| I have been fascinated by killers my whole life. | |
| And the reason why I'm fascinated by them is the same reason the doctor is fascinated by cancer. | |
| The mechanism of cancer. | |
| You don't like cancer. | |
| You're not happy with cancer. | |
| You don't want cancer. | |
| But the only way you're going to ever cure it is to understand it. | |
| And there's one thing that you have to understand about this country. | |
| We produce nuts. | |
| Crazy. | |
| Loons. | |
| Unlike any other country. | |
| You see, if you look at Venezuela, and if you look at various, the Bahamas, and Mexico, there are absolute, I mean, more guns and gun murders than you can imagine, but they're done for a reason that makes sense. | |
| If it makes sense. | |
| Drugs, turf, crime. | |
| Here, Somebody goes nuts, breaks up, reads something, hears a weird song, and starts shooting. | |
| This is the difference. | |
| This is it. | |
| It's our mental illness. | |
| The shooters that we have are crazy. | |
| We have 325 million people in this country, 400 million guns. | |
| We have one gun, obviously, more than one per person. | |
| There aren't people going in and shooting up, you know, schools and nursery schools. | |
| That doesn't happen. | |
| The people are there. | |
| The guns are there. | |
| This is unique. | |
| And listen, and listen better than you ever have listened in your life. | |
| And it's so fundamentally obvious, so incredibly obvious that anybody even with two neurons, And a working synapse can figure this out. | |
| We have to stop glorifying these people after they shoot. | |
| If I hear one more person say, loner kept to himself. | |
| What is this, a joke? | |
| Do you have to say this? | |
| Is this some rule that mandates that you have to say this? | |
| You must say this? | |
| I don't understand it. | |
| What is it? | |
| He's a loner. | |
| He kept to himself. | |
| Who cares if he's a loner? | |
| What do you want, a life of the party? | |
| A guy with a lampshade on his head. | |
| Hey, Bob Ariba. | |
| They've been saying this forever. | |
| And then we talk about it and we move on. | |
| We never get into what's really behind these stories because they don't want you to go too deep. | |
| They really don't want you to find, believe it or not, how in some cases, they're really sort of normal. | |
| And that this psychopathy, this derangement, doesn't really leave a lot of footprints. | |
| It just kind of pops out of nowhere. | |
| So here's the bottom line. | |
| If you're a loner, And you keep to yourself. | |
| And you're a complete and utter zero. | |
| A nothing. | |
| A nullity. | |
| If you're a grease spot on the highway of life. | |
| I mean, if you're nothing. | |
| Then I can guarantee you a place in posterity. | |
| A place in the pantheon of American shooters. | |
| Just do it. | |
| And leave a real good Facebook or social media legacy, a provenance. | |
| We'll go through it. | |
| We'll interview your family, your friends. | |
| Should have three names. | |
| That's classic, you know, serial killer stuff. | |
| But we will give you all of the attention and the praise and the excitement and everything you've always wanted. | |
| We'll give it to you. | |
| We will give it to you. | |
| Good news! | |
| We will make you a star. | |
| That's how stupid we are. | |
| We will make you a star and then forget about you like you've never existed. | |
| We'll never do any follow-ups. | |
| No, no, no, no. | |
| We'll talk about your gun. | |
| Where you got it. | |
| How many rounds it has. | |
| Did you buy it? | |
| Is it a ghost gun? | |
| Did you get it at a gun show? | |
| How many rounds does it have? | |
| How many? | |
| And then, like the last lunatic, I don't even know their names, and I never mention their names. | |
| This is a guy who had, what, $1,800, $2,000 worth of weaponry? | |
| And he works for Burger King or whatever? | |
| Does anybody follow up on anything? | |
| No. | |
| Remember the lunatic in Aurora, Colorado? | |
| Remember that? | |
| You heard anything about that? | |
| No. | |
| Remember the sniper in Las Vegas? | |
| What was that about? | |
| No. | |
| Remember that story? | |
| Remember the story? | |
| Were you paying attention? | |
| Or does that... | |
| Do you think it might be a conspiracy theory or something? | |
| Remember that story? | |
| Remember how much ammunition this guy had to have lugged up? | |
| I mean, just... | |
| We're a country that gave you Columbo. | |
| We have all of these true crime podcasts. | |
| We always like true crime. | |
| We got Nancy Grace on TV all the time. | |
| You would think that we would just be absolutely fascinated and involved in the mechanics and the organic circuitry, the hard wiring of our killers. | |
| But we don't! | |
| We don't know anything! | |
| We follow up. | |
| We do this, our hearts and our thoughts and prayers. | |
| Oh, our thoughts and prayers are with it! | |
| We think and we pray. | |
| And then somebody, who was this man? | |
| And then we go back and then we wait and we do it again. | |
| Now, I'm telling you, I'm telling you, there are some cultures that have different things. | |
| Honor killings in this country. | |
| You've got revenge killings in this country. | |
| And you've got stabbings over here. | |
| But when it comes to just effed up, As we say, I mean really, really serious. | |
| It's this country. | |
| But what's really effed up, if we're talking about effing, how we glorify these people. | |
| You see, here's the thing. | |
| Killers are a strange group. | |
| They're not interesting. | |
| The type of killing is interesting. | |
| Serial killers, most of them, do not want fame unless you're... | |
| Raider, or the Green River Killer, or the Green River BTK, remember that one? | |
| Sort of, kind of, stop me before I kill again thing. | |
| But most of them do not want any kind of fame. | |
| Ted Bundy didn't. | |
| They just wanted to kill. | |
| And what's interesting about serial killers, Is that serial killers are the rarest of the rare. | |
| There are people in prison serving multiple life sentences for serial rape for some murders, but not serial killing. | |
| They never had to go out and kill people to quench some weird bloodlust. | |
| Serial killers are just the most... | |
| The most fascinating, not the killer, the mechanism. | |
| It's like cancer is very interesting. | |
| Some cancers, AIDS is a very interesting mechanism, a very interesting pathology. | |
| There was a guy years ago, Pierce Brosnan, who is to me, frankly, one of the most boring people. | |
| This guy couldn't lure me out of a Bernie building. | |
| Now, Pierce Brosnan interviewed somebody one time, one of these serial killers, and I'll never forget this, and it made complete and total sense. | |
| They asked him, why did you do this? | |
| And this fellow said, Mr., I keep saying Pierce Brosnan, poor thing, Remington Steele, you know what I'm saying, Pierce Morgan. | |
| He said, did you ever, did you ever get excited doing something? | |
| Do you like to do something? | |
| This is this killer, Pierce Brosnan. | |
| He said, the first time I killed somebody, he said, I could see the atoms vibrate. | |
| He talked about an excitement. | |
| First time I've ever heard anybody explain this motivation. | |
| Then we get these Jadroles, who they don't, they're not into serial killing, they want glory. | |
| They're just, and they tell everybody, hey, look at me! | |
| Let me leave my artwork for you. | |
| Let me leave a manifesto. | |
| So if ever you have any doubt as to why I'm doing this, and I'm throwing my life away. | |
| And what's so funny about Serial. | |
| Isn't it great about social media? | |
| Boy, if you say something, the wrong thing about Trump or Ivermectin or some type of COVID claim, if you provided a disinformation, oh, you're dead. | |
| You're through. | |
| You're finished. | |
| You're Elvis. | |
| But you can go out there and basically list the breakdown of a future murder and nobody says anything. | |
| There's no... | |
| There's no Facebook jail. | |
| Excuse me, this is your third threat to take people out, Mr. Whitman. | |
| Remember the University of Texas, the Bell Tower case? | |
| This guy would love it. | |
| He could tell people, now what I'm going to do, I'm going to climb this Bell Tower. | |
| Fine. | |
| Just don't say any disinformation. | |
| Don't mention anything about January 6th. | |
| Don't say anything about Trump. | |
| And you're solid. | |
| This is how demented we are. | |
| We have this flypaper that these degenerates go to called social media. | |
| And you'd think somebody along the line would say, listen, we've got more algorithms. | |
| If they use code words, if they use guns, kill, we will be on this so fast. | |
| Make your head spin. | |
| We know. | |
| We know what we're looking for. | |
| We've got people who just... | |
| Go ahead and try doing it. | |
| Like Facebook. | |
| Warned me with something over a cartoon that's like five years old that somebody said, this isn't real. | |
| It's a cartoon. | |
| Well, it's misinformation. | |
| It's a cartoon. | |
| It's a lampoon. | |
| It's a joke. | |
| But we don't know how to do anything about these killers. | |
| No algorithms for that. | |
| But remember, he's forgotten. | |
| These were done. | |
| What will be done is we'll exploit the fact that a firearm was used. | |
| I like the way Biden said, well, it's another senseless, senseless gun violence. | |
| Have you ever heard of a gun violence that made sense? | |
| Like, you know what? | |
| That was a pretty logical gun violence. | |
| We're a country of platitudes. | |
| We say nothing. | |
| We say drivel. | |
| That's what we do. | |
| In any event. | |
| Be careful. | |
| Now let me tell you something. | |
| There's going to be more of these. | |
| And do you know why? | |
| Because we keep making heroes out of these people. | |
| That's why. | |
| Now I'd love to hear what you have to say about this. | |
