Welcome to this Prep With Mike podcast.
I'm Mike Adams, your host.
I always appreciate your support and be sure to check out all the other videos and podcasts at prepwithmike.com.
Today's topic is the survival mindset and protecting your stuff.
So you may have a lot of preps that you've gathered food supplies, ammunition, firearms, who knows, maybe gold and silver.
How do you protect those?
Even if you're not, you know, a Navy SEAL. Well, guess what?
In this podcast, I'm going to give you a lot of great information about how to do that, no matter what your age, no matter what your gender.
Even if you're frail or elderly, you're going to learn here how to protect your stuff.
Now, very quickly, be sure to check out prepwithmike.com, which is the website that carries these audio podcasts and videos, and they are how-to videos.
How to make things, how to do things, how to choose things.
And one of the latest videos is how to make your own shikimic acid extracts using a common off-the-shelf espresso machine.
And that can be very useful during pandemics.
So check out that video.
I think you'll really enjoy it.
Now, getting on to today's podcast topic.
A lot of people who are elderly...
Especially older women think that they're not maybe physical enough to be able to protect their stuff.
But guess what?
A lot of it is about posturing and your mental willingness To do what is necessary to protect your things.
So, in other words, starting with owning a firearm, and you can do this at any age, and remember that there are now pistols available that people can rack the slide on those pistols even if they don't have very strong forearms.
And a lot of women, senior citizen women, are buying these pistols.
I think M&P makes one.
It's called the Nine Easy.
And I've also seen one from another company.
I forgot the name of it.
But they only take about half the strength to rack the slide.
And I own one of these.
I bought one because I wanted to try it.
And sure enough, it's very easy to manipulate the pistol.
So thanks to this pistol, you can be a person of any age and you can wield the same power as a Navy SEAL with a 9mm.
And by the way, those MP5 guns that are popularly used in Hollywood and so on that look badass, you know?
They're just 9mm rounds.
So you can have the exact same firepower in your hands with one of these easy pistols.
But it's not just about firearms training and knowing how to manipulate a firearm or how to be proficient in it.
There's something about the mindset that I really want to get across here.
There's a mindset of aggressiveness that is necessary for surviving all of this and defending your stuff.
So let's suppose you're in your home and you're alone.
You've got your pistol.
You've got spare magazines.
You've got all these amazing things.
However, you've got looters outside your home.
They knocked on your door.
You told them to go away.
They refused to leave.
They're casing your house.
They're walking around your house.
You've seen them go by the windows.
You've seen them trying to get into the back door and you're convinced that they're going to break into your maybe front door or window or back door at any moment.
And you're in a collapse kind of scenario here, right?
This is a time when you can't really call 911 because maybe the power grid doesn't work or They're already occupied or, heck, the police may not even exist in your area due to left-wing police defunding.
So what do you do in this scenario?
Now, of course, with the disclaimer that you should check your local laws because they do vary state by state, and you should decide what's best for you.
But perhaps you've heard them through the door screaming something like that they're going to kill you.
They're gonna come in and kill you or they're gonna assault you or rape you or something.
And perhaps you've even seen that one of them or more are carrying a gun.
Do you have the right to defend yourself from within your home before they break into your home?
And again, check your local laws.
But I'll tell you what I would do.
I would have my AR-15 rifle And the minute that they made that threat, that they're going to come in and kill me, I would start shooting them through the door, through the walls, through the windows, through anything because those rounds penetrate.
Now a lot of people...
You know, they wouldn't have thought of that.
And this is part of why it's so important to have a lot of firearms training.
You learn the difference between cover versus concealment.
And frankly, a front door is not cover.
It's just concealment.
AR-15 rounds go right through it.
If I got a bunch of goons at the front door who are threatening to kill me, And that's a credible threat, and I fear for my life, I'm going to put some rounds, a lot of rounds, through the front door.
Because I can replace the door, you see?
But for some reason, that's a mental block to a lot of people.
They don't want to damage their own home.
But this is the mindset that you need to switch if you're going to survive all this.
You've got to be willing to shoot up your own house or even to put rounds through your car.
Let's say you're in your car and there's bad guys with weapons threatening to kill you and trying to break into your car.
Can you shoot them from within your car?
You know, shoot through the door panel, shoot through the window.
Technically, you can.
Just beware that you're going to go deaf if you do that, just letting you know.
You will probably not hear, maybe never.
So it better be a life-threatening situation.
The better thing to do is to use your car as a way to get out of there.
Escape!
And in some states, it's perfectly legal to escape by, even if you have to, running over the bad guys who are threatening to harm you.
But again, check your local state laws and, you know, make your own decision about what's right for your particular circumstances.
But if I'm in a car or a truck...
And I got a bunch of people trying to attack me and trying to break the windows and get in and threatening to kill me.
I'm going to try to drive that truck out of there rather than shoot through the truck door because, again, I like to be able to hear.
But you may have to shoot.
But the point is...
Even if you destroy your car or even if you destroy your lovely house, your new kitchen, if you have to shoot through the cabinets and the windows and shatter glass, you've got to be able to make that decision and do it and not have this artificial barrier that a lot of people have.
They think, well, you can't shoot through the door.
You have to wait for people to come in.
No, you don't.
Not if they've made threats against you and they have the credible ability to carry out those threats because you've seen them carrying weapons and so on, and maybe they have a history of attacking other homes in the area.
You don't have to wait for them to break down your door.
You can start shooting.
Hence, the need for Not only having a pistol, but if you can handle it, some kind of a rifle like an AR-15.
And then also, by the way, it's great if you can afford it to have night vision.
Because a lot of these attacks are going to happen at night.
And so one of the best things that you can do is turn off all your lights, put on your night vision gear.
Suddenly you can see, but they can't unless they also have gear, which some of them might, but most of them won't.
And now...
You can make the choice about when to engage, but you've got to, if you want to survive this, you can't be meek.
You can't act like a victim.
You want to chase them away?
Be the predator of them.
You know, once they cross that threshold of threatening your life and so on, you go after them.
You take them down.
And you might even get all of them.
I don't know how many you're imagining might be surrounding your house, but it could be three or four or five.
You could probably take out two or three with the first surprise shots through the front door.
And the others would probably just flee, by the way.
And that would be a good time maybe to go to an upstairs location, keep an eye on the situation, and they...
If they still try to threaten you, you might be able to take them out from an elevated position as well.
But you've got to be willing to take the shot once they've crossed that threshold of being a threat to your safety.
So a lot of it really is a mindset.
And they say that a lot of people hesitate when it comes to taking the shot.
But you know who doesn't hesitate?
Criminals.
They absolutely do not hesitate at all, especially the hardened, violent criminals.
And when I lived in Tucson and I was working as a board member with the police foundation there, I interviewed cops for a little book series I did back then.
I interviewed cops about the mindset of criminals Who are trying to loot your home or trying to attack you.
And I got a lot of good information about that.
And the mindset was that criminals prey on the weak.
They deliberately, you know, they want to stalk and attack weak people.
They're looking for signs of weakness and they absolutely despise signs of strength.
So if you start to show strength in any way in your posturing, in returning fire, for example, or even taking the first shot through your door, you're showing aggressiveness.
Criminals make a calculation.
Their calculation is a risk versus reward type of calculation.
They're trying to figure out, is it worth the risk I'm taking in order to get into this house and get whatever loot might be in there?
there.
They don't necessarily know what loot you have, so they don't know if the risk is worth it at all.
So all you have to do is raise the risk bar for them, and then suddenly they're going to do a little calculation and say, hey, it's not worth it.
There are easier places for them to go, places that aren't going to fight back or shoot back or shoot through their own front door.
So just by taking out even one of their people or just wounding them with some gunshots, you're going to make them realize, hey, guess what?
There's a fight here if you proceed.
Well, if they proceed.
Yeah, sure, they can kick in the door and they can try to hunt you down and kill you, but you might be waiting in the dark with maybe a 60-round magazine in your AR ready to blast holes in the whole gang.
And if you've already shot one of them, they know you're willing to do it.
So they're going to recalculate and probably move on.
So keep that in mind.
Aggressiveness and posturing is the key to all of this.
Never appear weak.
Never appear as a victim because that will only make them more aggressive against you.
They love that.
They love it when you play the victim.
That actually kind of gets them going and then they're more aggressive.
When you start playing The role of the defender or even the aggressor back against them, it flips their script and they will rethink everything they're doing.
So that's my advice on the topic.
Take it for what it's worth.
Be sure to check your local laws before making any such decisions.
I'm talking from the perspective of Texas law, but your own local laws may differ, especially if you're in different countries.
But, you know, I never recommend doing anything illegal or immoral.
This is all about the moral actions of self-defense to protect your life against those who are trying to harm you.
So keep that in mind.
Thank you for listening.
