	This is Jim Fetzer, your host on The Raw Deal with a slightly delayed beginning here, no doubt for the kind of technical reasons we so often encounter in live television, live radio.
	Let me say, a friend of mine used to listen to this political commentator all the time, and while I only caught him intermittently, He was probably the most brilliant guy to ever come on radio to talk about politics.
	Of course, I mean Rush Limbaugh.
	He would pick up a newspaper and start talking about it and could make time just pass by with his articulation, his insight, his intelligence.
	I was tremendously impressed on those occasions.
	When I listen to Raj, because I was with my friend going to lunch, whatever, to some event.
	So I look at a paper today in the Wisconsin State Journal and the lead story, the top of the page, GOP blocks ban on practice.
	And I'm wondering, what the hell?
	And I start to read the paper and it says.
	Licensed counselors and others who attempt to change a person's sexual orientation or gender identity through the discredited practice known as conversion therapy can continue to operate in Wisconsin after the Republican-led assembly on Tuesday blocked a rule that would have prohibited it.
	I had to read it twice!

	Now this is an article, it's not coming from the AP because it's a local story and we know 95% of what we get, all the news we hear, comes from the Associated Press and Reuters, both of which are owned by the Rothschild banking empire.
	We know that the overwhelming majority of anchors on television A dual U.S.-Israeli citizen.
	We know virtually every word we get in the newspaper has been filtered through an Israeli or Zionist lens.
	But lookie here.
	GOP blocks ban on practice.
	And notice two key issues.
	Not only is it the Republicans who are allowing this conversion therapy practice to continue, But it's even been described in the article as discredited, the discredited practice known as conversion therapy.
	So I say.
	What in the hell is going on here?
	Then we have much, much less surprisingly, a couple of pages in.
	Biden.
	Do something big.
	at sight of mass killing.
	Yes, of course.
	He lays out plans to rain in firearms.
	This is just so absurd.
	This is so ludicrous.
	This is so grotesque.
	So what do we get?
	And this, of course, is from the Associated Press.
	Monterey Park, California.
	The grief is still suffocating.
	The anger is still visceral.
	President Joe Biden said Tuesday in the suburban Los Angeles community where a gunman stormed a dance hall and killed 13 in January.
	He announced fresh federal measures to curb gun violence, but emotionally declared there must be more.
	Do something, do something big, he implored.
	I am determined to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazine, Biden said, telling the families of some of the victims who are in the audience for his remarks, along with a 26-year-old who wrestled the semi-automatic pistol away from the gunman.
	Notice, he wants to take away Assault weapons and high-capacity magazine, but they weren't even involved here.
	This is a semi-automatic pistol, a handgun.
	And of course, we know the overwhelming majority of gun crimes and deaths are inflicted by handguns.
	It's a minuscule proportion.
	It's like 95% are done with handguns.
	are done with handguns, maybe 3% are done with rifles, you know, 2% shotguns.
	I mean, it's just ridiculous what goes on here.
	We also know that Americans use guns to protect themselves for self-defensive measures millions of times every year.
	Millions of times.
	John Vlott is among the experts in this area.
	Millions of times.
	Saving an estimated 200,000 plus lives of innocent civilians who would probably have been killed had they not had guns to defend themselves.
	So here you got Biden, this is his diaper-wearing imbecile who is pretending to be President of the United States, declaring he wants to take away What he calls assault weapons, which are not even assault weapons, because the AR-15, which is the primary target here, is only semi-automatic.
	That means, of course, each time you pull the trigger, you fire a single shot versus an automatic.
	When you pull the trigger, it continues to fire.
	Until you've expended the full magazine, full rounds, which have been illegal in the United States since, I don't know, 1935?
	I mean, this absurdity!
	And it turns out like the total number of violent gun deaths, and I think this debt is from 2020, including suicides, was on the order of 70%.
	Would you believe more than half of that 70,000 were suicides?
	Were suicides!
	So you're talking about, if Biden were to have his way, if the Democrats were to succeed in taking guns away from the American people in gross violation of the Second Amendment, you'd multiply the number of deaths Because of course you're not going to take guns away from the criminals.
	I mean, this is a swindle.
	This is a bait and switch.
	They talk about taking guns away, but what is the point of taking guns away from law-abiding citizens?
	We're only going to use their guns to uphold the law.
	What you're basically doing is disarming a citizen army of law enforcement, potentially.
	Namely, ordinary Law-abiding Americans.
	I mean, this is how far this guy has his head where the sun doesn't shine.
	It's just disgusting.
	And the Democrats are all in a chorus right there with him.
	Unbelievable!
	They would also have us fall for the claim that there's racial discrimination in law enforcement, because in proportion to the population, we're perhaps 17% of the population of the United States is black.
	The majority of those who are incarcerated for crimes are non-white.
	The majority of those incarcerated for crimes are non-white.
	Why?
	Because it is the blacks who are perpetrating the crimes.
	If you do the crime, you do the time.
	The Democrats would have you believe there's an equal propensity for all Americans, no matter what their socioeconomic, educational, age, ethnic, whatever, background, to commit crimes.
	It's ludicrous!
	Ludicrous!
	Simply insane!
	But that's what the Democrats would have you believe.
	Now they have all these George Soros-funded district attorneys.
	We're putting criminals back on the street.
	As soon as they bring them in, they turn them out, put them back on the street.
	It doesn't seem to matter what the offense.
	They put them back on the street.
	This Biden guy, whoever he is, and I guarantee you 100%, it's not the real Joe from Delaware who appears to have died in 2017.
	And why in the hell is that not being called out?
	The problem with the Biden situation here is that his potential successor, Kamala Harris, is a total airhead.
	She has accomplished nothing in her career.
	I mean, it was a joke that she was put on the ballot.
	And of course, they would not have won, but for the theft Of the election of 2020?
	And that shows up here, too.
	Get this.
	Biden's rhetoric has grown ever stronger about guns.
	He routinely calls for banning assault weapons and pushing a gun control platform even tougher than during the Obama administration when he was vice president.
	He was emboldened after his regular talk of gun control didn't result in massive Democrat losses in the midterm elections.
	And he's expected to continue to argue for strong changes as he moves toward a 2024 re-election run, according to his aides.
	Well, yeah, it didn't make any effect on the 20 22 midterm because they were black, just as a 2020 election where it was a massive shift to the right.
	Hispanics were moving to the right.
	Catholics were moving to the right.
	White suburban women were moving to the right.
	It was basically no Democrat Party base left.
	They had to steal the election.
	By God, they know how to do it.
	If there's one thing Democrats are good at.
	It's stealing elections and propagating idiotic policies.
	Here's another dumb one.
	San Francisco to air black reparations plan.
	Five million per person.
	Get this.
	A controversial draft reparation proposal that includes a $5 million lump sum payment for each eligible black person could make San Francisco the first major U.S.
	city to fund reparations.
	Though it faces steep financial headwinds and blistering criticism from conservatives, as well it should.
	Talk about the lunatics running the asylum.
	Tuesday's meeting of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors will include a presentation by San Francisco's African American Reparations Advisory Committee, which released its draft report in December.
	A $5 million per person payment is among more than 100 recommendations, ranging from offering grants to buy and maintain homes to exempting black businesses from paying taxes.
	Jesus Christ!
	What's all this pro-black discrimination?
	This is blatantly unconstitutional.
	We're supposed to have equal justice under the law regardless of your race, your color, your shape, your size, your age, your sex.
	Supervisors can vote to adopt all, none, or some of the recommendations and can change them.
	Several board members have expressed concern over the potential hit.
	A lump sum payment and other options would have on the city budget already facing a shortfall.
	Well, yeah, nice to think about that.
	You mean giving out $5 billion apiece to every black in San Francisco is going to affect your budget?
	And you didn't think about that?
	A city already facing a shortfall?
	An estimated 50,000 black people live in San Francisco, but it's not clear how many of them would be eligible for financial reparations.
	The recommendations lay out a number of possible criteria, such as living in San Francisco during a certain time period and descending from someone incarcerated For the police war on drugs.
	What does that have to do with slavery?
	Descending from someone incarcerated for the police war on drugs and they're gonna get five million in reparations?
	Critics say that payouts make no sense in a city and state that never enslaved black people.
	Nice point.
	Generally, Reparation opponents say taxpayers, who were never slave owners, should not have to pay money who were never enslaved.
	God, don't tell me!
	I mean, reason and irrationality might play a role here?
	People who never owned slaves should have to pay out reparation to people who never were slaves?
	Not in the Democrat playbook.
	They couldn't even care.
	That payouts like this—reparation makes no sense in a state and a city that never had slaves.
	Reparation advocates—these are the lunatics behind these proposals—say that view ignores a wealth of data and documentation showing how, even after U.S.
	slavery officially ended in 1865, government policies and practices worked To imprison black people at higher rates, deny access to home and business loans, and restrict where they can work and live.
	Well, I'm telling you, there's no doubt.
	You know, when they say at higher rates, what do they mean at higher rates?
	They're talking about the distribution of blacks in society.
	So if blacks only make up 17% of the population, then blacks should only represent 17% of those incarcerated because everyone has an equal propensity for crime, except it ain't true.
	It ain't true.
	It's nonsense.
	To put it technically and precisely, it's bullshit.

	He's disappointed by people who don't understand the legacy of U.S.
	slavery and how structural racism reverberates through institutions today.
	I guarantee you, this guy is part of the problem, not the solution.
	There's still a veiled perspective that, candidly, black folks don't deserve this, he said.
	The number itself, five million.
	is actually low when you consider the harm.
	So Californians, in this case, In the case, I guess, San Francisco taxpayers are going to have to fund a bill for $5 million to every black in San Francisco who never was a slave, being paid out by taxpayers who never owned slaves.
	On the basis of the mythical research of one Eric McDonald, who's the chair of the African-American Reparations Advisory Committee, who thinks it isn't even enough.
	San Francisco could be the first major U.S.
	city to fund reparation for black Americans, as the idea of paying compensation for slavery gains traction across cities and universities.
	San Francisco could even fund reparation before the state of California, which in 2020 became the first state in the US to form a reparation task force.
	The idea has not been taken up at the federal level, nor should it be taken up in any rational state by any rational government of any rational city or town in the United States of America.
	This is ludicrous.
	Black residents, what made up more than 13% of San Francisco's population, but more than 50 years later, they account for less than 6% of the city's residents and 38% of the city's homeless population.
	So 6% of the residents, 38% of the city's homeless.
	This is like 17% of the US population, but over 50% of the crime.
	The Fillmore District once thrived with black-toned nightclubs and shops until government redevelopment in the 1960s forced out residents.
	Well, who was behind that?
	Government redevelopment?
	I'll tell ya, it was the property owners in San Francisco.
	Justin Hansford, professor at Howard University School of Law, says, No municipal reparation plan will have enough money to right the wrongs of slavery.
	But he appreciates any attempt by city officials to genuinely, legitimately, authentically make things right.
	And that includes cash.
	If you're going to try to say you're sorry, you have to speak in the language that people understand it.
	Money is that language.
	Led by Supervisor Shaman Walton.
	Yeah.
	The San Francisco Board of Supervisors created a 15-member reparation committee in late 2020.
	Months after California Governor Gavin Newsom signed off on a statewide task force amid national turmoil after a white Minneapolis police officer killed George Floyd, a black man.
	The hearing was scheduled for February but was postponed to Tuesday.
	The whole George Floyd thing was a total fraud too, and of course led to the Somerville law where Antifa was looting our cities, BLM burning down buildings, committing arson, even murder, and the Department of Justice, the United States federal government, did not a damn thing about it.
	To the best of my knowledge, not a single person had been prosecuted for all those horrific crimes which were encouraged by Democrats from California, including Maxine Walters and Nancy Pelosi, and a host of others.
	The committee is finally reported due in June, and there's no timeline for San Francisco to act on the recommendation at Tuesday's hearing.
	The board could direct staff to conduct further research, write legislation, or schedule more meetings.
	John Dennis Chair of the San Francisco Republican Party said he'd support a serious conversation on the topic but doesn't consider the board's discussion of five million payments to be won.
	This conversation we're having in San Francisco is completely unserious.
	They just threw a number up.
	There's no analysis.
	It seems ridiculous.
	It also seems that this is the one city where it could possibly pass by implication because the lunatics are in charge.
	Donald's frustrated by the question of how San Francisco would produce money to pay for the panel's recommendation.
	We are harmed if a judge ruled in our favor.
	The judge would not turn around to us and say, help figure out how to make this work.
	California's task force continues to deliberate.
	The state panel made the controversial decision in March to limit reparation of descendants of blacks.
	We're in the country in the 19th century.
	Some reparation advocates say the Americas' ongoing harms of black immigrants suffer.
	People weren't slaves, but just came into the United States under San Francisco draft.
	A person must be at least 18 years old and identify a black African in public documents for at least 10 years eligible, but also meet two out of eight other criteria.
	Include being born in or migrating to San Francisco between 1940 and 1966, living in the city for 13 years, being displaced from San Francisco by urban renewal between 1954 and 1973.
	And what does urban renewal have to do with slavery?
	Or the descendant of someone who was being a person incarcerated by the war on drugs or their descendant being a descendant of an enslaved person before 1865.
	This is about as ludicrous as it gets.
	The Chicago suburb of Evanston became the first U.S.
	city to fund reparation, giving money to qualified people for home repair, poverty down payment, and interest or late penalties.
	In December, the Boston City Council approved of a reparation study task force.
	There it is.
	Some of the lunacy taking place in the United States today.
	The country It's just become a mess of sewage, political nonsense, and insanity.

	The 2020 election steal required an emergency on January 6th to culminate the coup.
	An emergency.
	...was required on January 6th to prevent the 2020 election coup from being uncovered.
	When I first read it, but together with Jim Holt's remarks, I jumped out of my chair and said aloud, no way!
	The Conservative Treehouse laid this out in an article a couple of days ago.
	This is a very important read.
	What this shows is that the Democrats in the deep state needed an emergency on January 6 to culminate their 2020 election steal.
	In order to complete the 2020 election coup, Pelosi, Schumer, McConnell, and Pence needed to create an emergency.
	The only way to prevent Congress From delaying the certification of state electoral votes was to create a crisis that could easily be designated an emergency.
	Just moments, literally, three minutes before two representatives issued a vote for motion to suspend the certifications, the House members were informed by Capitol Police and other agents That a protest was about to breach the chambers.
	It was at this time that key people, Pent, Pelosi, Schumer, McConnell, can be seen being walked out and escorted from the chamber.
	That effectively halted the entire chamber process.
	The process was created to eliminate the motion challenges to halt the certification And to begin looking into voting irregularities and fraud.
	The two motions were completely legal and constitutional under at least two constitutionally recognized procedures.
	Procedures that would require the House to pause the certification and then vote to determine whether the motions of suspend could move forward.
	Conservative Treehouse opines that by eliminating the motion from the records of the House, they could certify the fraud with no detractors on record and give SCOTUS a reason to claim that cases before it lacked standing.
	In order to prevent those two motions, a Speaker of the House, the minority leaders and the President of Congress, Vice President Pence, Could not be present in the chamber.
	This allowed Speaker Pelosi to suspend the Congress unilaterally under emergency rules.
	This protest was necessary.
	The crisis was created because there was no other way to suspend the business of certification unilaterally.
	The crisis Invoked emergency procedures and Pelosi was able to prevent the delay of certification herself.
	When Congress returned later that night, Pelosi was in charge.
	The Speaker initiated the new sessions under special emergency rules.
	These rules abandon and make it clear that the only purpose of the new session was to expedite the certification and dismiss all prior regular session procedural rules.
	This is why those two motions at table votes to consider a debate and pause for the certification of state vote electors never happened later that evening when the House business was reconvened.
	It was at this new session That VP Pence, President of Congress, would also have no ability to even consider pausing the electoral certification because there were no motions of disagreement on the matter.
	So in a technical legal claim, he is correct that he had no constitutional authority to address any issues of broader doubts about election irregularities.
	But how did Pence Know this ahead of time so that he could clarify it in his statement that he released while President Trump was still talking.
	This was a coup.
	It was a very organized and carefully planned coup.
	VP Pence, without a doubt, as well as most members of the House, were quite aware of how the certification was going to be managed.
	It would require new rules to prevent the debate clause from occurring.
	New rules that only an emergency crisis could create.
	So they created the emergency.
	The January 6th riots were planned.
	We all know that.
	Now we better understand why.
	So important.
	I'm going to repeat word for word.

	They cheat, they lie, they steal.
	They conducted a coup before our very eyes and they used a fake riot they orchestrated with the assistance of the FBI and agents provocateurs to deceive and mislead the American people.
	There you have it.
	That spells out as clearly as one could spell it out exactly what happened.
	That's the USA Today.
	That's your country.
	That's where you live.
	That's the disgusting leadership of the Democrat but also Republican Party.
	Mitch McConnell and Vice President Pence, damn them both, were complicit along with Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi.
	No surprise there.
	Now I'm going to vomit.
	Meanwhile, Ukrainian official says Kiev doesn't have the resources for counteroffensive.
	Washington Post reports Ukraine is short of skilled troops, munitions, and losses are growing.
	A senior Ukrainian government official told the Washington Post Kiev doesn't have the resources to pull off a big counteroffensive in the coming months, as Ukraine is lacking skilled troops, munitions and other equipment.
	If you have more resources, you more actively attack, the official said, speaking to the Post on the condition of anonymity.
	If you have fewer resources, you'd have had more.
	We're going to defend.
	That's why, if you ask me personally, I don't believe in a big counteroffensive for us.
	I'd like to believe in it, but I'm looking at the resources and asking, with what?
	Maybe we'll have some localized breakthroughs.
	The official said Ukraine doesn't have the people or weapons to pull off a counteroffensive.
	And you know the ratio.
	When you're on the offensive, you lose twice or three times as many people.
	We can't afford to lose that many, the official said.
	The Post also spoke with a Ukrainian battalion commander who went by the name of Kupol and detailed the grim situation on the front line.

	- Weeks before the Silicon Valley bank collapse, several executives sold off large shares of stock, while mainstream media tells its audience to invest in them.
	On March 9th, the day before the collapse, Israel's two largest banks pulled up to $1 billion out of SVB, while Peter Thiel's Founders Fund withdrew millions and advised their clients to do the same.
	The next day, there was a run on the bank, and Silicon Valley Bank collapsed.
	Is this evidence of a controlled demolition, or a hasty one?
	The day before the collapse, a U.S.
	judge ordered JPMorgan Chase to turn over documents in a lawsuit accusing them of aiding in Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking operation.
	The team behind this lawsuit was the same team who successfully exposed the involvement of Deutsche Bank, and they subpoenaed several other banks they believe were involved in sex trafficking, including Silicon Valley Bank, And Bank Lumi, the Israeli bank that drained a billion dollars out of SVB the day before it collapsed.
	Whatever the reason, the U.S.
	government's response threatens to collapse the world economy.
	The FDIC ensures up to $250,000 for each depositor.
	But now they're going to cover all depositor losses.
	And they don't have enough to cover the $175 billion of SVB losses, let alone the trillions of dollars to be lost on the near horizon as banks across the world begin to break.
	The systemic risk among GSIBs, Global Systemically Important Banks, is that they are so deeply connected that when one falls, they will all follow.
	Much of the world's economy is already collapsing due to the actions of the U.S.
	government and the Federal Reserve banking system.
	And much of the world has been preparing for the end of the U.S.
	dollar as a world reserve currency.
	After all the smaller banks die, the people will be left with the central bank, and their solution is the CBDC.
	CBDC stands for Central Bank Digital Currency.
	With CBDC, there are no more options.
	Everyone's account is run directly through the central bank system.
	As the financial system gets more controlling and more invasive, it's a little bit like bringing up a corral around us.
	And CBDC, Central Bank Digital Currencies and Vaccine Passports or Digital IDs are sort of the last shutting of the gate.
	It's hard for many people to imagine the risks here because we're so used to living with financial transaction freedom and we don't understand that when this gate closes on us we literally will be sitting in a system where the central banks believe that our assets belong to them And they can dictate where we can spend money and what we can spend money on.
	If you don't behave, you can have your money turned off.
	There are 12 Federal Reserve Banks which are located in cities being considered for the 15-minute city model of the World Economic Forum.

	On Friday, March 10, Silicon Valley bank collapse that was taken over by federal regulators.
	Silicon Valley was the 16th largest bank in the country and its bankruptcy the second largest in US history, following Washington Mutual in 2008.
	Despite its size, SVB was not a systemically important financial institution as defined in the Dodd-Frank Act, which requires insolvent, Systemically important financial institution to bail in the money of their creditors to recapitalize themselves.
	Technically, the cutoff for SIFIs is $250 billion in assets.
	However, the reason they are called systemically important is not their asset size, but the fact that their failure could bring down the whole financial system.
	That designation comes chiefly from their exposure to derivatives, a global casino that is so highly interconnected that it's a house of cards.
	Pull out one card and the whole house collapses.
	SVB held $27.7 billion in derivatives, no small sum, but only 0.05% of the 55 $387 billion.
	That's $55.387 trillion held by J.P.
	Morgan, the largest U.S.
	derivative bank.
	SVB could be the canary in the coal mine, foreshadowing the fate of other overextended banks.
	But its collapse is not the sort of systemic risk predicted to trigger contagion.
	As reported by CNN.
	Despite initial panic on Wall Street, analysts said SVB's collapse is unlikely to set off the kind of domino effect that gripped the banking industry during the financial crisis.
	The system is as well-capitalized and liquid as it has ever been, Moody's chief economist Mark Zadeh said.
	The banks that are now in trouble are much too small to be a meaningful threat to the broader system.
	No later than Monday morning, all insured deposits will have full access to their insured deposits, according to the FDIC.
	It will pay uninsured depositors an advance dividend within the next week.
	The FDIC, Federal Reserve, and U.S.
	Treasury have now agreed on an interim fix.
	That'll be the subject of another article.
	Meanwhile, here I focus on derivatives.
	As a follow-up to my discussion of the bail-in provisions of the 2010 Dodd-Frank Act, which eliminated taxpayer bailouts when requiring insolvency, I advise to recapitalize themselves with funds of their creditors, who are defined to include depositors, Deposits under $25,000 are protected by FDIC insurance.
	The FDIC fund, however, is sufficient to cover only about 2% of the $9.6 trillion in U.S.
	insured deposits.
	A nationwide crisis triggering bank runs across the country, as happened in the early 1930s, would wipe out the fund.
	Today, Some financial pundits are predicting a crisis of that magnitude in the quadrillion-dollar derivatives market due to rapidly rising interest rates.
	I hear, look at how likely it is what can be done to prevent it.
	In 2002, mega-investor Warren Buffett wrote, derivatives were the financial weapons of mass destruction.
	At the time, their total national value of the underlying assets from which the derivatives were derived was estimated at $56 trillion, as Investopedia reported in May of 2022.
	At the derivative bubble, it reached an estimated $600 trillion, according to the Bank for International Settlement, and that total is often estimated at over a quadrillion.
	No one knows for sure, because most of the trades are done in private.
	As of the first quarter of 2022, according to the Quarterly Report on Bank Trading and Derivatives Activity of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, a total of 1,211 insured U.S.
	national and state commercial banks and saving associations held derivatives.
	But 88.6% of these were concentrated in only four large banks.

	Goldman Sachs, 51 trillion.
	Citibank, 46 trillion.
	And Bank of America, 21.6, followed by Wells Fargo at 12.2.

	Unlike in 2008-9, when the big derivative concerns were mortgage-backed securities and credit default swaps, today the largest and riskiest category is interest rate products.
	The original purpose of derivatives was to help farmers and other producers manage the risks of dramatic changes in the markets for raw materials.
	But in recent times, they have exploded into powerful vehicles.
	For leverage speculation, borrowing to gamble.
	In their basic form, derivatives are just bets.
	A giant casino in which players hedge against a variety of changes in market conditions, interest rates, exchange rate defaults, and more.
	They are sold as insurance against risk, which is passed off to the counterparty to the bet.
	But the risk is still there.
	And if the counterparty can't pay, both parties lose.
	In a systemically important situation, the government winds up footing the bill.
	Surprise, surprise!
	Like at a racetrack, players can bet even though they have no interest in the underlying asset, the horse.
	This is a lot of derivative bets that grow to many times Global GDP, and has added another element of risk.
	If you don't own the barn on which you are betting, the temptation is there to burn down the barn to get the insurance.
	The financial entities taking these bets typically hedge by betting both ways, and they are highly interconnected.
	If counterparties don't get paid, they can't pay their own counterparties.
	And the whole system can go down very quickly.
	A systemic risk called the domino effect.
	That's why in Solvent, SIS Ives had to be bailed out on the global financial crisis of 2007 to 9.
	First, with 700 billion of taxpayer money, and then by the Federal Reserve, by quantitative easing.
	Derivatives were at the heart of the crisis.
	Lehman Brothers was one of the derivative entities with bets across the system.
	So was insurance company AIG, which managed to survive due to a whopping $182 billion bailout from the U.S.
	Treasury.
	But Lehman was considered too weakly collateralized to salvage.
	It went down, and the Great Recession followed.
	Derivatives are largely the creation of the shadow banking system, a group of financial intermediaries who facilitate the creation of credit globally, but whose members are not subjected to regulatory oversight.
	The shadow banking system also includes unregulated activities by regulated institutions.
	It includes the repo market, Which evolved as a sort of pawn shop for large institutional investors with more than $250,000 deposit.
	The repo market is a safe place for these lenders, including pension funds and the U.S.
	Treasury, to park their money and earn a bit of interest.
	But its safety is ensured not by the FDIC, but by sound collateral posted by the borrowers Preferably in the form of federal securities, as explained by Professor Gary Gorton.
	This banking system, the shadow or parallel banking system, repo based on securitization, is a genuine banking system, as large as a traditional regulated banking system.
	It is of critical importance to the economy because it is the funding basis for the traditional banking system.
	Without it, traditional banks will not lend in credit, which is essential for job creation, will not be created.
	While it's true that banks create the money they lend simply by writing loans into the accounts of their borrowers, they still need liquidity To clear withdrawals.
	And for that, they largely rely on the repo market, which has a daily turnover in the U.S.
	of over a trillion.
	British financial commentator Alastair McLeod observes that a derivatives market was built on cheap repo credit.
	But interest rates have shot up and credit is no longer cheap, even for financial institutions.
	According to a December 2022 report by the BIS, $80 trillion in foreign exchange derivatives that are off-balance sheet, documented only in the footnotes of bank reports, are about to reset, roll over at higher interest rates.
	Financial commentator George Gammon discusses the threat this poses in a podcast he calls BIS warns of 2023 Black Swan, a derivatives time bomb.
	Another time bomb in the news is Credit Suisse, a giant Swiss derivatives bank that was hit with an $88 billion run on its deposits by large institutional investors late in 2022.
	Was mailed out by the Swiss National Bank through swap ties with the U.S.
	Federal Bank at a 3.33 interest rate.
	In the new financial deal, understand the Dodd-Frank Act and its unintended consequences.
	Professor David Skeel refutes what he calls the layman myth.
	The widespread belief that layman's collapse resulted from the decision to allow it to fail.
	He blames a 2005 safe harbor amendment to the bankruptcy law, which says that the collateral posted by insolvent borrowers for both repo loans and derivatives has safe harbor status exempting it from recovery by the bankruptcy court.
	Lehman appeared to be in trouble.
	The repo and derivatives traders all rushed to claim the collateral before it ran out, and the court had no power to stop them.
	So why not reveal the amendment?
	In a 2014 article entitled The Roots of Shadow Banking, Professor Errico Parati of the University of Amsterdam explained that the safe harbor exemption is a critical feature of the shadow banking system, one it needs to function.
	Like traditional banks, shadow banks create credit in the form of loans backed by demandable Short-term loans are deposits that can be recalled on demand.
	In the traditional banking system, the promise that the depositor could get his money back on demand is made credible by government-backed deposit insurance and access to central bank funding.
	The shadow banks needed their own variant of demandable debt.
	And they got it through the privilege of super priority in bankruptcy.
	Karate wrote safe harbor status, the privilege of being excluded from mandatory stay, and basically all other restrictions.
	Safe harbor lenders, which at present include repos and derivative margins, can immediately repossess and resell privileged collateral.
	This gives repos and derivatives extraordinary super-priority over all other claims, including tax and wage claims, deposits, real secured credit, and insurance claims.
	The dilemma of our current banking system is that lenders won't advance the short-term liquidity needed to fund repro loans without an ironclad guarantee.
	But the guarantee that makes a lender's money safe Makes the system itself very risky.
	When a debtor appears to be on shaky ground, there will be a predictable stampede by favored creditors to grab the collateral in a rush for the exit that can propel an otherwise viable debtor into bankruptcy.
	And that is what happened to Lehman Brothers.
	Derivatives were granted to save harbor.
	Because allowing them to fail is also considered a systemic risk.
	It could trigger the domino effect, taking the whole system down.
	The error, says Professor Skeel, was passage of the 2005 Safe Harbor Amendment.
	But the problem with repealing it now is that we will get the domino effect in the class of both a quadrillion dollar derivative market and more than Trillion dollars traded daily in the repo market.
	Interest rate derivatives were particularly vulnerable in today's high interest rate environment.
	From March of 2022 to February of 2023, the prime rate, the rate banks charge their best customers, shot up from 3.5 to 7.75 percent, a radical jump.
	to 7.75%, a radical drop.
	Market analyst Stephanie Bomboy calls it interest rate shock.
	It won't really hit the market until variable rate contracts reset, but a trillion in U.S.
	corporate contracts are due to reset this year, another trillion next year, and another trillion the year after that.
	A few bankruptcies are manageable, but an interest rate shock to the massive derivative market to take down the whole economy.
	As Michael Snyder wrote in a 2000 article, 13 article, a chilling warning about interest rate derivatives.
	Will rapidly rising interest rates rip through the U.S.
	financial system like a giant lawnmower blade?
	Yes.
	The U.S.
	economy survived much higher interest rates in the past, but at that time there were not hundreds of trillions of dollars worth of interest rate derivatives hanging over Our financial system like a sword of Damocles.
	Rising interest rates could burst the derivative bubble and cause massive bankruptcies around the globe, quoting Mexican millionaire Hugo Salinas Price.
	Of course, there are a whole lot of people out there who would be quite glad to see that too big to fail banks go bankrupt.
	But the truth is that if they go down, Our entire economy will go down with them.
	Our entire economic system is based on credit.
	And just like we saw back in 2008, if the big banks start falling, credit freezes up and suddenly nobody can get any money for anything.
	There are safer ways to design the banking system, but they are not likely to be in place before the quadrillion dollar derivatives bubble bursts.
	Snyder was also writing 10 years ago, and it hasn't burst yet.
	But this was cheaply because the Fed came through with a Fed put, the presumption that it would backstop the market in any sort of financial crisis.
	It has performed as expected until now.
	But the Fed put has stripped it of its independence.
	and its ability to perform its legislated duties.
	This is a complicated subject, but two excellent books on it are Nick Bahti's Layered Money, 2021, and Lee Menden's The Fed Unbound, Central Banking at a Time of Crisis, 2022.
	Today, the Fed appears to be regaining its independence by intentionally killing the Fed put.
	With its push to raise interest rates, it is still backstopping the offshore dollar market with swap lines, arrangements between the central banks of two countries to keep currency available for member banks.
	But the latest swap line rate per European central bank is a pricey 4.83%.
	4.83%.
	No more.
	Free lunch for the banks.
	Alternatives that have been proposed for unwinding the massive derivatives bubble include repealing the Safe Harbor Amendment and imposing a financial transaction tax, typically a one-tenth of one percent tax on all financial typically a one-tenth of one percent tax on all financial trades.
	But those proposals have been around for years, and Congress has not taken up the call.
	Rather than waiting for Congress to act, Many commentators say we need to form our own parallel alternative monetary systems.

	Okay, in other words, in violent crimes, right, over 90% in almost every category, when the victim and the perpetrator are different races, the victim is white, and the perpetrator, now what can you make of that?
	So somebody's going to come along and go, oh, well, it's human beings, it's human.
