David's Strength Returning
00:07:21
|
|
| Bishop, what is the word that God gave you for Pastor Jim in this ministry for this hour? | |
| I tell you, you're just right on point. | |
| You know, in the book of Daniel, Daniel prophesies that in the last days that Satan shall wear out the saints of the Most High God. | |
| One translation says, worn them out with words, war words, and attacks. | |
| I mean, constant attacks against the people of God. | |
| And we're seeing that right now. | |
| And just the other day, I knew when we had the invitation to come, the Lord began to deal with me in regards to Pastor Jim. | |
| I just preached this, I think, on last Sunday. | |
| And it's 2 Samuel chapter 10. | |
| And all this is going to tie in together. | |
| It's an interesting text as it relates to David sends his mighty men, the Bible says, to one of the young king's sons, Hanan. | |
| And his father had just died. | |
| And so David says, I want you to go and I want you to comfort this young king because Nahash and David were friends. | |
| And the Bible says that now when David's men show up, that the young princes got into the ear of this new young leader and says, Do you think David's coming to really comfort us and to encourage us? | |
| He's really coming to spout the city and he's going to kill all of y'all. | |
| He's going to destroy you. | |
| And the Bible says that when David's men began to enter the city, that those men attacked David's men and shaved off half of their beard and ripped out the back part of their pants. | |
| That's what the scripture says. | |
| And then sent them away, shame and humiliated and embarrassed and insulted. | |
| David hears about what has happened. | |
| Well, first of all, there's three, I mean, three points in this text. | |
| Have you ever got hurt trying to help other people? | |
| Isn't that something? | |
| Sometimes you give your very best only to get bit, you know, at the end. | |
| And so a lot of people get discouraged and they build a wall without a door. | |
| Come on, somebody. | |
| And so many Christians now have built walls and they won't allow anyone in and they dare not come out. | |
| Ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, this is one of the most powerful texts in the Old Testament. | |
| So now David hears about what happened to these men. | |
| And here you got to keep on keep this in mind. | |
| Number two, they were on the assignment of the king. | |
| They were doing what King David told them to do. | |
| Well, oftentimes when we do what King Jesus tells us to do, it doesn't mean that we won't get hurt. | |
| It doesn't mean that we won't get insulted or embarrassed or humiliated. | |
| David finds these men on their way back and says, Hey, don't come into the city right now, but stay in Jerusalem until your beard grows back. | |
| Whoa, God, I feel like preaching. | |
| Come on, somebody. | |
| Because here's what you've got to understand. | |
| In the Old Testament, shaving off half your beard was a sign of humiliation. | |
| It was a sign of dishonor. | |
| It was a sign of being insulted and embarrassed. | |
| David says, I'm not going to let you come back into the city and let the people mock you. | |
| But we're going to, I want you to stay at Jericho until your beard grows back. | |
| Well, here's the point that I want to make. | |
| Now, we know that Pastor Jim, number one, he's a frontline soldier. | |
| And frontline soldiers take all the hits. | |
| Hello, somebody. | |
| And he's been a frontline soldier for many, many years. | |
| And Lady Lori, you can recall way back at Studio City, God gave me a word for Pastor that you're not an echo, but you're a voice to the world. | |
| And let me tell you, he's one of the leading prophets in the world today. | |
| And wouldn't it be just like the devil to try to shut up and shut the mouth of one of the leading prophets? | |
| But I got a message. | |
| Devil, you will not muzzle the mouth of this ministry. | |
| Hello, somebody. | |
| Praise God. | |
| Oh, no. | |
| Amen. | |
| And so here's what happens. | |
| These men are at Jericho. | |
| I preach Sunday. | |
| Lay low at Jericho until your beard grows back. | |
| So that means I want you to stay there until your strength comes back. | |
| Stay there until, amen, you return back to your honor. | |
| Well, I know there's been an attack against Pastor Jim. | |
| It's been in the media. | |
| But let me tell you something. | |
| The people of God are standing with him because he's a man of God. | |
| He's our brother. | |
| Come on now. | |
| And, you know, a friend love it at all times. | |
| You know, I don't need you when I'm on top of the mountain. | |
| I really need you when the mountain's on top of me. | |
| Hello, somebody. | |
| And we are standing with him. | |
| And so look what happens. | |
| Those men, beard begins to grow back. | |
| Their strength is coming. | |
| Their honor is coming. | |
| And when they return to the city, it was if nothing had never happened to them. | |
| Well, here's the revelation of this text. | |
| This is so powerful. | |
| Jericho means sweet place or sweet or sweet fragrance. | |
| You know, it's our attitude in adversity. | |
| And yes, Pastor had suffered a stroke. | |
| And yes, he's felt somewhat humiliated and somewhat embarrassed because here he is trying to do the king's assignment, trying to be obedient to God, and now he's still attacked by the enemy. | |
| Well, I got a word for you. | |
| Pastor Jim, your beard's growing back. | |
| Amen. | |
| And you're coming back stronger than you've ever been. | |
| Yes. | |
| And when you show up, you won't show up with a half a beard, but you're going to show up with a full beard. | |
| Hello, somebody. | |
| And so, but you said, now that's Old Testament. | |
| That's a good story. | |
| Well, let's just cross over to New Testament. | |
| What about Jesus gives the story in Luke about the man that was on the Jericho road, that was beaten, stripped of his raiment, uh-oh, and left half dead. | |
| Half beard in the Old Testament, half dead in the New Testament. | |
| The first mistake that the devil made is that he should have finished him off while he had him. | |
| So here's the word of the Lord. | |
| Amen. | |
| Stay in Jericho. | |
| Lay low in Jericho. | |
| And I know many of you partners want to see Pastor Jim, but hey, he's coming back. | |
| Amen. | |
| It's not a matter of if he's going to come back. | |
| The devil is a liar. | |
| We're making an announcement in the name of Jesus that he's coming back stronger than he's ever been. | |
| Amen. | |
| I feel a Caleb spirit coming in here. | |
| Amen. | |
| Caleb says, amen. | |
| I'm in my 80s. | |
| I'm 85 and I'm well able. | |
| Amen. | |
| And the same God that sent me out then is able to sustain me now. | |
| And Pastor Jim, lay low at Jericho because your strength is coming back. | |
