DAILY TRUTH - Handed Over to Satan

Host of DAILY TRUTH - Handed Over to Satan announces a Right Response Conference featuring Dr. James White and others, then exegesis 1 Peter 5:8 to argue that church discipline removes sinners from the covenant flock. This separation leaves them vulnerable as "roaring lion" prey, akin to tax collectors, without accountability. Ultimately, the episode asserts that formal affiliation provides essential spiritual safety against the devil's devouring intent. [Automatically generated summary]

Safety in the Flock of God 00:03:33
Big news, really big news.

We've got a number of things already lined up and organized.
This is what we've got so far.
The whole conference, three days long on post millennialism and theonomy.
And the speakers Dr. James White, Dr. Joseph Boot, Gary DeMar, and of course, yours truly, Pastor Joel Webbin.
We've got a great lineup, we've got great topics.

And I want to direct your attention to 1 Peter 5, verse 8.
The scripture says, Be sober minded, be watchful, that is, alert.
Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
If you've ever watched Planet Earth or anything on the Nature Channel, Who do lions devour?
Is it not those who have been separated from the herd?
Are the people of God not called the flock of God?
If the devil is a lion who prowls, seeking whom he may devour, and the flock of God is in fact a flock, or perhaps a herd, then who are those individuals who stand the highest likelihood of being devoured by the devil, if not those who are separated from the flock?
When Paul says, I have handed these men over to Satan, he is saying, I have removed them from the church.
For a man to be removed from the church of God is to be handed over to Satan.
It is as though he has painted on his chest a large target, begging and pleading with Satan to come and devour him.
There is safety and security among the people of God, there is safety and security in church membership, in covenant, formal and visible.
Covenant in a local church.
There is safety and security in the accountability that the other members provide, safety and security in the authority of the elders and deacons.
There is safety and security in belonging to the flock of God.
And if we despise that, if we separate ourselves or by our impenitent sin are separated and removed by the church, we become an easy target for he who prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
And this process of handing someone over, which not just the elders perform, but according to Matthew 18, the whole church performs, tells it to the church.
And if he does not listen to the church, then the church now regards the individual as an outsider, as a tax collector or a Gentile, removing them from the flock of God and making them easy prey for the enemy.
This is a process that all the saints are called to.
And it is most assuredly unpleasant.
