DAILY TRUTH - Perfect Love Casts Out Fear

Daily Truth's Perfect Love Casts Out Fear episode anchors its theological argument in 1 John 4:17-19, asserting that Jesus fully satisfied God's wrath on the cross with the declaration "It is finished." The speaker defines fear specifically as dread of punishment, which believers should not experience given their reconciliation through Christ's sacrifice. While reverence for God's holiness remains appropriate, any terror regarding divine retribution is rejected as incompatible with grace. Ultimately, God's love is evidenced by His voluntary offering of His Son while humanity was still an enemy, guaranteeing that all things will be given to believers without cause for doubt. Jesus said, Man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
You're listening to Daily Truth.
On the cross where Jesus died, the wrath of God was satisfied.
It is finished.
Not it is begun.
It is finished.
Jesus has taken upon himself all of your sin.
And Jesus has endured the just punishment for your sin.
Again, 1 John 4 17 through 19.
By this is love perfected with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment.
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.
For fear, the particular fear that's being spoken of in the context of this text, is a fear that has to do with punishment.
And whoever fears has not been perfected in love.
So we don't fear, but rather we love because God has first loved us.
And what example, what demonstration, what proof do we have that God has first loved us?
That while we were still weak, Christ died for the ungodly.
Very rarely would anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.
But God perfectly demonstrates his love for us in this that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
The matter of God's love for us is settled.
For those who are in Christ by grace through faith, there is no reason.
To question or to doubt the love of God, what further proof do we need?
If He who is not willing even to spare His own Son but freely gave Him up for us all, how much more will He not with Christ freely give us all things?
The proof is in the pudding.
In this particular instance, the proof is in the blood.
Jesus died, He died for His enemies, He died for you.
And the love of God has been so perfectly proven for us in the gospel of Jesus Christ that no fear should remain.
Fear of God in regards to his person, in regards to his character, his attributes, his holiness, his righteousness, an overwhelming sense of reverence, respect, and awe, most certainly.
No Longer Standing As Enemies 00:00:36
But a fear that has to do with punishment?
Not for the Christian.
No longer.
We no longer stand condemned.
We no longer stand as God's enemies.
We've been reconciled by Jesus and his cross.
Thanks so much for listening.
But, real quick, before you go, do us a small favor take a moment and leave us a five star review if you enjoyed the show.
