Time Text
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to Radio Renaissance.
I'm Jared Taylor with American Renaissance, and with me is my indispensable co-host, Paul Kersey.
And as usual, we'll begin with listener comments.
Last episode or two, we've talked about some of the great fiction that Mr. Kersey and I have recommended to readers, and we have a recommendation from a listener.
He nominates the 1939 novel How Green Was My Valley by Thomas Llewellyn.
He says it is a beautiful book about a Welsh coal mining family set in the late Victorian era.
The book promotes timeless themes such as family, first love, dignity found in hard work, sacrifice, love of one's homeland, death, and growing up.
He says it was made into a great movie directed by John Ford.
He recommends both the movie and the novel to our listeners.
I have actually heard others recommend this novel.
How Green Was My Valley.
Both the novel and the movie.
But I cannot claim to have read or watched.
How about you, Mr. Kersey?
No, I love John Ford as a director, so that's probably worth checking out.
Yes, yes.
No people whose opinions I respect have mentioned this book, How Green Was My Valley, so I'll have to take a look at that myself.
Another comment.
Now, this is an interesting correction, and we like corrections.
This is from a Canadian.
He says, as I have observed a growing coverage of the ongoing insanity in Canada by your good selves, I wish to mention that the first Prime Minister of Canada is always referred to as John A. MacDonald and not John MacDonald.
Now, that would seem to be a rather fine point, but our listener makes an excellent observation.
He says, as our American neighbors refer to the now abhorrent figure of Robert E. Lee and never as Robert Lee.
Correct.
That is absolutely right.
Nobody ever talks about Robert Lee.
People talk about General Lee and Robert E. Lee, but not Robert Lee.
So, apparently it rings as strangely upon Canadian ears For us to say John McDonald as it would on our good confederate ears to hear people talking about Robert Lee.
So thank you very much.
And as usual, we crave correction and there are several ways to do it.
One is to go to the Contact Us page at amren.com and tell us any observations you may have about our program, things we missed, things we got wrong, and things we got right.
The other way to get in touch with us is... Because we live here at ProtonMail.com.
Once again, that's all one word.
Because we live here at ProtonMail.com.
And I want to apologize to the few people who, not few, but there are a number of questions that I failed to share with Mr. Taylor to forward over.
So we can hopefully have those on the agenda for next week.
And more importantly, hopefully a number of questions from You, listening audience, because we are coming to the end of Black History Month, but we still have some time to get some of your questions in, some of your comments.
Hopefully not too many corrections, but we appreciate each and every correspondence that we receive.
Yes, we do.
And our special coverage continues of Black History Month, formerly known as February.
New York City was a hotbed of Black History Month celebrations.
Uh, and I'll just start with the saga of Bew Jirajarijaravich.
That's quite a mouthful.
Age 23, an aspiring model from Thailand.
She was waiting for a subway train in midtown on November 22nd.
Surveillance footage of the incident shows a man dragging the aspiring model along the northbound platform before throwing her to the ground, punching her several times, four times apparently, snatching her purse and walking away.
I saw the video of this, really quite brutal.
Well, she has finally been tracked down.
Her assailant, Kevin Douglas, age 40, apparently later on barged into a 34-year-old woman's house, punched her in the face, and leading to his arrest that day, and they finally figured out that he is the guy who attacked this aspiring model.
Now, he is, of course, one of our African-American fellow citizens.
Mr. Douglas has 44 prior arrests.
How old is he?
He is 40 years old.
40 years, okay.
Yes, that's an average of at least one a year.
And I don't suspect they started at age two.
You never know.
No, you never know.
But no, I understand.
We're here that blacks mature early, but not that early.
He has faced charges for drugs, assault, criminal possession of weapons, robbery, criminal tampering, dating back all the way to 1997.
And now this leapt off the page to me.
On May 13, 2019, he was arrested 16 times.
Now, I don't know how one gets himself arrested 16 times in one day.
I wouldn't have thought it was physically and legally possible.
It takes a while to get processed, I would have thought, but that's what the news report said.
I should probably look further into this, but all I'm doing is passing along what the media are explaining to us.
So, that was the story of Bew Jirajiriyawech, age 23.
Now, then there was Michelle Goh.
Yet another Asian-American, she was pushed into the path of an oncoming subway train and was crushed to death by a 61-year-old homeless man named Marshall Simon, once again celebrating Black History Month by pushing her into the path of an oncoming R train.
Now, a listener tells us that people who are described as homeless in New York City, in fact, very rarely are.
They sleep in shelters, they live on handouts, but this 61-year-old African-American fellow citizen of ours pushed Michelle Goh into the oncoming subway train, causing her death.
Then there was Christina Yuna Lee, yet another Asian-American, Coming home Sunday morning about 4.30 a.m.
from a night out clubbing.
As she was getting out of her Uber, she climbed six flights to her apartment and security video captured one Asamad Nash creeping into the building after her.
She didn't notice.
And he kept climbing up the stairs one floor after below her, one after another.
And he rushed her as she unlocked her apartment door and entered the apartment.
All this caught on video.
Neighbors were awakened Sunday morning by poor Christina Lee's blood-curdling screams and immediately called the police who arrived instantly, according to press reports.
Good for New York's finest, but By then, Nash had barricaded himself inside the apartment with the fatally wounded Lee who lay bleeding in the bathtub and police were forced to saw their way into the unit.
Jesus.
Yes.
You know, I lived in New York City for a while.
A lot of those apartments have practically Fort Knox type doors on them.
Oh yeah, yeah.
Yeah, I guess the usual battering ram won't get you in.
They have these huge deadbolt blocks on them.
They found Nash hiding under the bed.
He'd been arrested at least seven times since 2015, most recently on January 6th.
He had been arrested four times last year alone for assault resisting arrest and both attempting to escape and successfully escaping from police officers.
He spends a lot of quality time with New York's finest.
And then, let's see, as we move down the list here, an unidentified man, so we don't know what sort of our fellow citizen he is, but he punched a South Korean diplomat on a Manhattan sidewalk on Wednesday night in New York City, causing the South Korean to suffer a broken nose.
This particular South Korean was stationed at the country's permanent mission to the United Nations.
So diplomatic immunity goes only so far.
Police will not know.
If the assault was a hate crime until they find the assailant and investigate the motives behind the attack, this unidentified man is not identified racially, so my suspicions are that, once again, he is one of the melanin enhanced.
According to NYPD, the number of hate crimes against Asians in New York City
went from 28 in 2020 to 131 last year, and the number continues to creep upwards.
And so the black assaults on Asians continue.
I don't believe a single one of these perps was wearing a MAGA hat.
At the same time, robberies have leapt by almost 35% when compared to the same period in 2021.
Rape also by exactly the same figure of 35% and overall crime in the Big Apple up by 42%.
Two precincts, however.
Here's the good news, Mr. Kersey.
Including the one covering Central Park recorded no change at all.
A statistic that may be misleading due to the area's low crime rate when compared to areas that are actually populated.
As one anonymous cop joked, only the squirrels are safe.
So that means, yes, the crime rate in those precincts was, it held level.
very low. Wasn't there a Paul Newman movie made about New York in the 1970s
like Fort Apache or something about one of the precincts that's in one of the predominantly black
brown areas of New York?
Fort Apache sounds right.
I believe that the police actually referred to it as Fort Apache.
Correct.
Yeah, correct.
Correct.
I wondered if one of our astute listeners out there, I would love to see that.
Very hard to find.
If any of you guys out there have a copy of it and you wanted to do us a great favor, we'd love to actually Watch it.
I'd love to see it.
I've heard great things about it.
It's one of those movies they don't... It's very hard to find.
Is that so?
Very hard to find.
It cannot be streamed on any of the services?
I don't think it can be streamed on Amazon Prime.
For heaven's sake.
So if anybody wants to send it, you know where to go.
The PO Box is there on the Amarin.com website.
Well, I hate to hold out the tin cup, but that would be awfully nice, especially if it is a difficult thing to find.
Meanwhile, New York's brand new African-American mayor, Eric Adams, blamed white reporters and editors for the negative press coverage.
I guess he's been tuning in to Radio Renaissance.
Well, he's been tuning in to what the mayor of Chicago did when she said, you can only have non-whites ask me questions.
Because, yes, you are jumping the gun, Mr. Kersey, because, yes, he said news outlets were reporting the news through a white prism.
And he threatened to stop speaking to the press.
How many blacks are on your editorial boards?
How many blacks determine how these stories are being written, he said.
He also called on media outlets to diversify their newsrooms and have more reporters and editors of color so they would better tell his version of what's going on.
What's his version?
That the crime's not going up?
It's got to be hagiography 24-7.
Shades of Lori Lightfoot, as you say.
Shades of Coleman Young in Detroit.
Well, there you go.
And Black History Month continues in Brooklyn!
Now, this is going to be a great event.
It's going to be held on February 26th.
I urge all New York City area listeners to attend.
There's something called Black Business Expo, and it will be at something called the White House Loft.
And let me quote from its website, each admission ticket comes with a complimentary cocktail so you can sip and shop.
And all you guilty white people, I think you should definitely go and expiate your ancestral crimes by sipping and shopping at Black Business Expo.
And as I continue to read from the website, there will be dope vendors, prizes, music, and much more.
Dope vendors, Mr. Kersey.
Lovely.
And they go and say, we will have DJ Denise keeping it live and the Oyster King Mother Shucker!
Mother Shucker, the Oyster King.
Now that would make my evening.
I wonder if there's a wealth fleet.
I wonder where those oysters are sourced from.
Oyster King, Mother Shucker.
Yes, they're probably African-American oysters.
I wonder if they'll have any legal gun sales as well to go along with the dope.
And there is still time to sign up, boys and girls.
That'll be February 26th.
A great way to celebrate African History Month.
Now, Louisville has been celebrating in a particularly unusual way.
You know, this is a story that has captured the imagination of a lot of people who've seen it because we have a story out of a place where you used to call home, out of Louisville.
That is true.
Where a mayoral candidate, Craig Greenberg, he was shot at in his campaign headquarters this past Monday morning.
Not injured, the bullet struck his clothing.
So, no idea what that actually means.
Did it go through his clothes?
You only get shot once and look and see a hole.
Apparently the guy blazed away several rounds.
Bam, bambity, bam.
Not very good marksman.
Should have spent some more time instead of attacking the NRA there in the state of Kentucky.
The guy's name is Quintez Brown, 21 years old, charged with attempted murder.
He's an MLK scholar at the University of Louisville and is the founder of From Fields to Arena, a group committed to providing political education and violence prevention training Well, you know, as they say, those who can do, those who can't teach.
And so I think this is fun.
And those who really can, they take it to the next level.
This guy cannot prevent violence.
He perpetrates it.
Those are the guys who teach.
He was an intern for the Courier Journal, where he wrote a number of essays excoriating white supremacy and the push by Republicans to have concealed carry overturned, where it was one of the states where you could have Just be able to carry without a license.
And he said, this is going to disproportionately impact blacks, blah, blah, blah.
You know, he was involved in the racial justice protests of 2020.
Of course, I'm referring to the George Floyd insanity.
Of course, I believe Louisville, that was Breonna.
Breonna Taylor.
Breonna Taylor.
No relation.
No relation.
Yeah.
In his Twitter profile, he had this to say, quote, we have one scientific and correct solution.
Pan-Africanism.
The total liberation and unification of Africa under scientific socialism.
Can you unpackage that?
What does that mean?
Scientific Socialism.
The Total Liberation and Unification of Africa.
Well, uh... The latter part sounds like something H.G.
Wells would have written about in some of his stories.
You know, Africa is welcome to it if it wants liberation and unification under scientific socialism.
God bless them.
Just keep it away from us.
Yeah.
Matt Goldberg, he's the Director of Community Relations for the Jewish Federation of Louisville, noted that Greenberg is an active member of the local Jewish community but was cautious about assigning a motive.
Greenberg is a Democrat.
He launched his campaign from there last year, quickly building up a big fundraising lead, which he's still maintained.
He started a firm, Greenberg Group, which is centered on urban revitalization projects.
Sounds like global needs revitalization.
Yeah, well, you know, he said that his number one public...
Number one priority if he's elected mayor would be public safety.
Now Louisville is one of the whitest major cities in the country.
I wouldn't call it a major city, it might be a misnomer, but it is a very big city.
The greater Louisville area, I believe, is about a million people.
Okay.
But that is greater.
So yeah, it's quite an urban conglomeration.
But yeah, it's over 70% white.
The city of Louisville is.
And then it's basically one of those white, black cities where it's still, you know, like 1950s America.
But the West End, which used to be white working class, is now known as Smoketown.
And it has changed racially.
Okay.
But, yes.
Some part of the excitement, of course, was how he was sprung.
I actually don't have that information on my email.
Oh, don't you?
I think you have.
Oh, yes.
Well, Black Lives Matter Louisville posted young Quintez's $100,000 bail.
Yeah, they were using GoFundMe, I believe, to actually... At a time where the Canadian truckers are having their bank accounts frozen for merely honking, You have this situation where a guy who tried to assassinate the mayoral candidate is quickly bailed out.
Do you?
Well, wait a minute.
I'm not sure GoFundMe was involved.
I don't know.
They probably had $100,000 just sitting in the bank after all this money that's been pouring into their coffers.
But I don't know the details.
In any case, the individual who sashayed in and put up $100,000 was wearing a free Angela Davis t-shirt.
Now, Angela Davis has been free for a long time.
Yes, she has.
But I suppose this is a nostalgic Free Angela Davis t-shirt.
I remember, oh, once in my youth, walking by a sign.
It was a piece of graffiti that said, Free Huey Newton.
Underneath, someone had written, Limit.
Three pounds per customer.
In any case, a spokesman for Black Lives Matter said we should do away with jail altogether and fund the necessary preventive measures.
I guess they got $100,000.
They should be funding the preventive measures.
Well, I mean, what does this have to do with scientific socialism and that pan-Africanism?
Well, you can't do that from jail.
You've got to be out.
You've got to be on the outside.
But Greenberg, of course, blasted the criminal justice system.
This is the fellow who was the target of this shooting, saying, it's nearly impossible to believe that someone can attempt murder on Monday and walk out of jail on Wednesday.
It happens all the time, Greenberg, baby.
Well, look what happened in New York, the story you just talked about, a guy getting arrested 16 times in one day.
If that's true, I mean, my head is still spinning.
So, not much word on motive so far, surprising to me, but I suppose this is part of the total liberation and unification of Africa under scientific socialism.
After all, You know that scientific socialism had millions of victims as it built the classless society and paradise on earth, so what's one honky politician after all?
So we'll see.
I assume he'll plead not guilty and who knows.
I actually want to go one step further.
Yes.
What are the odds that the individual who was the almost victim of this assassination attempt I don't think that's going to happen.
I don't think that's going to happen.
This guy, when they actually get shot at, I think that concentrates the mind.
In any case, but let's move on to Kent County, Michigan, where they too are celebrating Black History Month.
It's just been a nationwide hoopla.
A judge has ruled that Kent County's youngest killer, who stabbed a boy to death in 2014, should be released from court supervision.
So he's now an entirely free boy.
Kent County Circuit Judge Paul Dennenfield Badly, badly melanin-deprived, said, I think rehabilitation in this case has really been tremendously successful.
And so, Jamarion Lawhorn, who is now 19, and who was only 12 when he fatally stabbed Connor Verkirk, age 9, to death.
Yes, 12-year-old stabs a white boy, Connor Verkirk, to death in a playground.
Of course, his victim was white.
Kent County Probation Officer Dan Corey, during Tuesday's hearing, said that Jamarion has finished driver's training and he is living at the home of Paula and William Cresswell, race unspecified.
Now, what do you guess that these are good Samaritan white people?
I'm just guessing.
Ninety-five percent.
Ninety-five percent.
I looked them up, but I just could not track them down.
So they're lying low, but they are, they have taken in, they have taken in Jamarian Lawhorn, and I hope they don't regret it in some very unpleasant way.
Now, our final item of coverage of Black History Month has to do with the highways.
The United States is enduring its most severe increase in traffic deaths since the 1940s.
I've read this.
Now, I don't know why traffic deaths increased in the 1940s.
That is subject for perhaps a different episode.
But deaths from vehicle crashes had been falling since... Probably the first time they were ever categorized.
No, no, that's not true.
They've been categorizing them since the 1920s.
Okay.
Yes.
They've been keeping tabs.
They've been falling since the 60s thanks to vehicle improvement.
Now, there's been a huge improvement.
I used to do consulting work for some of these vehicle companies.
Really?
Oh boy, yes.
The incredible amount of engineering that goes into keeping automobiles safe is just astonishing.
Also, lowered speed limits and declines in drunken driving.
In fact, by 2019, the annual death rate per mile of motorists traveled from crashes was about the lowest level since cars became widely used in the 1920s.
Wow.
Yes.
But then came COVID.
Two years of isolation and disruption have damaged life, fueling increases in violent crime, customer abuse of workers, student misbehavior in school, and vehicle crashes.
Boy, that That virus gets around, doesn't it?
It does.
Repeat those that they said.
Two years of isolation and disruption have damaged life, fueling increases in violent crime, customer abuse of workers.
I wonder if workers have been abusing customers.
Yeah, yeah.
Student misbehavior in school and vehicle crashes.
Okay.
Thanks to that virus.
Interesting.
Now, some spokesman says the proportion of drivers testing positive for opioids nearly doubled after mid-March 2020.
That surprises me.
Why that?
Boy, that virus do get around.
Compared to, let's see, and marijuana prevalence increased by about 50%.
Now, traffic fatalities are rather more common among Native Americans and Black Americans.
Fatalities less common among Asian Americans.
Huh.
I wonder why that is.
Isn't that surprising?
You know, the world is racist, you know.
COVID's racist.
Yes, yes, yes.
In Chicago, for example, the black fatality rate has been 5.6 per 100,000 for Hispanics 3.5 and whites 2.5.
So blacks are twice as likely to get themselves killed in crashes than whites and even more likely to get themselves killed as pedestrians.
So, there you go.
But, now let's see.
I believe you had a story.
Now, we have been, our listeners have been urging me and you, Mr. Kersey, to talk about the Freedom Convoy in Canada.
Now, it's not really particularly our beat, but you do have a story about this.
They have unmasked what's really motivating this thing.
They have, they have.
The headline is The Ottawa Trucker Convoy is Rooted in Canada's Settler Colonial History.
Canada's dark history of public health has a long past of hiding behind Politeness, eh?
This is by Taylor Dysart.
She's a white... I don't know her pronouns.
I could be getting it totally wrong.
Who knows?
But she looks like a white female.
She's a PhD candidate in the Department of History and Sociology of Science at the University of Pennsylvania, where her research examines the intertwined worlds of healing science.
And settler colonialism in the Amazon.
In the Amazon?
In the Amazon.
Well, that makes her an expert on Canada.
Somehow she is.
All right.
Well, yes.
She writes this.
The convoy has surprised onlookers in the United States and Canada, both because of the explicitly racist and violent perspectives of some of the organizers.
I don't quite recall much violence taking place.
I've seen images of people honking horns and singing and having these makeshift cities pop up where they're serving people food.
You know, I've been tremendously impressed by the organization behind this.
Apparently, they've got this tent city of staffers.
200 people there at a time with meals and showers and saunas for the truckers.
Boy, sounds great.
Wait a second.
Saunas for the truckers?
Saunas for the truckers.
They have these sauna booths.
I saw photographs of them.
Now I'm really envious of these truckers.
These lucky guys.
Yes, yes.
And free massages.
Free massages.
Yes, saunas, hot tubs, food.
Yep, yep, yep.
Of course, they've all got their little sleeping apartments back in their cabs.
In their trucks, correct.
Yes, so.
Yeah, no, the organization of this thing is absolutely extraordinary.
But no, no, I was interrupting.
The organization of this essay is not extraordinary.
Let me continue.
Because of the action seems to violate norms of Canadian politeness.
Convoy represents the extension of a strain of Canadian history long marked itself behind peacefulness or unity.
That is settler colonialism.
It is not incidental that this latest expression of white supremacy is emerging amid a public health crisis.
The history of Canadian settler colonialism and public health demonstrates how both overt white supremacist claims and seemingly more inert nationalistic claims about unity and freedom You know, this isn't the first I've heard that this is all a bunch of white supremacists.
I think they spotted one swastika flag.
I've seen photographs.
There are Canadian flags everywhere.
Hundreds of them.
Hundreds of them.
Somebody apparently was waving a swastika flag and everybody around him said, take that thing down and get out of here.
Correct.
And same with, I heard that a guy was waving a battle flag and they said, that's not our flag.
Clear out.
But it's still white supremacist.
Because wherever more than one or two white people gather, it's white supremacy.
More importantly, you're right, but wherever somebody rises to stand against this system, whatever system it is, in the Western world, it either is being funded by the dastardly Russians, Russian influence, or, as you said, the most The easiest way to denigrate and immediately destabilize one's position is to equate it with white supremacy.
Thus a bunch of white truckers who have developed, like you said, this amazing ecosystem where saunas and massages exist and this amazing supply chain of food and helpers and volunteers.
Somehow this structure is white supremacy.
It's built upon the foundations of white supremacy.
And settler colonialism.
I think we've actually even talked about how the trucker industry in a prior podcast is attacked for being too white.
This might have been two years ago we discussed this, so I can only imagine how white the Canadian trucker community is.
She then goes on to talk a lot about the origins and settler colonial project.
It's kind of boring there.
I'll skip over that, but I'll get to the part where it gets really interesting.
She talks about the expansion of the welfare state, thus perpetuating the project colonialism, allocating goods and services to certain individuals while maintaining segregation racial hierarchy.
This expanding state also hinged on ideas about individual freedom.
Canadian liberalism characterized citizens as free, encouraging them through social programs to cultivate Autonomy and individualism.
The notion of freedom was historically and remains intertwined with whiteness, as historian Tyler Stovall has argued.
The belief that one's entitlement to freedom is a key component of white supremacy.
Oh, okay.
This explains, Mr. Taylor and dear listener, why the Freedom Convoy members see themselves as entitled to freedom, no matter the public health consequences to those around them.
Because they're white and they're supremacists.
Here we go.
Last part.
Canada's history of freedom then was founded in the unfreedom of indigenous people.
This dynamic has been unnoticed and misconstrued by organizers, attendees, and supporters of the Freedom Convoy On the GoFundMe, the organizers claim, quote, we are a peaceful country that has helped protect nations across the globe from tyrannical governments who oppress their people.
And now it seems it is happening here, unquote.
I'm sorry, still quoting.
We are doing this for our future generations and to regain our lives back, end quote.
She then would write this about that.
About that line.
They are advancing a settler colonial genealogy that deploys the language of freedom and unity while engaging in actions that are harmful and violent.
Oh, boy.
Well, she's got them pegged.
She's got it.
Exactly.
I'm sure they're going to read that and just immediately disband.
You know what?
If I read that and I was in Canada right now where it's freezing, I would immediately go to the sauna because I'm so envious of the fact that they have these pop-up saunas.
I think if that were on a newspaper, I would fuel the fire with it.
It would be good tender.
Ah, well, okay.
Now, the Metropolitan Museum, once a great museum of art in New York City, Like the Art Institute of Chicago, likewise, once a great art museum, has redefined itself as an anti-racist agent of change.
Hasn't every organization or every entity in the Western world done that?
Every entity has.
American Renaissance refuses to go along with that.
Despite a lot of pressure.
Lots of pressure.
We are not an anti-racist agent of change.
But in July 2020, the Metropolitan Museum Director Max Hollein and CEO Daniel Weiss announced that the museum will henceforth aim to overcome the racism still perpetrated by our government, policies, systems, and institutions.
So they spat on their hands, they rolled up their sleeves, and they brought this all to a crashing peak of perfection in their first show called In Praise of Painting, Dutch Masterpieces at the Met.
Now, the commentary of this show notes that, of course, there are blind spots in the story these popular acquisitions tell.
Remember, these are Dutch masterpieces, genre paintings, still lifes.
Colonialism, slavery, and war, major themes in 17th century Dutch history, are scarcely visible here.
Gosh, they somehow just forgot about to paint those things!
Good grief!
And this is a Heather MacDonald article, by the way, in City Journal.
Heather MacDonald, one of our national treasures.
She goes on to talk about Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum.
That's probably the really high holy ground of Dutch masters.
They recently mounted an equally self-flagellating show called Slavery.
Attending to atone for Holland's former holdings in Indonesia and New Guinea.
They said still life paintings pictured the bounty provided by newly established Dutch trade routes and the Republic's economic success while omitting the human cost of colonial warfare and slavery.
The curators did not explain how a still life painter should portray the human cost of colonial warfare and slavery.
And even the curators admit that a still life focuses on things without people.
But somehow they're supposed to work slavery and human exploitation into a bowl of fruit and flowers.
The Dutch masters obviously should have anticipated 21st century concerns about racial justice And revised their subject matter to meet today's requirements.
But back to the map.
There is an exhibit called the African Origin of Civilization.
Now that settles it.
That's it.
Done.
Yep.
Pack it in boys.
Yes.
Now what this did was pair artifacts from ancient Egypt with those from modern, that is to say 13th century AD and forward, sub-Saharan Africa.
As if there was some sort of connection to demonstrate their alleged shared origins.
And to re-center Africa as the source of modern humanity and font of civilization.
This is The Met talking to you.
Boy, to so decolonize your mind, Mr. Kersey, decolonize that whole white mind of yours.
Studied by the Greeks, ancient Egypt remained the paradigm of classical antiquity and the cornerstone of Western representation until the early 20th century, says the man.
The Greeks learned it all.
The Greeks learned it all.
And it goes on to say, Africa played a generative role in shaping foundational institutions worldwide.
Hasn't this already been debunked by that one writer?
A woman, yes.
It was Black Athena.
I can't remember her name.
As if it required debunking.
No, correct.
But Heather McDonald points out that the African show contains no sculptures depicting Africans enslaving each other.
Doesn't depict them exploiting each other, oh no no, but doesn't apologize for that either.
It's only when white people do that.
Now Mr. Kersey, I believe we can leap into a completely different dimension and talk about Lord of the Rings.
Oh my goodness, speaking of trying to put people Speaking of putting blacks where they don't belong, this is going to be a major story to pay attention to because, in fact, the Federalist of all places has a very good article that I just want to quickly bring up about this, where they talk about the travesty to J.R.R.
Tolkien's legacy of trying to diversify things.
The Federalist is right.
The Federalist, yes!
And they pointed out that, you know, Tolkien wanted to create a myth for the British people.
And at the time, the British people were not apologizing for their Britishness.
Well, Tolkien clearly didn't know what the British people need in their myths.
They need BIPOCs!
Correct.
I strongly urge people to look up that story.
It's at The Federalist right now, attacking what's coming.
And just to point out what we're talking about, Amazon, Jeff Bezos, when Chris Tolkien died, Gerald Tolkien's son, they sold Amazon the rights to the appendices.
Not the books!
To the appendices for a quarter of a billion dollars.
I didn't even know there were appendices.
There's massive appendices.
Have they been in public?
So these are sketches of various... Yeah, exactly, exactly.
So what Lord of the Rings basically has... I'm sorry, what Amazon has here is they have carte blanche to create whatever they want to.
It's like a facsimile of what J.R.R.
Tolkien wanted.
It's the appendices that they bought.
They didn't buy the Two Towers.
They didn't buy the Fellowship of the Ring.
They didn't buy the Hobbit.
They didn't buy the Return of the King.
So these are just outlined ideas?
Correct.
So this is from the Hollywood Reporters from February 9th.
The title is Amazon Lord of the Rings TV show reacts to diversity backlash from Tolkien fans, and Vanity Fair's first look at the fantasy series producers tease storylines and characters in a show that's expected to cost more than $1 billion.
Mr. Taylor, I don't know if you knew this, but they are contractually obligated to do five seasons.
On Amazon and Amazon Streaming Service Prime.
Even if it's a complete flop.
Bingo.
Let's hope it's a flop.
I think it's already gonna be.
I think that's what most people are saying.
Who is this appealing to?
Well, black elves.
Cosplaying black elves, huh?
Yeah.
So the Rings of Power, the project's creative team, had some words about online trolls.
We've been outraged that the show will feature a far more diverse cast than Peter Jackson's trilogy of films.
I've actually heard people lament the fact that these brilliant films were so white.
They lament the whiteness.
Oh, the SPLC was outraged.
Well, they were too, but again, a lot of film critics who've written in the past few years have said, just like when you look at some of these pictures in the museums and they're like, well, they didn't, uh, You know, how can we celebrate George Washington when he enslaved people?
There's not a disclaimer when you watch the movie.
Sorry about the lack of a non-white character.
How can we look at a Dutch master painting when it doesn't explain that the riches came from colonialism?
So, exactly.
Here's a great quote from executive producer Lindsay Weber as she told Vanity Fair this, Quote, it felt only natural to us that an adaptation of
Tolkien's work would reflect what the world actually looks like.
Tolkien is for everyone. His stories are about his fictional races doing their best work when they leave the
isolation of their own cultures and come together.
What?
Orcs, orcs battling the riders of Rohan? They should...
They came together in a pretty unpleasant way, as I recall.
Yeah, they did.
They did.
And added Tolkien scholar Marina Rios Maldonado, quote, who are these people that feel so threatened or disgusted by the idea that an elf is black or Latino or Asian?
End quote.
You can almost feel the contempt for somebody noticing, hey, what are you saying?
This isn't... That's right.
This is not Tolkien's vision here, guys.
Spanish-speaking elves, yeah.
So the story follows the second age of Middle-earth history and includes storylines about an elf named Aaron Deere, played by Ismael Cruz-Cordova, the first person of color to play a Tolkien elf on screen.
And a dwarf and princess named Disa, played by Sofia Namvet, the franchise's first female dwarf.
As well as the first black woman to play a Lord of the Ring dwarf.
In addition there are familiar characters such as younger versions of Elven favorites Galadriel and Elrond.
If you recall when they made The Hobbit they decided, New Line Cinema said, wow this story is not that long but let's make three movies out of it so we can make as much money as possible and there were a number of early casting calls that went out that asked for only white actors and so there was a big pushback against that because They didn't have any problems doing that with The Lord of the Rings.
They made those back-to-back-to-back in New Zealand.
No one really knew what was going on at the time.
But with The Hobbit, you had this huge brouhaha that developed and they ended up, if you look... Those movies are not that great to watch.
I don't think they hold up that well.
They're too CGI.
But you do see non-white characters.
In The Hobbit?
In The Hobbit movies.
The three movies.
I see.
Dear me.
Okay.
However, real quick, Those rules that we talked about at the beginning regarding what Amazon actually purchased.
Two types of beloved characters have been restricted from the series, wizards and hobbits, quote, who weren't major players of the second age.
So the production is still going to have hobbits of a sort by including hobbit ancestors called Harfoots.
But they will have a peripheral story in the margins of the bigger quests.
So again, I'm sure there's a cross-section of people out there who are listening to this podcast who are probably some of those online trolls who blasted this.
I'm probably one of them.
But I can tell you guys, The Wheel of Time was a show that Amazon optioned and they tried to diversify it.
It was a huge bomb.
I can tell you right now there are going to be stories written about just like they did with Star Wars episodes 7, 8, and 9 because of online trolls that saw those movies, especially episodes 8 and 9, collapse so much in the diversity.
I think we'll see the same thing with Lord of the Rings.
Let us hope so.
Certainly, if they took poor Gene Best and threw in a bunch of white and Hispanic characters and a few Asians just for spice, that would be a complete flop.
Well, they wouldn't even dare do it, but white people are always dispensable.
And now Portland.
In the fall of this year, Portland Public Schools will open something called the HOLLA, H-O-L-L-A Public Charter School.
It will accept only BIPOC students.
Portland has been labeled the whitest big city in America.
And that can make it difficult for some BIPOC children to see themselves reflected in their communities and their schools.
That's why there's an effort to make a space specifically for such students where they can feel seen and heard and their experiences are reflected in the curriculum.
Now, were you yearning to feel seen and heard when you were in school?
I imagine you were seen and heard plenty.
No, it's not something I was trying to do.
I do want to let our listeners know because we always want to be right.
The book is called Not Out of Africa that we were talking about.
Oh, Not Out of Africa.
Yeah, that debunked Afrocentrism.
Which one was Black Athena?
Was that the one that claimed?
That's the one that claimed, yes.
Okay, then shut my mouth.
I got it completely wrong.
But in any case, the Holop Public Charter School, BIPOC students can feel seen and heard.
I don't know what it's like to feel seen.
In any case, one of the spokesmen says, it's very hard to learn when you don't see yourself in the curriculum.
You don't see yourself in the educational model.
And he says, now this is most intriguing, there will be a very strong hip-hop focus around our kids' learning style.
Excellent.
The curriculum will still be tied to math and literacy, but hip-hop is what our kids understand.
Wow, does that include Hispanics too?
American Indians?
I guess, you know, hip-hop rules.
And let's see, now some of the concepts from hip-hop that are likely to be used are, What does it mean to keep it real?
That apparently is a hip-hop concept.
That's a mathematical?
Is that what you said?
I don't know.
It's a hip-hop concept that will be used to teach.
What does it mean to keep it real?
Beats me.
I'm neither hip nor hop.
So, I just don't know.
And then, what does it mean, the grind?
That's a hip-hop concept, too.
What does it mean, the grind?
So these, once they're hipping and hopping and grinding and keeping it real, then they're going to learn.
They're going to learn like mad.
Because, as Eric Knox, the executive director and founder of the Holla School says, We know black and brown and indigenous kids will learn quickly, equally as well, if they have a space that they see themselves in, their history, their culture, and all of that is honored.
So I didn't realize that indigenous kids wanted to see hip hop, and maybe they can keep it real too, and maybe they know about the grind.
So there you go, that they can look forward to this in the fall, BIPOCs only.
I guess you didn't watch the Super Bowl and see the Super Bowl halftime show with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, as they celebrated black culture in California and the fusion of West Coast hip-hop with normal middle American values.
So they hipped and they hopped and they flipped and they flopped.
Showed what the grind is.
Kept it real.
Kept it real for 14 minutes.
Ah, that must be hard work.
Well then, back to the Brian Flores.
We discussed this briefly, as everyone knows out there, who at least is an American, the National Football League had what's something called a Rooney Rule.
And that means that to hire a coach, or is it just a coach or an assistant coach?
Head coach.
Head coach.
To hire a head coach, you've got to interview at least one BIPOC before you hire that white man.
And, of course, the problem is, since that's a rule, it appears it's just possible that this Brian Flores guy was hired just to fulfill the rule.
They'd already decided they were going to give the job to somebody else.
At least that's what he's claiming.
In any case, he is suing everybody in sight for lack of diversity.
Interestingly, he's using two law firms, one called Elef de Ricasas, Elef de Ricasas & Panic.
All the partners He's using another law firm called Wigdor LLP.
All of their partners are white.
Interesting.
Interesting.
Looks like Flores wants a winning team.
Looks like he is hiring his lawyers on track record and ability.
And as it turned out, apparently 75% of his coaching staff when he was at Miami We're white.
A lot of his hires are white, too.
So, when he really wants to win, he goes on a melody.
Well, I don't think he was actually that proficient at winning when he was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins, which is, I believe, why he's no longer the coach of the Miami Dolphins.
I would guess so.
I would guess so.
But, furthermore, this was news to me.
He was fired by general manager Chris Grief, who is also black.
But anyway, he's suing and he's big news and he's hoping to walk away with millions, I'm sure.
Now, Mr. Curtis, you have a story about the investment bank Morgan Stanley for us.
Yeah, this is going to be a brief one.
Morgan Stanley under fire for minority-only intern program.
I'm sure that's what the NFL would love to do when it came to hiring coaches, having only a minority-only a candidate
pool to choose from. Well that would be an equal playing field. Everybody would be
deprived of all of those unfairly capable white people.
Correct, correct.
As the past Super Bowl pitted, the two youngest coaches ever, by the way, against one another,
both were white.
Both were white. How about the quarterbacks, were both white?
Quarterbacks were both Caucasian.
In fact, the most valuable player was a third round draft pick from
eastern Washington
by the name of Cooper Cop, a white guy who was only recruited by a few schools.
He was one of the first receivers in the history to lead the league in touchdowns, receptions, and yards.
So you're kidding me.
Both head coaches, both quarterbacks, and the MVP were all white?! !
And I'll point out this, you don't see that many white defensive players that much.
Both teams had, I think, three or four white guys on defense each.
The commercials might not have been.
There was actually a Redditor who found out that blacks were overrepresented in commercials.
Though they're 13% they were in 40% of commercials.
Not surprising.
Yeah, but yeah, I was watching the game with some friends and
they were like, wow, look at all those white guys.
So this is an outrage.
Yeah, exactly.
Well, here's an outrage for you.
Yeah, tell that to the people who are making these Tolkien stories.
But yes, yes, tell them.
Tell me more.
Tell me about Morgan.
Yeah, so an advocacy group is pressing financial giant Morgan Stanley to end an internship program open only to gay students and select minorities.
Select minorities?
Yeah.
Project Unfair Representation sent a letter to Morgan Stanley and Princeton University warning that identity-based criteria for the bank's 2022 Freshman Enhancement Program violates federal non-discrimination laws.
Internship is open only to Black, Hispanic, Native American, and or LGBTQ+, freshman undergraduate students, according to Morgan Stanley's website.
So no Asians?
That's what they mean by select minorities?
Exactly.
Princeton has allegedly encouraged students to apply for the program, according to the letter.
Here's what the letter reads.
Morgan Stanley and Princeton are the leading institutions in our culture.
What you do matters not only because it affects the individuals involved, but also because you set an influential example for others.
Pandering to activists with diversity, equity, inclusion initiatives like this internship program is actively harming and racializing our already divided country.
And as you noted, It does.
Based on Morgan Stanley's description, it appears that white and Asian applicants who are heterosexual are categorically ineligible for the program.
Well, there you go, Morgan Stanley.
That that's an old old uh it's the result of a lot of mergers but the antecedents of Morgan Stanley go back many many years and it had a reputation as being one of the few really quite waspy white trading houses in an industry where there were many Jewish run houses but Morgan Stanley Well, they survived the collapse of Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns in 2008.
Yes, they did.
Well, in any case, moving on to Minnesota.
I suppose this could be considered a Black History Month story, but Feeding Our Future is a Minnesota charity.
It was raided by the FBI over allegations of fraud.
The organization's manager of operations, food program coordinator's manager, food program support manager, and administrators all appear to be Somali.
Oh, so they really are African Americans.
In the early months of the pandemic, the Department of Agriculture acted quickly to loosen rules governing how child nutrition programs were supposed to operate.
Loosen the rules.
And in 2019, Feeding Our Future, Which is run by all these Somalis.
Distributed 3.4 million dollars worth of taxpayer food aid to the non-profits that it was sponsoring.
Remember that figure?
3.4 million.
Well, in 2020, that figure shot up to 42 million.
And then, in 2021, to 197 million.
From 3.4 to 109.
that figure shot up to 42 million.
Ooh.
And then in 2021 to 197 million.
From 3.4 to 109, that's really scaling up.
Now, Safaree Restaurant, which boasts traditional Somali cuisine
and where Representative Ilan Omar celebrated her victory party,
applied to participate in the federal child nutrition program.
And at its peak, Safaree claimed to be feeding 6,000 hungry Somali children every day.
6,000 a day.
That's a lot.
That's a lot.
Feeding Our Future had 312 authorized sites for this feeding program, approved for a maximum of 126,000 children a day.
Are there that many hungry Somalis in the entire United States of America?
I guess there were.
Well, in any case, the feds staked out various Feeding Our Future meal sites and found no one there.
No one there?
Yep, they were supposed to be feeding thousands of children, but they were feeding nobody.
Just feeding themselves.
The FBI says the money was stolen and went to various shell companies and fronts operated by Somalis used to buy everything from Porsches to African properties and plane tickets to Mecca for the Hajj.
Have you ever had Somali food, by the way?
I have.
Yep.
What's their primary cuisine?
What's the signature dish of...
Meat.
Meat with some sort of sauces.
I don't remember it very well.
My recollection is it was fed to me on a big banana leaf.
So that was the thing that remained in my mind.
Was this actually in Somalia?
No, no.
I've never been to Somalia.
No, no.
This is a Somali restaurant.
And they fed me and they laid out this big fancy banana leaf and everything was served on a leaf.
I thought that was very ecological.
Yes, you know, you don't have to wash dishes or anything.
In any case, there you go.
Plane tickets to Mecca for the Hajj.
To be a good Muslim, you have to go to the Hajj.
And of course, being a good Muslim, part of being a good Muslim is stealing the infidel blind, apparently, which is what they did.
Making the American taxpayer pay for your trip to Mecca.
That's right.
The scale and scope of the fraud is vast, and the FBI warrant lists many people, the vast majority of them Somali Muslims, and a dizzying variety of non-profits that received the money, and a wide variety of destinations for the cash.
And this is one of the key lines, the fraud was lubricated by false accusations of racism and discrimination.
So when the feds come and they say, hey, where are the 6,000 children you're supposed to be feeding today?
What's your answer?
Racism.
White supremacy.
Racism.
Yeah.
No, on to Baltimore.
A teacher at Patterson High School, one of the largest high schools in Baltimore, came forward with information according to which 77 percent, that's just about four out of five students at the school, were found to have an elementary school reading level.
They're in high school.
Now, this teacher has not been identified because the teacher wishes to remain unidentified.
I guess the teacher wishes to remain employed.
Yeah.
In reading, 628 Patterson High School students took the test.
Of them, 487, or 77%, tested at an elementary school reading level.
That's grades 1 through 6.
Now, this includes 71 high school students who are reading at a kindergarten level.
Oh my goodness.
I think in many cases, that means not reading at all.
Yes, illiterate.
And 88 students read at a first grade level.
Another 45 were reading at second grade level.
And just 12 students at Patterson High School were reading at grade level.
That comes out to about 2%.
When reporters asked the teacher how a student with such a low reading ability could make it to high school, the teacher said, they're just pushed through.
They're not ready for the workforce.
They're not ready for further education.
She said, you see Baltimore city schools have a one fail policy, meaning that students can fail one grade only before ninth grade.
And after that one fail, they just get shoved through boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, no matter how pretty they do.
Now, believe it or not, This school is only 51% black and 39% Asian, meaning it is 9% white and 1% Asian.
Those poor white and Asian kids.
It'd be nice to have a breakout of reading level by race, but if only 1.9% of the people reading at grade level That leaves, if they're all white and Asian, that still means it's 9% white and 1% Asian, so a lot of them are not doing too well.
No.
A very, very sad thing.
At the same time, the Maryland Public Policy Institute released reports showing that Maryland taxpayers are paying millions of dollars for ghost students.
That is to say, students who don't attend schools, but the schools collect.
And in January 2021, 1 in 10 Baltimore Public High School students had a GPA of below 1.0.
I wouldn't have thought that was humanly possible, but when you are melanin enhanced, much is possible.
Well, we're running out of time here, so I'm going to have to polish up with a story about life jackets.
Washington State Representative Cindy Ryu, an Asian Democrat, sponsored a bill that would require people to wear personal flotation devices while on stand-up paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes.
Now, she included an exemption for members of federally recognized Native American tribes.
She says Native Americans won't drown due to their eons of experience dealing with cold water.
So she believes in evolution.
She believes in biological racial differences.
As it turns out, CDC says Native Americans actually have the highest rate of drowning among racial demographics.
I guess they fall into warm water.
They're not used to it.
And they're shocked and they drown.
Drowning death rates for American Indians and Alaska Natives are two times as high as that for white people.
And when it comes to swimming pools, black children aged 10 to 14 years old drowned at the rate of 7.6 times higher rate than white children.
So, uh, no, it appears that they don't do too well when they in the water, into the water, uh, by surprise.
So, uh, I myself, I think if you're going to go on a canoe and you want to go canoeing without a life jacket, that should be your business.
But, uh, she says they deserve an exemption.
She's Asian.
And so perhaps they will not make fun of her.
In any case, uh, the end of our time is approaching Mr. Kersey.
Now, there are so many stories as usual we did not get to, so we'll have to save some for next week.
Export Selection
