Spiritual Delta Force
00:07:44
|
|
| Welcome back to Heritage USA. | |
| We are here interviewing guests from the roundtable and General Jerry Boydkin is here with us today. | |
| General is in the house. | |
| One of our dear friends. | |
| Thank you for being with us. | |
| Appreciate it so much. | |
| Thank you. | |
| I'm glad to be with you. | |
| This is a real privilege. | |
| And what did you think of the roundtable this year? | |
| You know, I think this is probably the fourth one I've been to. | |
| And I personally got more out of this one than any of the previous ones. | |
| And I think I came out of this with a determination to develop a more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. | |
| And I've been a Christian a long time, but the whole theme of intimacy with Christ and being totally sold out, and that's my objective now between now and the next roundtable next year, is to develop a closer intimacy with Christ and to know that I am hearing his voice as I set about doing what I think I'm supposed to be doing. | |
| Amen. | |
| Some of the things that you shared with us in the roundtable was Army talking about the spiritual Delta Force, which was so powerful. | |
| Can you explain that a minute? | |
| What we came to a conclusion? | |
| I can. | |
| I reflected back on 1978 as a young captain when we created the Delta Force and the old colonel that was the founder of the Delta Force was a guy named Charlie Beckwith and he was legendary. | |
| But he, after we did, after we all got through the upfront assessment and selection, which started with 118 people and finished with 19, we were very proud of ourselves. | |
| We were excited. | |
| We were looking forward to the future. | |
| And then he came in and addressed us all and he said, men, I want to promise you two things. | |
| A medal, which we were all enthused about, and a body bang. | |
| Wow. | |
| And of course, our first thought was, is this guy for real? | |
| Is he serious? | |
| Well, the fact was, he was serious. | |
| It was a message of commitment. | |
| You've got to be totally committed. | |
| You've got to know what your transcendent cause is. | |
| And you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. | |
| We don't want you to do that. | |
| We don't want that to happen. | |
| But you've got to be prepared if you're going to be part of this unit. | |
| We've got to find those Delta Force warriors in the church today, in the Christian communities. | |
| We've got to find those people that in perilous times, as we're living in right now, are willing to go the distance. | |
| And ultimately, their medal is heaven. | |
| They're all going to get it if they've redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ. | |
| But are they willing to stay in the fight, knowing that they may get the body back too? | |
| Which is not just martyrdom, but it can also be ridicule, condemnation, just threats against them and that type of thing, which we all know about, right? | |
| And by the way, I just want to say, I think Laurie stole everybody's heart today. | |
| That was the most moving few moments of the whole thing. | |
| She talked about her spiritual father and coming out of darkness into the light of Christ. | |
| Yes. | |
| But I'm going to talk about that in a minute. | |
| The Delta Force. | |
| The thing that you described, that they're unusual guys. | |
| They're not the normal just troop. | |
| And that a lot of times the church wants to kind of get rid of that loud person or that person who has a lot of energy or that misfit. | |
| But you're saying God's army has room for them. | |
| Oh, absolutely. | |
| And it's not that every misfit in the church is one of these people, but don't overlook the misfits. | |
| They may be a little peculiar. | |
| They may be a little awkward. | |
| They may not live according to what you think their life should look like. | |
| But if they're redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ and they have that warrior ethos, that warrior soul, the warrior heart, and you need to be looking at them and trying to find potential in them because they may be the exact one that will do great things in the kingdom of God because somebody trusted them, | |
| somebody put them in a position to make a difference, and then stood back and supported them with intercessory prayer or the resources that they need. | |
| Don't overlook the misfit because the people that we brought into Delta, I would have to say to you, generally speaking, were misfits. | |
| And one of the things that made them misfits were they were creative. | |
| They were very creative people. | |
| But they were in a military that is very structured. | |
| Everything's laid out for you. | |
| You know, there's a how-to manual and everything. | |
| But they were, for the first time, they were put into a position to have to do problem solvings and figure it out for themselves. | |
| And instead of running from it, they thrived on it. | |
| Really? | |
| That's thrived on it. | |
| Everybody watching, though, has a place in God. | |
| That's right. | |
| You may be one of the ultra forces. | |
| They're your special forces. | |
| General, what was the foundation and maybe the conclusion of what the most important thing in this meeting? | |
| They came to the conclusion. | |
| It was God the Father. | |
| The Father's on earth. | |
| Yes. | |
| Yes, exactly. | |
| And it was, first of all, we all have to recognize the Father. | |
| We have to understand and pray for discernment on the character, the nature of God. | |
| Who is he? | |
| That was why Rick talked about, how did he put it? | |
| Complete salvation or I forget exactly. | |
| They were talking about making sure we're born again completely. | |
| Yeah. | |
| But his point was, God already, I mean, Jesus paid the price for us. | |
| You know, we don't have to live in condemnation every day. | |
| The Bible even says that. | |
| We don't have to live in condemnation. | |
| And I think that's what Rick was saying: we don't need to live in condemnation. | |
| We need to accept grace alone, Christ alone. | |
| Accept that and don't live in condemnation because you were repenting over and over and over. | |
| And as Rick pointed out, one of the things that God can't do because he's limited himself is remember confession. | |
| He forgets it. | |
| The whole idea was understand the nature of God. | |
| Work for intimacy with God. | |
| That's it. | |
| And then learn to hear the Father's voice. | |
| Wow. | |
| I'm telling you. | |
| I'm still absorbing all of this, but it works for me. | |
| Yes. | |
| I love having you here today. | |
| I know you've got a meeting. | |
| You're on the board of directors here. | |
| I am. | |
| I am. | |
| Somebody has to keep Rick Joyner straight. | |
| That is my job. | |
| They got to understand how you guys joke with each other. | |
| Yes, they do. | |
|
Progressives Overstepping Bounds
00:03:06
|
|
| I love him. | |
| He ordained me. | |
| He's my spiritual. | |
| What do you see going on in America right now? | |
| What's our hope for the future? | |
| Yeah, I think that, first of all, I think that the, let's say, progressives have overstepped their bounds. | |
| I think this whole abortion thing with the late term right up to the day of birth or the infanticide, once a baby is born alive, I think that's a bridge too far. | |
| And I think it has gotten attention of those that have been sort of sitting in the middle and, well, it's not for me. | |
| Abortion is not for me, but I'm not going to criticize. | |
| So I think there's a lot of people fired up. | |
| So I think that, and then the movement towards socialism, this country is still a center-right country, any way you look at it. | |
| And I think those two things are really hurting what I would call the socialist movement, the leftist movement, the progressive movement. | |
| I think that's hurting them. | |
| And I think that they're going to pay the price in 2020 for this. | |
| I think right now, I think soon, Jim and Lori, I think you're going to see more and more members of the Democratic Party starting to come out and rebuke the Ocasio-Cortez, you know, and those kinds of people, because I think they're seeing that this is not resonating very well, these people. | |
| That's happening right now, and I think that while it disturbs us to see it, it's actually a good thing because I think they're exposing themselves to exactly what they are. | |
| Literally, they want to uproot and destroy the very foundation and the America as we know her. | |
| There is no question about that. | |
| Our founding values, we understand that it's a spiritual issue. | |
| But our founding values, the values that our founding fathers established here for this nation, you know, have been so attacked and so denigrated and so, in many cases, we've been robbed of them. | |
| And there's more of that to come. | |
| And you see it now with the Second Amendment, for example. | |
| You see one proposal after another to ultimately restrict and I would say even confiscate our weapons. | |
| The First Amendment, you know, you can't stand in the public square and speak out about your faith anymore without being criticized or condemned. | |
| You can't put a cross up. | |
| So I think that those kinds of things, you know, are spiritual battles more than anything else. | |
| But they're battles that we have to get in. | |
| And I just want to say, there's several leaders in America that are unyielding, and you don't have to guess where they stand. | |
| You know, I work for Tony Perkins at the Family Research Council. | |
|
General Jerry Barker's Obedience
00:00:52
|
|
| He is one of them. | |
| Franklin Graham is one of them. | |
| But you two are also. | |
| I've never seen you equivocate on an issue. | |
| You have spoken both. | |
| You even came out and supported Donald Trump before it was popular to do so. | |
| But it's because you have reached that point in your ministry as well as in life where you hear the voice of the Lord. | |
| Yes. | |
| And you know how to recognize it. | |
| And you are obedient to what you're called to do. | |
| So thanks for standing and keep doing that. | |
| And Donald Trump loves you for it. | |
| Oh, thank you so much, General. | |
| General Jerry Barker here with us today on the roundtable. | |
| We're here on, this is, I want to keep calling it Gray Street. | |
| That's our street right. | |
| This is Main Street USA here at Heritage USA. | |
