Chapter 4, verse 12, let no one despise you.
Remember, Timothy is a young man, and not just a young man, but he is a young pastor in a local church at Ephesus.
And Paul writes to him and says, Young man, young pastor, let no one despise you for your youth.
And Paul, of course, is writing this arbitrarily.
Nobody would ever despise a pastor simply because he's young.
I'm sure Timothy never experienced that, and Paul just wanted to throw it in there just in case.
I'm being facetious and sarcastic.
He was being despised.
Not because he wasn't qualified, but simply because of his age.
Because there's always an inclination for the world that hates God, but even in the church, even with those who truly are regenerate Christians, because of remaining sin, there will always be an inclination to try somehow to somehow accomplish the task of being able to write off the Word of God, especially those portions of it which convict.
And if we cannot write off, The word, well, we could certainly, if not the message, find something wrong with the messenger.
See, when a minister does hold faithfully to the message of the word, the people who are professing Christ and professing the inerrancy and authority of the scripture, they know they can't make an argument there, so what will they attempt to do?
I didn't like the way you said it.

And I'm not really that bothered by that doctrine, but I'm just bothered by you.
Well, certainly, if you're a Christian who's supposedly professing to be submitted to the Lordship of Christ as exercised through the agency of His Word, you can't say, I'm bothered by Scripture.
That's not a good look.
That's not a good excuse.
Another believer, another brother or sister in Christ comes up to you and says, Hey, why are you being rebellious and disobedient in this area of your life?
And you say, Well, I just don't like the Word of God.
That's not a good reason.
I just don't like Joel.
You'll get a lot further with that one.
