Fasting Coach Journey
00:02:21
|
|
| My doctor believes in fasting for hell. | |
| You believe that. | |
| And you talk about that. | |
| And actually, Tammy talks about it. | |
| And she had, you even talked about intermittent fasting. | |
| Great questions that you asked and answered for us to help us understand. | |
| And answer. | |
| Yeah, and to answer your question, it is it's a 21-day journey. | |
| And as a life coach, I thought, what's the best way to work with people and be your coach? | |
| I want to be your fasting coach. | |
| So there are daily videos, Jim, every day. | |
| I do videos on my website. | |
| I want to coach you just for those 24 hours. | |
| But you said something really good, Jim. | |
| And I want to touch on this because intermittent fasting is so popular right now. | |
| If you're on Instagram or you're on Facebook, you scroll and you see all these intermittent fastings. | |
| So listen to me. | |
| Yes, we're supposed to fast for our health. | |
| I believe that you need to abstain from food for healthy reasons. | |
| So your doctor may say you need to fast, but an intermittent fast for your flesh is not the same as a fast for your faith. | |
| They're two different fasts. | |
| And I also want to say as a coach, I really believe that fasting is a food fast. | |
| A lot of people today are fasting from social media or from Netflix or from shopping. | |
| But do you realize in the Hebrew, the word fast means no food. | |
| In the Greek, it means shut your mouth. | |
| I don't think God could be more clear in telling us that fasting is for food. | |
| Do you know why? | |
| Because he doesn't want us to gratify the desires of our flesh. | |
| There's no other way that you're going to contend with your flesh like we saw Jesus in Matthew 4, except with food. | |
| And every time you want to eat something, you say, no, I'm going to pray. | |
| Every time you want that, flesh is rising up in you. | |
| And here's what I coach people. | |
| Jim, if I can learn to say no through a food fast, I can learn to say no in other areas of my life. | |
| That's true. | |
| Temptations with pornography, temptations with lust or lying or alcohol or jealousy or fear or wherever the enemy is trying to cripple you. | |
| You have to learn to battle your flesh. | |
| And when you win that war, you will win other wars. | |
| Right. | |
| So you believe in miracles? | |
| I believe in miracles. | |
| I don't believe they've ceased. | |
| I don't believe that they were. | |
|
Encounters with the Holy Spirit
00:02:08
|
|
| Now, you said you were a Baptist. | |
| Well, I was. | |
| You sound like a charismatic. | |
| A grace bestowed on all of us. | |
| I am a, you know, my husband says I'm a recovering Baptist. | |
| How about that? | |
| Now, I don't want to diss on the Baptist. | |
| No, no, because you know why. | |
| When you met your husband, what was he? | |
| Well, he was Baptist because he gotten saved in a Baptist church, but just during the Jesus movement. | |
| So they, all the churches were filled with the Spirit back then. | |
| Yeah. | |
| But you know, Jim, what the Baptists did for me, and I don't even like to talk about denominations. | |
| No, I know, I don't. | |
| But they taught me the word of God. | |
| Yes. | |
| I mean, I grew up with the word of God. | |
| I went on my first mission trip at 13. | |
| I was called to the ministry at 15. | |
| I have straight faithful in my walk and praise God for the teaching. | |
| Now, what happened was I began to have encounters with the Holy Spirit. | |
| And he met me. | |
| I had encounters, Tammy, when I was in South Africa on a mountain and Holy Spirit filled me. | |
| And I'm teaching right now on the gifts of the Holy Spirit. | |
| So you don't ever stop growing. | |
| Don't ever, don't, don't label yourself any denomination. | |
| You know, and I love what SM Lockridge said. | |
| He said, I don't trust the right wing or the left wing because they're both flopping off the same bird. | |
| And so, you know, let's don't have that division. | |
| Don't go in that arrow that the enemy wants to bring of division. | |
| Don't talk about churches. | |
| Do you know, Jim, during the pandemic, I literally, every single time I passed a church, I raised my hand and I blessed that church through those two years. | |
| It's incumbent upon me to bless God's church. | |
| That's his bride. | |
| Who am I to talk about a church that's shut down? | |
| I'm not going to play the games of the enemy. | |
| I just don't have time for that. | |
| I want to be his bride. | |
| I want to be ready. | |
| Let's work together. | |
| Let's stand together. | |
| If you don't like what a church is doing, then find another church. | |
| But don't curse them. | |
| That's your heart. | |
| Don't talk about it. | |
| Let's try that. | |
| We can agree on Jesus. | |
| Let's stop the fighting in the church and between churches. | |
| You know, we're in churches. | |
| I mean, you know, the devil is a divider. | |
| Yes. | |
