To start, I put a poll on DrOz.com to find out what you worry about most.
So, let's go to the worry wall.
Let's look at what happened to 42% of you.
Because you worry about catching the flu.
Like Maritza, who sent us this video.
Hey Dr. Oz, it's flu season again and my anxiety levels are through the roof.
Every time someone sneezes around me, all I see is this big green smog.
I've now become a cyberchondriac.
I research all the time for symptoms that probably are not even there.
Am I paranoid or am I just a little cuckoo?
So Mr. is joining us.
So why do you worry so much about the flu?
I worry about everything.
I worry that I'm going to get it.
Everyone has the flu these days and I take the train to work.
So people sneeze, things fly around and I'm totally scared.
So I constantly call my doctors.
They're sick of me.
I think I have everything.
Now, you call yourself a cyber chondriac.
How much time do you actually spend online looking up these different illnesses?
All day long, every single day.
I research everything.
All right, so I want to help alleviate your worries.
That's our purpose today.
I'm going to make sure you know when you're safe and when you're not.
That way you'll feel a bit more comfortable about everything in life.
Okay, so here's when not to worry.
I'm going to give you an acronym up here.
You don't worry, and I want you to think of the word cold case.
Cold case, because case stands for the four things that are good to have.
Okay.
Which don't mean you have a flu.
So they are congestion, an acute cough, a sore throat, and an earache.
Now a lot of folks are going to be surprised, but these symptoms alone are likely not to be the flu.
So the next thing is a sore throat, don't panic, I got the flu.
That's commonly not the first thing that a flu would tell you.
In fact, what does usually signify a flu can be remembered by using the word flu facts.
Think of the word facts, put them up there.
The F stands for fever, over 100 degrees.
It aches, of course, all those muscle aches.
Also, the tiredness, they're more commonly with the flu.
Again, not with the climbing cold.
So if you've got the flu facts, that list of symptoms on the left side over there, then you can, you know, if you want to, go visit your doctor.
That makes a little bit more sense.
And then you can, there are medications that can accelerate your recovery and alleviate your symptoms faster.
Right.
But I find myself self-diagnosing myself all the time.
Well, again, a way to help make sure you don't self-diagnose yourself with the flu, and that's to get the flu shot.
Have you had your flu shot?
Yes, I did.
Good for you.
I did, and it hurt.
It really did.
Little trick for the flu shot, if they squeeze your arm a little before they give you the flu shot, they distract you.
Then when the needle goes in, you don't even feel it.
Didn't work.
Get over here.
Let me show you how the flu protects you.
The flu shot, obviously, if you take it in the right time, can make sure you don't get the flu.
It doesn't work all the time, but pretty effectively.
Let's go back to what happens when you have the flu.
Someone sneezes.
Choo!
90 miles an hour, those particles fly towards your face.
When they finally get to your face, you inhale, thousands of droplets go through your vocal cords, down into the lungs, and they link up in these very small little hairs where the virus particle, that blue thing, sets up shop, penetrates through the surface, and goes into your lungs, causing all the symptoms we talked about with the cold case scenario.
With the flu shot, it doesn't usually hurt.
Look!
Yes, but it doesn't usually hurt.
That's right.
It's really long.
It creates these antibodies to be made, these green things.
They latch onto that blue virus and they prevent the virus from going into your body.
So the virus is still there, but it can't infect you.
It reduces the risk of getting the flu by about 60%.
Not 100%, but by 60%.
So it's one way to feel a bit more comfortable that you really don't have it.
Right.

The next thing that you worry about are headaches.
In fact, 58% of you worry they might be something more serious, like Janine.
Dr. Oz, I get the worst headaches.
They're awful.
Sometimes I actually feel like my head's going to explode.
I go online and I Google the symptoms, and every time I do, the first thing that comes up is brain tumor.
Sometimes I swear that I'm actually having an aneurysm.
I don't know if I should be taking aspirin or if it's something worse.
How do I stop worrying?
Janine is joining us.
And is it just the headaches or do you worry about a lot of things in life?
I worry about everything.
I'm a mom.
I've got three boys.
They're very active.
I worry about every single thing that happens to them.
But when it comes to my headaches, I worry the most because they need me.
So if something happens to mom, We're in a lot of trouble.
So I never know if it's a small thing or a big thing.
So let me take that one little issue of the headaches off your plate.
There are other things, of course, we can focus on, but headaches and health problems are a big one.
Alright, so when you search on the web and you see under headaches things like tumors and aneurysms, how does it make you feel?
It freaks me out.
I never know, you know, how bad the pressure has to be.
Do I take a Tylenol or do I go get a brain scan?
We're big in streams here.
So, knowledge is power.
That's why we do this show.
So if I give you a little bit of knowledge about headaches, it might at least give you a bit more comfort that you can take the Tylenol and not have to rush off to the headache.
So there's two ways to help figure out whether these symptoms are something bad or something good, and I think this will alleviate your worries.
The first one has to do with when you get to discomfort.
So come on over here.

This is representative of your headaches.
Slide that across to what time of the day you usually get your headache.
When is it usually?
Everyone should be thinking this in your own mind when you get headaches.
It's probably between midday and afternoon.
And what are you normally doing when you get the headaches in the middle of the day?
So getting the boys ready for school and I'm up in the morning and I'm racing around and breakfast and lunch and uniforms and going over vocab words and then we get out the door and then I run back in the house and start my day and cleaning up and then all of a sudden it just settles in.
So I think it's that morning rush and the racing around and then when everything's done...
So, I'm going to plead to you.
Okay.
It's important, alright?
If your headache's in the middle of the day, they're almost certainly going to be okay.
Okay.
I don't worry about that.
They're stress headaches usually.
Okay.
They're usually related to tension.
The things you're describing happen there.
Okay.
If you've got throbbing sensations, if you've got one-sided symptoms more than the other, fits more with migraines.
But all this stuff happens usually around here.
Okay.
Okay.
It's not pleasant, but there's no reason to worry.
This show is about not just telling you what to know, but telling you things that you have to know.
So I'm going to tell you when you should know that a headache is a concern.
If the headache happens late at night and wakes you up.
Okay.
That's a symptom that worries me because sometimes brain tumors have been known to do this.
Oh boy.
So it doesn't mean you have a brain tumor.
Just go check it out.
That way you actually feel more comfortable.
But don't waste your time here.
Okay, great.
That's the first way.
The second thing we're going to talk about is what happens when you actually get the headache.
So come back with me.

I've got a little model here for you.
How suddenly it comes on is a big clue to us.
So this is a little brain model.
Stand right here next to me.
All right.
You and I can play a little game here.
Okay.
It's a test.
I want you to hit this brain, and I want you to watch what happens over here in our wordy words guide.
What happens to the pain?
Does it go up slowly or fast?
Go ahead and bang it.
Okay.
Your headache in this example goes up slowly, finally peaking, and then it reaches where you want to be.
Right.
That's a good thing.
Okay.
Is that typical for you or atypical?
Yeah.
No, that's exactly normally how it happens.
Alright, so I'm going to hit the brain now, and I'll show you a different scenario.
When I hit the brain, it happens quick.
Okay.
Pains that come on very suddenly without a lot of warning.
Those are the bad ones.
Those are the ones that sometimes can be bleeds from aneurysms.
Those are the things that worry me more.
If you have this, you want to see somebody.
Right.
And there's nothing wrong with being inquisitive when it comes to your health, but don't jump to the wrong conclusions when you have a little bit of knowledge that can make you feel more comfortable.
The reason a lot of doctors go into medicine is because they know more about their bodies so they can be more comfortable about day-to-day issues.
They tend to be the calmest because we know what to worry about.
And then you can act accordingly.

It happened to 65% of you and you're worried about stomach pain.
That it might be something more serious, including Melissa.
Dr. Oz, whenever my stomach hurts, I worry.
Could it be an ulcer?
Do I need my organs removed?
It feels like a sharp pain.
Should I be worried about my constant stomach aches?
So Melissa is here.
Organs removed?
Why do you have to have your organs removed?
Dr. Oz, I worry so much about my stomach pain.
My family thinks I'm crazy because I'm constantly worrying about this.
But because there's so much going on in your stomach, I wonder, could it be my gallbladder or an ulcer or my appendix?
Oh, I got it.
So, let's go through when to worry and when not to worry.
So, don't worry if your stomach pain gets better with antacids or the pink stuff, right?
If it feels better after a poop, likewise, those are all good things.
That signifies irritable bowel or food sensitivity or just indigestion, as you mentioned earlier.
However, If the pain comes back immediately after taking antacids, or if you've got nausea with a deep burrowing burning, like someone's drilling a hole in your belly, especially with the nausea that I mentioned, or if you've got black stools, tarry stools, because that means there was blood in your poop.
And that can be from a bleeding ulcer and things like that.
Those are times when, instead of just reassuring you on the phone as a doctor, I'd say, you've got to come in so I can talk to you.
So now that everyone knows that, you ask accordingly.
Now you know what to worry about and what not to worry about.
Does that help you with your understanding at all?
Yeah, it definitely does.
Can I say something to everybody?
The truth is, your body's going to tell you when something is wrong.
All I want you all to do is listen to your bodies instead of your fears.
Now, we all have a cyber contract in our life.
Does anyone have a cyber contract they know of?

So, the best advice that I have is to keep calm and don't be a worrywart.

Even as his highly publicized split for Mariah Carey remains in the headlines, the multi-talented entertainer and father of twins is focused on his health after a very unexpected diagnosis.
I wake up in the hospital with a bunch of doctors telling me I got a kidney failure.
Nick would later be diagnosed with lupus, which was affecting his kidneys.
In his web series, Incredible Health Hustle, he documents his journey, which began two years ago while on vacation.
I was with my family in the snow, playing, having a good time.
All of a sudden, I started swelling up, having shortness of breath, excruciating pain in my right side.
After being treated and released, just one month later, Nick was once again in pain and back in the hospital with a much more serious condition.
I found two blood clots in my lungs.
With his health on the line, Nick got serious.
He cut back on his work schedule, followed a strict diet, and pushed himself to make his health a priority.
I'm eating the right things.
I'm doing all the proper exercises, and I feel just energized like I've never felt before.

Well, so are you!
Let's talk a little bit about lupus.
Sure.
When you were first diagnosed with having kidneys that were falling apart on you.
Right, right.
You said you were scared.
How are you feeling now?
I'm feeling great now.
I mean, keeping my health in tip-top shape, the doctor says.
I got a clean bill of health.
It is hard to diagnose lupus sometimes.
What happened in your case?
How did they figure it out?
Extremely.
At first, you know, it started, first they thought, you know, because I was, you know, in the mountains, they thought, oh, he's dehydrated.
It could be, you know, the whole thing, the, you know, elevation.
And then they said, no, maybe it's just a kidney infection.
And then from there, they realized it was lupus nephritis.
And from, you know, then, once they knew what it was, it's like, okay, we know what to do to fix it.
So lupus is an autoimmune disease.
Yes.
We all know that.
And it does tend to affect kidneys.
Have you ever seen Kidneys?
Not up close and personal, but you got a few over there hanging out.
This is a Dr. Oz show.
Here, here are your purple gloves.
I actually thought they'd match your outfit.
They did, perfectly.
Thank you for that.
It's very kind that you did.
The lupus colors, too.
Yes, they are.
So, kidneys are magical.
I mean, they're supposed to filter all the fluid out.
And they look like this normally.
So this is the big tube.
I might need some of those in a couple of years.
I hope not.
But that's obviously sometimes what happens in lupus is all the blood that goes through the kidneys so they can filter sometimes does this to your kidneys.
Yeah.
So this is the kidney.
I'll hold them right here.
This is the kidney of somebody who's had kidney failure.
Right.
You go ahead and hold that.
And you can feel a normal kidney.
And just describe that to everybody.
Oh, it feels like wet potatoes.
It's not bad.
It's not bad.
A mushy potato.
They've been described that way before, but pretty accurate.
And this was more like beef jerky.
Yeah.
You take your gloves off.
So let's talk about how you're going to recover from all this.
These are a couple of different problems.
They sometimes begin to snowball on you.
What's been the hardest part of changing your life?
I know you're a big fast food fan.
I was a big fast food fan.
Oh, past tense.
Yeah, yeah, because, you know, this condition happened in 2012, and I had to go on a strict renal diet, you know, because of my kidneys.
And, you know, I've been dealing with it.
I haven't had fast food since 2012, so I'm doing pretty well.
So besides food, what else are you doing?
Food, obviously lots of water, lots of exercise.
And you're doing all the preventive things.
You got your flu shot.
You're actually a paid spokesperson for Theraflu.
Yes, yes.
It's really cool.
I partner with Theraflu because they're doing good things.
Not only are they getting everybody flu ready with all the information and encouraging people for the vaccination, but the idea is that they're helping the community by giving back to Families Fighting Flu, a non-profit organization.
They're raising over $100,000 for them.
So I just try to get out there and just Thanks for doing it.
So, let me talk about stress for a second.
Sure.
Because stress is a big part of coping with lupus.
It's a big part of coping with life.
Yeah.
You've gone through a pretty public breakup with Mariah Carey.
Right, right, right.
You know what that is?
To me, like, no one likes to talk about their personal life in public, you know, especially when you're dealing with something like this.
But what you got to understand is, like, I understand that this is what we signed up for.
So, I try to, you know, remain as classy and as respectable and, you know, trying to be the best human being I could possibly be through this entire process.
And, you know, sometimes if the media wants to harbor on those type of things, you don't let it stretch you out because, you know, people are going to talk.
And I was taught a long time ago what other people think about me is none of my business.
You're absolutely right.
Stay focused.
You've always been a classy guy, and I'm not actually worried about what the media said about you.
I'm not actually talking about you personally.
Going through any kind of separation from someone you love is stressful.
How do you cope with that?
You know, the beautiful thing is that we're still family, man.
At the end of the day, we have two beautiful children, and we do what's best for our kids, and that's what life is all about.
You had some physical pain through this, unfortunately, because you've got this big tattoo.
Can I just show this to everybody?
I didn't realize how big this thing was, but we took a picture of it.
And now I have an even bigger tattoo.
So here's how you're covering it up.
What is this like?
Where'd you get these pictures from?
It's not finished yet.
You know what?
It looks different than that now.
Actually, you know, even other than the whole personal stuff, I just kind of fell in love with tattooing, and now I have a whole sleeve in my back.

People have been making fun of her because of her mental illness.
What do you have to say to those folks?
Oh man, I mean, this is such a beautiful young lady inside and out.
I mean, I've known her since she was nine years old and I consider someone like closest family.
So when you see someone going through something, a mental condition or any kind of condition, I mean, you know, because someone's acting a certain way because they don't have control over their mental capacity at the time, it really sad me.
So I had, you know, I usually don't want to speak out on other business a lot, but I had to step up and say, hey, Take note, you know, if this was someone in your family, if this was someone in a mental institution, you wouldn't poke fun and crack jokes or put cameras all in their face.
But because she's a public figure, we choose to do that.
It really saddened me.
So I wanted to step up and be, you know, that rock and that foundation for her.
And whenever she needed it, I was like, hey, call me, I'm here, whatever you need.
The good reminder always, pick it on someone, but I know this is never funny.
I don't care what the excuse is.
I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you.

You really have to give up anything that's very, very sweet.
And we're talking here about not just sugar, but a guave, guave nectar, honey, maple syrup, anything very sweet right now.

So, how are Katara and Shoniji doing today?
So difficult to be back home and give up sugar.
I did struggle a little bit.
I had to make sure that it tasted just right for the customer.
So, that's why I cheated.
It's carrot cake, so it has, you know, vegetables.
Oh my god, I haven't had this.
So good.
After stopping the sugar, we get this amazing phone call.
We were going to Italy to Dr. Fuhrman's detox getaway.

How are you?
How are you guys?
We were able to go and learn all these different ways to knock out the sugar habits.
I'm trying to get people to get rid of their sweet taste buds.
You're good!
It's not as sweet.
One of the things that Dr. Furman told us was, your taste buds will change.
And we were like, yeah.
Lies.
Lies.
But they have.
They have changed.
They have.
The Italy trip for me was a wake-up call.
OK, we're going to learn how to break our sugar addiction.
But at the end of the day, I actually learned that I can prevent myself and my family from going through all these diseases that take away our loved ones.
This change, it pretty much has happened immediately.
And I've been able to feel the difference in my body.
I'm not getting headaches anymore.
I don't feel as tired.
And of course, the weight loss.
I'm 15 pounds down.
I actually dropped 11 pounds.
I think it's only she dropped 15 because I started a week after her.
But, uh...
Catch you up.
I gotta catch you up.
We have done excellent with the tasting.
It's a sad day.
I'm not gonna do it though.
I'm gonna stay away.
Honestly though, we were using that tasting as a crutch.
We didn't need to do all that tasting.
We knew what that stuff was.
We needed to.

You guys have must have been so surprised when Dr. Fuhrman called you about that Italy trip.
Oh my God, it was amazing.
Life-changing.
Yes.
What'd you learn?
Well, for myself, what I learned most was the backstory behind why we don't need to eat so many of these things that we were eating.
Yeah.
So just learning exactly what The sugar and, you know, some of the other things we're doing to our bodies.
Sometimes you get on a lifestyle change or a diet and it's, oh, you just need to get on it so you can lose weight.
But Dr. Fuhrman actually taught us that we can prevent diseases.
We prevent all cancer, breast cancer, heart disease, headaches, all those things.
You don't have to go through those things if you just eat right.
And, you know, you feel better that day.
Those are all side benefits at the end.
You feel so good, it's not that hard.
So the last time you were here, we put you on this three-day sugar detox.
That was sort of the first step.
To sort of get you over the hump.
So Shaneeji, what was that like to be in that program?
Well, for me, I literally, the day after we left here, I was all in.
And it was so hard.
It was so hard because I didn't know what to do.
You know, like I said, it's one of those things where like in Italy, we learned all the backstory, but making a decision to just say, okay, I'm not going to eat sugar anymore without really knowing and really knowing what to do to substitute when I was getting those cravings.
And, you know, it was, it was a little crazy.
So, let's go back to the truth tube.
After the three-day hard part, we actually put you on a program.
And I'm going to reveal to you and everybody else what we found in terms of the amount of sugar you're taking in your body.
So when you came here the first time, Katara, we'll start with you.
Okay.
You acknowledged this is your food diary that you're having 136 grams of sugar a day.
That's a lot of sugar, folks.
Now, you're eating 61 grams of sugar.
I mean, it's a big difference, less than half.
Trinigi, she's high-fiving because she was in the same camp.
135. You guys are, you know, peas in a pod.
135 grams of sugar a day, just about the same.
And now you're eating 59 grams of sugar.
Dramatic streak again.
And can I say, the most important part for you all to recognize about this is not just that it's such a huge drop, but this sugar, the 59 grams, is all coming from natural sources.
So both of you have zero grams of added sugar.
I don't mind the sugar coming from the strawberries.
Strawberry syrup is a problem.
So this is great news.
I'm very proud of you all.
I have to ask, do you still consider yourselves addicted to sugar?
I do.
But not in a bad way.
It's something I can control.
You know, before that, I had to have sugar because I just had to have it and I didn't know a way to deny it.
But now if I decide to have something, it's because I made that decision.
So now I'm in control.
So not necessarily addicted, more of I'm in control and I can have what I want when I want it, but I know how to do it correctly now.
And Triniji, with the significant reduction of sugar, do you feel any change in your energy and your moods, which was a big problem for you earlier on?
Yes, tremendously.
I would get so fatigued, like halfway through the day, I would have headaches.
And now I haven't had any headaches.
I have a lot more energy.
I can get through my day.
My staff, they are like, oh, you're in a better mood today.
Nice.
Katara's saying the same.
Yes.
Yeah, so definite change.
Now, Katara, you were talking about the vegetable options in the bakery.
You included carrot cake in that discussion.
I did.
You were sort of resisting the cravings for carrot cake.
What's that like now?
Well, I can go in the bakery and I don't have those urges.
You know, because Dr. Fuhrman has introduced all of these natural sugars into our diet, we know now how to go and zap that really quick with some other options than cake.
Right.
On an everyday basis.
So now we just gotta get through Thanksgiving.

You gotta love honest women.
That was to me just a month ago.
I was a little worried about the Joel Fuhrman say no to sugar desserts, but now she and her baking partner, Katara, have kicked the sugar habit and they're about to show us just how they did it.
But please welcome renowned expert in nutrition and food addictions, Dr. Joe Furman, to the show.
Dr. Furman, you helped me get these bakers down from eating about 130 grams of sugar a day to 60 grams, which I got to applaud you.
It was amazing, despite this maneuver that was going on earlier on.
So the last time we were here, ladies, we gave you three steps to kicking sugar.
But now we're gonna turn the tables, because why don't you get your advice, because you guys are experts at this.
And if it works for you, it'll work for everybody.
So I want you to, if you can, over the course of this next segment, tell me how you made this Kicking the Sugar Addiction program your own.
The first step that everyone recommends is that sneaking beans into dessert is a must.
You guys did this.
Absolutely.
What did you do?
Well, with Dr. Fuhrman's advice, he has a great acronym.
It's G-BOMBS. And in that acronym, beans are included as things that we need to get in every day.
So with the brownies here, we actually added black beans.
To the brownies.
Yeah, and now Dr. Fuhrman has recipes, but, you know, we have to add our own little thing to it.
So, you know, we added extra nuts and things like that to really give it that decadent brownie taste.
I also heard you're sharing these in the bakery now with your customers.
We are, yes.
They love it.
Now they're going to know, but...
We actually put black beans, you know, in the black bean brownie, and people are coming back for seconds, and they don't even know that they're making themselves a lot healthier.
Right.
And still enjoying really good desserts.
It's smart, isn't it?
That's great.
Remember that beans have that second meal effect that we learned about?
Yes.
That means that they prevent the slowing the glucose absorption from other foods, even that are not the beans themselves.
They retard, so it lowers the glycemic effect of the whole meal because you had beans in your diet regularly.
Right.
Next tip was to make ice cream out of frozen fruit to fight the sugar craving.
I love this because you guys made it your own different ways.
Yes.
So who wants to go first?
Shanice, you want to go first?
Yeah.
I actually was dying to try this because, like I said, I went...
So am I. I went right in.
So basically what you want to do is start with frozen bananas, but just make sure that you actually peel the bananas before Please, pill them.
I made that mistake and that was no fun.
Not at all.
So, I use frozen bananas and you can use other frozen fruits.
There's like raspberries and things like that to give you different flavors.
I add coconut milk and a little almond milk to mine.
You don't want too much because you still want to have that ice cream consistency and just put it in a Vitamix and blend and it's so delicious.
Now, mine normally doesn't make it that far, but...
If you want to freeze it, you can add nuts to it so that it's easier to come back down to that consistency.
It won't be so, so hard the next time when you unfreeze.
You know what?
The most surprising thing is the consistency.
Yes.
It tastes like ice cream.
You can tell they work together.
That's the only way we survive.
I noticed you've got cocoa powder over here.
Is that recommended by Joel?
Well, I'm a chocolate girl.
I love everything that's chocolate.
So I actually use an unsweetened organic cocoa powder into mine.
So I did the frozen bananas, added the cocoa, and I really love sweets.
So I added some Majul dates, take the pits out, or it's gonna have some crunchy ice cream.
Put those in there and a little vanilla, a little non-alcoholic vanilla.
Oh, it's just like eating ice cream from any regular ice cream place.
As similar as you are with your addiction, your ability to make foods is so diverse.
These are opposite ends of the spectrum, and they're both fabulous.
All right, now you get this mango tip.
This is the on-the-go dessert.
It can work as a snack too, but it's primarily dessert, dried mango.
So, one of the things that I have to do after every meal is eat something as a dessert.
But this is a quick one on the go.
You can put this in your purse, put it in your office desk, or wherever you are, you can grab it and go and have that quick dessert.
This takes not even five minutes, but if you don't even have five minutes, this fresh mango is to die for.
This dry mango is absolutely delicious.
You didn't do it.
I'm sorry, I'm eating it now.
You learned about this modification of mangoes in Italy.
Yes, so we had a great dessert while we were in Italy, which was a mango pudding.
And it's basically using the dried mangoes.
Now, if you want to reconstitute the mangoes, that means bring it back to life.
So if you want to give it life, you can actually soak the mangoes in soy milk overnight so that it softens it up so it's easier to blend and things like that.
And a nice thing that you can also do is you can add, and this is soaked.
So another thing that you can do is add some frozen mango to the dried mango to make a nice sorbet.
And it's delicious.
You thawed everything.
Yeah.
And this is the cocoa version of that?
This is the pudding.
This is the actual mango pudding.
Now, I heard you may have been in trouble with the pudding.
And I don't know if that's true or not, I just heard rumors.
And, you know, banana pudding sometimes is hard to make, so I asked Joel.
I made a great banana pudding.
Oh, so you're a southern girl now?
Oh, he's a southern girl!
I made you a great banana pudding.
Using the secret ingredient you learned in Italy, which was the agar-agar.
Yeah, okay.
Because it's really easy, you just take a...
Well, you taste it.
You make CPIs like it.
Yes, absolutely.
So you take a tablespoon of the agar-agar to a full cup of water, and it makes it harden like Jell-O, a gelatinous, and you can add any fruit in there.
And this has Canelli beans in it, too.
This has beans and coconut and banana, and it can take the shape of the mold like Jell-O can.
And we can use it to make loaves and, you know, actually bean loaves and all kinds of desserts, fruit desserts, right?
We learned.

How did you go about the idea of using wine to clean your fruit?
Well, Dr. Oz, I am a huge germaphobe when it comes to food shopping with my groceries.
So, this is actually an old trick from my grandmother.
I love grandmommy trips.
And instead of cleaning it with soap, wine tastes much better than soap.
Much better.
Much, much, much better.
Show me how you do it.
So, you just take your fruit, you put it in a bowl.
You're going to fill the whole bowl with wine?
No.
You don't want to use it.
And I don't suggest soaking it in the wine.
Right.
No, no.
That's a whole different beverage.
Exactly.
A whole different.
It's called sangria.

And you just whisk it around on there.
Take it out.
Pat it dry.
Now, you can rinse it with water, but...
Like magic, it's clean.
Yeah, it's a clever idea.
So it turns out that wine, the alcohol obviously, but also the resveratrol, kills off some of the food pathogen bacteria.

The ones we don't want to have, like salmonella and E. coli.

So you say this is a whole new use of wine that no one would have ever thought of.
How does it work?
Yeah!
Oh my gosh, it's a lot of fun.
It's phenotherapy and all the celebrities are doing it.
It's really super.
It's very expensive.
So I found a way to do it on the cheap and it's using like the box wine and you just pour like a glass in your bath and you just soak in it.
That's it.
That's perfect.
Yeah.
I would drink the boxed wine, usually.
How long do you soak in the bath for?
Well, I do it about 30 minutes, and I do it, like, probably a couple of times a week.
And you know what?
You can have a little glass while you're sitting in the bathtub.
Let's look at your pores here.
They actually look quite good.
You know, it's a very ancient therapy.
It was done for centuries.
See, Cleopatra used to bathe in wine, apparently, and milk as well.
And we think it might work because the fermented grapes may actually firm the skin a little bit and help shrink those pores.
Yeah.
So if one glass gets you there, then sure save the money and drink the rest of the box.
That's right.
