
Okay.
What happens to us when we die?
I suspect that there's nobody in this room who hasn't thought about that at one point or another.
It's the common fate that awaits us all.
But it's a deep mystery.
We don't know what Nobody knows for sure, except this guy who calls himself, well actually he until recently was the professor of the public understanding of science at Oxford University.
Can you imagine a more Orwellian title than that?
This is Richard Dawkins.
He's a very clever man.
He's extremely eloquent.
He has his Oxford professorship.
He's a geneticist.
He wrote The Selfish Gene, that was what he was famous for.
And he absolutely disbelieves in any meaning or purpose in the universe at all.
It's all total random accidents.
We're just meat, and when we die, we're dead, and we don't come back.
Now, I can agree with him that we should live this life to the full, but when a scientist, the professor of the public understanding of science, says that we should live life to the full while we have it because there is nothing after it, I'm sorry, that's not a fact.
That is not science.
What is the evidence that Richard Dawkins is basing that statement on?
Has he died and found nothing and come back to report?
Has he done experiments which justify this statement?
And yet, the effect on the public mentality of a highly educated, eloquent speaker like Dawkins with his Oxford professorship saying that is to convince the public that somehow, you know, just like everything else that science has sorted out, science has sorted out death too, and they've figured out that there's just nothing after it.
It's a perfectly acceptable belief.
As a matter of fact, I would say that this is Richard Dawkins' religion.
He is a man of religion.
He believes in nothing, but it's an intense, passionate belief, which he seeks to evangelize others about at all times.
And he's enormously successful.
He has a huge following, not only in Britain, but throughout the world.
What is this thing called death?
Well, there's a widely used legal definition of death, and that is complete cessation of brain function as evidenced by absence of brainwave activity on an electroencephalogram.
Well, good, but, sorry, we are not our brains.
I think when we ask ourselves, who am I? Fundamentally, we are our consciousness.
And the brain and consciousness may not be quite the same thing.
We know it's involved with consciousness because you can affect and damage consciousness if damage is done to the brain.
We know it's involved in consciousness in some way, but it's not Absolutely clear how the brain is involved with consciousness.
As a matter of fact, if any scientist tells you that they know the answer to that, I'm sorry, they are lying.
It is not true.
They do not know.
Here's one model.
It's pretty much the model of mainstream science.
That the brain makes consciousness the way a factory makes cars.
The brain is a generator of consciousness.
Those who subscribe to this paradigm cannot believe in life after death.
It's impossible for them to do so because the consciousness of the individual is manufactured and generated by the brain in their view.
And therefore, when the brain is dead, consciousness blinks out, and that's the end of the story.
You're just left with meat.
And this is the default view.
Generally, in our society, people assume that the brain generates and makes consciousness.
But there's another point of view, which is actually the point of view of all ancient spiritual traditions.
And that this is...
That the relationship of the brain to consciousness is more like the relationship of a TV signal to a TV set.
So in the factory analogy, if you smash up that factory, well, you're not going to get any more cars coming out of it.
But in the TV analogy, if you take a brick and throw it through your TV screen, which might be a very good thing to do, the TV signal is still going to be there.
The TV signal goes on.
The TV signal is simply manifesting through.
It is being brought through by the receiver.
So is it possible that the brain is a receiver of consciousness?
That's what all ancient traditions say.
They say that we incarnate in these bodies, but we are not these bodies.
These bodies are a place for us to come and experience this reality.
And I think that we need to consider this possibility more and more closely as time goes on.
And just as we're letting go of all kinds of old concepts in physics, we need to let go of this notion that the brain makes consciousness.
Even purely from a Las Vegas point of view, it would be very foolish to go more than 50/50 on the issue of life after death, because truthfully nobody knows.
You know, you might say, well...
Maybe there's some life after death or maybe there's not.
I don't know.
It's a 50-50 shot.
And then, actually, if you take all of the anecdotal and some very interesting scientific evidence, for example, Ian Stevens' work on reincarnation at the University of Virginia, into account, if you take all of that into the account, if you take out-of-body experiences, how can you have an out-of-body experience if your consciousness is being generated by the brain?
Near-death experiences, we have a lot of anecdotal evidence which suggests that actually consciousness does survive death.
So I would take that to 51-49% in Las Vegas.
I think it tips the balance slightly.
In favor of the notion that we do survive death or our consciousness survives death.
And then add to that the testimony of the ancient, ancient religions of our world.
The ancient spiritual traditions which absolutely affirm and attest that we are not our bodies and that there is an immortal part of ourselves that continues on.
And I think that we're getting closer to a reasonable assessment of the problem.
We have to keep our minds open to this possibility, despite all the propaganda that's given to us by our materialistic society.
And at any rate, if we want to know about the mystery of death, the last people we should be talking to are mainstream scientists in our society.
Because they are pygmies.
In the matter of mystery.
They are pygmies in the issue Of the meaning and purpose of life.
That's not what they do.
And they are not fit to judge.
If we want, really, to get to grips with this mystery, we need to go to the masters of that.
To the ancient Egyptians, who put their best minds to work for 3,000 years, considering nothing other than this.
What happens to us when we die?
And how do we prepare for that moment?
And you can see it in the majestic art and architecture of the ancient Egyptians.
And here we see the goddess Isis feeding Ankh immortal life to Pharaoh Seti I. Please do switch the mobile phone off.
Everyone is familiar with the Ankh symbol.
And it's a symbol that is meaningfully found all over Egypt.
The ancient Egyptian notion of reality and our place in the scheme of things is all connected to the idea of Osiris.
And as Richard Hoagland mentioned yesterday, this is work that Robert Boval and I have worked on together for many, many years.
There was a time in the ancient Egyptian tradition called Zep Tepi, the first time.
And with the work that Robert Baval and I have done together, we think, we hope, that we've pinned that down to a window in time.
And that window is around 10,500 BC. I would be most grateful if the mobile phones could be switched off.
It's extremely difficult to maintain my concentration.
It's around 10,500 BC and I'm not going to go into all the details of this but we've done it on the basis of astronomy and there's a very curious situation at the spring equinox in 10,500 BC when the Sphinx gazes at her own celestial counterpart in the sky when Orion lies due south of the pyramids in exactly the same pattern as the pyramids.
And the constellation of Draco and the little bear we see on the northern horizon.
This is the astronomical definition of the first time.
Locke, Osiris, due south.
Locke, Leo, due east.
At the moment, the sun rises and you have the definition of the first time.
And because of this processional wobble on the Earth's axis and of excellent computer software today, we can recreate the ancient skies.
And know exactly how they looked above Egypt at any time in the last 30,000 years.
And this time, 10,500 BC, sings out like a strong voice, pay attention to me.
They are trying to draw our attention to that date.
And it's interesting...
With the story of Osiris who is murdered by his rival Set and his 72 co-conspirators.
The number 72 is always found when precession is involved and his body is hacked into pieces and is reassembled and revivified through the magic power of Isis, his consort.
And there's a very curious thing, a kind of rebirth symbolism involved in this, or a new birth symbolism, because something very odd has happened to the sky in the last 12,500 years, which is half of a precessional cycle.
Back in the spring equinox in 10,500 BC, Orion was at his lowest point in the sky.
And Draco was at its highest point that it ever reaches in the sky in this 26,000 year precessional journey.
Leo was lying due east, this is on the spring equinox, and Aquarius was setting due west below the horizon.
If we jump forward to our time, it's like a clear astronomical message connecting the two times.
If we jump forward to our time, we find that at the spring equinox in 2012, it's Aquarius that's rising in the east because it's not for nothing that it's, we all know the song, we live in the dawning of the age of Aquarius.
Aquarius is moving into the precessional frame.
Leo is setting in the west, exact swap around of Leo and Aquarius.
And Orion is now at his highest point in the sky and Draco at the lowest point in the sky.
There's a beautiful symmetry between these two skies, between the sky of the first time and our sky today.
And for me, it seems to suggest that the wisdom that is connected to this Assyrian tradition is coming back again.
We are coming into a time of return.
Osiris was brought.
His pieces were reassembled by Isis after he'd been murdered and cut to pieces.
And she revivified him.
She brought him temporarily back to physical life.
And she took the form in some of the traditions.
It's a kite.
In others, it's a swallow, a bird.
and she hovered over the phallus of Osiris and received his seed and gave birth to the divine child Horus.
Ever afterwards, the pharaohs of Egypt were the Horus kings.
And when they died, they became Osiris in the sky.
Lest you think that this is simply an empty ritual, please allow me to read for about three minutes from the ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead.
And this is a translation of the ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead done by Normandy Ellis.
And Normandy Ellis is that very unusual thing which is an Egyptologist and a poet.
So she brings the words into our time and they concern this moment, this revivification of Osiris.
I stand before the masters who witnessed the creation, who were with Ra that morning the sun rolled into being, who were with Osiris in the grave as he gathered himself together and burst from the tomb, white with heat, a light and shining god.
Hail Thoth, architect of truth.
Give me words of power that I may recall my years and weave together my history.
Hail Thoth, architect of truth.
Give me words of power that I may form the characters of my own evolution.
I stand before the masters who witnessed the generation, who were the authors of their own forms, who rolled into being, who walked the dark, circuitous passageways of their own becoming, who saw with their own eyes their destinies and the shapes of things to come.
I stand before the masters who witnessed the working of magic.
I stand before the masters who witnessed the working of magic, who were with Isis the evening she became the swallow and her lamentations filled the air, who were with her as she shook down her black hair and veiled the God's transformation in secret, who witnessed the conception who were with her as she shook down her black hair and veiled the God's transformation in secret, who witnessed Hail Thoth, architect of truth, give me words of power that when I speak the life of a man, I may give his story meaning.
I stand before the masters who know the histories of the dead, who decide which tales to hear again, who judge the books of lives as either full or empty, who are themselves authors of truth, and they are Isis and Osiris, the divine intelligences.
And when the story is written and the end is good and the soul of a man is perfected, with a shout they lift him into heaven.
Hail Thoth, architect of truth!
Give me words of power that I may complete my story and begin life anew.
I stand before the masters who witnessed the transformation of the body of a man into the body and spirit, who were witnesses to the resurrection when the corpse of Osiris entered the mountain and the soul of Osiris walked out shining.
He gathered his heel and his leg.
He gathered his arms and his backbones.
He knitted himself together in secret.
He came forth from death, a shining thing, his face white with heat.
There's an incredible power in the ancient Egyptian system of ideas and the language that they used.
And it puts people like Richard Dawkins to shame, in my opinion.
Amen.
The Osirian system is set down in well-known texts.
The ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead, of course, everybody's heard of that.
But the oldest of these texts, they're all one liturgy, actually, which goes through the whole ancient Egyptian period, were the ancient Egyptian pyramid texts, written inside pyramids of the fifth and sixth dynasties.
Then the coffin texts were written inside the lids of coffins.
And that's why they're called the coffin texts.
And the Book of the Dead typically was written on a papyrus scroll that was placed with the mummy.
And the book of what is in the Duat.
The Duat, by the way, is the name of the strange parallel realm through which we make our afterlife journey.
The book of what is in the Duat, you can see a complete edition of that, for example, painted in the tomb of Thutmosis III in the Valley of the Kings.
And what all these texts do is they seek to prepare us.
For an extremely challenging journey and ordeal that we will face after death, as far as the ancient Egyptians are concerned.
And their view was that it's better to be prepared.
It's better to know what you're confronting.
And that's one of the reasons why, if they're right, our society is doing us all such a disservice with men like Richard Dawkins, because we are not preparing ourselves for this mystery.
We are living in a world of material illusion.
This duat, it's a curious thing.
At one level, it's a region of the sky, and it's the region of the sky divided by the Milky Way and bounded by Orion and Leo.
But it's also, as well as a sky region, it's somehow an underworld with corridors and passageways and gates and monstrous creatures that you encounter that you must know how to pass them.
You need to know the right things to say.
You need to be prepared.
You need to be psychically prepared for this journey.
Chambers, you know, populated by fiends and terrors.
And Anubis, the psychopomp, often will guide you through the underworld, will act as your guide.
And again, notice the Ankh symbol in the pharaoh's hand.
And here's some of those passageways in the Duat.
There's a rising, steep rising passageway.
And I can show you some other examples from the tomb of Thutmose III. This is how they envisaged the Duat.
Here's some of the monstrous creatures that live in it.
A rising corridor here and strange chambers with monstrous entities inside them.
It's impossible to understand the ancient Egyptian concept of the duad without taking a look at the Great Pyramid of Egypt and I'll explain why as we go along.
Santa took these photographs from an Egyptian military helicopter a few years ago and It gives you a strong view of the Giza Plateau.
This is Nazlet al-Saman, the village that clusters at the base on the east side of the Giza Plateau.
Here's the Great Pyramid, here's the Second Pyramid, and the Third Pyramid, the Pyramid of Menkaura, Khufu, Kafre, and Menkaure are the atheros that they are officially attributed to.
There's no good reason for that, but by habit we tend to call them by those names.
Let's swing the helicopter around a little bit.
We're coming around now to the west side.
North face of the Great Pyramid here.

North face of the third pyramid.
Entrances are always in the north face.
Nile Valley over here.
It's truly said that Egypt is a gift of the Nile.
You can see the vast desert stretching off to the west and the greenery and life here where the Nile Valley is.
Oh, and I just want the other thing I wanted to point out is just the incredible scale of this place.
I mean, can anybody see the Sphinx in this picture?
The Sphinx is 270 feet long and close to 70 feet high.
There's little Sphinx over there.
Gazing due east, perfectly due east, at the rising sun on the spring equinox, this very special day of the year.
An enormous conception, which if the Egyptologists are right, which they certainly are not, was done entirely to gratify the egos of three pharaohs.
No.
No.
This was a gift that was given to the world by unknown ancients.
The pharaohs were involved in it in some ways, but it was not only theirs.
We're looking at the north face of the Great Pyramid here.
I have a little personal story that I like to tell at this point, so I'm going to tell it.
We come closer.
It's difficult.
Is the screen clear for all of you, by the way?
This is, from my angle, it's a little bit difficult.
This is actually the original entrance to the Great Pyramid, and down below here is so-called Mamoun's Hole, which Caliph Mamoun broke through into the pyramid and then found the original passageway system, which was completely covered up.
And up here, you can see at the top, there is no capstone.
As a matter of fact, we don't know if there ever was a Benben, a capstone, on the Great Pyramid or not.
There's about half a course of masonry on the south side there of the summit platform.
And the platform is quite substantial.
Santa and I climbed the Great Pyramid five times, three times illegally and twice legally.
And the first illegal climb we did was in the dead of night.
I describe it in fingerprints of the gods.
And this photograph was taken on the second illegal climb.
By the way, if you are going to climb the Great Pyramid, you want to go up the southwest corner.
That's the way.
It's the best, because you can actually get lost on these acres of faces, but the southwest corner is in pretty good shape.
So there I am, a younger man, standing on top of the Great Pyramid.
And what did I find one step down there?
Just one step behind me.
There's lots of graffiti.
Do you see the graffiti here?
Lots of people have put their names up there.
But one step behind me, I found the name P. Hancock, 5th of April, 1916.
My grandfather was called Philip Hancock and he was a chaplain with British forces in Egypt in 1916.
I'm not finished.
I rang my dad, who was still alive at that time, and he had my grandfather's diaries.
I said, Dad, humor me.
Just check Grandpa's diary for 5th of April, 1916.
Tell me what it says.
So I heard the leaves shuffling on the phone.
And then he said, there's just one line here, Graham.
I said, tell me, tell me, what is it?
He said, climbed Great Pyramid today.
So I don't know.
It touched me deeply.
I felt there was something drawing me to this place.
It's a privilege, an incredible privilege to stand on top of the Great Pyramid.
I'm so grateful that I had the opportunity.
What you feel under your feet is the enormous power and energy of this amazing creation.
It's a kind of vibration that comes up through your feet.
It's the most extraordinary feeling.
And you are flying on a magic carpet over the city of Cairo.
It's an amazing place to be.
Wonderful place.
The best place in the world.
If anybody asks me, what is the best place in the world to be?
Right there.
Anytime.
600 feet below it, 600 feet vertically beneath the apex of the pyramid, is this.
The subterranean chamber.
Because it is cut into the bedrock beneath the Great Pyramid.
As a matter of fact, I believe this is the oldest part of the Great Pyramid.
I think the pyramid was built there because this was there.
The original sacred mound of Egypt was the natural hill that is inside the pyramid, and into that hill was tunneled a long passageway leading to this subterranean chamber.
It's nice and cleaned up now, as it looks today, but it's interesting to see how it looked in the early 1900s when it hadn't been cleaned up.
There's how it is today.
And here's this spooky, weird, mysterious place.
This is where you come in.
You come in through this little narrow hole here on the north side.
And then there's a pit here in front of you, deep, now surrounded by railings.
And then these areas, which are all cleaned up, were covered with rubble at that time.
And then at the south side, there's this little passageway, and I've crawled into it right to the end, pretty claustrophobic, I have to tell you.
Severe earthquakes in Egypt.
And your mind can't help turning to that, supposing this is the moment when I'm in here when I'm going to get a six million ton monument on my head.
Didn't happen.
I do know some French archaeologists who got caught down there during an earthquake.
Naturally, nothing happened to them because the Great Pyramid is an amazing structure and it's not going to fall down.
So a rather spooky, dark, mysterious place 600 feet beneath the apex of the pyramid.
Let's do a little journey around the pyramid now.
This is where the subterranean chamber is, and we're going to come up this passageway, the descending passageway, and here you see the descending passageway cut out of solid bedrock.
You're going to be walking like this as you go down it, sometimes easier to go backwards, and it's a difficult and uncomfortable journey into the bowels of the earth.
Here was how it looked in the early 1900s.
This hole in the wall is actually leading into this curious passage, which runs all the way up through the bedrock and up to the base of the so-called Grand Gallery.
They call it the well shaft, function unknown.
Let's go up to the top here and then join the so-called ascending corridor that goes up here.
And there is the ascending corridor.
I want you to get the sense of the rather spooky nature of these corridors.
You're going up here, and at the top of the ascending corridor, you're going to come to the junction of the Grand Gallery and the horizontal corridor that leads to the Queen's Chamber.
There again, from the 1920s, we can see it without all the modern stuff there.
And there is the entrance to the horizontal corridor that leads to the Queen's Chamber, and here's the Grand Gallery sloping up above you here.
Let's pop into the Queen's Chamber first, following that horizontal corridor.
We come in.
There's a little step down there.
Nobody knows why it's there.
And you enter the so-called Queen's Chamber.
All of these names, Queen's Chamber, King's Chamber, we use them habitually.
I use them.
Totally meaningless.
We have no idea what the ancient Egyptians called these chambers.
These are modern conceits.
That's one of the so-called air shafts, the star shafts, that cut through the body of the pyramid and point at the stars.
In fact, the ones in the Queen's Chamber do not exit on the outside of the pyramid.
The ones on the King's Chamber do.
So let's come back out of the Queen's Chamber now, along the horizontal corridor, and stand at the base of the Grand Gallery.
Here is the amazing Grand Gallery at Corbell Vault.
Breathtaking.
Blocks of stone weighing 40 to 50 tons, set at an angle of 26 degrees, perfectly aligned with one another.
You literally cannot get a sheet of paper between the joints.
They are perfectly, perfectly made.
Very difficult to create a cavity of this size inside a monument like this and to do it with such perfection.
Look how it looked in the 20s.
No railings and steps then.
None of this helpful stuff.
You just had to get up there, somehow.
Up into the darkness, up into the Stygian gloom.
Only dimly lit in those days.
And at the top of the Grand Gallery, right up here, is the King's Chamber.
So-called King's Chamber.
That's it in section.
There's the top of the Grand Gallery.
And there's the little antechamber to the King's Chamber.
And then you come into the King's Chamber.
Now, interestingly enough, this wasn't known until one of our British explorers with typical British bad behavior got some high explosives and blew a hole in the wall up here.
He blew another massive hole in the south face of the Great Pyramid, by the way.
His name was Howard Vyse.
May that name be remembered in infamy.
For everything that he did, but he did, with his bombs and his explosions, he did discover something that we otherwise wouldn't know, which is that when you blow a hole in the wall up here and then cut your way through to here, you actually enter a series of further chambers, which are stacked up above the king's chamber.
One, two, three, four, five of them.
And it's often been pointed out that there's a strong similarity between this layout and the layout of the appearance of the Jed pillar, the backbone of Osiris, which is a symbol of resurrection.
And this here at the top, this is so-called Campbell's chamber.
This is how it looks.
These blocks of granite, by the way, brought about 500 miles to be placed here in total obscurity and never seen again.
These blocks of granite weigh about 70 tons each.
And just to give you an idea of the scale, that's me and my daughter Leila and a film crew that we were up there with.
And again, you can see all this horrific graffiti that's up there on the walls.
So that's part of the story too.
And then let's go into the King's Chamber.
I like this picture from the early 1900s.
It's strange, you know.
The people who have passed through this building over the years, it's almost like an image of a ghost to me looking at this, but Napoleon, Alexander the Great, everybody's wanted to go there.
It's like walking through history to enter the Great Pyramid.
So there she stands a hundred years ago or so, and this is the entrance that you come into the King's Chamber from.
And then the King's Chamber itself, incredible two-by-one rectangle.
The pyramid is a limestone monument, but the The king's chamber is entirely granite.
The walls are granite.
And really an extraordinarily geometrically perfect room.
So I said that you would not understand the duat without understanding the pyramid's part in it.
And that's really what we have here.
The ancient texts, you make it absolutely clear that some great secret was concealed in the fifth division of the Duat.
And one of the names for the fifth division of the Duat was Rostau.
And that was one of the names of Giza too.
Giza is the fifth division of the Duat.
And so we have a sphinx at Giza and we have a sphinx in the Duat.
We have a pyramid in the Duat.
We have pyramids at Giza.
Some suggestion of a hidden chamber here.
And If we look at it closer, look at the similarity between the Grand Gallery and this depiction of the Duat here in the tomb of Pharaoh Thutmose III. And what are boats doing in the Duat?
And for that matter, what are boats doing buried off the south face of the Great Pyramid?
It's clear to me that one of the things that the pyramids do, and the pyramids are multifunctional monuments, that one of the things they do is they served as a place in which We were taught to prepare for death.
A place of absolute sensory deprivation, a terrifying place of darkness and narrow corridors and the possibility of being closed in there.
I believe that's what happened to initiates in the ancient Egyptian system.
And I would suggest that what the room that we call the King's Chamber today was all about was this, often approached up a slope as we have with the Grand Gallery, the Judgment Hall of Osiris, which was also known as the Hall of Mart.
This is the goddess Mart, goddess of truth and cosmic justice.
And she wears the feather on her head.
That's her symbol, the feather of cosmic truth and justice.
And the pharaoh is being brought in to the Hall of Mart, which is also known as the Judgment Hall of Osiris.
It's known as the Judgment Hall of Osiris because Osiris sits in judgment at the other end of the hall.
And the deceased is going to be asked questions by these guys up here.
These are called the 42 negative assessors.
Each one of them is going to ask you a question.
Did you kill?
Did you steal?
Did you take the name of the gods in vain?
And all of the Ten Commandments are present in those 42.
And another 32 as well.
These seem to test the moral behavior of the deceased.
Was the deceased a person who was harmful to others, impinged on their sovereignty, stole from them, diminished them?
That person is going to have a hard time in this judgment hall.
Was he a person who could say, no, I didn't do that.
No, I didn't do that.
And say so truly, the time would be better.
So moral behavior is definitely being judged.
And here are the scales of Mart.
Here are the scales of Mart.
And in them are being weighed...
The symbol of the heart of the deceased, representing the soul of the deceased.
And here on this side, the feather of mart, truth and justice in the absolute sense.
You do not want your heart to be heavy with sin and outweigh the feather, because it will not be good for you if that's the case.
And your life was your opportunity not to make those mistakes.
In a sense, your life was your opportunity to prepare for this moment.
That's what you spent your time on Earth doing.
Preparing for this moment when your immortal destiny will be decided.
And therefore, it's good to know what you need to do.
And the ancient Egyptians worked very hard at this.
So, we come to the other side.
Osiris is sitting in judgment.
The god Thoth, Ibis-headed god Thoth, is writing the verdict on his tablet.
And here is Amit, the eater of the dead.
But there's something very odd.
This scene, the weighing scene, is not the weighing of actions.
That is tested already by the 42 negative assessors.
This is Ucha Matet, the weighing of words.
And it's clear that some kind of gnosis, some kind of knowledge, I'm not talking about book learning, some kind of revelation is implied here.
You needed to learn something from your life.
You were given an incredible gift, being born in a human body.
Did you use it well?
Or did you waste it?
That seems to me the question that's being asked here.
Accumulate the spiritual charge necessary to carry you through into the beyond or not?
That's the question that's at stake here.
And in this sense, it's rather similar.
In fact, there are eerie similarities with the Tibetan Book of the Dead.
And here we read that meditation, love, ethics, none of these alone can bring about enlightenment without wisdom.
One of the things we're meant to do in this incarnation is to leave it wiser than we entered it.
For those who squander the gift of life, impinge on the sovereignty of others, cause misery and pain, Amit awaits the eater of the dead.
Their stories will not continue.
They will not return to live another life.
They will not go on.
They burned their chance in this life.
Ancient Egyptian system was quite clear about that.
But for those who've lived life right, who've sought to perfect the soul, who've been nurturing and given love to others and helped them to perfect themselves, then the more positive verdict comes.
And the deceased asks, How long have I to live?
And Thoth replies, thou art for millions of years.
A period of life of millions of years.
And ultimately, the ultimate objective after many incarnations, and this is a beautiful part of the ancient Egyptian system, you can see the soul rising up into the heavens here, was that you would be reborn as a star.
And you would shed the gift of life for millions and billions of years afterwards.
That was the ultimate objective of the whole ancient Egyptian system.
Now, it is not an accident that the ancient Egyptians were great explorers of consciousness.
You won't get a lot of this from mainstream Egyptology.
They're embarrassed by it.
But William Emberden, who is professor of biology at California State University, has done an intense study of the use of hallucinogenic agents in ancient Egypt.
And the blue water lily, the Nymphaea serulia, is one of those hallucinogens.
And it's extensively represented in ancient Egyptian art.
It is associated with rebirth and the afterlife, and it was an agent that was used to alter consciousness for the exploration of worlds beyond this world.
Descending from the ancient Egyptian religion, we have the Hermetic texts, which were really a transposition of ancient Egyptian ideas into Greek and Latin, the languages of that time.
These texts state a number of interesting points that souls have at stake in this life, their hope of eternity and the life to come.
And that it's our duty not simply to acquiesce in our material side, but to nurture our spiritual side.
We are here to tend the earth and look after the earth, and we have a very important role to play in that, but we must not forget that we are fundamentally spirit.
This is what these texts argue.
The Gnostic texts, a darker vision.
It's quite painful to read the Gnostic texts sometimes, but very, very important, also descended from the ancient Egyptian system.
It's a system of ideas that regards the physical world as absolutely evil, and regards the spiritual world as completely distinct from it, and that somehow mankind is a spiritual being that by a horrendous cosmic accident has got immersed in this heavy physical realm.
And that the Gnosis seeks to lead us out of that realm and take us back to our true spiritual home.
So you can say that the Gnostic system looks a bit like this and the Hermetic too.
God is the spiritual realm and the world is the physical realm and the two really don't meet very much.
But the Gnostics have an explanation for all the horror in the world.
They say that for them, the all, the plerima, the source, God, this is the perfect spiritual realm.
And it emanates other...
Entities.
It emanates the aeons.
You can think of them as good angels, if you like.
And the lowest of the aeons is Sophia, wisdom.
And it's Sophia who has this cosmic accident.
Some tragic event occurs.
She falls from her true place in the nature of things.
And she creates the demiurge.
And the demiurge means like a sort of handyman.
He's a pumped-up, egotistic, overinflated, supernatural entity who wants to be worshipped and adored.
And it's he who creates the physical realm and traps the spirits of mankind on the physical realm so that they can worship him.
And he creates archons, evil angels, to keep Humanity under control and to prevent us under all circumstances from ever realizing that divine spark within ourselves.
I think that there's a huge truth embedded in this ancient Gnostic idea.
I think, for me, the Archons are real.
They are operating on us all the time and preventing us from realizing who they are.
And in the Gnostic system, Christ plays an incredibly important role.
But for the Gnostics, they could never see him as a physical entity because they associated the physical with evil.
For them, he had to be more of a vision or a sustained apparition.
Who brings the saving Gnosis to allow us to escape from this horror and return to our true home?
So he's a very important figure, but he's read in a totally different way from the way that the Catholic Church and mainstream religions read Christ.
I believe that the Gnosticism was the true Christianity, and the Christianity we have today, I apologize if I offend anybody, is a false Christianity.

So in the Gnostic story of the Garden of Eden, everything is reversed.
We're taught that the serpent was the bad guy.
This was Satan.
He came to lead us astray.
For the Gnostics, it's not true.
The serpent is an agent of the light.
He is bringing us Gnosis.
He's bringing us this spiritual knowledge of who and what we are.
And God is very pissed off about that.
Very, very, very upset.
The being that we call God, who the Gnostics called the demiurge.
Because this is fundamentally, this is the radical thing that the Gnostics are saying.
That effectively, a demon presented himself to us as God, got us all to worship him, and embedded himself in the heart of our religions.
So they believe that the entity who is called Jehovah, Yahweh, that we worship, they believe he's not God at all.
They believe he's a demon who's here to prevent us achieving our spiritual path.
And therefore they saw the serpent bringing knowledge.
They saw the serpent bringing knowledge as...
As the opponent of that demon, not as the opponent of God, but as an agent of God, of the true God, of the pleramer.
So that's the Gnostic story of the Garden of Eden.
The serpent is a good guy.
And you know what the serpent, as we know from Genesis, what the serpent points out to Adam and Eve is, look, God told you not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
He said if you eat from that tree, you're going to die.
You ate from it.
Did you die?
No.
God lied to you.
And he did.
And once they saw through the lie, God got very cross.
And that demon, that demiurge, and he drove them out of the Garden of Eden.
Because if he didn't want them anywhere to get near the Tree of Life, then they might become like gods.
They would become immortal beings.
Didn't want that to happen at all.
He wanted us shut down and kept locked in the material realm.
So there we are humiliatingly beaten and thrashed out of the Garden of Eden with a whirling sword of fire to keep us away from that tree of life forever.
Interesting how the Gnostics saw the tree.
This is a late form of Gnosticism.
It's called Katharism that this comes from.
And here you see that the tree of knowledge of good and evil is not a tree, it's a mushroom.
And you know what that mushroom is?
Clearly identifiable.
That's Amanita muscaria, an ancient shamanic mushroom used to alter consciousness by shamans in many different parts of the world.
Again and again, is this what that demiurge was getting so angry about?
And look how angry our governments get about mushrooms today.
The flood in the Gnostic point of view wasn't inflicted to punish evil.
That's what the Old Testament says.
But it was inflicted to punish us for having risen so high.
He wanted to take the light from us, the demiurge, Yahweh.
He wanted to take the light, the gnosis that was growing amongst men.
And he wanted to throw us back into great distraction and into a life of toil so that mankind might be occupied with worldly affairs and might not have the opportunity Of being devoted to the Holy Spirit.
This is the Gnostic analysis of the Flood.
As a matter of fact, wherever Gnosis, the light, knowledge has been sought, you find intense and horrific persecution taking place.
And what happened to the Cathars in France in the 13th century was truly appalling.
Gnosticism, when the Catholic Church rose to its power, pulled on the jackbutts of Rome, and started murdering people left, right, and center, the first people it murdered was the Gnostics, down in the Middle East.
But they went underground, and they never died out completely, and the threat of Gnosticism runs through the Balkans and up into France, and settled here in southwest France, around the city of Toulouse and Albi and Carcassonne, And created an alternative Christianity, which was, I believe, the original true Christianity.
For them, Christ was an entirely spiritual being, a Gnostic teacher.
They were revolted by the idea of eating the body and the blood of Christ.
To them, that was a complete antithesis, a complete contradiction in terms.
They were revolted by the notion that Christ was born out of a human body.
They would not accept any of that.
And they regarded the Pope as the agent of the devil.
And they said so, very clearly, with great courage.
And they had amongst them many noble families, knights, who took the side of the Cathars.
And when the Pope decided to destroy the Cathars, he had a fight on his hands.
It was called the Albigensian Crusades after the city of Albi.
They sent down this army of evil from northern France, just heaving with harm and damage and cruelty.
All those horrible weapons, those maces and those axes.
They're coming down into southern France and they are going to murder every single Cathar they can find.
And they're doing so with the license of God's representative on earth, the Pope.
Is he really God's representative on earth or is he representing some other kind of entity?
So what happened was appalling.
Carcassonne, Bézier, Battle of Mouret.
Massacres or genocide on a horrendous scale, burnings at the stake again and again and again.
Can you imagine for a moment what you are doing to a fellow human being when you tie that person to a stake and burn them alive?
What a horrific death to inflict on a fellow human being.
And our church, the supposedly godly church, was inflicting this on thousands and thousands of human beings just because they didn't believe what the Pope believed.
And it went on and on.
The mass burning of the Cathars, torture their books.
It was one of the most horrific episodes in European history.
Caused entirely by the Church.
Entirely by the Church.
And at the end of it, just a total, total disastrous situation.
And Gnosticism was once again stamped out.
And the Catholic Church went on to take over the world.
Now...
From the Gnostic point of view, the Demiurge and his archons and their human servants, they're always trying to steal the light.
That's what they do.
And they're certainly doing so today.
And anywhere you see the light growing, you can be pretty sure that the archonic forces are at work to suppress it.
So watch out.
We are all welcoming the growing of the light, and my goodness, I welcome it.
But remember, there are dark forces out there who seek to crush that light.
We need to be prepared for that.
And if the Gnostic scenario was correct, then how might we expect these dark forces to manifest?
I would expect them to manifest like this.
These jealous intermediaries who impose themselves between us and the divine.
Who at the time of the Cathars would not even allow ordinary citizens to have a Bible.
They weren't even allowed to own a Bible.
They were not allowed to read the Bible in any form.
Because everything must be mediated through the priesthood.
Judaism, Christianity, Islam.
As far as I'm concerned, in their present forms they're all worshipping the same demon.
And you can see the consequences of this.
You know, these religions, they all talk the talk of peace and love.
They all talk it.
Every single one of them.
Catholicism, Judaism, Islam, they all talk peace and love.
That's the talk they talk.
But the walk they walk is very different.
The walk they walk is burnings at the stake.
It's pedophile priests.
It's stoning harmless women to death.
That's the walk they walk.
When you want to figure out what something is, don't look at what it says.
Look at what it does.
And when we look at what it does, we see the harm.
And another archonic force is the state.
The state.
The state.
One of the great things I love about America, I love this about America, is you just won't put up with that much bullshit from your state.
You know?
And actually, you're prepared to do something about it.
In Britain, we're so passive.
The state says, do this.
We say, yes, okay, fine.
There's more of a spirit of independence here in America, and that's why I do see America as the light of the world in this way, from the people of America.
Who themselves are realizing in huge numbers that they are being lied to and abused and misled by this thing called the state, wanted for crimes against individuals.
The state is an extremely harmful entity.
It has outgrown its purpose.
It maybe had a role in human affairs once, but it has outgrown its time.
And if we go on with it...
It's a...
It's an instrument of darkness.
And what it does is it keeps on creeping into every area of our life.
One of the areas the state uses is health.
Oh, we care about your health.
So we're going to take over your health.
You are a responsible adult, but actually you're not responsible.
You're not capable of making decisions about your own body.
We're going to make those decisions for you.
And it gets into every area.
I'm sorry, some people may have strong views on this, but the war on drugs is an instrument of the state.
And it is...
You know, if the state really wanted, if it really was about helping people and saving people from harm, then it would not be breaking down their doors and sending them to prison and ruining their reputations and humiliating them.
750,000 Americans arrested every year for cannabis possession.
Not many of them go to jail.
750,000 lives a year ruined by that criminal record.
Is that love?
Is that help?
That's harm in a very big way.
And I want to say this.
I'm not here to advocate drugs.
But I am here to advocate adult responsibility.
And I think it's a very dangerous trend when the state takes our responsibility over our own bodies and our own consciousness away from us.
If I'm not sovereign over my own consciousness, I've said this many times, if I'm not sovereign over my own consciousness, then I am not sovereign over anything.
There is no point.
In talking in highfalutin language about freedom and democracy and going around imposing it on other countries when in our own countries we cannot even make decisions about our own consciousness.
Right or wrong, we have to be free to make those decisions.
They cannot be devolved upon the state and it is a very unhealthy situation that we face in the so-called war on drugs and what misery and pain it has caused.
If drugs are really harmful, all you have to do is tell the truth.
We've seen it with tobacco.
Nobody got sent to jail for tobacco smoking.
Nobody got their lives ruined or their doors broken down.
We just gave them good information.
You smoke a lot of cigarettes, you're probably going to get lung cancer.
Might not be caused by the tobacco, but you're probably going to get lung cancer.
I was a heavy smoker.
I used to smoke 40 a day, but right about the age of 38, I thought, this isn't really smart.
So I stopped.
I'm really glad I did.
I made an adult decision.
I made a choice about my body when I smoked.
Thank you.
I made a choice about my body when I stopped smoking.
I'm thankful for the information I was given that helped me to make that decision, but nobody forced me to do it.
Cigarette smoking has declined enormously in the West.
You can't even get cigarette lighters in cars by default anymore.
They used to be there, but they're not now.
It's gone.
You know, it's gone down.
So that worked.
The good information, adults made sensible decisions, and most of us stopped smoking cigarettes.
What's happened with all the illegal drugs is they've increased enormously in consumption in this same period.
So this proves that the state's model is completely wrong.
If they want actually to help and get people off harmful drugs, first of all, they've got to legalize those drugs.
And then they've just got to give good information.
And we're all capable of making adult decisions.
So what the war on drugs is really about is fear, hatred, and suspicion.
It's about creating an internal enemy.
Because that's what states need to survive.
They terrify us.
They make us feel so terrified that we need them.
We depend on them for everything.
And they create external enemies who are not our enemies, but we are taught to believe they are our enemies.
And they create internal enemies, those drug users, those wicked evil drug users who are bringing down the moral tone of society.
It's all about fear, hatred and suspicion.
Those are the instruments of the state.
Clearly, the archons are at work.
And another archonic force is our state of consciousness.
Our society has taught us to value only one state of consciousness.
The alert, problem-solving state of consciousness.
And it's true that that state of consciousness, I said last night, it has many achievements to its credit.
I'm personally very glad that we have antibiotics.
They're extremely useful.
It's good for war.
It's good for money.
Generally, this kind of shit, politics, it's good for all of that, that state of consciousness.
And, you know, these are the guys, they'll turn around to people like us and say, ah, you're a dreamer.
You know, in ancient times, you called somebody a dreamer.
You were congratulating them.
Because dreaming was recognized as a valid way of knowing.
But in our society, dreaming is despised because we're all supposed to be like this all the time in our alert, problem-solving state of consciousness.
And, of course, there's many horrendous downsides like this.
I mean, look, we live in a state of total panic and chaos all the time.
Prices are going up.
Prices are going down.
Foreclosure.
Disaster.
Everything.
This system doesn't work.
It doesn't work.
It's been imposed upon us.
It's controlling us and it just doesn't work.
Thank you.
If it worked, if the system worked, we'd never see this horror.
If the system worked, this wouldn't be happening to the Amazon.
The lungs of our planet, this sacred realm, this jungle, this endless jungle, which is being cut down at country-sized rates every year.
Burnt.
Burnt.
And then they plant, what, soya bean farms to feed cattle?
You know, so that we can eat hamburgers.
What an incredibly bad deal that is for us, for the planet, for the Amazon, for the universe, for everything.
What a huge mistake.
Why is it happening?
There's huge economic pressures in the Amazon countries.
And those pressures lead the poor to move out of the cities and seek settlements in the countryside.
Of course, massive financial interests are involved as well.
But a lot of it is resettlement.
They're desperately hungry.
They want to grow.
They want to plant fields and get some kind of income.
So they go and burn down the Amazon.
Look, this happened in the Amazon in 2005.
It actually ran dry, you know.
It actually ran dry.
And the devastation is appalling to see.
It's just appalling.
And we seem unable to act on this in any way.
Fundamentally, it's an economic problem.
I did a back-of-an-envelope calculation during the war in Iraq, and I figured the six months' expenditure in the war of Iraq would solve the problem of the Amazon forever.
Because that problem is simply an economic one.
We could simply, with our ample resources, easily meet the needs of the people of that region in return for keeping this beautiful garden for the Earth.
But we don't.
We don't do that.
We can mobilize funds by the trillion for war and devastation and destruction, but to save a sacred realm, which also happens to be the lungs of our planet, we can't do that.
The archons are at work.
And of course, our society is very angry about drugs, but it does actually support lots of drugs.
Like alcohol, for example, one of the most boring drugs on the planet.
And definitely not a consciousness-raising drug.
It can be, has its function, but it's got nothing to do with raising consciousness.
I would say rather lowering it.
And of course, there's all those prescription drugs, those Those antidepressants and those Ritalins and all those consciousness-altering drugs that are, you know, figure out what they're doing.
They're controlling consciousness in this way.
And then there's the media, you know?
The media, the reality TV, I mean, bombarding our brains, turning our children's brains to mush.
This is what's happening to consciousness in our society today.
And...
Actually, anybody who tries to explore other forms, other states of consciousness is despised and hated in our society.
And that's why we've become a species with amnesia.
We're lulled into forgetfulness of our true purpose here.
So, taking the theme of this conference, far from awake and aware, the controlling powers of our society want us asleep and oblivious.
As sleep and oblivious.
And we're not going to move on to a new state of consciousness using the old state of consciousness laid down with iconic constraints.
We're going to have to throw off those constraints and transcend that old state of consciousness completely.
And the Gnostic system is no longer there to help us.
It has been so successfully crushed and destroyed.
But there are places in the world which have kept the flame alive.
Knowledge that taps into the same wellsprings.
And one of those places is the Amazon.
In the Amazon, despite the destruction, there are still uncontacted tribes.
The Archons have not been able to get to them.
They have preserved an ancient system of knowledge in the Amazon.
And as we Westerners gain some contact with the Amazon, we are also being exposed to that system of knowledge.
There are more than 155,000 different species of plants and trees in the Amazon.
And the indigenous shamans have really extensive and incredible knowledge of their properties, which, by the way, have been ruthlessly ripped off by the big drug companies who use the knowledge of the shamans to mix their own medicines without giving any credit to the original creators.
And I've spoken to shamans in the Amazon about the sickness of the West, which they see also becoming the sickness of their own societies very rapidly as Western incursion increases.
What one of them said to me was very clear.
He said, the problem is very simple.
You have severed your connection with spirit.
If you do not reconnect to spirit, you are going to bring the whole world down around your ears.
It's an urgent necessity.
And in the Amazon, they propose a remedy to this sickness.
And that remedy is a vine.
called ayahuasca.
The vine of souls, or the vine of the dead, as she is known.
And ayahuasca is cooked up into a brew, but not alone.
Into the brew also goes these leaves.
These leaves are called chacruna in the Amazon and the plant is called Cicotria viridis, botanically.
The leaves contain pharmacologically pure dimethyltryptamine, DMT, a Schedule I drug in this country.
And those leaves are also put into the brew.
Now, if you were to make a...
And curiously, the psychoactive element is in the leaves, not in the vine.
But if you were to make tea out of, say, 300 of these leaves, and to drink it all, it would have absolutely no effect on you whatsoever.
Because there's an enzyme in our stomachs called monoamine oxidase that switches off DMT on contact.
So how do they manage to make it orally active?
Well, the answer is the vine, mixed with the leaves, because the vine contains a monoamine oxidase inhibitor.
It's an amazing feat of chemistry that out of those 150,000 different species of plants and trees, they found these two that work together.
To allow DMT to be absorbed orally.
So what the shaman will do is he'll break open lengths of the vine, place them in a cooking pot, put 300 leaves on top of that, put more lengths of the vine on top of that, and then start cooking.
And they'll cook for hours and hours, 24 hours.
Reduce it down to quite a concentrated mixture in the bottom.
Pour it off, usually into a plastic bottle these days.
Put in more water.
Boil it down again.
Keep on boiling and adding to the plastic bottle until finally you end up with a liter or two of this dark brew.
Sometimes it's almost black, sometimes it's reddish in color.
And as others in this room, as well as myself who've drunk ayahuasca, look at this cup, I suspect they're feeling a slight sense of nausea.
It always brings the taste back to me, because truly, I have to be honest, ayahuasca is one of the worst tastes on the planet.
Old socks, a bit of sulfur, some battery acid, vinegar, and just a hint of chocolate.
And that would be the gut-wrenching taste of ayahuasca.
When I drink ayahuasca, I hold my nose, actually, and throw it back as quickly as possible.
Nobody's doing this for kicks, believe me.
This is an ordeal.
It requires an effort of will.
Santa and I are going down to Brazil for two weeks after this.
We're going to have five ayahuasca sessions down there.
I've been preparing myself psychologically for this for the last six months.
Because ayahuasca does a job of work on you, and it really makes you think.
And...
Yeah, you have to be prepared.
So, there's the brew, and you're going to have vomiting, you're going to have diarrhea.
Not every session, not everybody, not all the time, but most of us, most of the time, will have one or the other, or both.
Pretty difficult thing to adapt to at first.
I'm British, you know, we're very inhibited about bodily functions in Britain.
So I find myself in the Amazon, you know, sitting in a circle under the trees, and suddenly I've got to go.
I gotta go.
So I get up and I go behind that tree and I can't bear it that people are hearing me and all of that.
You know, pull up the pants, back in.
But gradually I came to realize I'm being taught a lesson by ayahuasca here.
Your body is the least important part of you.
Relax, don't worry about it.
Ayahuasca is here to cleanse you.
This is cleansing, the purging.
It's called the purge in the Amazon, as a matter of fact.
It's cleansing your body.
Before it starts to do work at the level of the spirit, it's cleansing the body of impurities.
Yes, exactly.
But what's happening at the level of consciousness is truly amazing.
And here's Pablo Amarengo.
Unfortunately, he died in 2009.
A great Amazonian shaman, great artist, who has done, I think, more than many others to bring the world of ayahuasca to those who have not worked with the vine yet.
A world that is filled with sentient life.
A parallel universe, a seamlessly convincing parallel universe into which your consciousness is thrust by ayahuasca.
Filled with intelligent life.
Everything is alive, the trees, the plants, and they're all sentient and communicating with you.
You feel yourself part of an enormous network of sacred, sacred life.
And this is a very insistent message.
It's one of the universals that come through again and again with Ayahuasca about this sacred, magical, enchanted nature of all creation.
These are Alex Gray's paintings, a great American visionary artist under the influence of Ayahuasca.
Robert Venosa, unfortunately, tragically, he died just a month ago from Boulder, Colorado, a great artist also, trained under Salvador Dali, worked with Ayahuasca, completely changed his view, and he started producing this amazing, amazing work.
Ayahuasca has generated huge amounts of creativity around the world.
And you will have a life review.
Sometimes it'll happen in many sessions, depends how much you need of it.
Zayahuasca, as the song goes, doesn't give you necessarily what you want, but she will give you what you need.
And you may need a life review.
I did.
I still do.
In that life review, you will find yourself reviewing your own behavior at various episodes in your life.
And you'll find that you've, far from being the gentle, loving, nurturing, beautiful person that you like to congratulate yourself on being, you'll find that actually you're really quite nasty, and you've been very unpleasant to people, and you said hurtful and cruel things, and you caused a lot of pain.
Yeah.
Ayahuasca makes you live through that from the other person's point of view.
It's agonizing, but it fills you with a determination to be better the next time.
It is difficult, extremely difficult, to change a lifetime of bad habits, but ayahuasca will set you on the course.
It's certainly done that to me, and I have a long way to go.
They say in the Amazon that ayahuasca is a school, and it's a school that you need to attend for quite a long time.
So I've been working through some difficult experiences with ayahuasca, but she's working on me with so much love and so much concern and care that I know I'm in good hands.
On one vision that I had at a time when I was very low in my life, ayahuasca appeared to me in the form of a serpent because they do believe that an intelligent spirit lies behind the ayahuasca vine, and she often takes the form of a serpent, and she wrapped herself around my body All the way, and rested this huge head on my shoulder, and just looked me in the eyes for two hours.
And the message was almost trite, but very, very important for me at that time.
You can love yourself.
It's okay.
You aren't that bad.
And if you can't love yourself, it's difficult to love anybody else.
Yes.
Ayahuasca sometimes appears as a woman, sometimes as a jaguar, often as a serpent.
This painting is by Martina Hoffman, the partner of Robert Venosa, and she is showing here in this painting the only possible attitude that we can take to Mother Ayahuasca, which is an attitude of complete surrender.
Can't fight this force.
It's much stronger than you are.
Trust its love and it will lead you to places that bring insight into yourself.
Ayahuasca is part of an ancient system.
It's a system of shamanism.
It's been a carefully preserved and protected system of knowledge.
It is globally distributed and shamans have kept it out of the hands of the archons.
And altered states of consciousness are fundamental to all shamanism.
There is no shamanism that does not involve an altered state of consciousness induced by one means or another.
Very often that means maybe visionary plants, but rhythmic dancing, certain kinds of austerities will also bring on the necessary altered state of consciousness, which allows us to separate off from this material realm.
And in these altered states of consciousness, it's very common for shamans to report encounters with intelligent supernatural entities, and they construe these entities as spirits.
Sometimes take human form, sometimes they appear as animals, and sometimes they appear as part human, part animal hybrids.
In fact, that is the most common form in which they appear.
This is universally documented.
And these hybrids, the technical term for them is therianthrope.
That's from the Greek therion, which means wild beast, and anthropos, which means man.
Creatures like And shamans themselves report transforming into animal or therianthropic form as they enter the spirit world.
Now, here's a curious thing, and it's a mystery, that many of the experiences that shamans report with spirits are Identical, really, phenomenologically identical to the encounters with aliens that have been reported by tens of thousands of people in the West who construe their experience as being abducted by aliens in UFOs.
I'm suggesting it's the same experience in both places, construed in different ways.
As a matter of fact, shamans themselves quite frequently depict UFOs in their paintings.
This, again, is Pablo Amaringo, a painting done sometime in the 80s, I think.
And here, on top of the classic therianthrope, this bird man, we see flying saucers in the sky.
I asked Pablo about the flying saucers, and he said, yes, some of them, they come from other planets, but most of them, they come from the spirit world.
They're vehicles for entering and leaving the spirit world.
When a shaman talks of the spirit world, he's pretty close to the place that physicists are in when they talk of a parallel dimension or a parallel realm.
So I interpret what Pablo is saying there as saying that these are devices for moving between realms or between dimensions.
And if that's what they are, it might explain their extremely elusive quality, which has definitely got a physical element, but which has also got a huge psychic element.
I don't think that we can get to grips with the UFO enigma or the alien enigma if we stick totally to nuts and bolts and the physical and material realm.
I think we have to enter the psychic realm to understand this phenomenon properly.
So it's interesting that shamans are seeing UFOs and depicting them in their imagery like this UFO here in this classic ayahuasca vision.
Or this one here, beside a human-headed serpent.
Again, we see the aliens present, if that's what they are.
Curious that this is happening.
Now, if we want a dossier of evidence on the experiences of shamans, this is the great work, the magisterial work by Mircea Eliade, Shamanism.
And it's hundreds of pages long, and it just includes history.
Huge numbers of experiences reported by shamans.
So there's an enormous dossier of evidence on shamanistic experiences.
And of course we have a huge dossier of evidence on the experiences of UFO abductees thanks to the work of David Jacobs and the late Bud Hopkins and the late John Mack who was a friend of mine and a wonderful individual.
Formerly he was professor of psychiatry at Harvard University.
He was killed by a drunk driver in London in 2004.
John started receiving into his practice people who'd had a deeply traumatizing experience, which they construed as being abducted by UFOs, and unlike most of his colleagues who said, these people are just nuts.
John took them seriously and he started to record their experiences and to work with them and the conclusion he came to was they were certainly not insane.
These were very sane, often very grounded people who had had a deeply traumatizing experience and were suffering from a kind of post-traumatic shock disorder.
So he honored them and he worked with them and for that Harvard University tried to get him fired.
He wasn't allowed.
This went outside the area that Archons allow us to talk about.
Not normal to fire a tenured professor, but that's what happened.
Well, he got Danny Sheehan, who's a great lawyer who lives on this coast, to work with him and he managed to keep his job at Harvard.
Thanks to Danny's representation.
But John told me that after that, he was treated like a ghost in Harvard.
When he would walk down the corridors, when people passed him, colleagues passed him, they would ignore him as though he didn't exist.
He said that he'd been banished to the phenomenological and epistemological wilderness.
That's what happens when you deal with the stuff the archons don't want you to deal with.
So we've got a huge dossier of evidence on UFO abductees' experiences, and we've got a huge dossier of evidence on shamans' experiences.
Let's do some comparisons.
Shamans usually encounter spirits in the form of animals, birds, or fish, or therianthropes.
And here is John Mack summing up how the aliens usually appear to people, because they don't always appear as the grey.
Very often they appear as animals.
The aliens appear to be consummate shapeshifters, often appearing initially to abductees as animals, owls, eagles.
Raccoons and deer are among the creatures the abductees have seen initially.
Same kind of creatures that shamans see.
What about being floated up into the sky?
Here's a UFO abductee in America.
I sort of feel like I'm on an elevator except there's no walls or anything around.
It's up fast.
And here's a Basuto shaman from South Africa.
The room of his hut opens above his head and he feels himself carried into the sky where he meets a multitude of spirits.
And then we have these threads of light and ropes of light depicted in some rock art in South Africa, as a matter of fact.
And again, UFO abductees like Andrea and Arthur here talk about climbing threads of light or ropes of light to reach the craft in the sky.
I won't read everything on the screen because you can do so for yourselves.
Abductions don't only take place to the sky, they take place into caves and underwater.
And again, this is reported frequently by shamans, that the spirits abduct the shaman to an underwater or to a cave location.
And it's odd, really, these two supposedly completely different domains...
Sharing so many similar experiences.
The shamanic ordeal is the classic.
It's almost the definitive experience of shamanism.
The spirits abduct the shaman.
The shaman is laid on some sort of flat surface and is cut to pieces or may have objects inserted under his skin or into his brain.
Crystals very commonly are inserted into the brain.
This strange, bizarre, surgical experiences at the hands of spirits is just very, very, very common.
And, of course, it's very common with UFO abductees, too, who have objects inserted under their skin.
And here's Sandra Larson abducted by a UFO. Beings removed her brain and set it down beside her.
Here's a Yakut Shaman sighted by Eliad.
The spirits cut off his head, which they set aside.
Bone counting amongst UFO abductees and amongst shamans.
These are just two close similarities to be entirely coincidental.
Sex with spirits.
Very common.
Shamans are always having sex with spirits, as a matter of fact.
Pretty horny, those shamans.
And the spirits.
And I actually do know a shaman whose wife has left him in this realm because of his wife and kids in that world.
It's just not on.
Oddly enough, UFO abductees have the same experiences.
They have experiences of sex with aliens, of producing hybrid offspring with aliens, of being abducted again and again to nurture and care for those offspring.
I don't believe that this is a coincidence either.
What about...
Books.
Shamans are given books.
Often they may be illiterate, but suddenly they can read.
But they're not allowed to take the books back to earth by the spirits.
And the same with UFO abductees.
Betty Hill was given a book.
She wasn't allowed to take it off the ship.
And here's another one.
Betty Andreassen.
Given a small blue book with luminous pages, but soon afterwards it disappeared.
Again, very similar to the experiences of shamans.
So there's two supposedly completely different unconnected domains which turn out to have astonishing similarities.
Fairies and elves, what are they?
A third domain.
And why are they so similar to spirits and to aliens?
And I want to pay tribute to Jacques Vallée here, whose 1969 book, Passport to Magonia, first drew our attention to the astonishing similarities between fairy lore and modern alien lore.
What I've done in my work is to take the database on from 1969 up to the present day.
I noticed David showed this slide earlier of the fairy ring.
Fairies were in the business of abducting people.
That's what fairies were about.
It was the case that if you saw fairies dancing in a ring, You would not be wise to approach that ring.
Were you to touch it, you would be whipped into it, and you would find yourself in another world instantly, bang, like that.
You're somewhere else, totally else.
You're in fairyland.
You might make some love there.
You might have some nice food.
You might spend some time there.
It might seem like an afternoon has passed.
Finally, you get to go home, but you discover 300 years have gone by.
On this reality, what was an afternoon in that reality was 300 years in this reality.
And that's so like the missing time phenomenon that UFO abductees report.
It's just that it seems that since they graduated from dancing in circles to flying saucers, spinning in circles, they've become more gentle on the time.
So they take us away for three or five hours, not for 300 or 500 years.
But I believe it's the same phenomenon.
Fairies could be cruel, they tortured and hurt human beings, but they could also be kind and gave us gifts, material wealth, healing powers.
They used aerial devices which were construed as Flying castles or flying carriages and so on and so forth.
They abducted people underground as well as into the sky.
You can see some examples here.
The fairies dancing in the ring and there's the entrance to the hollow hills.
And here's a group of fairy maids seducing a young man into fairyland.
Between them I see some mushrooms.
And here I see another mushroom, an Amanita muscaria mushroom in this medieval woodcut.
Fairies and elves often took therianthropic or animal form.
This woodcut is from Holland in the 15th century.
You can see the fairies dancing in a ring.
Look closely.
They are part human and part animal.
They are classic visionary therianthropes or Melusine, this feared medieval fairy, part serpent, part woman, feared for abducting human babies.
And this notion of the human-headed serpent, well, we do find it quite, really, astonishingly widespread across the world.
So there it is in medieval Europe.
Here's a human-headed serpent in Pablo Amaringo's ayahuasca art today.
Here's a human-headed serpent from Japan.
This is a universal phenomenon of experience that's being described here.
And actually, these therianthropes go back deep into history.
Everybody's heard of Theseus and the Minotaur, of course, slaying the Minotaur, which is a bull man.
And here we have, from a card in 1800 BC, a bull man wrestling with a lion.
And we can go back further.
We can go to ancient Egypt, where all of the deities are therianthropic in form, human-animal combinations.
The Great Sphinx is one of those.
And there again, a human-headed serpent in the ancient Egyptian underworld.
And actually the oldest piece of representative art to have survived anywhere in the world is this one from Pumani Cave in Italy.
It's 35,000 years old.
And what we see is the body and legs and arms of a man, but the head of some kind of horned beast, probably an auroch, a gigantic species of bull.
And here from Hollenstein Stadel Cave in Germany, 32,000 years old, a lion man carved out of mammoth ivory.
And here a bison man from Chauvet Cave in France, head and shoulders of a bison, hind legs of a human being.
And in fact, bison men, they're all over the painted caves for thousands and thousands and thousands of years.
This hybrid's amazing.
They call him the sorcerer, 17,000 years old, part stag, part horse, part owl, part wolf, part human being.
Where did the artist get this idea from?
Not from observing daily life in this physical reality, that's for sure.
These were not magical attempts to capture the soul of animals.
That notion that cave art was some form of sympathetic magic, you can completely dismiss it.
I go into it at length in some of my written work, but I won't bore you with the details here.
Just take my word for it.
It was not about magically possessing the souls of animals.
Where did these ideas come from?
What was the source of their inspiration?
And if we pull back from this bison man, we can begin to see what's going on here.
Here's the bison man, head and shoulders of a bison, hind legs of a human being.
But you can see that he's actually straddling a female figure, prominent pubic triangle here.
But oddly, she is headless.
And yet, down here, what's happening to her right arm?
It's transforming into the head of a lion, like one of these lions down here.
So this is an image of shape-shifting, 33,000 years old.
On the walls of Chauvet Cave in France, bison man and the woman caught in the moment of transition between a lion and a woman.
Let's not pretend that this is people dressed up in skins.
This is shape-shifting that's being depicted here.
As it is here in South Africa.
And indeed, in rock art all over the world, these themes occur again and again and again.
I could give you examples from anywhere.
I've seen them myself in Utah and Arizona.
The same things.
Human-animal combinations.
Here it's humans transforming into antelopes perched on this curious zigzag.
And these two figures, human bodies, these are from the Drakensberg in South Africa, about 8,000 years old.
Human bodies, the heads are those of Elans, a large species of antelope.
So they're antelope-headed human bodies.
This one's got two feathers growing out of his back.
This one has got actually two serpents wrapped around his body.
And each of those serpents has also got the head of an antelope.
Pretty weird, huh?
Again, you didn't see that in daily life.
This is not something of this realm that's being depicted here.
Because what the shamans say is that they go to the spirit world, and when they come back to this world, they depict on the rock walls what they've seen in the spirit world.
And this has been brought to an academic theory now, a very good one.
It's one of the very few times I find myself in agreement with archaeologists.
That the specific characteristics of cave art, notably the presence of therianthropes and certain distinctive patterns, again, I don't have time to go into the details here, leave absolutely no doubt that the cave art was an art of vision.
It was a shamanic art, like Pablo Emeringo's art today.
Following altered states of consciousness, they depicted on the cave walls what they had seen in those trance states.
David is a professor of archaeology at the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa.
His work is extremely important.
I highly recommend The Mind in the Cave.
We've been studying cave art for more than 100 years.
Now we finally know what it's about.
It's an art of visions.
It's a visionary art.
And today, of course, initially David was viciously attacked by his academic colleagues, but gradually his model is just so thoroughly thought through and documented that it's now largely accepted by the mainstream.
And a lot of David's work is based on work that was done with psychedelics, with human volunteers, before the war on drugs stopped that interesting research.
It's interesting that here was a volunteer.
They compiled this from the experiences of many volunteers, but you see these scintillating patterns, a lot of geometry.
There's a sense of passing through a vortex, emerging into a seamlessly convincing parallel world.
And in that world, in Stone Age times, they saw Lion men and bison men, but here was a volunteer in the 1960s under the influence of mescaline, and what he saw was a man in a business suit with the head of a fox.
Essentially, the same thing is going on.
It's being construed through our cultural spectacles, but the same visionary experience is being had, and it's being had in a deeply altered state of consciousness.
So we can say that altered states of consciousness were fundamental to the cave art, and the final proof of this came in March 2011, when this cave was discovered, in which we find not only the cave art, but also a clear representation of Psilocybe hispanica, which is an ancient hallucinogenic mushroom species grown in Europe since the beginning of time.
I call this six million years of boredom.
That is the human family tree.
Our ancestors were astonishingly dull for a very, very, very long time.
And you really wouldn't have found them interesting to talk to.
They didn't invent stone tools until two and a half million years ago.
Here it is, the Alderwan stone tool tradition.
Once they'd invented it, they stuck with it without change for the next million years.
Not a single change was introduced.
This tells us two things, that they are passing down cultural knowledge and that they are incredibly rigid and locked into a framework.
They've created a technology and they are going to stick with it, come what may.
Familiar to us today?
We are very, very heavily dependent on our technology.
We think it's the best thing in the world, but we see lots of superficial changes, but are there real big changes taking place under the surface?
And then, when the change was introduced, the Etulian stone tool tradition, well, it stuck for a million years, too.
Until about 250,000 years ago or less.
About 200,000 years ago, this is mainstream stuff.
We can take issue with it, but for the purposes of this discussion, let's say they've done some pretty thorough research around the world, and so far the oldest The most definite anatomically modern human skeleton that has been found anywhere in the world is 195,000 years old.
Just slightly less than 200,000 years old.
So when we back a million and a half years ago, they were not anatomically modern.
But by 200,000 years ago, our ancestors looked just like us.
Their brains were just as big as ours.
They were us in every sense.
You could pass them in the subway, you wouldn't notice any difference.
But their behavior was stuck back in this set.
They were stuck back in this.
There was hardly any behavioral change when anatomical modernity appeared.
And then suddenly, as though a light has been switched on all over the world, somewhere after 40,000 years ago, this happens.
The incredible cave art just bursts out.
Our ancestors become symbolic.
They make this amazing imagery.
It's an incredible privilege to visit the painted caves.
There are 300 painted caves in Southern Europe.
30 of them are open in the public.
If you get a chance, go.
They are the most amazing underground cathedrals in places of incredible atmosphere and power.
And all over them in the darkest recesses, these amazing images that move the heart and draw us into another world.
At the same time, That the cave art was introduced, which we now know was an art of visions that could only have been produced by shamans who had experienced altered states of consciousness.
At the same time that the cave art was introduced, we started doing all kinds of other stuff that we recognize as fundamentally human.
We started burying our dead with grave goods, food and water.
That means our ancestors firmly believed that some aspect of that individual survived physical death.
And our whole economic behavior also became much more efficient.
There was a real phase change in human behavior at that time.
And it's difficult to resist the conclusion that it was connected to those agents, those plant allies.
That allowed our ancestors to see beyond the material realm and into the realm of spirit and freed them from iconic control.
So it's interesting that new research on psilocybin has...
Again, we're dealing with a huge propaganda machine which is against these ancient plant allies that have co-evolved with us to help us.
But it's interesting that new research on psilocybin now is beginning to show truly its mystical and mysterious properties, that people have profound spiritual experiences under the influence of psilocybin, and that those who are suffering from terminal cancer There's been a particular study done in the last year, are enormously relieved by psilocybin experiences because they find they don't fear death anymore.
They understand death is not the end, that there is much more going on than this.
So it's very interesting that this research is coming out now.
And here is another molecule, the DMT molecule.
Actually, it's very closely related to psilocybin.
Psilocybin is often referred to as orally active DMT. There are differences, but they are closely connected.
And Rick Strassman's work was mentioned earlier.
Rick's a good friend of mine and I've got huge respect for this man.
He was the first American scientist for more than 20 years to be allowed by the federal government to conduct research with dimethyltryptamine with a powerful hallucinogen and human volunteers.
He was at the University of New Mexico in the 90s.
And Rick's volunteers received their DMT by intravenous infusion while lying on a hospital bed in the University of New Mexico.
Ayahuasca will take you on a four-hour journey.
DMT will take you on a 12-minute journey.
That's one of the fundamental differences between the two, although DMT is the active ingredient in most.
So it's a kind of rocket ship to the parallel world and then back again in 12 or 15 minutes.
Interestingly, we're all illegal in this room, every one of us, because we all have DMT in our bodies, generally in sub-psychedelic quantities.
It's found in blood, plasma, urine, cerebrospinal fluid, and it has an unknown function.
We don't know why the human body produces dimethyltryptamine, but it does.
And it is believed to be produced in the pineal gland.
And the pineal gland, interestingly, is or was a sense organ.
In evolutionary older animals, like lizards and amphibians, it's called the third eye, and it actually possesses a lens, a cornea, and a retina.
In humans, the pineal has sunk deeper into the brain.
It's not directly sensitive to light, but I suggest strongly that it is still a sense organ.
And that DMT is the lens it generates to allow us to see what is normally unseen, to allow us to see areas of reality that are normally inaccessible to our senses.
This brings us back to the issue of the brain as a receiver of information.
If we think of the brain that way, then we can understand that a chemical might change brain function and produce valid and consistently verifiable experiences.
We would not be right to come to the conclusion that those experiences were unreal.
And here are some of the experiences reported by Rick's volunteers.
And those experiences are astonishingly like the experiences of UFO abductees.
Being probed with long fiber optic things.
Here's Ben.
He feels something inserted into his left forearm.
Here's Carl.
He meets a lot of elves.
Lucas finds himself on a space station and then he's inside the space station where automatons and android-like creatures are at work.
Other guys meet insectoids and I met one too, by the way, under the influence of ayahuasca.
I haven't gone into this in detail, but that was one of those occasions when my cowardice got the better of me.
I sensed that I was going to be taken.
I was sitting in a hut in the jungle and I suddenly saw this group of Yeah, flying saucers up above me and a beam of light coming down and they were going to take me and I was terrified and I opened my eyes and I said, no, no!
And they went away.
I regretted that so much I've never had the experience again.
I wish I'd said, yes, yes, take me.
I want to know.
So, very, very strange that they're reporting these experiences.
And Rick recognized these remarkable similarities.
And what he's suggesting is that UFO abductees may be spontaneous overproducers of endogenous DMT. But that does not mean that their experiences are not real.
We need to redefine our definition of reality.
If we accept that, yes...
If we accept that consciousness is not generated by the brain but received by the brain, then it becomes possible to do so in a very straightforward way.
Rick draws the analogy between the brain and a TV set.
What DMT is doing is not just adjusting brightness and contrast and color, it's switching us to an entirely new channel.
And provides repeated, regular, reliable access to other channels, to other worlds.
And what Rick is saying is that these worlds are usually invisible to us in our instruments and are not accessible using our normal state of consciousness.
However, just as likely as the theory that these worlds exist only in our minds is that they are, in reality, outside us and freestanding.
If we simply change our brain's receiving abilities, we can comprehend and interact with them.
And a very simple analogy.
You know, the scientists, the iconic scientists presented with the phenomenon of visions and hallucinations, they say, that's just your brain on drugs.
Utterly meaningless.
They'll wire you up to an MRI scanner while you're on psilocybin, and they'll see bits of the brain lighting up, and you're having these visions, and the scientist says, that's just your brain on drugs.
That's just the brain.
Disturbed brain chemistry is just producing those visions.
What a stupid idea.
And I'll explain to you why.
Because if you want to look at a distant star, you take your little home telescope, and you're going to point it at the right area of the sky.
Then you're going to focus the telescope.
When you do so, physical changes will take place inside the barrel of the telescope in the relationship between the lenses.
Eventually, the star will come into view.
You would be completely wrong to say that the star is those physical changes inside the barrel of the telescope.
I'm sorry, you can't reduce the star to that.
The star is real.
Those physical changes inside the barrel of the telescope simply allowed you to see it.
That's the suggestion with dimethyltryptamine in the human brain.
Yes, physical changes are taking place in the brain, but they are taking place to allow you to see what you normally cannot see.
It's like a lens or an instrument applied to the brain.
So, I would suggest, since we humans cannot see something without interpreting it, interpretation is built into perception from the get-go, that in all these realms, the modern volunteers in hallucinogen research, the aliens, the fairies, The spirits, that they're all the same phenomenon, viewed through different cultural spectacles and construed in different ways.
And that from time to time, down the millennia, it's particularly clear 35,000 or 40,000 years ago, but there have been other times, like the 1960s.
From time to time, down the millennia, it's brought the forbidden fruit of Gnosis to us.
And reawakened us to the true nature of things.
And that's why let's just return to the Garden of Eden.
And there we see these human-headed serpents, you know, all over the place, bringing us knowledge, bringing us gnosis.
And remember what the demiurgic and archonic forces did to those who sought Gnosis.
And realize that there's a great mystery of good and evil.
I believe that both are necessary.
I do believe that we are here to learn.
I've said it several times at this conference.
We're here to learn and to grow and to develop.
Life is a theater of experience.
If we did not have the opportunity to choose between the dark and the light, how could we grow?
There has to be that contrast.
We have to be able to make a choice, otherwise we are just automata with no guiding force within us.
We have to be able to make those decisions.
And it seems that the demiurge did not want us.
to make those decisions.
It wants to keep us in the dark when our true home is in the light and we have never stood at a time more urgent than now when we need to return to the light.

It's been a huge job for him and he probably...
You know, the reality, if you look at the small crew here, we really didn't have enough people.
That's the bottom line.
We should have actually had more people, but these people did, many of them, multiple jobs.
I'm sure that they slept very little.
They ate very little.
And so if you do see one wandering around the lobby later, if you want to buy them a drink or dinner, that would be lovely.
And Christopher, And Christopher, the marketing guru who kind of came on at the last minute and helped us because we've got no clue how to like do those marketing, kind of send out the words through Google and all this kind of thing.
And he just, he really stepped up at a moment and really helped us at the last gasp to get the word out that this conference was happening.
