Shock of Pregnancy Signs 00:13:08
She walked into her bathroom and she got the shock of her life.
I was not prepared for this.
Today.
So, you're nine months pregnant and you had no idea.
No idea at all.
Why it happens more often than you think.
Plus, the only diet you'll need in 2018.
Here's what you're going to be doing every day.
See what this plan can do for you.
Piggin 365.
Coming up next.
Are you ready to say some lies today?
I love you, Becca.
I was pregnant and I didn't know it.
How many of you have said that?
I was pregnant and didn't know it?
Never.
All right.
So that's what my next guest says happened to her.
She's here to tell you the story of the day she walked into her bathroom, listen carefully, and got the shock of her life when she suddenly gave birth to a baby.
It actually happens more often than you think.
I went to the hospital for extreme stomach pain after being there all day.
I went in for an ultrasound and I had birth at 11 06.
They asked me, is there any chance you're pregnant?
I'm like, no.
Went down to ultrasound.
The lady said 38 weeks, two days.
When I woke up, my husband came in and he said, We've got a baby in the nursery.
Never felt this pain before, so I knew something wasn't right.
That was when my water broke.
Over the years, the unbelievable stories have poured in.
Women who had no idea they were pregnant until moments before they delivered.
And they saw no warning signs for nine months.
Did you have nausea or vomiting or intestinal issues at all?
I got sick one time and I thought I had bad barbecue.
I had my period every month.
Some stories even defied the odds.
We had been trying for four years.
And I just didn't think that it was medically possible.
Why would I be pregnant when I've been married 22 years and, you know, 47?
She was 10 pounds, two ounces.
And the latest on January 11th, DeAndre Nay, who had experienced a normal pregnancy with her first child, gets the shock of her life as she finds out she's pregnant the moment she gives birth.
So DeAndre Nay is joining me now in the studio.
If you don't mind, I'm going to go back to the very, very beginning.
All right, so you're.
Nine months pregnant, and you had no idea.
No idea at all.
Didn't cross your mind.
No.
Other than tipped you off.
So, everyone watching is probably thinking what I'm thinking, which is.
Like, how did you not know you were pregnant?
Yes, exactly.
Thank you for putting those words in my mouth.
How can she not know she was pregnant?
I mean, what do you say to those folks?
I mean, I didn't show any signs or symptoms.
I mean, I had my monthlies every month.
You were having your typical menstruation.
Typical menstruation every month.
I took a pregnancy test because you know I had unprotected sex that one time.
Came back negative.
You know, people studied telling me, you look like you're pregnant, but I took a pregnancy test when they said it, came back negative again.
So I thought I was, you know, okay.
How long after you had unprotected sex did you do the pregnancy test?
It was two months.
Two months afterwards.
All right.
Can you go through a basic checklist of things that most of us think about with pregnancy?
The first of it, any morning sickness?
No.
All right, so check that one off.
Any issues with food cravings?
No.
Are you feeling tired, exhausted?
No.
My normal self.
How about weight gain?
No.
Well, I mean, I'm just curious about this weight gain, so I actually got some pictures from you.
This is what you sent us.
So, this is a picture of DeAndre Day a year ago before she got pregnant.
And let's put up the one where she's eight months pregnant next to it.
I got to say, you don't look that different.
You got a sweater on, too.
Yeah.
Are you all a little surprised by this?
And the other thing is, you've been pregnant before, I understand.
Yes.
So you know what it's like.
Yes.
Did you have obvious signs with the first pregnancy?
Yes, I had morning sickness, tiredness, fatitude, everything.
Did you look pregnant?
Yes.
During my first one, yes.
Oh, this is interesting.
All right, so now you got my attention.
This is obviously an intelligent woman, knew what pregnancy was like, had all the signs the first time, second time around, doesn't seem to have had any of the signs.
I'm going to come back and revisit some of these issues because I'm curious as a doctor about that.
But let's get back to the day that changed your life.
So you go to the bathroom.
You're now nine months pregnant.
Nine months.
And you thought you were constipated.
Yes, I thought I was constipated.
You know, my stomach was starting for like three days.
And on that third day, you know, I'm like, okay, it might have come out, you know, loosen it up.
So I ran me some bath water, got in a tub, sat down for a little bit.
And then my stomach just started, got the, like it was gas.
I thought it was gas, but it wasn't.
So, has that worked in the past, that technique?
Yes, like the high water, you know.
I thought it was the number two, but it wasn't.
So I just.
The number three now.
Yeah.
You got number one, number two, it's number three.
Any of you when you're in the bathroom from now on, you should have that concern.
Could be a baby as well.
All right, so.
So then what happens?
You're in the tub.
Are you feeling like the constipation is getting worse?
Yeah, so I just sat up, then I sat back, and then I just did one good push.
And then that's when my baby came out.
I know it's so weird, like I didn't cry, none of that.
None of that.
It just was like an easy pregnancy.
Well, just to be, first of all, you wouldn't, I mean, well, you're pushing in a tub.
What if you had gone number two in the tub?
I know.
It would have just been floating in the water.
So, what happened?
What did you think when all of a sudden, instead of number two floating in the water, you got a baby girl, a beautiful baby girl floating in the water?
I'm like, I was not prepared for this at all.
I wasn't.
So, what did you think was happening?
I don't know.
Just.
A life changing moment at the time.
Did you grab her?
Who held the baby?
I did.
You just grabbed her down, brought her back towards you?
Yeah.
You know, she came out.
I grabbed her with my one hand.
I held my baby like this.
My niece came knocking on the door.
Why'd you come knocking on the door?
Because she was like, I hear a baby.
So you didn't even call for help?
No.
And then I called, I told my little niece to get the phone for me so I could call 911.
She ended up bringing me the phone.
I called them.
I'm sorry, you got a baby in one hand, you're calling 911 with the other?
Yes.
I know.
Why don't you just have your niece call 911?
Because she doesn't know the numbers.
But it's 911, that is the number.
She ain't know at the time.
She was a little younger.
Oh, my goodness.
You're at home by yourself?
No, it's me, my sister, my niece, and her best friend.
Where everybody sleep except for me.
And then, you know, kids getting ready for school.
So it's around about.
So, what happened?
So, you called 911.
Did the EMS come?
Mm hmm.
And they woke up your sister.
Yep.
And they was like, I heard somebody's having a baby in the bathroom.
And what did your sister say?
She was like, Who?
Who happened to baby?
This is too good to be true.
All right.
When we come back, I got to get an OBGYN about this.
And OBGYN is good.
I wrote a pro to weigh in on how a woman can overlook a pregnancy.
And here's this, guys it actually happens more often than you think.
Stick around.
The sugar industry cover up that may have contributed to your diabetes, heart disease, even your cancer.
All nuisance.
That's coming up tomorrow.
We are back with Andrenae's shocking story.
She says she didn't know she was pregnant until one day she gave birth to a baby girl in her bathtub.
And as you just saw, she's not alone.
This happens to real women all across the country.
But the real question we get asked today is how can someone miss the signs of pregnancy for nine months?
All these women had that happen to them, so it's not just one individual.
Joining us is OBGYN, Dr. Evelyn Minaya.
The endogenous story is really compelling.
So please explain how it's possible.
That she who's had a baby in the past had all the typical signs the first time could go nine months with none of those signs.
And that could happen all the time.
All the time.
So, your second pregnancy, you know how everybody always talks about every single pregnancy is different and it can be.
But sometimes there is a psychological thing about denial.
Sometimes it is that you're scared, but sometimes you're not even aware of your own body.
You know, we were talking in between, and for six years she hasn't had a baby.
How is she going to be aware that anything has changed?
Would she felt good?
And like I said, every single pregnancy is absolutely different.
All right, so let's go through the specifics of your case because I'm so fascinated by you.
You're very charming, by the way.
You have an ability to tell a story that's really perplexing and keep us on our toes.
DeAndre mistook the signs of pregnancy as being constipated, which, can you describe, by the way, the pressure?
Just be specific.
You've got someone who delivers babies all day long with me.
What did it feel like?
It was about a 10.
Yeah.
10 out of 10?
Yeah, that they.
The last day.
There are a lot of women who are worried about going number two when they're having a baby.
Yes.
And we don't care, trust me.
We don't care.
She's our dream, okay?
You go in, out, you're done.
That's right.
That's faster than normal.
But explain to me what the Andre was experiencing.
Why did it mimic being constipated or trying to have a bowel movement so much?
Right.
Because the pressure of the head.
As it puts pressure on your rectum, you feel like there's something in the rectum.
And as a matter of fact, when I do deliver patients and trying to coach them to push better, I say to them, picture yourself in the bathroom having a BM.
And even though some women are like, oh, I don't want to have a BM, I said, darling, it's not a BM.
What you're feeling is actually the head of the baby, as she experienced.
Mimicking a BM.
Yes, big BM.
Mimicking a BM.
And then, as she said, she stood up, remember?
And then she pushed.
Well, she was pushing out what she thought was her BM, but actually, In fact, it was the baby.
And you didn't feel any kicking, right?
You said?
No.
You're curious about why that's so?
Yes.
Did you feel kicking with the first baby?
Mm hmm.
Okay, let me explain this to you, because this actually is something we've observed.
I made a little animation.
So, think about the egg coming down, getting fertilized.
It's got to embed somewhere, right?
And let's go inside the belly of a pregnant woman and be clear about something.
If the egg embeds at the top or the back or some part of the uterus, the belly button's over here.
Oh, you're going to feel it right through the skin, right?
All the women who had babies have felt that probably.
But what if the placenta is on the front, next to the belly button, right?
That's what the egg goes there.
Now there's a little cushion, a trampoline.
When the baby gets larger and kicks, watch.
Nothing.
It absorbs it like a cushion.
You won't feel the baby moving.
Just because the egg implanted near the belly button and you've got a little trampoline or cushion there, right?
So that is actually a pretty good explanation for why you might not even feel the baby in there.
But the androgene also never stopped having her period.
Which, Dr. Benaya, is that really possible?
Well, that was one thing that I would contend with.
It's probably not a real period because the uterus, as you saw in the animation, it's really occupied.
There is really no lining to shed, per se.
It is really occupied by not only the placenta, amniotic fluid, and a baby.
You know, while we can have, though, bleeding throughout the pregnancy, it's usually not timable.
It doesn't smell like a period.
It doesn't look like a period.
It ain't a period.
Were your periods not normal?
No.
They weren't normal?
No.
They were lighter?
No, they were like dark red.
Yeah, dark red.
So that's the other thing, too, because depending upon where the placenta is, but again, it's not a normal period, right?
You can, yeah.
So give us some wisdom here.
I mean, DeAndre, you were very lucky, obviously, to have a healthy child, but this is a phenomenon that I'm sure is worrying to a lot of experts.
Yes.
And it is, and it is.
Baby Breathing Surprise 00:06:00
But you know what?
I think I'm more concerned, okay, with the phenomena that we think that always pregnancy is benign.
You were very, very lucky that you had your baby normally.
What if it came out as a breach?
What if nobody was there to attend to you?
You had no prenatal care, and not through any faults of yours, my love, because you just didn't know.
And a lot of women really are not aware of that.
But with no prenatal care, you know, you don't know if your baby needed something or had to have special people at the time of delivery or that you had any pre existing conditions.
Like I said, everybody thinks that pregnancy is great.
You have a baby at the end.
But you know what?
There's maternal deaths.
There are, you know, baby deaths.
I know, God forbid.
And that's what I'm saying.
Or, God forbid, you have a seizure or you had high blood pressure, diabetes.
Or, what if the baby gets stuck?
And then you can't take them out.
You know, and that happens all the time.
That's called a shoulder dystocia.
We're not out of the woods yet because now we, when we left your story, your niece hears the crying of the baby, wants to play with her cousin.
You're still in the tub, right?
You call 911, and your sister is not letting them in because she doesn't understand that it's a baby in the house.
Everyone's surprised.
So, coming up, another twist of it you are not going to believe.
Tetox plan recharge your body for the new year.
Revealing the full five day plan.
Oh, nuas.
That's coming up on Friday.
This is a picture of beautiful baby London born in a bathtub.
There she is, weighing a healthy six pounds, 15 ounces.
Her mother, DeAndre, had no idea she was pregnant, and her birth was a complete.
Total surprise.
So you're sitting in the tub.
You've got your beautiful baby in your hands.
You expected to have a bowel movement.
You got a baby.
No one's around.
What's going through your mind?
Like, is this happening again?
You know, is I'm prepared?
Like, I didn't have nothing.
No, no, nothing.
I wasn't prepared at all.
No clothes picked out?
Nothing.
Like, and I just see a baby.
I'm like, can I really do this again?
Were you worried a little bit because there's no one around to help?
Yes.
The placenta hadn't delivered.
You got the umbilical cord all over the place.
Yeah, it was just in there until the EMS came.
So, what happened when the police showed up?
It was these two officers.
Both of their names was Jordan.
That makes it easier.
Yes.
And it was this lady named Sarah.
They came and helped me, you know, deliver my baby.
The rest of it, you know, cut the umbilical cord, picked the placenta up.
And Officer Jordan didn't have any kids.
So, I ended up Naming my daughter after him.
You're naming your daughter after the two EMS guys that came, the police officers?
Jorda.
That's right.
That's good.
Well, I got a little reunion for you.
Come on up here, a little surprise.
I'm going to ask those two officers to join us now.
They're here via Skype.
We also got Detective Sergeant Matthew Giroux and Officers Jordan Englehart and Jordan Beatty.
Thanks for organizing this all for us, guys.
So, Detective Sergeant Giroux, I understand that.
You were the first one to respond in the center because you got the call.
So, what were you told?
Well, the initial call was that there was a woman giving birth in a bathtub and that they were unsure if the baby was breathing or not at that point.
So I started to respond and grabbed my CPR mask just in case, and we all arrived there basically at the same time.
And Officer Englehart, that's sort of scary.
You know, they thought that the baby may not be breathing.
So you get to the home, what did you find?
How was the Adra Day?
Yeah, so once we got to the home, it was kind of like.
An initial shock for us because this is the first type of call I've had like this.
So when we knocked on the door, no one really responded.
And then we found out the door was unlocked, so we made our way inside and we were greeted by, I think it was her sister.
We didn't know what was going on either.
And she kind of led us back to the bathroom.
And we walked in, and sure enough, we saw DeAndre Nay there in the bathtub holding the baby.
And at that point, the baby was making noise, so we knew it was breathing, we knew it was okay, and she was calm.
She was a champ then.
Officer Beatty, what's it like witnessing life?
Just for the first few breaths, the actual birth process?
It was definitely a shock, and I was blown away because me and Officer Engelhardt, we don't have any children, so it's quite the sight to see, but also it's a blessing anytime a child is brought into the world.
Officer Engelhardt, what was your reaction to seeing the first moments of life come into the world?
Yeah, you know, like Officer Beatty said, we don't have children on our own.
In this career, we see a whole lot of death.
But we don't ever see, it's very rare to see a new life come into this world, so it was a blessing.
Detective Sergeant, your officers are fairly new to the force.
Are you happy no one fainted?
Oh, absolutely.
These guys are superstars.
They did a great job, exactly what they were supposed to do.
After the initial shock, the training kicked in, and the real superstars showed up, the paramedics, and helped us deliver that.
Placenta.
So, DeAndre, you've got the officers cold up now.
What do you have to say to them?
Just thank you all for everything y'all have done for me.
You're going to say Jordan with a lot of pride.
Yes, Jordan.
Officers, well done.
Congratulations and thank you very much.
All right, it is time for us to finally meet the baby of the hour, London, Jordan.
So, come on out, beautiful one.
Meeting London the Baby 00:15:17
There she is.
Oh my goodness.
Can I hold him?
How are you?
Are you, Grandma?
You're so beautiful.
Oh, she's not sure.
Grandma left.
Look how cute she is.
What an unexpected, beautiful surprise with a good arm, too.
So, what's it like having her now?
Amazing.
She's going to be a model.
She's liking the cameras.
You want to read the prompter?
I'm beautiful.
What's going on?
They really are miracles.
I'm glad your miracle came out in such a lucky way.
I don't want that to be the future for you.
No.
But it's the blessing that Jordan, as we'll call her, looks so lovely.
Oh, my lovely one.
Congratulations.
And I got a little gift for her.
Hold on.
I forgot to get it in all my excitement.
There it is.
I don't want her to leave completely empty handed.
Yes.
There is beautiful one.
All right.
Enjoy the onesie.
We'll be right back.
Up next, the only diet you're going to need this year the Pegan 365.
Find out the surprising foods you can eat for long-term weight loss.
Today, the only diet you'll need in 2018 is a new healthy eating plan that we've created after a year of intense research, putting 40 women on 10 of the world's most popular diets.
We had one goal in mind to pinpoint what you really need to be eating right now to get the best results for sustainable long term weight loss.
That's our only goal.
It's going to be the diet that everyone's going to be talking about this year.
It's been our biggest, longest TV experiment ever the Great Diet Showdown.
We road tested each diet.
To find out which had the best overall health benefits, weight loss, and sustainability.
Our group of 40 testers tried them day in and day out.
While all diets had their benefits, the results were inconsistent, and some testers fell off them as the months went by.
We crossed off eight diets and narrowed it down to the top two paleo and vegan.
Even though these diets are very different, the benefits and weight loss results of both were virtually tied.
So we gathered more information about these two diets with in depth analysis from our testers.
In a surprise twist, my team found a diet that worked for everyone.
And today, I'm revealing it with a brand new weight loss plan for you.
So, all 10 of the diets work, which is why we'll put them all up on droz.com.
But two stood out when it came to total pounds lost paleo and vegan.
Paleo and vegan, they seem like they're the opposites, right?
But that's why I'm excited to announce to you my newest diet plan.
365.
You heard right, Pigan 365.
It is the best of the two diets coming together, and we pinpointed the one thing that may make your weight loss different this year.
We designed this diet to work 365 days a year.
So let's talk about why I'm so excited about the Pigan 365.
Well, it's the results.
We estimate you can lose one to two pounds per week, especially early on.
And two of the testers from my year long experiment to uncover this diet are joining me now.
Tiffany, Lost 35 pounds on the vegan diet.
That is a lot of change.
Oh my goodness.
And Pam is also here.
Pam lost 19 pounds on the paleo diet.
Tiffany, let me start with you.
Congratulations to both of you.
You look fantastic.
I'm very proud of you.
A year of work, and so did 40 other women, so God bless all of you.
You did the work so we can learn.
Yes.
You were on the pegan diet.
What was the hardest part about staying compliant, staying on the program the whole time?
You know what, Dr. Oz?
I think that the reason that the vegan diet as a group won the Great Diet Showdown is because.
It is incredibly easy.
I mean, like almost everyone I ran into knew something about the vegan diet.
So that makes your support system that much greater.
What were the hangups with the vegan diet?
My wife tried to go vegan.
Right.
And she said after about six months, she was becoming difficult to be around.
She noticed that that was her words, not mine.
Right.
And she also said that there were times she'd be places they just didn't have vegan food.
Well, what I did notice that was a challenge for me is as I started to shed the pounds, I started to work out more.
But I'm gassing out.
And that's why I feel like the Pigan diet can step in and be a great tool along my weight loss journey.
I'm not finished.
So I feel like adding some animal protein every now and then will help fuel me up, gas me up, and get me ready for the next leg of this challenge.
So watch me in six months.
This is gas to exercise better, or you were getting physical gas?
No, no, no, no.
I'm kidding.
Just kidding.
Just kidding.
All right, Pam.
So you were on the paleo diet.
Yes.
And likewise, you loved it.
There's some downfalls as well.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, I think in general I liked it because I just found certain foods that were easy for me.
And I also have struggled so much.
I'm 55 next month, and I have really had such a hard time losing weight and keeping it off because of my hypothyroid.
So this was exciting for me.
But the downfall was I travel every like once week, one week every month for my job.
So on the road, finding a protein that wasn't based like a meat.
Wasn't always easy.
So, like hummus, for example, that would be a go to for me, but I couldn't have it.
So, on the pagan, I think I can.
But also, you know, it's expensive.
It can be expensive, the meat.
It can be the meat.
You know, like grass, I was buying grass fed beef, and I mean, I loved it, but it can be pricey.
So, we combined the pluses and we took care of the negatives.
That's the best part of this program.
That's the Beacon 365.
So, for the first time ever, I'm going to unveil it.
You ready to hear this?
Yes.
All right, for everybody home, pay attention.
This is a broad overview, just very high level to get us on the same page.
We made it easy to follow so there's no room for errors, right?
I want you to think about it very simply.
That's five, four, three, two, one.
Just count down from five, right?
This checklist will be on my app, on my website.
There it is right in front of you.
See, five boxes next to vegetables, four next to carbs.
We'll go through all this right now, right?
So when you go to the checklist, specifically, I'm going to ask you to check off over the course of the day five cups of non starchy vegetables to keep you full all day long.
We get a list of all, in fact, there'll be more than 30 of them on drraj.com.
There's just a couple, but there are tons.
Four, next number, it stands for fiber rich carbohydrates.
You can choose fruit, right?
Fresh or frozen, up to you.
This is not expensive, very accessible.
We want you to have whole grains.
Guys, I'm giving you bread.
There's bread here.
That's like a slice of bread.
Even Oprah will be happy with this, right?
Oats, quinoa, they all count as well as whole grains, starchy vegetables like sweet potatoes and corn, they all work as well.
Corn, these are the foods you can actually eat.
Three stands for the number of smart proteins.
Now, this is important.
This is the place where the peegan comes alive.
You get to choose one paleo protein like chicken, fish, or eggs.
And then I want you to combine it with two of the vegan proteins beans, tofu, or tempeh.
This gives you the flexibility to dance through life, like I want you to all do, and not feel like you're handcuffed into one very rigid plan.
Again, you can choose and combine for peegan.
Two stands for healthy fats because you've got to combat those cravings.
I know they're going to hold you back.
I don't want them to make you uncomfortable.
You can choose from things like avocados, nut butters, nuts, or oils.
All these count.
And one stands for dairy substitutes.
One of the biggest components of the Pigan 365 plan is we do eliminate dairy because a lot of you have issues with it.
But I know you need a fix.
So choose one substitute a day.
The great examples are nut milk, nut cheeses like this, non dairy yogurt.
They all can work.
This, my friends, these, my friends, are the plan.
54321.
When we come back, we're going to take you through the weight loss plan specifically that you're going to try this year the Pigan 365 in detail so you know what to eat meal by meal.
The sugar industry cover up that may have contributed to your diabetes, heart disease, even your cancer.
All nuance.
That's coming up tomorrow.
We are back revealing my Pegan 365 plan.
I'm so excited about this.
I want to explain the science of why it works and may help you get closer to your weight loss goals.
You might be able to lose one or two pounds a week consistently.
So, in both diets, processed ingredients, We don't want those.
We don't want refined sugar.
We don't want dairy because these are foods that cause inflammation in a lot of folks.
They're eliminated, right?
So they're gone.
Both diets have a high emphasis, both vegan and paleo, on fruits and vegetables and healthy fats, right?
All these are essential for healthy weight loss.
All of our women who are doing this all year long got benefits from this.
But here's why they differ Paleo folks eat animal protein, right?
High quality protein, hopefully, but meat, fish, poultry.
Vegan folks eat plant protein like legumes and grains, right?
So you got a tug of war going here.
Which is better?
Well, it turns out you don't have to choose.
Pegan 365 combines both animal protein.
And plant protein, a little bit of an emphasis on plant for a lot of reasons, but we focus so much in America on animal protein, right?
And these proteins do have a place in our diets, but they don't have any fiber.
And they're expensive.
We don't need a ton of them.
So we can get mostly plant protein, add animal protein when you need it.
The addition of a plant based protein can be a game changer for those of you who are interested in weight loss.
It'll get you to your goals.
And the science shows that people who eat more plants just lose more weight.
That's the data.
So you feel more energized and you can reduce your risk for chronic disease as well.
Now, I first learned about this combination from my friend, Dr. Mark Hyman.
Who's a world leader in functional medicine?
The stuff's been used, food's been recommended this way before.
But I want you to take a careful look at what a meal looks like on a Pegan 365.
This is a foodie's dream.
And backstage in our social influencer kitchen, they are putting finishing touches on the meals they created for this plant.
Now on the stage here, I've got Kim.
She lost almost 22 pounds, if I'm right.
You're correct.
22 pounds this year on a vegan diet.
And I'm going to start off with the breakfast, not vegan, Pegan diet.
Right?
And you're going to get me started with breakfast.
I'm going to walk through all the meals today.
So, what's typical breakfast?
I understand it's called a fat toast.
This is fat toast.
It's yummy, it's satisfying, it's great for you.
Okay, so you take Ezekiel toast and you add a healthy fat like avocado, a nut butter, even a little olive oil.
You can add some spices, get a Jamaican flavor.
Oh, I like that.
A little Jamaican stuff going on.
Maimon?
Maimon.
Yes.
So, Ezekiel bread I love.
Yes.
I don't want to take away your bread because I know you get miserable without it.
But this one you don't pay a penalty for.
And on my check sheet, you're checking off a carb and you're checking off a fat.
That's why it's, you know, a fat toast, you call it?
Fat toast.
Fat toast.
I'm proud of you for making it.
Thank you.
And I'm proud of you for losing away.
Thank you.
God bless you.
Thank you.
All right, next up, I've got a very special gift.
Lunch on the Pegan 365 is not just any old lunch, it's a supersized vegetarian meal.
And I asked the show's chef, Uli, who feeds me every day, to create tantalizing meals you can eat on this planet.
And if any of you think I have a lot of energy and wonder how I do this, it's actually because Uli is making.
When Uli's not here, Lisa's here, but one way or the other, I'm eating the right food.
So, how'd you create these meals?
This was so much fun to work on.
There are so many options to work with, and it's not really a diet, it's like a life choice, a lifestyle.
And it's primarily vegetarian?
Vegetarian, tons of vegetables, so you have nature's bounty at your hands.
With this one, for example, squash, sweet potato, zucchini noodles, mushrooms.
Is this squash?
Yes.
Then you have the mushrooms.
You saute them in a little oil.
You've got a little fat in there with the oil.
And for some protein, you put in it umami.
It's got the right texture, which is what I love.
It's nice.
There's some crunch there.
There's some mouthfeel that is enjoyable and satisfying.
This is.
Uli's been feeding me the pegan diet for a while now.
I taste test this.
This is my favorite.
What is this?
This is chili stuffed potatoes.
Chili stuffed peppers.
Peppers.
This is so good.
And there you have a little bit of animal protein in it.
There's lots of herbs, and they also have a ton of vitamins in them.
And this is a cold platter.
No, it is my warm and cold salad.
Oh.
And what I really love about this one is that you can use leftovers for it.
Whatever vegetables you have in the house, either grill them or use them fresh.
Then I use melted tomatoes that I cook in a little bit of olive oil, put some balsamic vinegar into it, and use that as a dressing.
See, uli is always a bit of a paradox a little bit of warm and cold salad.
It's just so nice because you feel like a complete meal.
It's like an appetizer and the whole.
And it's a money saver because there's leftovers primarily.
So you check off.
Two vegetables off that little checklist I gave you, and you check off one of the proteins.
There they are, check them off.
And we put all the recipes on drraj.com so you can eat like I've eaten with all these recipes.
God bless you.
Finally, dinner.
I want you to see what our social influencers have made.
I'm taking my fork with me.
Come on out, social influencers.
Lisa Hain from at the Well Necessities, and we got Sabrina Viza from at Running Brina.
Thank you both very much for being here.
You look so chipper and cheerful.
We're excited to be here.
The best part about the picking program is no one's grouchy.
Milk.
Which is probably the best.
I mean, I'm getting, I'm around a lot of grouchy people who are trying to diet.
This makes them feel good.
Okay, what'd you make for us?
Okay, so what I made is a one pan cauliflower rice with broccoli and tempeh.
It's Asian inspired, so we used a little bit of soy sauce, shoyu, whatever you've got at home.
And so the two vegetables are the cauliflower rice, which you can buy frozen, so without doing all the mess and the hassle, the broccoli, which is a non starchy vegetable, the tempeh, which is our plant based protein, the star of the show here, and some sesame seeds, and it's all done.
Literally five minutes.
I mean, it's so darn simple, so perfect, and that's why it works.
Now, you combine vegetable protein with animal protein in yours.
So, I love Mexican food, that's my favorite.
And I have created a chicken taco salad, which is based on plant protein, the beans, and chicken protein.
Let me be the judge of the taste of this.
Now, you use this getting ready for marathons and all kinds of fun stuff.
Yeah, I, yeah.
And it looks great and it tastes even better.
God bless you.
These ladies are going to be posting their meals.
Their Pigan meals all year long.
We're gonna make it as easy as we can for you.
My team at The Good Life has also created exclusive Pigan recipes.
Look at them, they're fantastic.
Cheat Days and Snacks 00:08:15
You'll have even more options to choose from.
I want you to go through these recipes and look at all the ingredients in them, and then the boxes, right, we checked off with these three meals just today, right, are all there.
See, we checked them all off, but there are a couple blanks, aren't there?
You know what that means?
You're right, there's room for snacks.
When we come back, the specific snacks that will kill your cravings so it's easier for you to succeed, plus something we have never ever done before.
You can actually have alcohol and desserts and even cheat days.
It'll make it work better.
Stick around.
Detox plan recharge your body for the new year.
Revealing the full five day plan.
Oh, nuas.
That's coming up on Friday.
Today, the Pigan 365 plan revealed for the first time.
It is the best of both the paleo.
And the vegan diets.
365, because you want this to work every day to become a lifestyle, not just a diet where you feel deprived.
Now, one of the brains behind this new plan is my staff's diet expert, Nicole.
Let me just speak to Nicole for one second.
Guys, we win Emmys every year because of Nicole and the production team here.
I get to get up here and deliver their wonderful information, but Nicole is emblematic of it.
She actually is not only a producer, she's going to get her nutrition degree, and I'm very proud of you.
And she worked tirelessly with the 40 women who tested these programs all year long.
And you're proud of the fact that you came up with things you thought we all needed.
Snacks being one of them.
Yes, yes.
I'm very passionate about the next couple of rules.
So, first, snacks.
So, we designed it for two snacks per day.
And again, you can customize it.
If you need one snack, if you need four snacks, that's why we have the checklist.
So, you can do what you need in place.
So we kind of came up with interesting snacks that are going to keep you satisfied.
Because snacks need to ideally get you from each meal, or otherwise the diet day seems long.
So radishes with almond butter.
Most people think about apples with almond butter, but Dr. Oz actually eats these like apples.
So good.
And they're super low calories, so.
They're the same color as apples.
They're a little smaller.
Exactly.
And again, it's just something that you might not have thought of before and a way for you to kind of use your pegan foods.
Then olives and pumpkin seeds.
This is a cool combo that we came up with to use the fats.
And again, it's just a combination of flavor that you might have not thought of.
Then something simple.
It's blueberries with a non dairy yogurt.
That's for the texture eaters, people who need something big and full as their snack.
And then cucumber sticks.
This is the gem of the snack world.
You know, you can literally have 150 cucumbers and you're still fine on your diet.
As you tirelessly talk to all the women who are on these programs, which kinds of snacks do they like the most?
You know, it depends on what type of eater you are, but I would definitely say the non starchy vegetables because there's no serving size.
Keep going, keep going, keep going.
Okay, now there are two other exciting foods this diet allows you to indulge in, which you guys keep complaining to me about.
Moaning and groaning and whining to her, me, and everybody else.
So, we decided to address it.
We created the Pekin 365 to allow you to have alcohol.
That's the first of these surprises.
Explain why alcohol was permitted.
We historically are always nervous about alcohol and diets.
Yes.
So, we allowed for two alcoholic drinks per week.
So, that could be a glass of wine, it could be a light beer, it could be a shot of alcohol in a low calorie water.
And the reason we put alcohol on there is because no diet is going to work if you feel like a social outcast.
So, also, you need to be able to feel like you can accept a planned happy hour and still be on your diet.
So, ultimately, you can plan for these rules.
But they become your backup plan as well.
Twice a week, and she says something really important.
We don't want you feeling like an outcast because loneliness, crazily, when you do the surveys, it's the number one thing that surprised me.
People on diets are lonely because everyone else is having a great time.
You're on your little rigid rules, no more.
Twice a week, you get to have these.
And then the other thing you get to cheat on, twice a week again, is dessert.
Desserts, yes.
So I have a motto in life is that a diet without dessert is basically a disaster because you need desserts, you need to be able to emotionally eat, you need to be able to live on a diet.
So what we did is we looked at all the pecan foods.
And we took them and we made desserts and we planned for them.
We planned them in the overall caloric intake that you can have two desserts per week.
So, these, for example, are no-bake brownies using beans, which are super cool.
And this is just a fruit.
If you want to have your fruit as your dessert, that's always a good go-to.
And then this is a coconut pudding.
And we also took that same pudding and we turned them into popsicles.
That's a cinnamon stick using blueberries.
So, I have personally tasted these.
I'm not a big dessert eater.
These things are so darn good and they're so good for you, you want the cheese.
Which is why I'm very proud of all these.
Speaking of cheats, we want cheat days, guys.
I don't want you to feel badly about cheat days.
Cheat days are important.
Take it away.
Yes.
So, you know, we went back and forth on this, but we decided that you can have one cheat day per week on this diet.
Exactly.
It's very exciting.
And here's why because, again, we designed this plan to be 365.
That means it needs to work for the whole year, but forever.
So the cheat day is the light at the end of the tunnel.
It makes you think, okay, I can diet for six days.
And then I can have my cheat day.
It also makes you feel like you can have cheese if you need cheese.
You can have dairy.
You can have holidays.
It can be your birthday.
And it also gives you the opportunity to emotionally eat.
If you just need one day and you just can't diet, your cheat days are there.
But one thing to remember is if you want to expedite your weight loss, blow through the cheat day.
They're just there if you need them to make sure that you succeed.
So I think it's very rational.
My personal advice is take the cheat day, it'll make it more sustainable.
I want you to actually cycle a little bit with your calorie intake, it'll get your metabolism better.
To keep revved up and taking a day off once a week makes a lot of sense.
I'm so proud of you.
Thank you.
Will you throw us out?
Read that right there.
Right there.
That one.
That one right there.
The new tool that makes this diet foolproof and everything you need to get started on the Pegan 365 plan today.
Listen to her.

Two healthy fats to combat your cravings, things like avocado and different kinds of oils, olive oil in particular, work well.

That's it, five, four, three, two, one, super simple.
