Passover and Communion Unite
00:03:51
|
|
| Is Passover and communion together somehow? | |
| Absolutely. | |
| And I think this is where we miss the richness of communion when we don't understand its connection to Passover. | |
| It's become this separate, and this is the mindset of many Jews and Christians alike, that the Last Supper is some Christian institution. | |
| It's not. | |
| It's a seder meal that's being brought to full fullness of revelation. | |
| That's right. | |
| When Jesus says, this thing you've done for 1,500 years to celebrate our exodus out of Egypt is now coming to its ultimate fulfillment in me as the Passover Lamb, because I'm dying for your sins. | |
| The Passover Lamb died to provide covering in the Exodus, but now I'm dying for your sins as the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. | |
| And I'm allowing my body to be broken for you. | |
| That's a Jewish message. | |
| That's not a Christian message. | |
| That's for the Jewish people, and then they were to be a light to the world. | |
| It began with the Jewish people. | |
| All of the first followers of Jesus were Jews who understood this, and they were the ones that took the gospel around the world. | |
| And as it opened to the Gentiles, we missed the Gentiles miss this. | |
| Get back to your roots. | |
| Get back to your roots. | |
| When Yeshua said that the matzah and the wine were his body and his blood, did the disciples understand what he was saying? | |
| And is this where the blood covenant with the whole world is established? | |
| Yeah, well, it's where the covenant is stated. | |
| I'm not sure that the disciples really understood at that moment what he was saying. | |
| They did later, but they were completely shocked when he went to the cross. | |
| It was unexpected. | |
| Peter asked a very funny question. | |
| Actually, all the disciples, will you now establish your kingdom? | |
| They wanted their mansion on the Sea of Galilee. | |
| They were the golden age is here. | |
| So they were shocked and stunned and confused when he ended up dying. | |
| And it took the resurrected Christ to convince them, right, the resurrected Messiah to help them then understand what he had declared to them at that Last Supper. | |
| So I don't think they understood it then, but of course it was fulfilled when he became the Lamb at Calvary and shed his blood. | |
| His body was broken for us. | |
| And then, of course, he didn't remain there. | |
| Blessed are you, O Lord, King of the universe, who brings forth bread from the earth. | |
| He was brought back from the earth, and that brought a completion. | |
| And then with his ascension, he fulfilled this new covenant, which is prophesied in the old, that there will be a new covenant that would be made where their sins would be forgiven and remembered no more. | |
| That happened at Calvary. | |
| Yes, amen. | |
| That happened on the cross. | |
| Most people don't realize that Moses is a foreshadow of Yeshua, Jesus. | |
| Can you explain why? | |
| Yeah, in detail. | |
| That's another great question or statement. | |
| Moses declared, there will be one who will come after me who will be a greater prophet. | |
| And you see this intentional parallel between Moses and Yeshua in Scripture as the deliverer. | |
|
Moses and Jesus: Types of Redemption
00:00:46
|
|
| Moses is the great deliverer. | |
| He's the prophet. | |
| He redeems the children of Israel out of Egypt. | |
| And Yeshua in the same way. | |
| Moses, remember, was in the desert being prepared. | |
| Yeshua's being prepared. | |
| They wander for 40 years. | |
| They're led to Sinai. | |
| There's a parallel between Sinai and the giving of the law and Jesus on the Mount of Beatitudes explaining the law. | |
| It's all connected because Moses is a type of Yeshua, just as Abraham is a type of Yeshua, Isaac is a type of Yeshua, Jacob is a type of Yeshua. | |
| They're all foreshadows of the Messiah who would come and be the ultimate Redeemer and prophet of Israel. | |
