Welcome, everyone.
This is Mike Adams, the founder of Brighttown.com, with another fascinating interview in the Brighttown Conversations series.
And today, we're joined by an extremely important guest, a very special person, whose life's journey, this will be so intriguing to you.
He is a former Los Angeles Sheriff's Department law enforcement officer who encountered demon-possessed individuals in the city of fallen angels, we'll say, the city of Los Angeles.
And he has had first-hand experience with demons and a demonic possession of evil entities on the streets of Los Angeles.
And this man is a fighter.
He's actually a trained martial artist.
He's a kickboxing competitor and champion, I believe, in at least one scenario.
And he's dedicated to protecting the lives of people and fighting against darkness.
And he joins us today for a fascinating conversation.
Jesse Romero is his name and his website is jesse.com.
JesseRomero.com Oh, and his book is called The Devil in the City of Angels My Encounters with the Diabolical You can find that book on his website JesseRomero.com Jesse, thank you for joining me today.
It's an honor to have you on.
Thanks, Mike.
Thank you for the introduction.
Wow, I want to know that guy.
Yeah, well, that's you, man.
You've been through a lot.
So, since this is your first interview with us, give our audience a bit of a background of what compelled you, what experience led you to write this book that is so unusual in the world today.
Okay.
I was born in Southern California, the city of San Fernando, which is like little Mexico.
My mom and dad are from Mexico.
I was born here.
I'm a first-generation Mexican-American.
Educated in the schools in Southern California.
Found love with the martial arts very early on.
I watched a Bruce Lee movie back in 1973, Enter the Dragon.
Jumped into martial arts.
I wanted to be the Mexican Bruce Lee, I remember.
Also, I had a passion for law enforcement, about right and wrong, good and evil, light and darkness.
Right out of junior college, I went into law enforcement, Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.
And I worked there for 20 years.
I went into, like, a typical, you know, young, secondary humanist, Southern California kid, you know, happy-go-lucky, marginally Catholic, born and written in a Catholic culture, but more out of tradition than conviction.
And as I joined the sheriff's department and started working different assignments, I had always heard about the diabolical.
I had always heard about witches and witchcraft and something.
But I never encountered it.
I just heard about it.
Stuff that some of my parents in that generation would talk about.
I would hear whispers and stuff.
Or watch some of it maybe in little Spanish sitcoms.
But when I joined law enforcement, and my first assignment was at Los Angeles County Jail, that's when I started realizing, wow, everything that I've been taught as a young Catholic through 16 years of a Catholic education, everything that I've been taught is absolutely true.
And I say that because I think my first encounter that was eye-popping and eye-opening I'm 21 years old, graduated from the Assurance Academy, and I get assigned to my first unit of assignment, which is a Los Angeles County Jail, which, by the way, is the largest jail in the free world.
And that's where I had...
What I would call my red pill moment, and I said to myself, wow, this thing that my mom and dad have taught me and my upbringing as a Catholic, that there are angels and demons, this is absolutely true.
So what did you see?
I mean, if you don't mind sharing some specific details, I think people maybe have an image of some of the criminals that would come through the L.A. County community.
Jail system with tattoos of demons and so on and body modifications and weird piercings and so on.
But what did you actually see in terms of their behavior and their dark spirits coming out?
When I was working at Los Angeles County Jail in the early 80s for a couple of years, one of the inmates that I basically had a relationship with, you know, prisoner officer relationship with, I'd escort him out of his cell to the bus, you know, back into his cell, you know, help feed him.
I worked a section of the jail for a couple of months.
It was called the Mentally Ill Offenders Unit.
And that's the section of the jail where we kept all our serial killers, we kept all our mass murderers, all our psychopaths, and all our sociopaths.
And most of these guys, just like you said, they had like body art, okay?
They were all tatted down.
A lot of them had, you know, like satanic tattoos, but I didn't really think about it.
You know, they had like 666 and goat heads and pentagrams and dragon.
I never thought anything about it.
I just thought, okay, these guys like tattoos on their body.
But I remember one day, you probably remember this name.
His name was Rich Ramirez, the Night Stalker.
He basically terrorized Southern California for a few years.
I think he killed like 30 women in Southern California.
And he was a famous, probably one of the most famous serial killers in Southern California called the Night Stalker.
He was arrested in 1982 by my unit, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.
They arrested him in East L.A., And they hauled him into the LA County Jail.
I think they booked him on like 30 murder charges.
So...
I was assigned in the section of the jail where he was at, and basically you had nothing but one-man cell, solitary confinement, and he was in there, and we had to feed him three times a day, take him out for 30 minutes to get some exercise, and then we would also take him to the private black-and-white vans or the black-and-white buses to go to court.
I remember I asked him one day, because I had just come from...
I went to church in the morning to Mass, and And I heard at Mass, one of the Bible readings in 1 Corinthians 12.3, where we heard at Mass, nobody can say Jesus is Lord except by the power of the Holy Spirit.
So, now get out of Mass, go home, put on my uniform, go to work.
And I'm thinking about that verse.
Remember, I'm kind of like a lukewarm Catholic.
I'm not deep in my faith.
I'm just a traditional Catholic at this point, you know.
But that verse is kind of like gnawing at me.
I'm saying, come on.
How can anybody can save Jesus?
That's crazy.
The Bible says nobody can save Jesus as Lord except by the power of the Holy Spirit.
So I get to work.
So we're going to start feeding these 200 guys, these serial killers and mass murders in solitary confinement.
Three officers.
So I open up.
The steel door, and we feed them.
There's about a two-inch gap underneath, and you feed them, you put the tray underneath.
And so I remember I told Rich Ramirez, a night stalker, I said, hey, Ramirez, I said, here's your food.
So I slid it under, and then I said, hey, I'm just wondering, you want to get a good meal tonight?
He goes, yeah, of course.
Of course I want to.
I've been eating this sloppy jail food for two years.
I said, I'll tell you what, if you say Jesus is Lord, I'll go down to the officer's dining room, and I'll get you a large portion of anything you want, chicken, hot pastrami, chili, whatever you want.
He says, is that all I got to do?
I said, yeah, that's it.
I said, just humor me.
He goes, sure thing.
So I'm watching him, because in my mind, remember, I'm 21 years old.
I want to disprove what the Bible says.
I want to go home and tell my mom and dad, Hey mom, dad, I heard a mess.
That's not true.
I talked to all these serial killers, and guess what?
They all can say Jesus.
So I ask him.
Richard Ramirez, the nice stalker, says, No problem.
So he tries to say Jesus is Lord.
Because, you know, he wants to get a good meal, you know.
But all of a sudden as I'm looking at him, I thought he was messing with me.
His mouth was just shut closed.
It was just like if somebody wrapped him up with duct tape or something.
It's like if he had a broken jaw.
His mouth was just shut closed.
And he was physically trying to say, Jesus is Lord.
And he couldn't.
He was grunting and growling.
His face was turning...
Different shades of red.
Because he's trying to save Jesus.
Then he starts holding his neck as if something has him around the neck.
And he collapses to one knee.
One of the other officers next to me, we're all rookies at that point, the three of us, he said the temperature in that section of the jail just dropped about 40 degrees.
It was like a cold chill, like an ice cube.
I was kind of startled.
So, the other officer says, hey, Romero, knock it off, man.
Knock it off.
This is spooky.
We close the door, and I'm like, whoa, that was weird.
I said, Richard Ramirez, the night stalker, could not say the word Jesus is Lord.
Huh.
Now, what happened, remember, there's 200 guys I gotta feed, right?
And I knew where all the satanic serial killers were at.
So, we kept on feeding, and I did the same exact litmus test to two other satanic serial killers.
Same thing!
They had no contact with each other, solitary confinement, I mean, two feet of cement in between each other, steel door in front, they can't hear each other, they can't see each other.
I do the same protocol, if you will, to two other satanic serial killers, and guess what?
Same thing.
They could not say the name Jesus is Lord.
What was interesting, I asked some of the other sociopaths and psychopaths that weren't Satanists, because I had their police report, their psych eval, and their probation report, so I could read which ones were Satanic killers.
So I asked about three just psychopaths and sociopaths that were gang members, but they were not Satanists.
They could say Jesus is Lord.
I can tell you what happened to me at that moment.
I was 21 years old.
I had like a red pill moment.
And as I started driving home, I started asking myself, wow, maybe the Bible is true.
Right, right.
Well, you know, the...
I've done a little bit of reading of Catholic exorcists, and when they push the spirits out, the evil spirits out of someone that they're possessing, at least from what I've read, they always do so by invoking the name of Jesus Christ.
And it is in the name of the Lord that the demons are pushed away.
So what you're saying actually seems to make a lot of sense, that if a person who is totally possessed By Satan, or some spirit of Satan, that they couldn't form the words because it would be contradictory to the dark soul that is inhabiting their entire body.
It would almost be destroying themselves to even utter the words that Jesus is Lord, or anything similar to that, even to say, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Correct, but I didn't know that at 21.
Nor did I. I know that now, 30 years later, but at 21, I had no clue the power and the authority that the name of Jesus Christ commands.
Well, that is really fascinating information.
So that's kind of a test that people should remember out there because it seems like we're hearing from people all over the world of what they believe is the rise of demonic entities and satanic spirits all around the world and in society, even in mainstream politics now.
And many people would say that the celebration of infanticide, for example, post-birth abortion or murder of children is done sometimes in demon rituals or satanic rituals.
But people, how do we tell who is a satanist?
Are there some other clues that you've gained over the years that might help people identify these evil spirits as they walk among us?
Well, you have different brands of Satanists.
I mean, you know, some of them are covert.
I mean, some people, they just look like you and I. You know, they just look like normal John Q. Citizen.
You know, they could be your neighbor next door watering their grass and washing their car.
And you wouldn't know it because some people...
I mean, that's what the word occult means.
Occult means hidden or secret.
And so not all of them are open and all tatted down and basically, you know, disciples, open disciples of Satanism.
Many of them are very covert.
And many of them, without a doubt, they work in positions of power.
The Catholic Church actually says that One of the ways that Satan attacks his society is through politicians.
So this is Catholic teaching.
And it only makes sense because think about it this way.
The devil, who's a fallen angel, why does he hate this world so much?
I'll tell you why he hates the world so much.
Now this teaching comes from the rabbis, even precedes the time of Christ.
All the angels have an assignment.
And when God made Lucifer, who was a seraphim, he was the highest order of angel that God ever created.
When God made Lucifer, Lucifer's assignment was to be the protector of planet Earth.
So follow me on this.
Now that Lucifer has rebelled against God through envy and pride and now that he's a fallen angel, now what does he do?
Now he attacks planet Earth.
Because that was his assignment as a seraphim, as a good angel.
And this precedes Christianity.
This is rabbinic teaching that Lucifer was assigned by God to protect planet Earth.
So now it makes sense where the Bible says in 1 John 5, verse 19, it says, the whole world is in the power of the devil.
Why does not he attack the world as a prince of this world, as a god of this world, as St.
Paul says in 2 Corinthians 4.4?
Because...
Now he's turned all his hatred to that which he was assigned to protect by God.
I see.
Okay.
Yeah, that makes sense.
But then God is, of course, far more powerful, all-powerful.
God is watching all of this happen, and we know that God wins in the end.
But until then, what is the role of humans, many of whom seem to be highly susceptible to the satanic, I don't know, promises of freedom or whatever, you know, All of the seduction of the evil that is in our world today, you see it in Hollywood, you see it in the music industry, the music videos.
I'd actually like you to comment on the music videos too, where these famous singers, Lady Gaga and whoever else, Katy Perry, they're using just overt demonic imagery in their videos.
Is this part of a recruitment program or what is it?
Oh, without a doubt.
I mean, the Catholic Church says that the devil uses four things to tempt men and to basically enter into a relationship with people, because that's what happens.
That's what happens when somebody's diabolically afflicted, and there's levels of diabolical affliction.
You've got oppression.
Oppression means physical attacks of a demon.
We read that in the Bible.
St.
Paul was physically attacked by a demon.
He says it in 2 Corinthians 11.
Job was attacked by a demon.
He mentions it as well.
The second level of attack you got is called obsession.
Those are mental attacks.
And that's generally the way the demon attacks a lot of us.
Images, thoughts, bad words, phantasms.
He attacks the mind.
It's called obsession.
The third level of attack of a demon is called infestation.
Demons will attack articles.
They can attack animals.
They can possess animals.
It's called infest, actually.
They can infest houses.
I know in the world of media, they usually call it haunted houses.
In Christian history, Spiritual warfare, they're called house infestations because demons operate like flies and they come in packs.
And then the highest form of attack is called possession.
And that's when a demon attaches itself to a person's body.
By what's called the Law of Attraction or the Law of Invitation.
The person either invites a demon or the demon is attracted to evil people.
Demons are attracted to evil people, wicked people, and that's kind of an indirect invitation.
It's called the Law of Invitation or the Law of Attraction.
So those are the four levels of attack.
Those are called the extraordinary attacks of the diabolical.
Extraordinary.
Wait, what were the first two again?
Oppression is the first one.
Those are physical attacks of a demon.
Second one is called obsession.
That's a mental attack from the diabolical.
Got it.
The third attack is called infestation.
That's the attack on a house.
That could be an attack on animals and even on articles.
You got, for example, that famous movie, Chucky, the Chucky doll.
That's based on a true story.
That's based on an actual case that happened over in the Midwest.
And then the highest form of attack is called possession.
And a demon attaches itself.
A demon enters a person's body, but even in possession, the demon never has access to the person's soul.
The soul is always that chamber where we have that intimate communion and conversation with God.
In possession, a demon just attaches itself to the body, never to the soul.
So in some of these, for example, in possession, it's like the demon is using the human body as a puppet but kind of coexisting in a dominant way alongside the person's actual soul, but the person doesn't have necessarily control over their own actions.
Okay, when we talk about possession, the Catholic Church has been doing this for 2,000 years, and so they actually have a criteria of what determines possession.
And this has been around, I think, for about 1,600 years.
I think this was drafted in the 3rd century or 4th century.
So this is very old.
Yes.
Possession would be the four characteristics of demonic possession according to 1,700 years of Catholic practice would be number one.
A possessed person has an aversion to holy or sacred objects.
That's number one.
An aversion to holy or sacred objects.
Such as the Bible or a cross that you're wearing or holy water or something like that.
Correct.
Okay.
Okay.
The second thing that the demon has an aversion to, in possession, the person has what's called preternatural strength.
Preternatural strength.
I mean, you know, cops have seen guys that are under the influence of, you know, stimulants and how powerful they can be.
Demonic possession is, I would even say is beyond that.
I mean, you could have like a 12-year-old kid But it would take five or six grown men to hold the person down.
Wow.
The third thing that you have in demonic possession, you have the person is able to speak in foreign languages that they've never studied.
Speaking in tongues.
Yeah, they speak in foreign languages that they've never studied.
That's the fourth characteristic of demonic possession.
And the fourth characteristic of demonic possession would be that the person...
Knows things, has occult knowledge of things that they shouldn't know.
For example, I've seen, I've actually seen, where during a session where a priest was doing an exorcism, the possessed person, and it's the demon that, when the person goes in a trance, that's when the demon that's inside their body, the demon appropriates their senses and That's what possession is.
The actual possession is the demon appropriates your senses, your mouth, your vocal cords, appropriates your limbs, your body, and puts you in a trance.
The person possessed can see all this, but it's like a nightmare.
They can't stop it.
They can see all this, and they can feel the demon appropriating their body limbs and appropriating their senses.
And the fourth characteristic of possession is the person has hidden knowledge.
I'll give you an example.
In this one session where I was helping out in, the demon that was in the possessed person told one of the people that was helping the priest...
One of the assistants that are just basically does what the priest tells them, give me holy water, give me the cross, you know, give me this, hold them, give me some napkins, give me tissue, bring the trash can, hold them, let them go.
You're just basically, you know, at the service of what the priest is doing during the session.
The possessed looks at this one person that was assisting and said, hey, how was that girl you slept with that Friday in room number 747 in the Hilton Hotel?
She was fine, wasn't she?
And so the demon told one of the people in the room about a sin that they had committed very recently.
And the demon says, by the way, your prayers have no power.
Your prayers have no power.
I've seen that a few times.
So the demon had this knowledge that had to be acquired through a supernatural method.
And then this knowledge is enunciated through this person.
It's communicated through the possessed person.
Right.
Yeah.
So those are the four classical signs of possession according to Catholic teaching based on about 1,600 years of data.
And you've seen a lot of this firsthand, is what it sounds like.
And you've attended exorcisms?
Sessions, yeah.
Okay.
There's no lucky loser.
The sessions that I've been in, I was part of a team for many years.
And so you're invited by a priest to be part of it.
And they invite serious Catholics that are seriously living their faith and that know their faith at a deep level and practice it and live a clean life.
To help a priest in this ministry, you have to have a clean, ordered life.
Well, that makes sense.
Yeah, you can't be seduced by the dark side and then try to help a priest with an exorcism.
You will get called out right there in the session.
The demons have access to your unconfessed sins.
Now, when you confess your sins, like the Bible says in Jeremiah 31-34 and Isaiah, you know, God forgives and God forgets.
So when your sins are confessed and you're in a right relationship with God, the demon has no access to your sins.
But if you go into a session and you just ended up doing something with your girlfriend, not so clean, and you come in to help a priest, the demon is going to call you out if you walk into a session like this with unconfessed sin.
Wow.
Well, that must be why members of Congress don't assist with the exorcisms.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
Walking sin hubs there.
All right.
So if you don't mind me, I mean, this is amazing information.
And I assume, do you cover some of this then in your book or what exactly is in your book?
Yeah.
I cover a lot of this in my book, a lot of this that I'm giving you, and then I actually give a lot of stories as well.
I think here's something else, Mike, that you'll be kind of interested in.
I think it's kind of interesting.
I'll just mention it, and I think you'll find that more women are diabolically afflicted all the way to possession than men.
More women.
And why is that?
There's several reasons.
There's several theories from the great minds in the world of exorcism, the great professors of exorcism.
There's several theories.
Number one, The devil has a particular contempt for women because all women have the power to give birth.
And so all women remind him of what I as a Catholic would call the Incarnation.
When the Mother of God, the Blessed Virgin Mary, gave birth to Christ, the Son of God...
A woman reminds them of the incarnation, the virgin birth, that God became a man in the womb of this Jewish virgin woman.
And so every woman is kind of a type of Mary in the fact that they're able to give life.
Because the devil is all about death, remember?
The Bible says in John 8, 44, he's a liar and a murderer.
He's all about death.
And so, the second reason that he goes after women is, women have kind of this Eve characteristic.
What got Eve in trouble in the book of Genesis chapter 1 and 2?
What got her in trouble?
Her curiosity.
Her curiosity.
Women are very curious.
Oh, my friends invited me over here to get my palm read.
Oh, my other friends invited me over here to a tarot card.
I don't know what that is.
I'll try it out.
Oh, my friend gave me these rocks from Sedona, Arizona.
They're supposed to give you good luck.
Women are very curious, like Eve.
And as a result of that, women tend to enter into the world of the occult, the dark side, more than men.
Men are kind of like black and white.
They're like, hey, dude, you want to go play tarot cards?
Nah, man, give me a beer.
I want to watch a UFC fight.
No, I don't want to go play tarot cards.
What is that?
Give me a beer.
I want to sit down and watch these two guys in the cage beat each other up.
So women have that more Eve-like characteristic.
And the third reason why women get attacked more than men, the third one is because women, and feminists won't like this at all, but this is Catholic teaching.
This is biblical teaching.
Basically, all of mankind, and especially women, are saved through patriarchal protection.
Exorcists will tell you that Eve stepped out from underneath Adam's protection in the garden, and Adam had headship.
Adam is the man of the house who's called the lead to protect and provide.
That's a man's job.
Lead, protect, and provide.
A woman's job is Is to basically trust, surrender, and obey.
Where am I getting these virtues from?
If you look at the life of Joseph and Mary, this is where Catholics get this paradigm from.
Joseph led Mary, provided for Mary, And protected Mary.
You know that story where King Herod wanted to kill baby Jesus and Mary, and he fled to Egypt.
Now, Mary's job, in her feminine piety, she received.
Received God's message, the Holy Spirit.
Received Joseph as her husband.
Surrendered to God as her husband.
I am the handmaiden of the Lord.
Surrendered to her husband as a wife.
And trusted in God, in all things, and trusted in her husband that he'd make the right decisions.
And that's what Catholicism calls, the man is called to be the head of the home, and the woman is called to be the heart of the home.
Eve stepped out from under Adam's patriarchal protection.
So Eve was guilty of what exorcists call usurpation.
She's the one that confronted the serpent, the devil who took the form of a serpent, and instead she should have said, oh no, there's a serpent knocking at my door?
Honey, I'm going to hide behind you.
Protect me.
What was Adam guilty of?
Adam was guilty of, exorcist say, of dereliction.
Because if you read the text, Adam was there.
He was watching the whole thing.
He stood in the background and he did nothing.
There was maybe fear or cowardness.
And so Adam was guilty of dereliction.
And Eve was guilty of usurping the role of Adam.
And this is, again, another reason why...
More women are diabolically afflicted because many women today are not protected by their husbands.
Because how are you protected by your husband?
It doesn't just mean he goes and makes a big fat paycheck and has a roof over your head.
A woman is protected by her husband, his faith, his prayer, and his relationship with God.
Because a man's faith and prayer...
The grace flows through the rest of the family.
That's biblical teaching.
Patriarch Abraham was advocating for his entire tribe to God.
Lot was advocating to God for Sodom and Gomorrah.
Joshua was advocating to God for the Israelites.
You'll find in Scripture, you'll find it's always the man, it's a patriarchal protection that God has set up for civil law and for family law.
Well, what you're describing, you know, it really seems like a microcosm for most of society today where the men across society have surrendered their duty.
They are in dereliction of duty.
They're not protecting the family unit.
They're not protecting the culture.
And there are many women who have engaged in this usurpation process.
We have Jenny Durkan, the mayor of Seattle.
She wants to be in charge of leading the city and then she allows the city to be taken over by terrorists.
So she betrays all those who she had promised to protect.
I mean, this is exactly what you were just describing, except now it's on a massive global scale and there are many other examples of this.
I mean, it seems to be the way of evil creeping into our system.
That's right.
Yep.
You're absolutely right.
Well, let me...
Oh, I'm sorry.
Did you want to finish answering that?
Because I have a different question for you.
Okay, go ahead.
Okay, well, on really practical matters, a question that I have, and I've asked other people this question, and I think our listeners will have this question.
You talked about the four different levels of, you know, what is it?
Oppression, obsession, infestation, and possession.
And you talked about aversion to holy objects.
What practical things, if someone believes that they're going to be physically attacked or mentally attacked by individuals who are possessed or individuals who are agents of diabolical forces, are there physical, practical if someone believes that they're going to be physically attacked or And I know Hollywood has kind of dramatized this, you know, with the Keanu Reeves movies, you know, special weapons and things like that.
But are there actual real things that people can can have or say or practice that will protect them if they feel like they're being threatened?
Yeah.
If a person is in a right relationship with God in Catholicism, we call that in a state of grace.
I know other traditions use different words, but I'll just use a very generic language.
If you're in a right relationship with God, you're protected.
God protects His own.
That's biblical theology.
God protects those that He knows.
If you know Him and have a relationship with Him and live a clean, ordered life, you're protected.
You step out from under God's protection.
There's three ways you step out from under God's protection.
Even a Christian, by the way, a Christian steps out from under God's protection in three ways.
Number one, Because we're called to live clean lives, pure lives, when you move into uncleanliness.
Okay?
Like saying, you know what?
Hey, I'm going to go and buy a prostitute this weekend.
My wife's out of town.
You're a Christian man.
Okay?
That action, you've taken yourself outside of the protection of God.
Now you're open to diabolical affliction.
Here's another one.
Here's another common one.
Okay?
Okay?
A life of demons fear order.
Demons love disorder.
A person that lives a disordered life doesn't work, gets up at 10 in the morning, has a beer for breakfast, turns on a porn movie at 11, goes down the street, buys his medical marijuana.
Demons are attracted to lives of disorder.
One of the things that demons fear is order.
Because God's all about order.
I think it's in 1 Corinthians 14, verse 1.
It says, God is the God of order, not of confusion.
The third thing that demons fear, and by the same way they're also attracted to, the opposite.
Demons fear a life of somebody who's, a life of what's called, it's called Christian constancy.
What do I mean by that?
It's what I call the Daniel 6.10-11 principle.
Daniel, the boy prophet, says that he prayed three times a day towards God.
A person that has a well-ordered prayer life, what I would call the Daniel 6.10 principle, says his morning prayers, talks with God in the morning.
Gives some space to God in the afternoon.
Talks with God.
Talks with His Father.
In the evening, does nighttime prayers.
And prays before He goes to bed and blesses His wife, blessed His kids, His progeny.
You know, that ordered prayer life, that constancy, is something that demons fear.
They fear.
They fear.
In fact, you When you read the New Testament, you read that the Apostle says, and they prayed at 9 in the morning, and they prayed at 3 p.m., they prayed at 6 p.m.
We get this from the Jews, that we're supposed to consecrate the whole day with intermittent times of prayer.
And so, if you're not doing that, if you're living an unclean life...
If you're living a disordered life, and you're living a life where there's no constancy of prayer, you're open to diabolical affliction.
You have no protection against the diabolical.
Wow.
I don't care.
If you call yourself a pastor's kid, you have no protection.
That's what St.
Paul says, put on the full armor of God.
I just explained what the full armor of God was.
And you have to earn that yourself.
It can't be given to you.
No, no.
It's something that you have to, that's why the book of Hebrews says, strive for holiness, for without holiness, no one will see the Lord.
You have to, and that's why St.
Paul says, work out, Philippians 2.12, work out your salvation and fear and trembling, for it is God working in you and through you.
There's a synergistic effect.
God gives us His grace and love and mercy, but we have to reach out to Him.
We can't be passive spectators here.
We have to be dynamic.
We have to reach out to them.
Absolutely.
Okay, next question, follow-up question to that.
For someone to become possessed, do they have to invite that possession in willfully at some point?
of some chapters of the Black Lives Matter group founders, I think, in Los Angeles who have been involved in these weird occult rituals, witchcraft rituals like wearing demon wings and so on.
And I believe, if I remember correctly, one of those people described that they were welcoming these spirits in to speak through them, to help them with their war.
But they were talking like it was a wonderful thing, you know?
Like it was a seductive, powerful, almost an angelic kind of spirit.
But if you look back, you're like, no girl, those are demons.
But do people have to open the door to that?
No.
There's two ways to become possessed.
One is by invitation.
Some people actually make a pact to Satan, or to these spirits that they'll give different names to.
These are demons.
I don't care what you call them, or issue, or whatever you call them, they're demons.
And some people make what's called pacts, diabolical pacts.
Like Richard Ramirez, the guy I talked to you about, the serial killer in Los Angeles.
Other people invite the demon indirectly.
In other words, if you live a life of such a wicked, wretched life...
That opens up the door to the demon.
I'll give you an example.
If you're one of those persons who works for a Mexican cartel and spends your day running brothels, raping women, chopping people's heads off, and shooting it out with the police and other guys, and you're not openly praying to some demon or something.
You may even consider yourself a marginal Christian of some sort.
The fact of the matter is, The devil is attracted to evil people.
It's like a magnet.
And so indirectly, they invite the demon.
Or the other way is by a direct invitation, somebody that goes to a black mass, a seance, and say, yeah, I want to communicate with these spirits and I want to have them come into my body.
So there's a direct way to be possessed or an indirect way, but in both instances, the person's opened the door to the demon and invited that demon inside his body.
Now, some people, you know, I've seen throughout the cultural literature and some New Age movements and so on, some people believe they are talking to aliens.
Some people believe they're talking to interdimensional spirits of some other kind.
I've heard all kinds of different stories.
Some people think they're talking to dead people who are good people, who are trying to help humanity, and so on.
Are these just kind of cover stories for, what would you call it, obsession, sort of mental control?
Or are there other types?
Could an angel, an actual good angel, be talking to someone like that?
Yeah, as a Catholic, obviously we believe that God made all the angels instantly at a given moment in history, but a third of them fell and became fallen angels we now call demons.
Now, demons, as the Bible says, they could take the form of an angel of light.
They could take different forms.
They could take the form of a human being.
They could take the form of an animal.
And so in classical Catholic thought, What does a church that's been around for 2,000 years, what does a church generally say about UFOs?
Well, you'll find Catholic theologians, the traditional view of Catholic theologians is that the UFO phenomenon is of demonic origin.
And again, these are demons that are appearing, as it says in 2 Corinthians 11.14, appearing as an angel of light, And classical Catholic theologians from centuries will say, this is a demonic manifestation intended to take your eyes off of God and to take your faith off of God and make you chase these demonic shadows.
So yeah, demons will masquerade and come in the form that you want them to come based on what's in your memory.
Because the church teaches that, exorcists teach that, It's in the psychological realm that's the primary way that the angels and demons affect men is by moving his imagination.
And they do this by causing phantasms or illusions in the mind or apparitions in the imagination.
And so angels and demons are able to penetrate the psychological realm.
Well, yeah, certainly.
And that kind of leads me to something I wanted to ask you anyway, which is the expression of transgenderism.
We are now seeing a very strong push towards this transgender drag queen story hour phenomenon where basically cross-dressing adults dress up like demons to read stories to children in public schools.
And for some reason, most of the parents are okay with that.
But Doesn't it seem like, I mean, they're not even trying to hide it anymore.
They're just dressing up like demons and indoctrinating children with this weird transgenderism thing.
How are we allowing that even in society?
The genie's out of the bottle, Mike, just to be honest.
The three women from Black Lives Matter, they're witches.
They're professed witches.
They conjure up spirits of this cross-dressing in libraries with these lesbians reading stories to kids.
It's out in the open now.
It's not hidden any longer like it was back in the maybe 60s or 70s where maybe somebody was playing a Led Zeppelin album in his house and playing it backwards.
It's in your face now.
And in fact...
There are different denominations of the Church of Satan.
Some of them are involved in politics.
They're putting out political statements.
Some of them go out there in front of abortion clinics and they're harassing people that are out there, the pro-life people that are praying.
A lot of these Satanists that have actually gone to Maine, I know in Austin, Texas, you had all these Satanists with Satanic signs, Hail Lucifer, they were there as they were voting on this one bill, on this pro-life legislation.
Oh, that's right.
I remember seeing that, yeah.
But I'll tell you where it comes from.
I'll tell you, I think their base of operation, I would have to say, is Hollywood.
I'll have to say it's Hollywood because we also know from the Bible that demons, there's demons assigned to cities and demons assigned to nations.
That's in the Bible.
And so I know from my sources, from exorcists that work in that area, that That the demon of Los Angeles, because they all got names, and they'll give up their names during torture, during a session.
The demon of Los Angeles is called the demon of unreality.
That's his name.
He's called the demon of unreality.
We know that because he's given his name many times under duress to an exorcist, a Catholic exorcist, during a session.
Now that makes sense.
Think about that.
The demon of unreality, Satan assigned him to Los Angeles.
That's what you get coming out of Los Angeles.
It's the media capital of the world.
You get a lot of things that are not real, dare I say fake.
Well, yeah, this artificial reality and a twisted, perverted reality.
Look at Netflix now, which is putting out basically pedophilia movies, and it's not the first time they've done that either with this new film.
But this was one of my questions for you, is really how pervasive is demonic possession throughout Los Angeles in politics and Culture, the music industry as well as the movie industry.
I know there must be lots of possessions and infestations and so on, but I mean, how pervasive is this really in Los Angeles?
Now, to be honest with you, demonic possession is not as common as a lot of people think, and I'll tell you why.
Because the devil doesn't want The devil doesn't want to be identified.
And if he used the tactic of possession a lot more often, then it would just drive people to pray or drive people to church.
So that's the devil's final card that he plays.
Now what he does, he uses a lot of the lower ones.
And here's the five steps of the way he attacks.
Possession is his AR-15.
That's the last one.
That's the one he has in case everything else fails.
Step one, ordinary temptation.
That's the first line of attack.
Demons are projecting ordinary temptation all day to us.
From the time you wake up to the time you go to bed.
That's called the ordinary activity of the diabolical.
Then you go to the next rung of the ladder.
Now, this is called the extraordinary activity, the biodiabolical.
The first one is, as I said, oppression, physical attacks, obsession, mental attacks, infestation, attacks in your house, articles in your house, your animals, and then the final one, possession.
Now, there is a thing called, which is more common than most people, it's more common than possession.
It's called perfect possession.
And it's a term that I first heard back by Father Malachi Martin, who was an exorcist back in the 60s.
And he says that, and other exorcists have identified this as well.
Perfect possession is when a person that has total control of his intellect and his will and his faculties, where the person...
He gives, aligns his will entirely, gives his will, his consent, his intellect to the demon.
So it's when a human being aligns himself with the diabolical perfect consent, perfectly in his intellect and in his will, he gives over his faculties to the demon.
That's called perfect possession.
Wow.
You have Catholic historians and exorcists who identify several people in world history that were, without a doubt, perfectly possessed.
Joseph Stalin.
Adolf Hitler.
Plutonico Caius from Mexico.
These are people...
And the demon goes after powerful people like this.
And I'll tell you why.
Because...
A homeless person, a bum who's smoking marijuana every day, he has little influence over people and society, so the devil's not going to wait.
He's just going to keep projecting temptation at him all day, just causing him to tempt him and cause him to sin through ordinary temptation.
But that's not a big fish for a demon.
A big fish for a demon is a politician.
Why?
Because a politician or a CEO of a company, they can maximize damage Because they have untold power where they can...
Their personal disorders, they can project them and do maximum damage to a society, to a country, and to a city.
So demons prefer to go after these people for perfect possession.
So there are actually many people.
And you wouldn't know it because when somebody's perfectly possessed...
They're not going to manifest like you saw Linda Blair in that movie, The Exorcist, back in 1973.
Why would you see physical demonic eruptions within Linda Blair?
That's called a demonic manifestation.
Why?
That only happens when the victim wants to get rid of the demon.
Ah, right, the rejection of, okay.
Yeah, when the person wants help, God help me!
And they call the church for help, that's when the battle starts and all the physical manifestations in the body and in the senses, that's when they get attacked because they're trying to drive the demon out after having invited him in.
But in perfect possession, you're not going to get none of the Linda Blair physical manifestations because the person has completely with their free will and their deliberate consent has given themselves totally and aligned themselves with a demon.
So they're not going to shake or they're not going to twitch.
They're not going to growl.
They're not.
They're going to have a perfectly normal life and they're going to be your next door neighbor.
You'd never know they're perfectly possessed.
Wow.
And they may have an unusual rapid rise to power and influence in society for all the reasons that you just mentioned.
Because there's a trade-off, right?
I mean, when they surrender themselves to this demonic force, aren't they getting something in return, which is extra dark power to achieve whatever their aims are?
Yes, you nailed it, right?
You're spot on.
For example, I mean, you can look this up on YouTube.
There's interviews on this.
Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, just two names I'll throw off because these are facts.
They were nobody nightclub singers that nobody knew.
They were basically living from paycheck to paycheck, paying their rent from one month to another.
And they encountered somebody from the occult that promised them power and money.
That's always the draw to Satanism and witchcraft.
It's always the invitation, the allure.
You want to be rich and you want to be famous.
Lady Gaga says this in Katy Perry.
They consented, yes, what do I have to do?
And so they entered into a pact with the devil, a demon, and they entered into the world of the occult, and both of these women are no longer playing in the two-bit nightclubs.
Both of them are wealthier than they ever imagined and more popular than they ever imagined as well.
The devil will give you power and wealth in this lifetime at the expense of your soul in the next.
Right, and that's not a bargain.
I mean, you're giving up your eternal soul for just one life of riches, but you're hurting everybody else in the process.
Why would people even take that bargain?
You know, so short-sighted.
Let me ask you this, because we're coming up on the hour, but what else do you have on your website, jessieromero.com?
I mean, do you do articles, interviews, videos, podcasts?
What do you got going on?
I do a show three days a week, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
It's called Jesus 911, where I talk about this.
So I spend three hours a week on my podcast on Jesus 911, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, where I talk on spiritual warfare.
And I come from...
I'm steep in a biblical worldview.
I've got a master's degree in biblical theology.
But I'm also a practicing Catholic Christian.
So I also appeal to the centuries and centuries of Catholic exorcists and historians and thinkers that have written about this topic.
So I share this every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
And I answer people's questions regarding this area.
Because this is an area...
I think that everybody's curious about.
And I try to just put out not what Hollywood says, not what the latest Ghostbuster series says.
I put out what the church has been teaching for hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of years and has been field tested by exorcists.
Well, I'm really glad to hear about that, because when I was trying to find good books to learn about Catholic exorcism, and there really isn't a lot of literature out there that I could find that was readily available without going into libraries, perhaps.
There wasn't much out there.
Now, by the way, you know...
This interview here, this is going to be posted on brighteon.com.
You are welcome to post your podcasts or shows on brighteon.com because this is a pro-Christian worldview, pro-free speech platform.
You'll never be banned.
You'll never be shadow banned.
And frankly, we have a lot of Christians and pastors and different organizations joining as well.
So just wanted to welcome you there.
But finally, a last question on Christians.
There seems to be, A lot of apathy in the Christian communities today, even in Catholic churches, where people don't feel like they have to fight for anything anymore.
They feel like if they just tithe 10% and they show up at church every once in a while and maybe they have a Bible in the drawer at home, like, I'm good, I'm covered.
They don't realize there's a spiritual war going on.
This is not the time to be passive.
This is a time to fight in that war, fight for the future of our world.
I believe.
Yeah, that's exactly what St.
Paul talks about in Ephesians chapter 6.
Put on the full armor of God.
And he says, we're called to resist the wilies of the devil.
And he goes through all the pieces of a Roman soldier armor, sword, helmet, breastplate, belt, gird your loins.
He's talking to us.
Like, we're part of the Roman legion back 2,000 years ago, but this is a spiritual legion because we fight things that we can't see.
He calls them principalities and powers in high places.
Those are fallen angels.
Those are demons.
And here's the last thing that I want to just mention is that When I was a cop, and I saw this very early on as a result of encountering a lot of these serial killers in the county jail when I was a rookie, I ended up realizing that when I was working in the streets that there's two types of evil.
The evil that I could see, and I could arrest them and put my handcuffs on them and take them to jail.
I could see certain evil.
They had a human figure to it.
But there's another evil that I could not see.
You could never see in law enforcement.
You could only see with the eyes of faith.
And those are demons.
Demons is what I call primary evil, and we can't see them.
And then with human beings that cooperate with the diabolical, there's our secondary evil.
And so, there's two teams in the world.
1 John 3.10, the Bible says you got the children of Satan and the children of God.
And so, let's make sure that you choose wisely, because whatever side you choose...
You're going to be hanging out with them for all eternity.
And I don't know about you, but I want to hang out with Team Jesus and I want to be at that great wedding feast of the Lamb where there's no suffering and no pain and no crying and no wailing.
That's where I want to go.
I want to go to that wedding party that Jesus has invited me to.
Absolutely, with you 100% fighting for team humanity here and team Jesus the whole way through.
Also, as kind of a joke, I wish we could have more police brutality against the demons, you know?
But like you said, that's not the right force to fight the demons because you can't see them.
So, you know, like you said, that battle happens with your faith.
And you can't call on 911, but you can call on the Lord.
Amen.
You need to be doing it every day.
That's right.
Yeah.
And also, the essence of spiritual warfare, just remember, is that...
We've got to take this serious.
That's why the Bible calls us, Paul calls Timothy a soldier of Christ.
And that's what Paul would call us right now.
He's not calling us Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts for Christ.
He's calling us soldiers for Christ.
So it's time to put on our big boy pants.
Make sure you cultivate your faith life.
Make sure you have a strong prayer life.
And make sure you also have to live a life of order and purity.
Well said.
Yeah, an excellent reminder for all of us because no matter where we are in our lives, we can always do more.
We can read the Bible more.
We can pray more.
We can improve our lives.
We can rededicate our lives to God and to true light and the divinity of life and the sanctity of human lives and so on.
Jesse, it's been a real pleasure being able to speak with you today.
I can't thank you enough.
For your time, I just want to give out your website again, jesseromero.com, and your book again, The Devil in the City of Angels, My Encounters with the Diabolical.
Again, thank you for joining us, and if you'd be willing to come on again in the future, I'd like to ask you other questions then, like, what did your fellow cops think about all this?
You know, things like that, a lot of other questions.
We'll pick it up again.
Yeah, we'll do it again, for sure.
I enjoyed this.
Alright, me too.
Thank you so much, Jesse.
God bless you.
Stay strong.
I think your message is very vital for humanity right now.
And in fact, if you will email my producer your videos, you know, your posts, I will go ahead and repost those on our social media and assign some writers to cover it as well.
Mike, thank you very much.
I appreciate that.
Well, fellow warriors, you know, on the same path here, so we've got to help each other.
Thanks, partner.
