You were going to commit suicide?
I am a lot happier with her around.
I have lots of enemies right now.
Moon Angel, will you marry me?
Plus, caught on tape, the couple who saved an 11-year-old girl.
Coming up next...
Are you ready for season 11?
My friend Dog the Bounty Hunter is used to dealing with anything the bad guys throw at him.
But in the past year, life has thrown more at him than anyone should have to deal with.
First, he lost his beloved wife, Beth, to cancer.
Then he had his own life-or-death health crisis.
Now, his family's in turmoil over rumors of a new romantic relationship.
Well, Dog is here exclusively today, and he's brought his rumored girlfriend, Moon Angel, with him so they can finally set the record straight on these tabloid headlines.
But my number one concern is my friend's health and how everything he's going through could still be hurting him.
Bring me the dog.
Get him, boy.
Dog the Bounty Hunter is known for his strength, courage, and compassion confronting criminals.
But when he came on our show this fall, he was struggling to confront his own grief over the death of his wife, Beth.
I keep having dreams, her in heaven, and I snuck up behind her.
I used to do that a lot.
And she turned around and said, Big Daddy, what took you so long?
I felt an immediate kinship with Dog, and when just a few weeks later, he was reported to have suffered a heart emergency, I rushed to Colorado to offer my support.
Hi, sir.
How are you?
Good.
I was worried about you.
Going through his medical records and examining the bounty hunter, I was alarmed.
148 over 97. Is that good?
No, you know that's not good.
No, I don't know.
I saw in the records Dog had checked out of the hospital against medical advice.
I confronted him.
Why'd you leave?
The truth, I got scared.
I'm looking at you and telling you as a friend, you're a ticking time bomb.
You aren't going to be here with the heart the way it is right now.
At my insistence, Dog did some urgent medical testing, and I brought him back in for a health intervention after his lung scan showed a pulmonary embolism.
I'm worried about your cigarettes, but I'm more worried about why you're smoking.
Will you commit today to seeing a therapist as soon as you go home, just yes or no?
Yes.
This is your family.
And those folks desperately want you around.
I'm gonna quit smoking cigarettes, and I'll use any technique, again, that's not a felony, to do that.
All right, I'll be here for you.
Dog promised to clean up his act, but now a new obstacle is threatening his recovery.
Recently, rumors have been flying that he has a new girlfriend, igniting a very volatile and public family feud.
Will Dog be able to find peace with his family again?
And what is all this stress doing to his fragile health?
Please welcome my friend, Dog the Bounty Hunter. - Love you. Dog the Bounty Hunter. - Love you.
Thank you.
Well, they love you, too.
You smell different?
I smell different?
You do smell different.
Not much cigarettes, isn't it?
No.
Well, go ahead and have a seat and talk about this.
Oh, thank you, sir.
You're absolutely right.
Thank you.
I always hug my friends who are smokers primarily to see if they're smoking.
And I... The hair gives it away, usually.
When was the last time you smoked?
Uh...
Four hours ago.
That's good.
I got my patch and...
Can I see it?
Yes, sir.
Oh, yeah.
Only one instead of two.
Just show that to the camera.
That's what the patch looks like, guys.
And only one because you're not as dependent on nicotine.
Correct.
Come have a seat.
Thank you.
You know how much that means to me?
Really.
Well, what got me was when you said you stink.
The doctor tells you that, right?
So, yeah, that got me.
Lots to talk about.
And, of course, I want to...
I'll talk about Moon Angel in a second, but you and I have some business first.
Yes, sir.
So, when you were on the show last, we made some big decisions about your health.
Cigarettes were a big part of it.
And, Dog, just to brag on you, you were smoking four packs a day.
Yes, sir.
Four packs a day, which means you can't go four hours without smoking.
No.
So, how many cigarettes a day are you smoking?
Less than a pack right now.
And I use the tip also, the little...
Yep.
Your general health, how do you grade yourself?
97. 97?
Yeah.
You're active?
You're sleeping?
Yes, sir.
You feel like you can catch bad guys?
You're the greyhound you can be right now?
Oh, yeah.
I'm the best I've ever been.
Look out.
Beware a dog.
All right.
So...
Without going through all the physical things, let me transition to where I think the big battle was, which is where your mind was at.
And the last time...
On the show, we got into it a little bit because I really thought you'd do well in therapy.
Yes.
How has that been, talking to somebody?
Her name is Amanda, and she's a shrink.
A real one.
A real one.
Yeah.
And it's like talking to your parents and admitting stuff.
So it helps.
I'm a talker, so it helps me to talk.
Thank you very much.
So I was at a coffee shop over the weekend.
And I opened up the New York Times, the paper of record, and I saw this picture.
Just an unbelievable profile, front of the section, profile.
And it's been seven months since you lost Beth?
Yes, sir.
And in the article, you said something that I thought was very beautiful, very profound.
You said, I need love.
I'm needy.
I'm so needy.
Yeah.
So there are rumors flying around that you have a new girlfriend, that Moon Angel, a longtime family friend, Is your new girlfriend.
Are you dating Moon?
No.
You're not?
No, sir.
Despite what all the tabloids are reporting?
No, sir.
They reported three days ago I had committed suicide again.
Again.
Gosh.
So let me ask you just man-to-man on this.
Yes, sir.
Do you have a desire to be intimate, to have sex right now?
Well, not as much.
I mean, the thought is always there, but not the need and the must-have.
I've learned to love without that.
Oh, I cry every time I'm on this show.
But I can hang, but...
So what does moon represent to you?
My dearest friend.
And it's a brighter world right now when she's in it.
Fair enough.
So Moon has been a close family friend for years.
Her son, Justin, was even referred to as Dog's nephew on their reality show.
But he was just arrested for violating the terms of his probation.
And according to TMZ, it was because your daughter, Lisa, tipped them off.
Called the authorities.
Sad.
Very sad.
So why would Lisa do that to him?
You know, I don't know.
That's beyond my comprehension or Above my pay scale.
All right, we're coming up.
Moon is here to respond to the shocking headlines, and she's also revealing the side of dogs she wants more people to know about.
We'll be right back.
Every Monday in February on Oz, cameras are everywhere, and we're bringing you shocking video of people caught in the act.
Blowing through red light!
Get against the wall.
The car began to roll over my body.
The good.
Come here.
The bad.
And the outrageous.
Oh my god!
every Monday in February on Oz.
I'm back at the exclusive movie with Dog the Bounty Hunter, We're also joined by his longtime friend, Moon Angel.
Now in the press, she's been referred to as his girlfriend.
Simone, I'm gonna just understand what's really happening, because I know the tabloids don't often get it right.
You are living in Dog's house.
As of right now, yes.
How would you define your relationship with him?
I've actually lived with them quite a few times in my 21 years.
I first started off in a home with them in Hawaii.
So this isn't new to me.
So to me, I would have to say that he's my best friend.
Beth was my best friend.
They're my friends.
And I'm here because my friend's in need and he needed help.
So I just took it in, you know, God's hands and went, all right, let's do this.
What do I need to do for you?
Here we are.
What was going on when you called her?
Why were you so upset that day?
Well, I couldn't stop crying.
And I was, you know, I'm not, again, I'm Apache.
I wasn't going to commit suicide with a gun or something.
I was going to take a lot of pills because she left, Beth left all her big pills there.
So I thought, you know, I just need one drink of water.
You were going to commit suicide?
Oh, yeah.
What made you choose life over death?
She's pretty rough, this one.
She's pretty...
I say brutally honest.
I say brutal.
Brutally honest.
I don't go in and out.
It's one way, and this is the way we're going to do it.
It needs to get going.
We need to get back on the show and get him busy again.
Would you call your relationship intimate?
It has to be intimate because there's a lot of powerful things going on with dog.
You appreciate why many people watching right now are thinking, for them to be that close emotionally, it has to be a physical connection too.
You want me to answer that?
Yes.
Okay, no.
Beth was my best friend.
Dwayne is my best friend.
I'm not crossing that line.
So, dog, Lisa, your daughter, tweeted her shock at discovering that you had taken Beth's clothes out of the closet in the bedroom and put your clothes in there.
So, why would you want to move into Beth's closet?
Yeah.
Here's what happened.
When I got into the house, he would walk by the closet and bawl, and walk by the closet and bawl, and shut the door, and then open the door, and then he would go in, and I think this is pretty intimate, but he would smell Beth, and he would go in there and sit down and cry and cry and cry, and he asked me, Do you think that you could take Beth's things out of the closet?
So it wasn't a negative thing.
It was because he just couldn't do it anymore.
That was tough to walk by the closet, dog?
Well, she needs to finish her story, so once she did it, I was, like, relieved, and then I walked...
Please.
I walked by, and it was empty, and I'm like, oh, God.
I said, Moon, put some of your stuff in there.
She said, no.
I said, Moon, it's an order.
And she did it.
Then there's a video that you post, and people, Moon and Dog, people follow you guys really closely.
It seems like, Moon, you're lying in Dog's bed, watching television.
Right.
So, you know, this is a video of it.
Right.
So, Dog, does Moon sleep in your bed?
No, but that's the only room that has a TV, so everybody comes in my room, so that's the family room, my bedroom.
So, Doug, what would Beth, what is Beth saying about everything that's happened the last couple weeks?
Well, one time she said, if something would happen, because I always said, you're not going to die.
Don't worry, you're not going to die.
I held that to the very last breath.
You're not dying.
And she said, I want you to be happy.
And I didn't tell you I was going to do this.
This is a Dr. Oz show.
I think this will put a stop to a lot of this.
Moon Angel, will you marry me?
What?
What are you saying?
We're friends, Dwayne.
I love you as a friend.
That's it.
That's the test.
So no, you won't, right?
I can't marry you.
You can say no, it's all right.
Right at this very moment, I don't see you as that.
I love you and Beth as my friends.
I know, but I want everyone else to know.
Oh.
Oh, I got you.
Thank you.
I'm like, wait a minute, what are you doing to me?
I got you.
I'm like, wait, what are you doing to me?
Oh, my goodness.
Oh, my God.
Can I bounce you from that rock to a different one?
Sure.
Please.
How do you feel about Dog's daughter, Lisa, taking out your son, reporting him for violating his parole?
Probation.
Probation.
Yeah.
I truly believe that there's a lot of things that led up to that.
It got a little skeptical because I think she was in fear now because of how close we were.
So I think she was intimidated and that's what caused the roller effect and the only way she could get to me And maybe I would stop doing my friendship and leave and whatever was to hurt my son.
So I think it's just a hit when she can and then it's a fight for us to figure it out.
And I just don't understand why she's doing it.
Sorry, Justin was violated for drinking.
Justin's got a problem.
He doesn't know how to stop drinking once he starts.
So that's where it happens.
And Lisa is the same way.
She drinks, she gets drunk, and as you know on the media, when she's drunk, she, you know, says a whole bunch of stuff.
Are they both alcoholics?
Yes.
Most definitely.
Both of them.
It hurts me a lot to hear the struggles that the kids are having because it's hurting my friend, Dog.
So I want to make things right between Dog and your daughter, Lisa, if I can.
Thank you.
So I want you guys, when we come back, to watch a video of me talking to Lisa.
Okay.
You both watching?
Thank you.
Yes, sir.
All right.
All right, stay with us.
Thank you.
Susan Smith, still behind bars for killing her sons.
She wanted to end her life.
The prison guard and the affair that no one knew about until now.
Did Susan Smith seduce you?
That's coming up tomorrow.
I'm back with Dog, the bounty hunter, and his close friend, Moon, who's been helping him deal with the devastating loss of his wife, Beth.
The shift in their relationship has caused a lot of turmoil within his family, especially his daughter, Lisa, which I really hate to see because I've witnessed the love, the deep love they have for each other firsthand.
Doug, I want you to watch this if you can.
It really warmed my heart.
Why did you get on a plane, fly all the way here, and then your dad said not to come?
There's no one in this world that was gonna keep me away.
I mean, I love him, and I wanted to make sure he was okay.
I think he didn't want me here, because he doesn't want to see us seeing him weak.
You lonely dog?
With the kids around, I don't get, but then they'll leave.
Everything's different.
Everything.
As a father and daughter who love each other very much, just starting to deal with that seismic shift in your life, dog.
I don't want the cracks between you and Lisa getting any larger, any wider.
Thank you very much.
I owe you, Dr. Oz, more than my life.
The question is, what are we going to do about this?
So, in order to heal my friend Dog, we're gonna have to deal with you and Lisa.
You're right.
I'm not going anywhere.
Yeah, well, I understand that you're a rock.
You're gonna be around.
I also appreciate that you're sort of at an impasse now.
But someone's gonna have to be the best person.
I think that everybody is forgivable, and I believe that as the older person, a more experienced person, I don't have hate in me, and one thing I learned as a child was forgive quickly.
So, Dogg, part of this is about you and where you're headed, and be honest about that.
Yes, sir.
So let's just say, if Lisa was okay with it, and this relationship Which I understand the intimacy of it, gets even stronger.
Would you actually ask Moon to marry you?
Yes.
Yes.
No?
I just think that...
Don't hurt my feelings, though.
I think he's an amazing human being, but I've known him before he was famous.
So to me, he's my best friend and he'll always be my best friend.
I don't see myself thinking past that.
You can't predict the future.
Right.
But I suspect you're part of his future.
Right.
I see a lot of emotions sitting next to you.
Yeah.
And I studied this, okay?
I do a lot of...
Google is my...
I got a college education.
And...
A lot of guys fall in love with their wife's best friend.
Every day, she talks about her.
And I've got to have someone that loves Beth.
That's just how I am.
Cherkawa.
Do you love Moon?
Yes.
Well, here's the thing about Beth, too.
People don't understand that.
I love Beth.
She was my best friend.
To take it and twist it and make it ugly, I just don't understand how people can do that.
I think Dog's having a different conversation.
Right.
So, Dog, if I can do anything to help you at any level.
You have.
You have a lot.
This is incredible.
But I want to double down on Lisa.
I didn't realize the drinking issues, and I don't want your son going through more pain either.
So maybe we double down with those issues, because without those being solved, I don't think either you're going to feel comfortable doing what you really want to do in life.
I want you guys out there catching bad guys on television.
You good on that, brother?
Yes, sir.
Thank you.
Bless you both.
Thank you so much.
Love you, doctor.
Love you, too.
We'll be right back.
Up next, a daytime exclusive with a crime-fighting couple who helped save an 11-year-old girl from being abducted.
Their dramatic pursuit was caught on tape, and they're revealing what happened in those heart-stopping minutes that you have to see to believe.
This is video of an 11-year-old girl walking home from the bus before she was abducted.
Police in the community worried they'd never see her again, but the quick thinking of one couple led to a dramatic chase after the alleged kidnapper's car and a rescue that no one saw coming.
Today, a daytime exclusive with the crime-fighting couple who helped save a kidnapped 11-year-old girl.
Yes, it's him, it's him, it's him.
This is cell phone footage taken by a couple as they chase down a suspected kidnapper.
And they're doing 100 miles an hour right now.
He just blew through the red lights!
He's blowing through red lights!
He's blowing through red lights!
It all started January 15th at 1.26 p.m.
when Springfield, Massachusetts police received a frantic phone call.
An 11-year-old girl, Charlotte, pictured in this surveillance footage, had been abducted after getting off her school bus.
At 1.53 p.m., police released a social media alert.
The suspect was described as a white or Hispanic male driving a blue Honda with tinted windows, a moonroof, distinctive aftermarket rims, and no front plate.
By 5 p.m., police issued an Amber Alert.
Calls started pouring in.
One came from Benny and Amanda, who spotted the car around 6.30 that evening.
I see somebody in the backseat shoving something down and a light-skinned Puerto Rican man in a black hoodie driving.
Hispanic male.
The couple stayed in touch with a 911 operator throughout.
Then an alarming setback.
Look for lights.
Is that him?
They lose sight of the suspect.
No, that's not him.
He got away from me.
Joining us in a daytime exclusive, Benny and Amanda.
First of all, congratulations.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
For stepping up and doing something about it.
But I want to understand how this all unfolded, because it is absolutely miraculous.
So, you saw the Amber Alert, Amanda, right?
Yes.
And you had realized there was an 11-year-old missing already, because there'd be some social media feeds.
What about the car description stuck out to you and your husband?
Well, I'm married to a mechanic.
So anything that has to do with cars, he has to talk to me about it.
I built the car since I was five years old, so this is all I know.
This is pretty much cars, cars, cars, and it beats it in her head.
So when we saw the car in the picture, it was not like a normal car.
They did a lot of mods, aftermarket.
Those wheels don't go to that car.
That car's not at the right height.
The front lip is added to it.
The fog lights, just nothing matched what was supposed to go to that car.
So there couldn't be more than one We've gone out in our city.
So describe what happened when you spied this vehicle, which to your eyes was not normal, but most of us would have just gone by the color and missed it.
Well, our day started off really wrong.
We were in the ER with our son, who was sick.
The night before.
The night before.
We got out in the morning time, and we were supposed to go to a completely opposite grocery store.
And it just so happens when we're leaving the grocery store, We're at a stop sign and he speeds right by us.
And my husband goes, those are the wheels.
Pull up that picture.
As they were driving.
As we were driving.
He was like, get on Facebook.
Show me that picture.
So I pull it up and we're right next to it.
And we're just zooming in and we're going through wheels.
We're going through no front license plate.
The only thing that didn't match was the driver.
So as we took a left with him and we got under a street light, my husband put a high beam when he was stopped.
And I have cat eyes.
I can see in the dark.
They're green.
I can see.
Yes.
And his tints were so dark, and I seen something flaring in the backseat, something small, like they were fighting.
And that's when we got on the phone with 911. And we knew this was the car, no matter what the description said.
Like the driver was pushing down your flailing arm?
Yes.
Oh, my goodness.
So as a mom, what was it like to realize that this missing girl, this child, was in a car being kidnapped?
At that point, we just...
We have four kids, and...
That's all that ran through my mind was that, what if that was one of my...
That could have been...
That's my neighborhood.
That could have been my daughter getting out of school.
That's my neighborhood right around the corner.
I had to do something about it.
I didn't want to be the guy that...
Made a phone call and text a tip and said, hey, I seen that car on this road.
No, I found that car on this road.
Follow me.
I'm following the car.
Follow me.
I'm going that direction.
The direction the car's going, I'm right behind him.
Come to me.
Everybody come to me.
Folks, this is the power of one.
Or in this case, power of two.
Yes.
That's what I'm talking about.
Betty and Amanda followed the vehicle for eight minutes while staying on the phone with the police.
And they didn't realize their 10-year-old child was recording the pursuit from the backseat.
This is not their video.
This is their child doing what most kids do.
You're peering in there.
What's mom and dad doing?
I mean, how fast were you going, Betty?
I thought at the moment I was going 100 miles an hour right behind him, but I really wasn't.
I was going about 60, 65. But I was slowing down for red lights as he was going through them because, like you said, I had my kids in the car.
I made sure I played it safe.
I didn't get dangerous.
So while you're in pursuit, the other driver notices that you guys were tailing him.
That's when he started to speed up really fast.
That's when he picked up high RPMs.
You could hear that car screaming like it said, like, slow down, slow down, slow down, because he was screaming going down the street, in and out of cars, in between traffic, in between traffic cars.
I mean, in between tractor trailers.
He didn't care.
He wanted to get away.
He knew he did wrong, and he knew he wanted to get away.
And I didn't let him.
Were you scared during that procedure?
Your husband, obviously, is a mechanic, but this is still high speed.
His driving?
No, not his driving.
You're chasing after a bad guy, and he's going pretty fast, and he could also turn on you.
Were you concerned at all?
No.
I was concerned for the little girl.
Like, I just wanted her parents to know, like, she's here.
She's in that car, and she's coming home.
The police are coming there.
She's coming home.
So, the part about the video that really captured my attention was the pain in your voices when you lost sight of the car.
I want everyone to hear this with me.
Look for lights.
Look for lights.
Was that him?
No, that's not him.
That's not him.
That's not him.
I found that son of a.
Hold on!
We're on the bridge going over to Fuller Road.
Going over the bridge to Fuller Road towards Chicopee.
He probably jumped on the highway.
We have to stop, baby.
Look.
Look for the car.
I'm looking for the car, baby.
Nothing.
Look for the car.
Look for the car.
We're gonna run out of gas.
Look for the car.
That little girl's in that car.
Look for the car!
Find out what happens next in this stunning pursuit and how the 11-year-old girl was finally reunited with her family.
Every Friday in February, it's Celebrity Superfan Takeover.
Kathy Lee Gifford, Morris Chestnut, Tia Mowry, and Susan Lucci share the stage with their favorite doctor.
Only on Oz.
That's him!
It's him.
It's him.
And they're doing 100 miles an hour right now.
He just blew through a red light.
He's blowing through red lights.
He's blowing through red lights.
Look for lights.
Look for lights.
Was that him?
No, that's not him.
That's not him.
That's not him.
I found that son of a.
We have to stop.
Look.
Look for the car.
I'm looking for the car.
I'm not stopping for nothing.
Look for the car.
Look for the car.
We're going to run out of class.
Look for the car.
That little girl's in that car.
Look for the car.
We're back with our daytime exclusive with the crime-fighting couple who saved an 11-year-old girl who was abducted by a stranger.
Now, Benny and Amanda pursued the car of the suspected kidnapper after seeing an Amber Alert.
So your chase ends when you lose sight of the car.
Yes.
What were you feeling as a mom when you realized that little girl who you'd see in the back flailing around had again been taken off and had disappeared?
We felt that we failed her.
As a parent, as...
We failed her.
You know, um...
It's okay.
I hate thinking about that.
It's okay.
We feel like we failed.
So, at that moment in time, it just felt like...
Man, we could have pretty much watched one of our children just drive away from us in somebody else's car.
Like, that could have been one of ours.
And...
It was devastating.
It was heartbreaking.
It was the most emotional.
And we just didn't know what to do.
Well, it turns out you did just enough.
Because moments later, police apprehended the suspected kidnapper at a construction stop and saved that little girl.
But what was it like when you heard that actually that little girl had been saved because you guys had trailed that guy?
When we heard the helicopters, we started screaming because we were like...
Like the Giants won the Super Bowl.
We had the right car.
We started bugging.
I mean, the whole neighborhood was turning on lights.
They were like, what's going on out there?
And we were just screaming.
Yeah, like we won the lottery.
So let me share some of the most sobering realities of what happened.
This guy, Miguel Rodriguez, he's being charged.
He's the kidnapper.
He's being charged with three accounts of aggravated rape of a child with force, a single account of indecent assault, and battery, among other charges, including the kidnapping.
Now, he's pleaded not guilty.
We reached out to Miguel Rodriguez's public counsel.
They've declined to comment at this time because it's an ongoing matter, which I completely understand.
Amanda, you've been texting the family of this 11-year-old girl.
What has their family said to you and Benny about your effort?
They love us so much.
That we're family.
Yep, we're definitely family.
Barbecues in the future.
Yep, barbecues in the future.
Maybe pre-mechanical fix-ups.
Absolutely.
It works both ways.
Yes, sir.
You are family.
You probably always were, just now you know it for sure.
Yeah, for sure.
So what about the criticism that you've received of people saying you're driving fast with your kids in the backseat?
Would you do anything differently?
No.
No.
No, honestly, I just wish we were more calmer during the situation.
But I wouldn't change it.
I would go after anybody's kids.
You guys were exactly who you needed.
You needed just what you had to do.
Thank you for being yourselves, for using the power of one, or in your case, two, to change the world.
All right, before I do that, I want to get security specialists and former NYPD police officer Bill Stanton made on this.
First of all, what do you think of Betty and Amanda?
They need their own TV show.
I was thinking!
They're gonna put me out of work, Doc.
I gotta tell you, they did a phenomenal job.
I see a show of your future.
Well, what they did was both brave and admirable, and they did many, many things right.
I give them an A. Post-incident analysis, there are some things that could have tweaked.
But that being said, there are police departments that don't even act like they act.
Some of the things they could have done...
They were chasing him.
Now, what they don't know, and how police departments actually modified this, they de-accelerate.
They don't accelerate.
They shouldn't high-beam the person because now you're tipping that bad guy off.
Go covert, not overt.
Properly identify the car.
Make sure that's the right person.
They did that.
That's right.
They knew about the hubcaps, which I wouldn't have noticed, but they also noticed the front plate.
But whatever it is, we specifically pick up on those things.
Right, and they funneled it to the police in real time.
Sound the alarm.
They actually did that.
You sound the alarm, and you could do that if it's not particularly in a car.
If it was just like, first you have to identify, is this the bad guy, as you said.
Second, sound the alarm.
Call 911. Yell to other people.
Just don't let the other guy know.
And then finally, take action.
Whether it's what they did call 911, or...
Take kinetic action.
Intervene, but know your capabilities before you do anything like that.
And Benny's a big boy.
I think he has capabilities.
I do, too.
Up next, take a look at this horrifying video caught on a security camera.
What would you do if someone came at you with a knife?
Watch carefully.
See the knife right there in the circle?
Split-second decision that saved my next guest's life.
You'll hear it here.
This undercover mom spent seven days online to catch a predator.
How many grown men try to make contact with the 11-year-old version of you?
52 men.
52?
That's coming up on Wednesday.
We're back with "Brazing Crimes Caught in the Act." Robberies, kidnappings, and violent assaults can all happen within a matter of seconds.
What would you do in that fight-or-flight moment?
Some of the videos you're about to see may be disturbing to watch.
Doorbell cameras catching brazen crimes happening right on your doorstep.
Like robbers forcing this man into his own home at gunpoint.
Here, a realtor is attacked by a potential buyer.
And here, a doorbell cam captured the blood-curdling screams of a woman, prompting an investigation into a possible kidnapping.
There are eyes everywhere, not just doorbell cams, but security video capturing outrageous and terrifying crimes.
Here, a man without warning stabs an unsuspecting pedestrian.
Police in LA posted this video of three men in a road rage dispute.
One of the suspects punches the victim.
He collapses.
The attackers flee, leaving him for dead.
Las Vegas police use this doorbell cam footage to identify and arrest a man accused of brutally kidnapping a woman.
Open that door.
Hands, let me see your hands.
Step out of here.
Step out.
The Fort Worth Police Department released this body cam footage depicting the dramatic rescue of a kidnapped eight-year-old hidden in a laundry basket.
We got her.
Get against the wall.
This wall over here.
This wall over here.
Don't turn around.
Turn around.
I'm going to shoot you in your leg.
This way.
Another doorbell camera records a couple robbed at gunpoint.
No!
No!
And here, a woman is chased, seized, and beaten by her enraged boyfriend.
In this surveillance footage, a man armed with a knife enters a Pomona, California business demanding money.
To his surprise, the lone employee strikes back with a vengeance, lunging for the knife and fiercely fighting back.
Ultimately, she chases the intruder from the office.
Oh my goodness.
Joining us now via Zoom is Concepcion, who we just saw fight off a vicious attack.
Concepcion, I don't know how you did it, but you say it was just another day at the office until this customer came in.
Who was he?
I'm actually, I was just here.
I had a couple customers and then after they left, he went ahead.
He came in.
When he came in, he asked me for a quote.
He had a VIN number of a car on a piece of paper.
It was pretty normal.
When I asked him for his name or for his ID, that's when he said, oh, I can come back with all the information.
He came back about 20, 30 minutes later around 2, 33 o'clock.
I had just finished with another customer who was Buying a car, they were actually paying the guy here for the car.
So they were counting about $3,000 to $5,000 in front of me.
And then that's when he came back after they left.
And when he came back, he went ahead next to me.
He pulled out a knife.
He asked me for the money that they had just given me, and I said, no.
I thought a stern no was fine.
When it wasn't, that's when I had a knife.
Stood up, and when I saw he wasn't gonna leave, that's when I reached for the knife.
And when I reached for the knife, he went ahead, just pulled my hair.
Well, I'm watching this video here.
I can't believe how ferociously you fought back.
You were thrown into a wall.
And what's going through your mind?
Are you holding the knife, by the way, in the middle of all this?
You've got your fingers on his hands, right?
Mm-hmm.
Um, I don't, I honestly don't know.
I mean, it was, it was just more of, it's not his, it's mine.
You know, I'm here all day.
I was really busy that day.
So it was, I knew how much money I actually had and the volume that I had coming in that day.
And I mean, I, I worked so hard.
I was here all day from morning till we closed about like four times a week.
So I just didn't think it was fair.
What?
Well, I mean, clearly it wasn't fair, but most people watching right now would not do it.
That was like an MMA fight.
You guys are...
But the fact that you can hold on...
I mean, I'm amazed you're alive.
Concepcion's attacker was eventually caught.
Numerous reports were received revealing he had hit other businesses in the same area.
He was charged with multiple felony counts of robbery, attempted robbery, and one account of assault with a deadly weapon, which he just all witnessed.
We reached out to the suspect's public defender, and they declined to comment at this time.
Concepcion, thank you very much, and I gotta say, whatever you're doing to get strong, keep doing it.
So everybody, situations like this could happen to any one of us.
So how can we protect ourselves from these brazen crimes we've seen caught on video?
Security and safety expert Bill Stanton joins us.
So you say these types of brazen attacks, they happen in mere seconds.
You don't have a lot of time to react.
So how do you respond if we are attacked randomly?
So let's say I'm the guy with the knife.
Right.
And your conception's sitting there, so I've got the knife like this.
Right, so you have to properly identify, and it's a fight-or-flight complex, and you need to know if you're gonna fight, that's a personal choice, and if you're gonna fight, you fight for your life.
So it can happen in any second.
So the first thing to do is create distance.
All of a sudden, get away!
Help!
Help!
Get away!
You're creating that distance, right?
And now you have that knife, and I'm fighting for my life.
I'm gonna throw this at you, right?
And I'm gonna create that distance, and I'm gonna look to get you in the head in the hand, and then I'm gonna go, and then I'm gonna get out of dodge as soon as I can, yelling all the way.
All right, so that was very effective.
So, noise, loud, distance, defense, using tools.
And this is the issue of distraction.
Yes.
And this is something that I had a little personal experience with, but I want you to go through with the audience first.
Okay.
Ladies, you're carrying your handbag.
Tell me what is in this bag that is worth more than your life.
We have a wallet here.
There's some makeup here.
If someone goes to take that bag...
Give it to them.
Nothing is worth your life that's in that bag.
Little tip, I carry my wallet in one pocket, cash in another.
Know that.
If your back is against the wall and they're coming to take your cash, throw it!
Yeah.
Take it, run the other way, because that's what they want.
While you're going for the cash, I'm making the dash.
So when I was a resident training in Manhattan, but a part of Manhattan that had a lot of crime, they would put money in our pockets as residents and said, if anyone comes up to you, take the money, drop it on the ground, and run.
That's right, because that's what, more times than not, they want.
Give it to them, distract them, get out of Dodge.
You can check out Bill's book, It's Prepared Not Scared, for more helpful tips on how to stay safe.
Thank you very much for making a lot of noise.
We'll be right back.
I could set you on something else.
System 20 is the most successful January plan we have ever launched.
And I'm so proud of all of you for your success.
You are losing weight, you're sleeping more, reporting that you feel healthy again, sometimes for the first time in years.
Sure, that makes me happy, but what I'm most thrilled about is that you're evolving the system to fit your real lives and coming up with these genius hacks that you're sharing with each other.
Take a look at this one from Joyce.
She has a secret she uses to squash her cravings that you all could use.
Sometimes I get, like, a pizza craving in my head, and it gets worse and worse as the day goes on.
So what I've been doing is meditating and imagining that I buy a whole pizza, open it up, and there's maggots in there.
And that's helped.
So I love that idea so much.
We brought Joyce in.
She's here.
This is what Joyce looked like before System 20. And let's see her today.
Come on out, Joyce.
- Whoa! - Congratulations.
Oh my goodness.
Thank you, Dr. Oz.
You hacked your brain.
I hacked my brain.
One of the reasons for meditation, you can use that.
So how much weight have you lost?
Fifteen pounds.
Dr. Oz, that's through Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.
You beat all the bad boys back.
If you lose weight during the holidays, think of what you're gonna do when you're not being tempted.
Fifteen pounds.
Why was the mental tip so effective?
Sometimes, especially in the morning, if someone says the word pizza, and it just starts to eat at you, and it gets bigger and bigger and bigger until, you know, I'm driving home, I have something ready at home to eat, I go right to the pizza parlor and buy some pizza.
That's bad.
Well, I'll give you a little food hack, because I love your mind hack so well.
If you fall prey and you can't get past the pizza desire, go for the cauliflower pizza.
Not so bad.
God bless you.
Thank you.
And for so many of you who had some great ideas, thank you so much for making part of this puzzle fit together.
Remember, the power of change lies in the power of you.
