DAILY TRUTH - When Is It Right To Judge?

Host of DAILY TRUTH challenges the modern evangelical claim that Christians should never judge, arguing instead for righteous judgment based on Matthew 7 and Paul's teaching that ignorance excuses no immorality. He distinguishes between sinful self-righteousness and the biblical duty to correct others, asserting that avoiding all judgment is a lie. The segment concludes by promoting an upcoming three-day Right Response Conference featuring Dr. James White, Dr. Joseph Boot, Gary DeMar, and Pastor Joel Webbin, focusing on post-millennialism and theonomy at rightresponseconference.com. Judging Others by Your Standard 00:04:57
Hey guys, real quick before we get started, I have a small request.
If you've been blessed by our content and you like this show, would you take just a brief moment and leave us a five star review?
This is quite possibly the most effective thing that you can do to ensure that this content gets out to as many people as possible.
Thanks.
Jesus said, Man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
You're listening to Daily Truth.
Somebody who says, I didn't know there was a God, I didn't know there was a standard, if they really believed that, they would live consistently with that, and that would be a life that is absent of judgment.
That's what the apostle's saying.
He's saying, when you judge others, you condemn yourself.
Why?
Because judging, judgmentalism is a sin.
It's a condemnable sin.
It's a sin that's worth condemning.
That's not what he's saying.
Because the Bible teaches that we're called to make judgments.
The righteous man makes judgments about all things, the spiritual man judges all things, yet he himself is subject to no man's judgment.
We make judgments all the time.
You might be thinking about, well, wait a second, the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew chapter 7, Jesus says, Don't judge others with the same measure that you judge, you too will be judged.
All that's saying is not, Hey, it's always wrong to judge.
All that's saying is, As you judge, live up to the judgments you make.
Know that as you judge, with the very same measure that you judge others, you too will be judged.
And so don't go and try to take a speck out of your neighbor's eye, your brother's eye, when you've got a two by four sticking out of yours.
And we take that and we say, Don't judge.
What do you think God would say?
We know what God says with a whole biblical theology.
He would say, Take that two by four out of your eye and go and remove the speck in your brother's also.
Both.
Both.
He's listing for his priorities.
He's not saying, Don't ever correct your brother.
We know that doesn't line up with Scripture.
And so we make judgments.
Even Matthew chapter seven Don't judge.
The same measure you judge others, you too will be judged.
The very next verse, that's 1 through 5, verses 1 through 5, Matthew chapter 7.
The very next verse is, Don't cast your pearls before swine.
Well, how do you obey that?
I mean, first, Jesus is saying that some people are swine.
Let's just soak that in for a moment.
And then, number two, he's saying, You need to know who those people are, which requires you to do what?
Make a judgment.
That's right.
That's right.
So the modern American evangelical church is lying, they're lying.
We do make judgments.
We make judgments humbly.
We don't want to give in to the sin of judgmentalism that is self righteous, that denies our own sin, our own need for the mercy and grace of God.
But we also don't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater and basically say that we can't ever correct anyone for anything.
That's insanity.
And so we do judge rightfully.
But these people, they're judging wrongfully.
And this is what Paul's saying in the very first verse.
He's saying, You don't have an excuse.
Which excuse?
The one you love to use the most.
The one that says you're ignorant and therefore innocence.
Your ignorance makes you innocent.
You didn't know there was a God.
You didn't know there was a universal standard of morality.
And so because you didn't know these things, you can't be held morally responsible for living in that way.
But here was your tell.
Here's where you've done messed up, A.A. Ron.
The problem is, the problem is that you judge others.
And what does he say?
And you practice the very same thing that you do.
Meaning what?
The big deal is hypocrisy.
No, that's not the big point of this text.
When he says you practice the very same thing that you judge others for, what he's saying is this you do know by your judging of others based on how they live their lives, you betray your excuse of ignorance.
You are admitting that you believe in morality.
And here's the key you can't even live up to your own standard of morality.
So you're judging others, right?
And what are you using to do that?
Some kind of standard.
You're using some standard for right and wrong, some standard for righteousness, some standard for morality.
And when people don't live up to your standard for morality, you judge them, which proves what?
You have a standard.
You believe that there is actually such a thing as right and wrong, and you do the very same things yourself.
Meaning what?
You can't even live up to your own skewed, false, unequal weights and measurement system of morality.
What on earth would make you think that you can stand before God?
