DAILY TRUTH - Experiencing Persecution

Daily Truth host argues persecution is inevitable for Christians, citing Matthew 4:4 and 1 Peter 3:16 to claim that avoiding it requires failing to model Christ's character. He asserts deeds alone build humanitarians, not disciples, unless explicitly coupled with words submitting to Christ's Lordship, a stance he admits leads to cowardice rather than courage. The segment concludes by urging immediate registration for the nearly sold-out Theonomy and Post Millennialism Conference on May 5th–7th, featuring speakers like James White and Joe Boot, before the limited 525-seat venue fills up. Preaching With Deeds And Words 00:05:24
Hey guys, real quick before we get started, I have a small request.
If you've been blessed by our content and you like this show, would you take just a brief moment and leave us a five star review?
This is quite possibly the most effective thing that you can do to ensure that this content gets out to as many people as possible.
Thanks.
Jesus said, Man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
You're listening to Daily Truth.
1 Peter 3, verse 16 says, Having a good conscience, so that when you are slandered, notice that.
Not if, when, right?
Did Jesus not tell us the world will hate you?
Jesus said, Do not be deceived.
The student is not above the teacher, the slave is not superior to the master.
If the world hated me, if they persecuted me, they will persecute you.
The only way to escape persecution for the name of Christ is.
As a Christian, is to be very careful and very diligent, very meticulous to make sure you don't look anything like Christ.
Which some of us have done very well.
I, at times, my bad.
Got two mics, still getting used to it.
I, at times, have done that very well.
I've been cowardly when I should have been courageous.
Believe it or not.
You guys are like, really?
More courage?
You think that's your deficiency?
More, more.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And there's been times where I should have been more courageous.
There's been times when I should have been more careful.
Both.
There have been times where I did not look like Jesus.
And if I had, here's the point if I had, then people wouldn't be upset.
That was the problem.
People were upset because I didn't look like Jesus.
Nope.
If I looked more like Jesus, more people would have been upset.
Not less.
Now, those people may have changed, right?
So some people who love Jesus would have been less upset, but a host of people who don't love Jesus would have been more upset.
Do you understand?
Being above reproach, it's being quick to confess your sins and modeling spiritual maturity at the realm of not just competency, but at the realm of character.
It is looking like Jesus.
And when we look like Jesus, not just in deeds, I've said this multiple times in our church, but what the world needs when it comes to the work of an evangelist is not just for you and I to be minds for Jesus.
That's what a lot of us want to do, right?
Relational evangelism and just miming out the gospel through good deeds.
Like, there's something for that.
The Bible says, do your good deeds, let your good deeds shine before men so that they might glorify your Father who is in heaven.
But do you know how they glorify your Father who is in heaven?
Because you have good deeds coupled with words, right?
Romans 10 14.
How will they believe?
Unless they hear, how will they hear?
Unless someone.
Preaches, not mimes, preaches.
Words, not just good deeds.
The person who is glorifying your Father in heaven because they see your good deeds, it's because coupled with your good deeds, you've also said, I'm submitted to the Lordship of Christ.
I don't get praise.
I don't get credit for this.
This is a work of God.
God is the source of all love.
I wouldn't be loving you as I am if it were not for the ways that God has first loved me.
Those kinds of things.
See, if it's not coupled with words, if it's just Deeds, good deeds, then you know what that does?
It builds people's faith in our Father in heaven?
No.
It builds people's faith further in simply the power of humanity, the innate good of people.
That doesn't evangelize souls for Christ.
That simply disciples and he further equips and builds more humanitarians.
There are many Christians right now who the fruit of their discipleship is not Christians but humanitarians.
Why?
Because they're doing good deeds without glorifying the Father in heaven by words.
There's a problem with that.
But when we use words and deeds, when we truly look like Christ, right?
Jesus even said, For which of these miracles, which of my deeds are you opposing me?
Are you wanting to kill me?
And what does his opposition say?
None of them.
So why were they opposing him?
Well, they made it very clear.
It's for your words.
Your words, Jesus' words, are what got him in trouble.
People didn't kill Jesus because he was feeding the 5,000.
People don't oppose someone for giving away free lunch.
They oppose someone for preaching the gospel, which the scripture calls an offense.
And if we use both deeds and words, aka look like Jesus, we will be opposed.
Houston, we have a problem.
Conference Seats About To Sell Out 00:01:34
I repeat, we have a problem.
Our conference is about to sell out.
I mean, about to sell out.
We probably have about 75 to 100 seats.
Left.
Our venue holds about 525 to 550 seats, and we currently have 450 people who are registered for this conference.
The excitement is tangible.
A lot of people registered because they wanted to hit the early bird rate.
We're now at our normal rate $130 for an adult, $50 for a kid who's 11 to 17 years old, and kids 10 and under get in free.
You can bring the whole family.
But the problem is not that we're going to raise the rate again, the problem is we're going to run out of tickets and we're going to run out pretty fast.
Again, We've got about a hundred seats or less.
Four hundred and fifty people, six months out, are already registered for this conference.
We don't want you to miss it.
So, to ensure that you get to make it to this conference, you need to register not a month from now, not a week from now, not tomorrow, but today.
