Dr. Basima Williams talks DIOXIN DETOX strategies with the Health Ranger
| Copy link to current segment

Time Text
Welcome to the Health Ranger Report here on Brighteon.com and Brighteon.tv.
I'm Mike Adams, the Health Ranger.
And as you know, America is under a chemical attack of sorts because we have fallout from the Ohio vinyl chloride ignition dioxin bomb, you might call it, that's been falling all over this, at least the northeast parts of this country, but is entering the food supply as we speak and the water supply as we speak.
So I've asked integrative wellness physician Dr.
Bashima Williams to join us here, and her website is beingfunctional.com.
And she's bringing some research to us today, and I've got some research as well.
Focus on things that can help your body naturally detoxify dioxins and also some of the things that she has seen with dioxin-related poisoning among patients over the years.
So, Dr.
Williams, thank you for joining me today.
It's great to have you on.
Thank you so much for having me, Mike.
Absolutely.
Now, this is a critical issue today.
Let me just set the background for people.
This is the dioxin 2378 molecule.
It's the most toxic molecule known to humankind.
And it's also known as TCDD, which is an acronym for the molecule.
This is created when you burn chlorinated compounds.
And I have here the EPA. EPA.gov explaining all of this, that when you burn chlorinated compounds, you create dioxins, and that these dioxins are considered persistent bioaccumulative toxins that are in the food supply and inundating our bodies,
the water systems, crops, but especially animal products, meat, cheese, dairy, milk, cheese and milk, all dairy products, plus eggs.
But they can exist outside of that as well.
They are fat-soluble poisons.
They are incredibly resilient, and they get higher and higher in concentration as you move up the food chain.
So that's the backdrop.
Now, Dr.
Williams, I appreciate you taking the time to join me today.
Number one, let's just start with this question.
What do you know about the toxicity of dioxins and how they are toxic?
Let's start there.
Well, before...
The train derailment in Ohio, not very much.
So that's definitely something that I've been researching a lot lately.
However, in the functional medicine world, detoxing is something that we do on a regular basis and very prevalent since we are so overburdened with toxins anyway.
So the methods that we use to Treat toxins doesn't really change despite what the toxin is.
However, as you've mentioned in your other shows, Mike, dioxin is extremely poisonous, extremely long-lasting in the environment.
So this is going to be something that we're going to be dealing with for the rest of our lives.
Right, right.
That's the hard part about this.
And since it's a hormone disruptor, it is functional, or you should say anti-functional, in your body at ridiculously low concentrations below parts per trillion.
But this is a molecule that is toxic at even parts per quadrillion concentrations in the body, But as you said, and the great thing about you coming on is that you're a functional wellness physician, so you understand the processes of the body's natural detoxification process.
The body's designed to eliminate these synthetic chemicals that don't belong in it.
And what you do, as I understand it, is you and people in your field help people accelerate their body's own natural detoxification processes.
So is that an accurate description?
Absolutely.
That's exactly what we do.
Functional medicine definitely looks at root cause of illness and a lot of illness, especially, I'll give you an example.
Diabetes, 20, 30, 40 years ago, maybe 5%, 10% at the most, and now 20%, 30%.
And a lot of it is related to toxins that in our bodies are called obesogens, insulin resistance, toxins stored in fat causing inflammation, systemic inflammation.
So all sorts of problems.
So when we look at toxins entering our body, we definitely look at how can we safely remove the toxins, whether it's heavy metals or plastic, you know, whatever it is.
We really look at the root cause and we try to find a solution to that holistically.
I'm really glad you mentioned that because the first principle of detoxification is to stop the exposure, right?
Yeah.
Right.
And then the second principle is accelerate the elimination.
Right.
If you can do those two things.
The thing is, it has to be done constantly because we're constantly exposed to various toxins.
And it's often outside of our control, such as this Ohio disease.
you know, train wreck, literal train wreck situation.
So, you know, you're minding your own business in your backyard chicken farm, and then boom, giant toxic cloud drops on your farm.
No fault of you.
You didn't do that, it wasn't your dietary choice, but now all of a sudden you're dealing with mass contamination of you and your food supply.
So what do you teach people to really ramp up What are the most common strategies for detoxification in a general sense?
And then we'll get to dioxins later.
So in a general sense, the name of the game is avoid, avoid, avoid.
So just my personal opinion, if I did live in East Palestine, Ohio, I would probably want to leave because that's the best thing you can do to stop the contaminations entering your body.
So the second thing we do is we really teach lifestyle avoidance as well.
Things like, obviously, tobacco use, alcohol use, but also using plastics.
And not using plastics and also avoiding household chemicals and a lot of cosmetics and things like that.
So avoidance is a really, really big thing.
The other thing we talk about is vegetables, for example, with your diet.
Diet is super important.
Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, any cruciferous vegetables.
Any onions and garlic, anything that has sulfur containing in it, which will help produce some natural nutrients that will help with anti-oxidation and free radical quenching, helping the liver cells work better.
So that's kind of what we do.
We try to help our patients, you know, poop better.
So lots of fiber.
We recommend about Four cups of vegetables a day.
Of course, we always try to add some supplements to help their bodies improve detoxification.
I want to ask you about supplements here in a minute because I know that you have a relatively new supplement company where you have a particular strategy for daily supplementation.
We'll introduce that in a minute.
Because I have questions about what the strategy is as well.
I'm very curious about that.
But what you mentioned about vegetables is really important.
I've got a lot of research here from the National Library of Medicine that talks about what you just said.
Green vegetables reduce digestive tract absorption of polychlorinated dibenzofurans in rats.
If you are exposed to dioxins in food, which is where most people get most of their exposure, by the way, from eating contaminated, mostly animal products, actually, you know, cheese and milk and so on, and meat, then if you eat a lot of vegetables with that A far less quantity of dioxins will enter your blood because you will poop them out as they're bound to the vegetables that you just ate, right?
So is that a fair statement to say if somebody chooses to eat a lot of meat and dairy that you should complement that with a whole lot of vegetables so you have the fiber and you have the binding of the toxins that carries it out of your body?
Is that a fair statement?
That's a fair statement.
When we make dietary recommendations from a functional medicine perspective, we don't push a lot of dairy and eggs to begin with.
So if someone is working with me, that's a number one.
You know, everything in limitation, what we do push a lot of is vegetables.
Specifically, I do want to mention too the types of vegetables.
You definitely want to choose organic when possible and definitely avoid the dirty dozen, especially any vegetables or fruit where you're eating the skin like bell peppers or like strawberries or celery that contain a lot of pesticides and other things that you're actually trying to detox from.
So yes, definitely a true statement.
You can't go wrong with eating a lot of good vegetables unless you're eating GMO vegetables that have toxins on them.
Then you're getting a double dose of toxins.
Yeah, no kidding.
Now, talk about in your practice, you told me off-air before we started that you have treated some people We're exposed to Agent Orange, and Agent Orange, of course, it's a chemical weapon.
It's, I think, 2,4-D combined with glyphosate, basically, and it contains quite a lot of dioxins.
So what did you see in those patients that had that exposure?
So I've had a couple patients in my lifetime who are Vietnam vets who unfortunately died with leukemia.
And the presentation was an interesting discoloration of skin.
It wasn't acute exposure, but that is ultimately what ended up happening as their disease progressed.
So I've had a couple cases with vets who were in Vietnam who did have Agent Orange exposure and did die with cancers.
And do you believe those cancers were accelerated by that exposure?
That was the theory at the time in working with the oncologist.
So even a traditional oncologist also thought that was the case?
Absolutely.
We have so many things that accelerate cancer in our environment right now.
Hormone disruptors, for example, hormone mimickers, exposure to certain types of heavy metals, and so on.
How are you helping people reduce their overall risk of developing cancers or, let's say, their timeline of accelerating cancers that they may already have?
So we start with a detailed history and physical, history through telemedicine, mostly physical, just from what I can observe and see.
And then we go into what their personal risk factors are.
So sometimes, for example, in how it relates to liver detox, we do look at some genetics that help us understand how well they're detoxing Toxins out of their body.
And then we also, while that is a genotypic expression of what they were born with, we can phenotypically change how their genes are expressed by offering certain nutrients and, you know, supplements and dietary changes and things like that.
Of course, we always address sleep.
Sleep, for example, improves natural killer cell production, which has a significant improvement in your immune system.
So less colds and, you Viruses in general and you get over things faster and you have a lot more energy if you sleep well.
Diet is huge.
We really, like I said earlier, we push a lot of vegetables and then we add in specific proteins and healthy fats.
We try not to do diets unless they're temporary, like curative diets, like an elimination diet or something like that, where we have a goal, and then we try to get people on whole foods as fast as possible.
We don't want people to feel restricted or deprived.
And exercise, super important exercise.
And also helping people sweat.
That's a really great way to get rid of toxins.
Saunas are amazing.
So we kind of encompass all of that in our plan that's personalized for our patients.
And I'm really glad you mentioned that through diet you help people alter the expression of genes because it seems like conventional medicine so often tells people that your genetic profile is a death sentence and people feel trapped.
Oh, my genes are in control.
No, not exactly.
No, your genes are expressed based on the cellular environment, which you can control largely through diet.
And that's what you were just talking about, Dr.
Williams.
So your website, I have it up here, beingfunctional.com.
We interviewed you before, and I know you were taking some patients for telemedicine.
Do you still have some slots for some patients to sign up right now?
There's probably a three or four month wait right now, and we're still only in those three states, Missouri, Florida, and California.
Texas is proving to be very difficult because of the influx of applications they have in Texas.
Okay.
Boy, I would imagine you could get a whole lot of people from Ohio right about now if you were practicing in Ohio, but that's not one of the states.
All right, so you practice in California, Florida, and Missouri, and you're working on Texas, and you have a, did you say a four-month, three to four-month wait time right now?
Right.
Okay.
All right.
But anyway, folks, you can go to beingfunctional.com and learn about Dr.
Williams.
We're going to have you on quite a bit, Dr.
Williams, because I really like the way you present this.
It's very evidence-based, and you have a lot of hands-on experience with patients.
And I'm pretty excited about your new nutritional venture as well.
Let's talk about things that specifically may help the body detox from dioxins.
Because I've got a list here of lots of things.
Chlorella came up in the National Library of Medicine as one of the best superfoods for detoxification, including in mothers who are breastfeeding.
We're talking about green tea, the catechins in green tea.
What else?
Pigments in green tea.
Yeah, that's the catechins.
Black tea, vegetables, and other types of superfoods, cruciferous, kale, spinach, all of these types of things.
And so, But for the most part, what I find interesting...
Oh, and seaweed.
I find interesting is that these are things that we always talk about.
Those of us in the world of nutrition, we're always doing these things.
So are there any surprises in that list from your point of view?
Or what do you have to add to that list?
Number one, no surprises.
And just a couple other little editorial things.
Number one, you know, it's the volume too.
Volume matters.
So one way I try to get my patients to eat three or four cups of veggies a day is just to try to replace one of your meals with a salad.
That's a good rule of thumb.
Number two, try to be prepared with all those cruciferous veggies.
If you're not intentional, it probably won't happen.
So, you know, I try to have them cut and already in glass containers in my fridge.
I can just throw them in my salad as well.
And then also, turmeric is huge just for the anti-inflammatory effects that it has.
And bile makers, anything that helps produce bile because that's how we get rid of toxins.
So we push a lot of things like, and you don't have to eat these every single day, but eat a little bit of them throughout the whole week.
Artichokes, parsley, things like that are really, really important as well.
Yeah, great suggestions there.
And folks, when it comes to the salad, I've seen people have like a big iceberg lettuce salad, which is almost worthless, and then they add on all this non-organic cheese and then this toxic salad dressing made with canola oil and MSG and garbage.
I'm like, that kind of defeats the purpose of having the salad, you know?
You just made a little toxic bowl right there.
If you're going to have a salad, it's got to have some real greens in it.
Get yourself some pungent, even some bitter, really strong tasting greens, some of that, and have a healthy dressing, healthy oils like olive oil.
And if you're going to put cheese on it, make sure it's organic and use it sparingly for that salad because you want all the lettuce fiber to push through to kind of sweep out your digestive tract and carry a lot of toxins out with it, right?
Right.
Try to eat the rainbow of colors for sure.
And then adding onions and garlic and other sulfur-producing foods is actually also really, really important.
So Being prepared and having all that ready to go is really going to help make that salad amazing.
Absolutely.
Now, do you do smoothies?
Because you know I always have my crazy smoothies here.
I literally travel with these.
Do you do smoothies of any kind?
I do smoothies.
I usually have a whey protein that I use, and I also do a handful of greens and four strawberries, and I also put flaxseed and cinnamon and turmeric in it, and usually hemp-based milk.
Huh, that's interesting.
Cinnamon.
Yeah, I like the fact that you're putting cinnamon in there.
There's also a product called Fido Food.
And I'm sure you have a product like that too.
We have one that's called Fido Food that is packed with all those vegetables we talked about, but in a powder form.
So one scoop of that goes a long way.
And I feel good.
That's a good thing to drink after a workout.
So that's generally how I break my fast.
Just try to break a fast with as many colors as you can.
That's a great point.
And I also put licorice root powder in my smoothie a little bit because of the liver protective effects of that.
And licorice root also being effective against spike protein.
So you get double benefits on that.
And I also, I believe in cycling them.
So I don't think that your smoothie should have the exact same ingredients every day, right?
That your body expects a variety.
And some days, way more of one thing, but none of something else.
And then a different day, you might flip that and reverse it.
Because that's the way we normally would ingest food.
I mean, that's a normal thing, a normal behavior.
It shouldn't be the same bland, homogenized diet every day.
If you eat the same thing every day, your body starts to develop antibodies against it.
For example, I had someone who had an antibody reaction to almonds, but that's because she ate a lot of almonds every day.
That's going back to that point earlier that I made.
Have a diet that has a whole variety of things in it and don't restrict yourself.
When we restrict ourselves, we run into problems because then we're going to lack nutrients that our body needs.
And you have to listen to your body like you said earlier.
Listen to what your body needs.
You know, that's interesting because in the summertime in Texas, it's really crazy hot and I'm outdoors a lot and so I sweat a lot and I'll find my body craving salt.
Because I'm losing so much salt.
I become salt deficient.
So a lot of people would interpret that as saying, oh, I want to eat potato chips or I want to eat Doritos or whatever.
I just put salt in the smoothie.
It's like, body wants salt, put it in the smoothie.
And it tastes great.
I mean, just a little bit.
I'm not talking about a lot.
And I know you're using a pinch of the Celtic salt or the Himalayan salt, which has a lot of minerals in it outside of just sodium chloride.
So that's really important.
Yeah, exactly.
And by the way, I never add salt to foods.
Like if I'm at a restaurant, I don't salt the food because that's already crazy salty at a restaurant.
But I do add a pinch of salt to my smoothies in the summer only when my body tells me I need that.
But you teach those principles about body awareness and how...
People can listen to what their body needs.
Or if you try a food or you try a supplement, you can pay attention.
How does it make you feel?
How does your brain feel?
What about your moods?
What about your libido?
What about your sleep?
All these things.
If you pay attention, your body will tell you what's going on, right?
Yeah, all sorts of things.
Headaches, migraines, fatigue, eczema, dry skin, itchy skin, all sorts of things that you can tell with how you're feeling directly correlate with that increase in self-awareness so that you know what foods your body likes and what foods your body doesn't like.
Yeah, exactly.
All right, now I'm going to bring up your other website here, which is your new offering, myvitamin.com.
Tell us about, as I understand it, you're offering a set of nutrients for daily consumption with a specific strategy.
Could you kind of give us all a brief of what that is?
Absolutely.
Mike, I've been doing this for a long time, and there's just one of me, and I can't see a million people.
So I wanted to make sure that I could at least offer some professional-grade level supplements that were clean and GMO-free and heavy metal-free.
These supplements are extremely clean from...
You know, no gluten, no dairy, all that stuff that my patients who seek my help and have that level of expectations for that level of quality.
But I did not want patients to just go in and randomly choose whatever they wanted on a website where, you know, it would be really difficult.
Some of these supplements have a proprietary blend of ingredients.
For example, there's a So, you know, if you're really after liver detox, for example, since we're talking about We made a detox med pack and they look something like this so that it's really convenient to take.
You have your morning regimen and your evening supplements that you can take.
They're really good and accessible to anyone who wants to go on MyVitamin.com.
So this is something that you started with the patients that you were consulting with, but then now you're opening it up to anybody that wants to take part in this, even if they're not consulting with you.
That's right.
So all of my patients are on these supplements because we know that...
We know that getting to the goals that they have, whether it's reversing diabetes or lowering cholesterol or whatever it is, we know that diet, exercise, lifestyle sometimes is not enough, and especially in this soil that we're growing things in now or in the You know, the toxic environment that we're living in.
We know that diet is not enough.
And so, yeah, most of my patients, actually all of my patients take supplements.
That's an expectation they have as well because they don't want to necessarily take prescription medications or you wouldn't be seeing a functional medicine doctor.
That does not mean we don't prescribe medications.
But definitely in my practice, I've decreased more medicine than I've certainly written for over the past 10 years.
So I'm on your website, and what people subscribe to a different, like they get a daily packet, but they can subscribe to what, a hair, skin, and nails formula, and then there's a detox formula, general wellness.
There's one for college students.
Is that more cognitive-focused?
There's one for general wellness for college kids, just a really simple.
And then there's also one that enhances cognitive function as well for college kids and also for us, you know, older people.
So this is designed to just take the confusion out of a lot of people like, well, how much should I take of this and that?
What's the right dosage?
When should I take it?
They get a packet and they just, is it one in the night, one in the day, or is it It's one in the morning and one in the evening.
We try to mix it with your meals.
Always take with food.
For people who are fasting, take it before you eat breakfast or lunch and take it before you have dinner.
We also talk a lot about stacking habits in our practice so that people are more compliant.
This increases compliance significantly.
So what about, let me ask you this then.
A lot of our audience, they're doing superfoods and they're doing smoothies.
And this is what we have actually here on the side of the desk.
We have like organic sprouted radiance blend product.
Is it totally okay for people to continue to do all their other superfoods and smoothies on top of these targeted supplements that you have?
Yes, the worst thing that'll happen is you'll make extensive pee because you will pee anything extra that your body doesn't need out that day.
But it'll also allow the body to need whatever it does need to have accessible to it.
Right, right, exactly.
And also, the other thing I like about what you're doing is it's convenient for travel because I've traveled I've had to bring not only my blender and all my smoothie ingredients in bottles, and then I have to bring certain supplements in bottles, and it fills a suitcase.
It's crazy.
But I refuse to eat hotel food and whatever junk food out there, so I have to bring all my stuff.
And it's like lugging around a kitchen.
I'm sorry, go ahead.
Oh no, I was agreeing with you.
Well, what you have is kind of you can just, I guess, tear off like two or three days, you know, put it in your pocket or something, or take it on the airplane with you if you're going to be traveling for a long time, and you can just, it's real easy.
Yeah, not to mention, you know, just in light of us talking about reducing plastic waste as well, you don't have seven different plastic bottles to take.
You've got a little box and these little sleeves and that's it.
And it's so simple.
Again, convenience.
For me, what's most important for me is that my patients are compliant because if these vitamins don't work for what my goals are for my patients, I know it's not because the vitamins are not good.
It's because there's something else that we need to look into or dig deeper into.
Right.
And so, yeah, so all of that, I mean, you know, this throwaway society we're living in with just, I mean, if we all just stopped using so much plastic, that would be amazing.
Yeah.
You know, we wouldn't need it.
That brings us full circle to what we started with today, which is dioxin exposure.
I'll say this.
I know you're not making any specific claims about your products treating dioxins, let's say, nor am I making claims about my products in that way, but just in a general sense, If you're lacking minerals and nutrients and especially certain plant-based phytochemicals, then your body is kind of impaired in its ability to naturally eliminate foreign substances.
So having good nutrition, I think, isn't that just a pillar of effective detox?
Yes, absolutely.
And one thing I want to mention is your body's engines sort of are the enzymes.
And all of the enzymes need minerals and cofactors and things like that for them to work optimally.
So detox is no exception.
And detox is a very energy-using procedure.
So not having the right nutrition.
So of course...
We would not recommend supplements necessarily to people who don't want to change their diet.
They wouldn't be seeing me to begin with, but really, you have to have a good diet.
This is what I want to tell people that are afraid of this dioxin exposure and other toxins, is that there is hope in that you do have some control.
And we really do try to empower our patients at being functional, that you do have some level of control.
That just because you were exposed doesn't mean that you have a death sentence.
Now, again, if I was acutely exposed to that degree, then I would want to leave that area because that's one thing that you can do, that you can control, is how much daily exposure you have.
You do have to sacrifice a lot.
I can't imagine leaving a farm that your family's been in for a hundred years.
I can't imagine that.
But at the same time, what's worse is I can't imagine having a cancer or the skin changes, the skin acne or the burning of the face and skin or the diabetes and obesity that will later develop the immune system dysfunction.
Reproduction is a huge concern, especially to anyone who's living in and around that area that's pregnant.
Any kids with developmental delays and things like that, those are all things that we've actually seen in science as it relates to toxicity in general.
Well, you bring up something, I mean, you're kind of alluding to this, but these toxins are invisible.
So if you're walking around a farm that's heavily contaminated, you can't see it.
You don't know.
And especially dioxins are toxic at ridiculously low levels of concentration that even the best laboratory instruments can barely see.
So there's no way to know unless you happen to have access to a lab, which most people don't, and the testing is very expensive.
There's no way to know exactly how much you're getting.
So, you know, as a precaution, clear out of the areas where there is especially acute contamination and then, you know, up the strategies for natural detox.
Like you said, Mishima, Sweating, drinking water, having good elimination, eating more vegetables with fiber.
I remember a time when our own government used to tell us pretty good dietary advice, like, have more fruits and vegetables.
Now it's like, take more jabs and breathe the toxins.
Everything's upside down now, but if you take the health advice back in the 1970s, it was actually more on track than it is today.
Wild, huh?
Right.
Well, we are selling convenience now.
That's the primary thing that we're doing.
We're selling convenience.
You and I are not selling convenience, but that's what's being sold to us.
And because of that, it's allowed us to have more free time to work harder and do this other stuff, which really is just a joke.
Taking back control of things you can control is super important.
Okay.
Here's one more question.
I know that with your beingfunctional.com telemedicine, you conduct laboratory tests, a blood analysis.
I mean, not you personally, but you order blood analysis tests for your patients.
Do you have a way, I mean, just in case people were curious, to order a dioxin blood test or a dioxin urine test or something like that for your patients?
I don't know of a dioxin test right now.
I've never had to really order it other than my experience 20 plus years ago with my vets who passed away, unfortunately.
I've never really had to deal with dioxin per se, but we do have tests that look for glyphosates and other toxins like that.
Heavy metal testing is a huge thing we do.
Again, this is where we start treating a patient and they don't get better.
This is where we start looking for secondary causes.
I actually just had a patient today who has lost 25 pounds and our initial attempts failed.
And it wasn't until we really up-regulated liver detox function That all of a sudden the puffiness went away, the swelling went away, the weight went away.
And we actually reduced her workouts.
We were having her do more meditation and things like that.
But really, it all comes down to The obesogens and toxins and things like that that are really affecting our society.
And so a lot of times we can just assume that you have it because really 98% of us walking around have toxins.
This is not a new problem.
We've had thousands of people send us their hair samples and actually pay for...
Metals analysis in their hair via our lab, our ICP-MS instruments.
And so I've seen a lot of results of metals analysis in hair.
And I've got to say, everybody's hair is contaminated with lead.
We see cadmium all the time, even some mercury in some people's hair.
We see crazy high copper in certain people, and even high aluminum.
Now, just being curious about this, this was a couple years ago, My dogs killed a rabbit, and so there was a dead rabbit, so I clipped off some of the rabbit fur, and I took it to the lab to run it to compare to all the human hair that we've been testing.
And wouldn't you know it, this rabbit was so clean compared to the human hair.
I mean, if someone doesn't know this, they think, oh, well, the wild animals, they're out in the dirty woods or whatever, and we're civilized eating clean food.
No, it's exactly the opposite, folks.
You're living in a toxic environment.
The wild animals are way cleaner than we are.
And I even tested my hair.
And, you know, I eat organic.
I drink smoothies.
I detox.
The rabbit was cleaner than my hair.
I mean, imagine that!
The heavy metals are everywhere.
I mean, cadmium with the chickens and the rice and the arsenic.
It's in our food supply.
It's in our fillings if we have them.
It's in the air that we're breathing.
If you live in a home that was...
Painted before 1979, you're probably breathing in lead paint.
It's in those little, it's in lead windows.
So, you know, occupational hazard is something that we do address when we're talking to our patients because, you know, occupational hazard is definitely a huge area for exposure.
But, you know, what's really interesting is some cancer cases I see in patients who had as a child live near a farm field or an orchard.
and now all of a sudden they have these cancers.
History is pretty consistent.
I'm not saying that that definitely is what causes it, of course, but there's definitely a consistency there with toxic exposures.
I actually had a patient who, obtaining his history about 20 years prior, was standing outside by his car when the field next door was sprayed with pesticides and his entire car turned white and he was covered in it.
Whoa, his car turned white.
Well, because of the stuff that they sprayed.
I mean, when you're that close to a farm field, you're going to get sprayed.
When you're that close to a farm field, when they're harvesting, all of that stuff that's settled on the plants, when they're harvesting, all of a sudden this dust with all these toxins in them, Create this cloud that you're breathing in for several days after harvesting.
It's so crazy how toxic our food supply is.
You know, I mentioned this once in a podcast.
I said humans are the only species that deliberately poisons its food, especially that it feeds its young.
I mean, you go out and observe field mice, even rats.
Rats don't find food and then poison it and then give it to their young.
Only humans do that.
It's the craziest thing.
I think we're just being lied to, Mike, in terms of why do we have to grow this much corn?
Why do we have to grow this much wheat?
Why do we have to genetically modify everything?
And so I think we've been lied to in terms of we have to do this and then the farmers are incentivized to do things like that.
So definitely something that we need to learn and grow with and learn from moving forward.
Yeah, and I think that, folks, if you're not consuming good nutrition and superfoods to aid your body's natural detoxification process, you're living in kind of an internal toxic stew because we're all exposed to so much stuff that even I can't avoid it.
That's what I was just talking about.
Even I can't avoid it.
The rabbit was cleaner than I was.
I mean, I guess if you forage wild food all day in the forest, then maybe you could be super, super clean, but you'd spend your whole life foraging food.
I mean, that's a lot of work.
That is.
All right.
Well, any final thoughts, Bashima, as we wrap up this conversation today?
No, I just want to thank you for all the work you're doing.
I think you're bringing a lot of light, a lot of education.
I've listened to a couple of your podcasts in terms of just bringing awareness.
You're bringing awareness to what's happening in Ohio.
You're giving the people in Ohio a lot of good information.
And also, you're bringing awareness to just how toxic we are right now and all the great things that you can do about your situation.
You don't have to accept it.
Yeah.
Well, thank you very much.
And I appreciate what you're doing.
You're working with patients.
You're working on nutrition.
You're educating people.
In some cases, one-on-one.
I know you have a long waiting list at this point, and that's probably not going to get any better after this interview runs.
You're going to have a longer waiting list.
But, you know, look, we're all doing what we can.
And that's what counts.
We try to educate people.
And I appreciate you joining me.
Look, I educate people, like, grow your own sprouts, folks, you know?
I mean, you would agree with that, too.
Grow your own living foods.
You're going to have fresh enzymes, living enzymes, in the sprouts.
Isn't that one of the best things that people can do?
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
And especially growing it the way you recommend, which is, you know, soil free.
And that's what we're going to have harder and harder time finding is good soil to grow things in.
You're not kidding.
The soil is really contaminated.
And you know, they sprayed lead arsenate as a pesticide on pretty much every agricultural center in this country for 100 years.
And lead and arsenic do not vanish because they're elements.
So you spray lead arsenate on everything and then a hundred years later you're like, how come there's still lead in the soil?
Table of elements, that's why.
I mean, I spend half my day trying to teach lawmakers and authority figures basic physics and chemistry, it seems.
It's crazy.
I shouldn't rant about it, but I get frustrated.
And you know, I want to mention that while we've had this conversation, this is not medical advice.
Obviously, talk to your doctors about this.
Talk to a professional.
This is just information.
And hopefully it's something that is useful information for everyone out there.
Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
Thank you for saying that.
And let me give out your websites one more time.
Beingfunctional.com, that's where people can find you for your functional medicine consultations.
And then MyVitamin.com, singular, no S, MyVitamin.
It's like MyPillow.com.
But with a vitamin.
Okay, myvitamin.com.
And people can check that out.
And allow me to plug what we have, which is not vitamins, but some superfoods.
Can you show camera five?
Check this out, Bashima.
In our store, we've got Radiance Blend.
We've got broccoli sprout powder.
And we also have broccoli sprout powder in capsules because some people prefer that.
We've got a...
We've got an auto-vitamin E full-spectrum tocopherols, so antioxidants for your cell membranes, fat-soluble antioxidants.
And this is just obviously a small sampling of the kind of thing that we do.
We just set it up here to kind of show people some of what we have.
I think we're going to change this tomorrow with some different stuff.
You know, it's like nature makes these molecules if we are just wise enough to source these molecules.
And they're dirt cheap compared to medications, you know?
Yeah.
It's God and nature have provided the answer.
Yeah, and they make you feel good, too.
Yeah.
I do want to say, with myvitamin.com, we have about a one to two week wait right now, only because we have been selling, so we've been making these packs, and especially the detox pack.
And we also just changed, we added one additional supplement to the pack, so we're making it a little bit better.
What did you add, by the way?
We added a supplement called MedCaps DPO. Originally, the MedPak for the detox pathways had Oncoplex, which is an intense amount of broccoli.
10 pounds of broccoli per bottle.
So for a month's worth, you're getting 10 pounds of broccoli in these little tiny capsules.
You're not getting a bottle, you'd be getting the MedPak.
But we also added the MedCaps DPO, which is a detox tablet, which helps in multiple phases of the liver detox pathways.
So phase two detox.
Yeah.
Not to get too scientific.
No, but that's a good choice because I think detox is critical.
And I would also just add to people, you know, I mentioned earlier, I add licorice root to my smoothie.
Licorice root, and I don't think we have a licorice root product, but just speaking in general about this herb, licorice root contains glycerin.
Which protects the liver from damage caused by acetaminophen, which is Tylenol, or alcohol damage.
So folks, if you plan to go out drinking and then take a bunch of Tylenol, you're going to damage your liver.
By doing that, I mean, it's one of the most common causes of liver damage, by the way, is combining those two things, alcohol and Tylenol.
And you can protect yourself from either one of those with licorice root.
So, I mean, it's just an example of the power of natural molecules.
In that case, it's called glycerin.
And licorice root's part of traditional Chinese medicine, too.
Did you know that, Dr.
Williams?
Chinese medicine.
Yes.
And we use licorice root a lot.
And also gut healing, gut lining healing.
Really great for that.
And then also NAC. You can't forget about NAC. NAC is critical.
We definitely have a recommendation for our patients for pre-alcohol consumption.
To also prevent the hangover.
You're not going to not drink, so if you want a couple drinks, we don't recommend going out and getting drunk every night, but certainly there's things you can definitely do, and you're 100% right.
Alcohol is a toxin, and it will deplete your body's glutathione stores, so why not replace it before you go out and drink?
Those are all really good little pointers.
Do you have an NAC in one of your packs?
We have that in a detox pack.
Okay.
That's cool because ever since the thing happened for the last two years, people have been scrambling to get NAC. And I think at one point, did Amazon ban it or something?
And they stopped selling it because...
I forgot the details, but it was harder and harder for people to get.
Even we had trouble getting it from some time.
Anyway, you and I could geek out all day on nutrients and supplements and stuff, so we'll have to have you back to do more of this.
In the meantime, I appreciate you.
Thank you for joining us and taking the time.
Sorry to keep you a little bit longer than we planned, but good, valuable information.
Appreciate you.
Thanks so much, Mike.
It's always a pleasure to talk with you.
Absolutely.
And I think your dog needs your attention there.
I heard him in the background.
And my dog's right over here too, but he's chilling right now, so it's all cool.
Yeah, it's all good.
Your dog is better than mine.
No, no, he's just chilling.
I took him swimming earlier and he's all wiped out, so that's my secret.
Oh, that's awesome.
That's really cool.
Yeah, he's around here.
Hey, Rhody, come here.
Let me just prove it to people.
Rhody, come on up.
You want to come up?
Yeah, here he is.
Oh my goodness.
Yeah, here he is.
I woke him up.
Now he's kind of grumbling.
Good boy.
You're a good boy.
Yes, you are.
He was in a deep sleep.
That's awesome.
Yeah.
Aw.
Animal therapy is really good therapy, too.
Thank you.
Yeah, definitely.
Well, it was so nice talking with you again, and hopefully we shared some good information that will help.
We absolutely did.
All right.
Well, thank you.
Sorry, Rhody.
Sorry to never awaken the sleeping beauty.
Don't wake him up.
I can't believe you did that.
I know.
I went outside my bounds.
Okay.
Thank you for watching.
Thank you, Dr.
Williams, for joining us, and thank you for watching to our audience.
And feel free to repost this.
Oh, now he's chilling over here.
Repost us on other platforms if you wish.
