Time Text
What do you think about the new the new this new oh uh that's who they want to cast?
Yeah, I mean I'm all for it.
You're all for it I'm all for it.
I wouldn't say that there's any reason why they wouldn't be happy with it other than his face.
But you can always put makeup on.
So we should do like a white face.
No.
If you don't want to watch the new one just don't watch the new one.
Yeah, you know.
Alright.
Well, well, I mean he could identify as white, right?
Uh that's a little bit different.
I mean, unless you want to bleach your skin.
So you'd want him to explain if he wanted to identify being white, but not if he would explain.
I don't have questions.
Okay.
But not if he said he was a woman?
I mean, yeah.
Okay, so talking about Harry Potter, so they're making a TV series with Harry Potter now.
And they're casting the gentleman on the left in place of Snape.
A lot of people are not happy about this because obviously he does not look anything like the character.
What are your thoughts?
It's been a really long time since I read the book.
Like full on.
I don't remember how they described Snape in the book.
This is one of her drawings.
Yeah, me.
He's a white long-haired guy.
Yeah.
You know, like, personally, like I said, it doesn't bother me.
It doesn't bother you.
I don't care.
But I can see how it could bother some people.
Yeah.
You know, like, I used to get really up in arms when, you know, people did casting choices like this.
But then, you know, I remembered it doesn't take away the original product.
If you don't want to watch the new one, just don't watch the new one.
Yeah, you know.
Alright.
Like, well, I mean, he could identify as white, right?
Uh, that's a little bit different.
I mean, unless you want to bleach your skin.
But can't he just identify as white?
I mean, because he could identify as a woman, right?
If he grew up with white parents, you know, in a white background.
Sure.
But so if a man grew up with a woman as a mother, a woman parent, he could identify as a woman?
I think that's good.
Okay.
But couldn't just, couldn't that black guy just say, well, I have some questions.
I'm what, you know, I'd say, why, you know, why do you?
And, you know, if he explains it to me, cool.
All right.
You're not hurting other people?
Watch it.
So you'd want him to explain if he wanted to identify being white, but not if he would explain.
Okay.
But not if he said he was a woman?
I mean, no.
Okay.
Because at that point, what is in his pants?
Not concerned to me.
You think that's the only thing that makes a woman a woman is what's in her pants?
No.
Like I said earlier, that it's a sociology construct, you know?
Society determines what it is or isn't.
I mean, if you look at countries overseas, you know, India has a whole section of genders.
Like, they're gods.
There's over a hundred of them.
Not the gods, but, you know, the genders that they can be.
Yeah.
So, I don't know.
Like, biology-wise, maybe, maybe not.
But, as far as gender itself, it's fairly sociological.
Do you like Harry Potter?
Uh, yeah.
You do like Harry Potter?
Have you heard?
I've read the books, but I've watched the movies.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So you know who Snape is?
Yes.
Yes, okay.
Alan Rickman.
Yeah, have you heard about the new TV series they want to do?
Yeah.
What do you think about the new...
Oh.
That's who they want to cast.
Yeah, I mean, I'm all for it.
I'm all for it, whatever.
You don't think that takes away from her story and her own drawings about what Snape was?
Well, you know, through the magic of Hollywood, anything's possible.
Do you know who Severus Snape is?
Do you know that character?
He was one of the people from Slytherin?
Yeah.
Is that okay?
Yeah, yeah.
Just, you know, the popcorn questions don't really matter.
This is completely unrelated.
This is his character on the right.
Correct.
And they want to replace him in a new series with this guy on the left.
JK Rowling wrote Harry Potter, and she has pictures of what she drew to look like Snape.
These pictures.
People are not happy with this.
Die Hard Harry Potter fans, they are not happy.
Well, that's my question.
Why do you think they're not happy with the new casting.
I wouldn't say that there's any reason why they wouldn't be happy with it other than his face.
But you can always put makeup on.
So we should do like a white face.
No.
We should not do a white face because these pictures are kind of gray.
So I think it would be fine.
Yeah, because graphite is a little gray.
So you know what?
You're on to something.
Let me ask you this.
Do you guys like Harry Potter?
Yeah.
Yeah?
Sure.
Yeah.
You watch the movies?
Yeah, I read the book.
Read the books?
Read the books?
Okay.
Can you describe what Severus Snape looked like to me?
He had very dark hair and very pale skin.
He looked a lot like Alan Rickman.
Yeah.
Aw.
That's true.
Yeah.
That is very true.
Yeah.
Okay, have you guys...
So you can't make fun of him.
Okay, well, anytime.
Are you so polite?
So polite to everybody.
Okay, they're wanting to reboot a TV series.
And this is who they want to cast as Severus Snape.
Oh, I love Alan Reichman.
Oh, well, that's different.
Okay.
I don't know who that is.
His name is Papa.
I forget the last name.
Okay.
Papa.
Okay.
I would love to hear him act and see how that worked out.
It's not really my imagination when I think of...
Yeah, I was going to say those are really big shoes to step into.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
This was the drawing of JK Rowling.
She drew these of who she envisioned Severus Snape being.
Do you think they don't look similar?
Not really.
It's not really fair because he's wearing a nice suit.
So like maybe if he had a black cape on, we could have a different representation of how it would look.
So.
Well, how would you feel if maybe they did like a white face on him?
Like they just painted him white to match the character?
Would that...
That only works in Wicked.
It has to be green.
It has to be green.
Yes.
Yes.
Okay.
All right.
Well, I will take that to JK Rowling and HBO and I will send them your suggestion.
You can also just let them know don't do it.
Don't do it.
Yeah.
Okay.
I'll let them know.
We love Alan Reichman.
Yeah.
Yeah.
People were saying that they should cast.
Sorry, that's someone else.
That was a man in a red dress.
I forget his name.
Oh, you know what?
He looks.
He looks like Severus.
Yes.
Yeah.
Right?
Yes.
Except he's Bratty.
Well, that was only in that one movie.
I know, but I just was like, stop being a brat.
Like, seriously.
I'll tell you what, I'll take him and Harry Potter if they erase the Star Wars movies with him in them.
Okay, yeah.
Can we do that?
Yes.
Well, it's not up to me, but you know.
All right.
Let her know we said that.
Okay, all right.
We'll do.
Thank you.
I appreciate it.
Thank you guys for your time.
That was a lot of fun.
That is true.
That is true.
All right.
Are you going to watch it?
Probably not.
Probably not.
No.
All right.
Probably not.
I'm sorry.
I don't really watch TV.
Yeah, that's probably the best thing.
Yeah, I just, I really don't watch TV.
Yeah, I don't blame it.
All right, great.
All right, so we have a vote for yes.
You'd vote him in?
Yeah, why not?
I'm not going to watch it anyway, so it really doesn't affect me.
I think it'll be all right.
Perfect.
Thank you for your time.
Really appreciate it.
Thank you.
