DAILY TRUTH - The Patience of God

Daily Truth host urges listeners to review the episode while exploring how Christ paid humanity's penalty, contrasting earthly shame with heaven's joy where God wipes away tears. Citing Jonathan Edwards, the segment argues that divine grace and impending judgment must jointly motivate holiness, rejecting naive reliance on a single driver. Ultimately, true spiritual growth requires embracing both the gospel's power and the sobering reality of standing before God with hearts laid bare to put sin to death by grace. Thanks.
Jesus said, Man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
You're listening to Daily Truth.
The penalty for our failure paid by Christ.
But the shame of our failure we will experience.
There will be no mourning in heaven.
He will wipe away every tear.
And although it may be temporary, it will still be painful nonetheless.
Jonathan Edwards, what he's getting at is this the grace of God through Jesus Christ, the gospel, is a powerful motivator towards holiness.
And the holiness and judgment of God and our impending death is also a powerful motivator towards holiness.
Let us not be so naive.
Let us not be so narrow that we accept one motivation while rejecting the other.
Are we gospel centered?
Yes.
Is the gospel a strong wind in our sails propelling us towards a life of holiness?
Yes.
But is the holiness of God Himself and the fact that each one of us one day will stand before Him and that everything in our hearts will be laid bare?
Is that also a great motivation for us to put sin to death in this life by grace?
Yes, we should remember both.
Thanks so much for listening.
But, real quick, before you go, do us a small favor, take a moment, and leave us a five star review if you enjoyed the show.
This is undoubtedly the best way that you can help us get this biblically faithful content to as many people as possible.
Thanks so much.
