Jesus Proves Himself
00:02:21
|
|
| This morning we were at breakfast. | |
| Don and I were sitting at breakfast and we're talking about, you know, the things of God. | |
| And I was sitting there and I said to him, I said, Don, you know, I've been really meditating on the fact that, you know, Jesus was sent into the desert for 40 days to hunger. | |
| And I thought, why was the Spirit of God using that before he went into his ministry? | |
| And we were sitting and talking about this, and I said, I really believe it was to prove to Jesus himself. | |
| It wasn't for anyone else. | |
| It was for him to know that he had rule over his flesh. | |
| Yes, this is so good. | |
| This is good. | |
| Folks, that is something that the church has got to know and learn is that God has given unto you the power, the same power that rose Christ from the dead dwells in you. | |
| That's right. | |
| That same power. | |
| That same power dwells in you. | |
| So you have the ability. | |
| If you're born again and spirit-filled, you have the ability within you to rule over your flesh. | |
| Yes, that's right. | |
| You do not have to give in to your flesh. | |
| Right. | |
| And you really can with God with his flesh. | |
| You absolutely have to take control over this flesh thing. | |
| It's a real thing. | |
| You know, one of the key scriptures that kind of adds to that, and what she was talking about, she was in Matthew chapter 4 when the Spirit of God led Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted to the devil. | |
| And then, of course, you know that Satan came to Jesus and said, if you be the Son of God, command these stones to be made bread. | |
| Well, I'm sure bread was Jesus' favorite food. | |
| But how did Jesus respond? | |
| Did he eat the bread? | |
| He'd been fasting 40 days, 40 nights. | |
| No, he spoke the word. | |
| He says, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. | |
| And then Satan, again, went another direction. | |
| But this is what will help to emphasize this point is James chapter 4, verse 7. | |

Weapons of Our Warfare
00:00:23
|
|
| Submit yourself to God, resist the devil, and he will flee. | |
| Now, how do you resist the devil? | |
| You speak the word of God. | |
| But you've got to know the word. | |
| You've got to have the word in your heart so you can speak it out. | |
| That's our ammunition. | |
| For the weapons of our warfare, not carnal, but mighty through God, the pulling down of strongholds. | |
| And then we've got to speak the word. | |
