A Historian's Perspective
00:08:26
|
|
| Lori and I are here at Heritage USA, now known as Heritage International. | |
| Yes. | |
| Worldwide Heritage. | |
| It's amazing. | |
| And Rick Joyner had his roundtable. | |
| It was epic. | |
| I'm still reeling from it. | |
| We just stepped out of the room. | |
| It's amazing. | |
| We should have taken some pictures in that room because that was an amazing room. | |
| Incredible. | |
| And we asked the editor of Charisma magazine, the founder, Steve Strang. | |
| Good to have you here, Steve. | |
| Well, thank you. | |
| It's good to be here. | |
| Thank you very much. | |
| And you've been here a lot over the years. | |
| You're sort of a historian of this place. | |
| I've been 1991. | |
| And I haven't come every year, but it's been very good to be with these other leaders. | |
| And, you know, the Bible talks about iron sharpening iron, and that's what's happened. | |
| And I was just reflecting on all the things over the years. | |
| We discussed Y2K at one point. | |
| Oh, my. | |
| When you got out of prison, I think one of the first times you came back here was to his meeting. | |
| I remember that everybody loved on you. | |
| It was so interesting to hear your heart. | |
| We've dealt with things like environmentalism one year. | |
| But it's certain scandals that have come up. | |
| It's a little different today. | |
| Yes, it was different this year. | |
| In fact, we ended on a pretty serious note. | |
| Yes, very serious, talking about what's happening in our country and things that people don't necessarily know. | |
| And, you know, I've written a couple of books on Trump and working on a third one, not quite ready yet to announce the title. | |
| And as they were talking, I said, I have to interview these men to get some of this because where do you get it? | |
| I mean, maybe a blog here and there, but hopefully we can bring attention. | |
| And really the purpose of me writing these books is not to make money or do whatever authors often do, but it's to try to change the discussion because the Christian conservative point of view is not very often discussed in the wider culture and certainly not the scriptural things. | |
| You know, we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers. | |
| There's a spiritual warfare going on that explains some of these horrific things that almost defy description. | |
| That's right. | |
| What do you think is the future of America right now after this meeting? | |
| But, you know, man, there's a lot of information that our people need to hear it. | |
| Well, I'm hopeful. | |
| You know, why is it they say we've read the end of the book and we win? | |
| God is in control. | |
| America's had some very, very dire places. | |
| You know, even in the last decade, there have been several times that it was easy to get very discouraged. | |
| And then God raised up somebody that none of us expected. | |
| Somebody we didn't even like. | |
| And he has been an interrupter. | |
| And I think that some of the trends have been interrupted, but one person, a politician, even the president, cannot do it himself. | |
| The body of Christ has really got to rise up from the grassroots. | |
| And, you know, that's a lot of what we talked about in there. | |
| We did. | |
| And there was a lot of good information. | |
| I think it's important for leaders to be able to have a peer group to go and share and be challenged by people who don't work for them, you know, or donors or whatever. | |
| So I think that you and Lori both, in fact, when Lori shared, she got applause. | |
| Everybody liked it so well, and you really added a lot too. | |
| Thank you. | |
| What's your next book going to be? | |
| It's going to be on the election, the 220 election. | |
| And it's going to come out about nine months ahead of time. | |
| And I'll be calling you to see if you'll have me on the show. | |
| You're invited right now. | |
| We'll book it. | |
| That's right. | |
| Thank you. | |
| And I'm not sure that I want to really write a third book on the president, you know, personally. | |
| But because of the times and because of the interest and because we have to get certain words out, not that it's going to be a campaign book or anything like that. | |
| It'll be very objective. | |
| But I'm going to try to deal with the spiritual war that's going on. | |
| Yes. | |
| And how does that relate to politics? | |
| How does it relate to our daily lives? | |
| The details in this meeting were so strong about what's coming. | |
| When you talk about a war, even Rick Joyner prophesied at the first day of this meeting that there's going to be a civil war, basically, in America at some point, that it's going to get to that point, he believes. | |
| Well, it may not be that it's a shooty war. | |
| You know, things are different. | |
| There was a day when people would have a duel. | |
| Now they don't pull out a gun and shoot you. | |
| What they do is they assassinate your character in a prison. | |
| I mean, do you know anyone who's had that experience firsthand? | |
| And if you say something, they take, I mean, you can make one tweet and your political career can be over or your professional career can be over if it's not politically correct or whatever. | |
| I think that's really the war. | |
| And the thing is that the other people, the other side, let's say, they're meaner than we are. | |
| They're tougher than we are. | |
| You know, Christian people, conservative people, traditional people, they tend to be nice people. | |
| And often we will back off when confronted. | |
| But in a war, you can't do that. | |
| Laurie, what'd you think of this meeting so far? | |
| Oh, man. | |
| It's overwhelming. | |
| It's overwhelming. | |
| We're just literally ran downstairs here to Main Street Heritage International, and we were upstairs in the roundtable. | |
| And to be around such mighty men of valor, mighty men of honor, and a few of us women were there as well. | |
| It was just, I'm processing it. | |
| I'm thinking. | |
| I've written so many notes, and I can't wait to see you. | |
| One of the things was so much to share with you. | |
| One of the highlights it was discussed, one of the real important parts was God the Father and how we need fathers, godly fathers on earth to fulfill the kingdom of God. | |
| Yes. | |
| The spiritual fathers. | |
| And I was able to address that and share how God showed me what a man of God looked like and what a father looked like. | |
| So, and I'll be sharing that with you as we do Jim Baker's show and my show, Life with Laurie. | |
| You have a question for Steve today? | |
| I have a million questions for Steve Spring. | |
| He's a historian. | |
| He, I mean, when I think about this. | |
| You know this place. | |
| Now, you put me on the cover when I was the president of PTL, which was here at this spot right here. | |
| I first visited PTL before this was built. | |
| Oh, my. | |
| I remember hearing people like Neil Eskalin talk about how you were going to buy all this land, you're going to create a lake and create this thing. | |
| I remember thinking, how could that be? | |
| I mean, this had to be maybe in the late 70s. | |
| Four square miles. | |
| Four square miles. | |
| That's bigger than most cities. | |
| Yeah. | |
| A whole hour with Steve. | |
| But you know what, Jim? | |
| It really is amazing to sit there. | |
| And Janet Porter was sitting across the table from me. | |
| And last night, she said, Jim, look at this. | |
| You have the faith. | |
| I mean, Jim, we're sitting in this place called Heritage International that you called Heritage USA. | |
| And I said, and she's like, and look at what you're doing it again. | |
| And I think it was Bobby Connor who looked over at you last night and said that you're going to get sevenfold back. | |
| Something, wow, he says something incredible. | |
| I would like to thank the people that built this. | |
| Yes. | |
| Including me. | |
| And put their money. | |
| And a lot of people think, well, they lost their money in this. | |
| No, it's functioning. | |
| This building right here, the cost of this building, you know what it cost? | |
| $160 million, this building. | |
| Wow. | |
| Paid cash for it, and the people supported me and supported the ministry. | |
| And these people, now, with their investment, Rick Joyners, Morningstar Ministry, going all over the world. | |
| But this place is sometimes you can't even get a room here. | |
| People are coming from all over the world. | |
| So what you do for God really lasts. | |
| It's eternal. | |
| That's right. | |
| In a way that you might not have imagined. | |
|
Never Guess
00:00:32
|
|
| But all things work together for good. | |
| And there it is, my life scripture. | |
| Well, I know you have to catch a plane today, so we're going to go back to the studio right now. | |
| And we look forward to having you. | |
| Appreciate you. | |
| We get first interview. | |
| Okay, I want to interview you for the book, though, but we'll have to do it later by phone. | |
| Maybe we'll announce a book that's a really different book that I'm working with. | |
| I hope so. | |
| With your company on right now. | |
| We'll keep everyone guessing. | |
| Yeah, because they'll never guess. | |
| Never guess. | |
