I did not see that coming.
Someone got in his ear, rightfully so, and said, look, you've got to set the tone, boys, right now.
So he started his second term here.
You know, he was banging on all cylinders, especially immigration.

His first term, right, this would have...

And the polls now show that America, and this is important, we're at a very, very different place.
So I want to give you some key facts, references available.
You can see where we are, what he's doing, and what people thought of the exact same actions in his first term.
Because this just shows you, particularly on the trans stuff, the most recent poll, people just go with what they think is popular, the path of least resistance.
That happens a lot.
And now we're at a point in America where the path of least resistance is law and order.
So, a majority of Americans support deporting all illegals, okay?

New York Times had it at 55% of Americans approved deporting all.

I don't know how you vote against it, if only for the optics, but this specific legislation, let me tell you what, it requires federal officials to detain any illegal alien charged with crimes like shoplifting, assaulting, injuring, and of course, killing people.
This would seem as though it's a given.
I know a lot of people right now, I think this is the reason you're seeing the numbers change, people are saying, wait a second, wait a second.
You mean we have people who we know are illegal aliens, they've committed violent crimes, and we're still keeping them?
The answer is yes, to the tune of millions.

Legislation will empower state attorneys, or state attorneys general.

It'll give them the ability to sue the federal government for harm caused by the failure.

So, in this case, this also should be entirely bipartisan.

He struck that bipartisan tone, and he specifically thanked those who supported this bill.
I want to thank every House Republican, every Senate Republican, as well as the 12 Senate Democrats and the 48 House Democrats who voted to pass this vitally important bill, and many of them are with us today, and I really do appreciate it.
And I very much especially appreciate the bipartisan support.
The Democrats, really a big percentage of them came through, and plenty of them wanted to.
They probably felt they couldn't, but they really wanted to.
That they don't understand that would have made them a lot more popular.
