Don't you love when people on the left have to change their opinions in order to comport with whatever the hell they think the real world is or whatever they're supposed to think?
Even though you know and I know they're changing their minds, In order to comply?
Honestly, I don't understand.
I don't get what the big deal is here.
Carla Sophia Gascog expressed her opinions.
You know, she's up for the Oscars and all this.
Anyway, she expressed her opinions.
And like any public figure, she's now being forced to retract them because it doesn't fit Hollywood's rigid leftist ideology.
Now, the woman...
Trans woman or whatever.
There's a talented actress nominated for an Oscar.
And instead of celebrating her success, they're combing through old tweets to drag her down.
No pun intended.
Now let's break down and unpack, as they say, what's really going on here.
Back in 2021, Gascon posted several Controversial tweets.
She commented on the increasing visibility of Muslims in Spain.
Wow!
Saying, quote, Is it just my impression?
Or are there more Muslims in Spain?
Every time I go to pick up my daughter from school, there are more women with their hair covered and their skirts down to their heels.
Next year, instead of English, we'll have to teach Arabic.
Uh-huh.
And the point is, what exactly?
Critics have, of course, labeled this tweet as discriminatory and horrible.
But let's be honest.
It's a viewpoint shared by many who are noticing cultural shifts in their communities.
Nobody has any problem with lefties talking about MAGA changes?
Oh, you can say anything you want about Trump or Republicans, and it's okay.
But expressing concern over those shifts doesn't automatically make someone a bigot.
Last time I checked, and then there was her, I guess sarcastic or sardonic post about a Muslim family accompanied by a picture of a woman in a burqa stating, quote, Islam is marvelous without any machismo.
Women are respected.
And when they are so respected, They are left with a little squared hole on their faces for their eyes to be visible and their mouths, but only if she behaves, although they dress this way for their own enjoyment.
How deeply disgusting of humanity!
Okay, yes, this was biting and harsh, but sarcasm is often a way of people to express frustration with practices that they see as restrictive to women's freedom.
And that's her opinion.
Now, instead of dissecting the context, these critics jumped on the chance, the bandwagon, to label her, of course, anti-Muslim.
And her criticism didn't stop a religion.
Oh, no.
She took aim at organized religions in general, saying, quote, I am so sick of...
I am so sick of so much of this shit of Islam, of Christianity, of Catholicism, and of all the effing beliefs of morons that violate human rights.
Okay.
Now this broad condemnation might have been blunt, it might have hurt, you may not like it, but she wasn't exactly wrong to criticize how certain belief systems have contributed to human rights issues.
Instead of having a debate about it, People have taken her words as fuel to fadden the outrage.
And of course, my dear friends, of course, the most controversial comments surrounded George Floyd.
Oh, my God!
St. George of Floyd!
And days after Floyd's death or overdose, whatever you want to call it, Gascon posted the following, quote, I really think that very few people ever cared about George Floyd.
A drug addict swindler.
But his death has served to once again demonstrate that there are people who still consider black people to be, quote, I'm quoting now, to be monkeys without rights and consider policemen to be assassins.
They're all wrong.
Now people pounced on her for the insensitivity of the statement.
But she wasn't denying the tragedy of his death.
She was pointing out the complexity of the reaction.
Both from those who dehumanize black people and those who demonize all law enforcement.
Now that's kind of a nuanced take, but nuance is the first casualty when the internet decides to cancel someone.
Now look, she even made comments about the 2021 Oscars, criticizing the event for what she saw as pandering.
Quote, this is her quote, Are looking like a ceremony for independent and protest films.
I didn't know if I was watching an Afro-Korean festival, a Black Lives Matter demonstration, or the 8M.
Apart from that, an ugly, ugly gala.
Now think about that.
Some saw this as disrespectful to diversity, but it's really just her opinion on how the event felt over-politicized.
Are people no longer allowed, I can't believe I'm asking this, are people no longer allowed to critique the direction of an award show?
So, now she's issued an apology saying she is deeply sorry to those I have caused pain.
And emphasizing that, as a marginalized person herself, she understands suffering.
But here's the problem.
Why should she have to apologize for anything?
For having opinions?
Isn't the point of diversity supposed to include differing perspectives and opinions?
Divergent, diverse opinions?
She's not calling for harm against anyone.
Nor is she spreading misinformation.
It's opinion.
She simply holds opinions that don't align.
With the Hollywood left.
Now look, this would be a perfect example of how selective outrage works.
If her comments lean the other way, would there be so much backlash?
Come on, you know, it's doubtful, but it's not going to happen.
The entertainment industry claims to champion free expression, free speech.
But it's obvious that only certain viewpoints from certain people are allowed.
Gascon is now being pushed into damage control mode, not because she's a terrible person, but because she dared to express opinions that challenge the dominant narrative.
Her statements about Fernanda Torres and the supposed online attacks against her film Emilia Pérez only add fuel to this political fire.
But even there, her point was clear.
Look.
Let's compete on merit, not tear each other down online.
And yet, even that has been twisted into another controversy.
So what do people want from her?
She's apologized, clarified her stance, and even addressed the social media toxicity that she's had to face.
But let's face it, no apology is ever going to be enough for those who have already decided to condemn her.
This is just another case, another example, another instance of public figures being forced to bend to the will of a loud minority that thrives on outrage.
It's their oxygen.
What do you think, my friends?
Weigh in.
