The Phony Amnesty Debate

Hello, I'm Jared Taylor with American Renaissance.
How many times have you heard someone say that we have millions of illegal immigrants in our country because our immigration system is broken, as if it just snapped in two like a twig?
I want to scream when I hear people say that.
We have millions of illegals here for just one reason.
We don't enforce Perfectly good laws that make it illegal for anybody who just feels like it to move here.
If someone is worried about fixing something that's broken, they should fix the enforcement process.
But no, they want to reward these lawbreakers with a path to citizenship.
That's the number one priority, certainly in the Senate at any rate.
That's to bring the poor dears out of the shadows.
Well, criminals ought to be in the shadows.
And if they want sunlight, lots of sunlight, they can head south.
I also want to scream whenever I hear that illegals who were brought here as children by their parents should get a free pass.
Those children have accepted stolen property.
Their parents stole the right to live in America and gave it to their children.
If my father stole your antique collection and gave it to me, would you say, sure, keep it.
You didn't do anything wrong.
No, I don't think you would.
So now, the great debate is on in Congress about amnesty.
And most of it's about numbers.
An estimated 12 million people would get amnesty, and they would sponsor another 18 million or so relatives through chain migration.
But I've heard hardly a word about who these people are.
From all anyone ever says in Congress, these 30 million or so new Americans would all be high-IQ, English-speaking, college-educated Europeans.
Well, that is almost the exact opposite of who they are.
First of all, 51%, just over half, Of the current illegals are high school dropouts.
That's right, dropouts.
Just what our economy needs.
Another 26% have no more than a high school education.
What will happen when these illegal immigrant dropouts get their papers?
It will mean that they suddenly qualify for every one of the 79 federal handout programs for poor people.
The average American household headed by a dropout consumes more in government services than it pays in taxes.
But how much more?
$35,000 a year.
That's the difference between what they contribute and what they take.
It's the college-educated taxpayers who foot the bill for that $35,000 a year.
The Heritage Foundation calculates that the average adult illegal who gets amnesty, and that's all of them, not just the dropouts, will, over his lifetime, get from the government $592,000 more than he pays in taxes.
You and your children get to pay for that, too.
And where are these illegals from?
First of all, guess how many came from Europe?
Yes. Well, the answer is 2%.
Just 2% are white people.
About 80% are Spanish speakers from Mexico and Latin America.
Now, if these Spanish speakers, and that's 10 million people, get amnesty, they will sponsor their high school dropout Spanish-speaking relatives through chain migration.
And did you know that there are already more Spanish speakers in the United States than there are in Spain?
And 95% of American Hispanics say it is important for future generations to keep speaking Spanish.
Texas alone has five counties in which more than 90% of the people speak Spanish.
In Star County, Texas, 98% speak Spanish.
And just try getting a job in Miami or parts of Los Angeles if all you speak is English.
The United States now has 835 Spanish-language newspapers and more than 1,300 Spanish-language radio stations, with more every year.
Schools, hospitals, government offices, and especially courthouses.
Have to keep Spanish interpreters around all the time.
And just this June, Virginia Democrat Tim Kaine gave a speech on the Senate floor entirely in Spanish.
Amnesty will push our country that much further towards Press 1 for English and eventually Press 2 for English.
It will mean there will be more and more going on in this country that you A native-born American won't understand.
Belgium and Canada have nearly broken apart because of language.
Language helped break up Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union.
We now have a language problem we could have completely avoided, and amnesty will make it worse.
And do you hear any congressman talking about this?
Many Hispanics don't even consider themselves Americans.
The Pew Hispanic Trust has found that when you ask a Hispanic American what his first or only identity is, 50% name their country of origin.
They say they're Mexican or Guatemalan or Dominican.
24% say their main identity is Hispanic.
Only 21% say they're Americans.
That's right, 21%.
Half the illegals who could get amnesty are Mexicans.
And all Mexicans are taught in school that the United States stole half their country back in 1848.
And all Mexican political parties agree that the U.S. border is illegitimate and that Mexicans have the moral right to cross into the United States anytime.
The Mexican government Even has an organization called the Institute for Mexicans Abroad that openly promotes Mexican loyalty, especially among Mexican-Americans who hold elective office in the United States.
As Juan Hernandez of the Institute once explained, and I quote, I want the third generation, the seventh generation, I want them all to think Mexico first.
is official government policy.
34 million Mexicans already live here.
That's 30% of the population of Mexico.
And that means we better not ever have a serious disagreement with Mexico.
If we did, millions of American citizens would take to the streets to support Mexico.
We'd have to back down immediately.
Amnesty will give millions more Mexicans a permanent hold on a country for which they feel resentment, not loyalty.
Are any congressmen talking about that?
One more thing about all Hispanics, all 52 million of them, if you include the non-Mexicans.
Even after they have been here for three generations or more, They drop out of high school at higher rates than blacks, and the ones who manage to make it to the 12th grade on average can read and do math at the level of the average white 8th grader.
They are four years behind.
Amnesty means speeding up the process of turning our country over to these people.
Finally, let's talk about race.
Only 2% of the illegals who would get amnesty are Europeans.
That means, first of all, that 98% of them are prime candidates for affirmative action, racial preferences.
If you are applying to get into college or trying to get a job, they get the nod.
And when did whites decide to give the country away to non-whites anyway?
In 1960, our country was 90% white.
Whites are now scheduled to become just another minority in 2040, and Hispanics are projected to be the majority in 2060.
That means from 1960 to 2060, in just a hundred years, the country could go from 90% white to majority Hispanic.
Whites would be just 30% of the population.
Is that really the country you want to leave to your grandchildren?
If you say yes, then do me a favor.
Name just one majority non-white neighborhood you'd like to live in, or a majority non-white school you'd like to send your children to.
You can't.
None of us can.
And yet, Amnesty would add millions more non-whites to this country and would mean more neighborhoods you wouldn't want to live in and more terrible schools where your children would be pariahs.
Nobody in Congress would dare talk about that.
And something else.
You may recall we already had one amnesty for illegals in 1986.
Three million people.
80% of them Mexicans got their papers.
At that time, Congress promised us never again, cross their hearts and hope to die.
They promised to control the borders and punish anyone who hired an illegal.
Does that sound familiar?
That's exactly what they're saying now.
But just 31 years later, we're talking about amnesty again, this time for four times as many people.
Does anyone really think this would be the last amnesty?
Broken promises by our joke of a government mean just one thing, that America, it's up for grabs.
If you can sneak in and stay in, this country will eventually be yours.
So let's sum up.
If these illegals get amnesty, they will cost us billions.
It will add to our already huge population that lives off of the rest of us.
These people will change our culture and institutions to the point that we are no longer an outpost of Europe, but part of the Third World.
They are breaking our laws simply by being here, and yet our rulers want to make them citizens.
Our rulers want to give away something that belongs to you, not to them.
They want to give away your culture, your heritage, your country, your children's future.
There's only one word for people like that.
It's traitors.
Amnesty has not yet passed, and there is still time to stop it, but only with your help.
Call, write, and talk to your representatives.
This is one of the most important votes they'll ever cast.
And it's up to you to make sure that they vote the right way.
For your country, for your destiny, and for your people.
