Okay, welcome everybody.
This is Mike Adams with naturalnews.com.
Joined today by Susie Cohen, the author of several very outstanding books on health and drug muggers, for example, was one of the books.
Today, she has a new book out called Diabetes Without Drugs.
And this is the book.
It's available in bookstores everywhere and booksellers.
And Susie joins us today to talk about this book.
Thanks for joining us, Susie.
My pleasure.
It's always an honor to be with you.
Well, I always enjoy having you as a guest.
You're so knowledgeable.
Just so that people know your background, you are a pharmacist.
I am.
I'm a pharmacist, but more than that, I'm a rebel pharmacist because I like to give people the truth about their medications, how to stay safe on them, and what natural alternatives that they can take in lieu of medications because I'm really very upset with the way that Big Pharma is pushing the next best drug on everybody, so it just really gets my juices flowing.
This surprises a lot of people because when they typically think about pharmacists, they're thinking, well, pharmacists want...
They're sort of pushing a lot of drugs.
Even though they're not the ones prescribing them, they are fulfilling them and sort of typically have a pro-drug attitude.
Now, you're not anti-drug.
You're just, I would say, balanced in what works and what might be problematic.
Can you talk about that philosophy?
That's a great point.
I'm glad you said that because people do think I'm a bit of a rebel and I'm anti-drug, and I'm not.
There's a place for medication.
If they took medication away, many people would die today if it just ended.
So I definitely believe that people with asthma should remain on their inhalers.
People with seizures should stay on their seizure medication so long as it's working.
And of course any changes need to be discussed with the physician.
The problem is that people think that every time they have an ill, they need a pill.
It's ridiculous!
I mean, every time they burp, they need to be put on an acid blocker forever.
Like, that's going to fix it.
And the truth is that most people who have heartburn really suffer from a condition of low acid.
So suppressing it with more drugs really just makes the condition worse.
This was published by Rodale in May 2010.
It's available in softcover in November 2010 in bookstores nationwide.
And it teaches people how to reverse diabetes without drugs.
There is a way.
We can wake up sleeping genes in your body that turn on a switch to burn fat and sugar.
You don't need to take drugs necessarily for the rest of your life.
You can save your eyesight, save your kidneys, and save your legs with my book, Diabetes Without Drugs.
I'm very, very proud of it.
Save your legs.
Actually, I have the Save Your Leg Diet in the back.
Really?
Yes, because I used to work in nursing homes for seven years, and so I was touched deeply as a young woman, as a young pharmacist, working in nursing homes for so many years, watching the residents in these nursing homes Lose their parts one at a time.
It would start with the toe, then the leg, then the whole leg was gone, then the other leg.
You're talking about amputations, medical amputations here.
Yes, it was so unnecessary.
If I knew back then, what I know now, I could have helped these people.
But it's continuing every day.
There's thousands of amputations that are taking place.
Unnecessarily, and people are losing quality of their life.
They're losing their life, as a matter of fact.
Isn't diabetes the number one cause of amputations in America?
Yes.
It's so sad.
And I'm so inspired to help people get better and improve their lives naturally.
And I also offer tips on medication if you have to take it, because as a pharmacist for 22 years, I recognize the importance of medication.
But it's not something that you need to take forever.
People need to understand there are natural options.
And this is a groundbreaking book, and the A4M group actually selected it for required reading for doctors seeking board certification in diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
Can you run down the books that you have authored for those watching?
The books that I've authored include The 24-Hour Pharmacist, which is a health handbook, This helps teach you how to get off medications and use alternative natural nutrients instead in order to help yourself with things like fatigue, Or osteoporosis, heart disease, insomnia, depression, even snoring, even toenail crud.
I don't miss a thing.
That's the 24-hour pharmacy.
That's under the tea section, right?
Yes.
That's popular, available in numerous languages.
And I also am the author of Drug Muggers, which is an incredible book.
It teaches people about drug nutrient depletions.
For example, if you're taking a statin drug, and the statin drug, things like Lipitor, Zocor, Mevacor, Pravacol, Crestor, these are used to lower cholesterol and they deplete nutrients in your body such as coenzyme Q10. And when you run out of CoQ10 you could get leg cramps and memory problems and heart disease.
So, it's the drug mugging effect, and that's what drug muggers teaches people.
And those side effects that you just mentioned, those are often side effects reported by people taking statins, right?
Right.
Right.
Those are the side effects of statins.
But people don't understand that when they take a statin drug that this can happen to them.
So they wind up on the medication merry-go-round, and they need a drug for their memory.
Then they need a drug for erectile dysfunction.
Then they need a drug for depression.
And before you know it, they're taking five different medications.
One, in the first place, it was just the drug nutrient depletion.
It was just the drug monging effect from drug number one.
And so this is all covered in my book, Drug Muggers.
As a pharmacist, what's your view on the vaccination issue with swine flu vaccines?
It's hotly debated.
You know where I stand on it, but I'm curious what your point of view is.
I was never for the swine flu vaccination.
You and I agree.
I felt that that was fast-tracked through the FDA. There weren't enough safety tests.
I wasn't happy about that whole situation.
And in fact, I wrote a syndicated column, which some of my papers refused to print.
They wouldn't print it.
They wouldn't print it.
And instead, a couple of them ran advertisements to go get the flu vaccine.
Oh, great.
And, you know, it kind of all fizzled out, thank goodness.
But the fear among people, and they were coming in the pharmacy and they were buying, cleaning out our shelves in preparation for this huge pandemic.
And more people died from certain drug side effects from medications that are FDA approved that we're selling in the pharmacy.
Right.
Than the swine flu.
Right.
Well, now speaking of epidemics and pandemics, now diabetes is considered an epidemic disease.
It's killing far more people than swine flu ever did.
Diabetes is a sad, sad situation because in my book, it's completely preventable and reversible.
In my book.
That book, to be exact.
Save Your Legs.
Save Your Legs by Mike Adams.
And your toes.
That should be your quote.
Absolutely.
You know, there's this mentality among Americans that we can eat what we want and all these juicy commercials on TV that are just tantalizing.
And the food is addictive.
There's chemicals in it.
I'm sure there has to be.
I haven't actually researched this.
Oh, there are.
You have.
And it makes people crave these foods that are bad for them.
But they think it's okay because they can go to the pharmacy and they can get their medication and that will help them.
But it's, you know, it's not the way to...
People need to revamp their life and revamp the way they think and they need to get out of the mentality that they need a pill for every ill.
Have you received letters, thank yous, from people who read either this book or previous books about the results that they're getting by following some of your information?
Yes.
It's so heartwarming because it balances out some of the conventional practitioners who aren't sure what to make of the white coat pharmacist of 22 years.
Preaching holistic, natural medicine.
They can't figure that out.
But it makes me so happy.
Every hour, I'm circulated to millions of people and not an hour goes by that someone doesn't write to thank me.
It's so heartwarming.
And for those of you that are watching, thank you for supporting my work.
It means so much to me.
It's the thing that keeps me going and writing the books to give you the information and arm you with the education that you need to live a healthy, balanced life.
