Three and a Half Years 00:05:11
There's not one scripture that teaches there's a seven-year tribulation, but there are six specific scriptures that say it's a three and a half year tribulation.
Daniel 7, 25, he'll make war against the saints for time, times, and half a time.
Revelation 13, 5, this says, power will be given unto him to continue 42 months, and he will make war against the saints and prevail against them.
Revelation 12, verse 5 and 6, he'll make war against the woman for 1,260 days.
And then in Daniel chapter number 12, verse number 1, Michael stands up, and then will be a time of trouble such as never has been before.
And in the seventh verse of chapter 12, one person asked the angel, how long until the end of these wonders?
And he said, until a time, times, and half a time.
And Jesus said, the great tribulation starts at the abomination of desolation.
And Daniel taught in Daniel 9, 27, the abomination of desolation would happen in the middle of that last seven-year period called Daniel's 70th week, the abomination of desolation.
Jesus didn't say, before you see the abomination of desolation, then flee.
He said, when you see the abomination of desolation, then let those which be in Judea flee, because then will be great tribulation, such as never has been before, nor ever again shall be.
So there's not one scripture for a seven-year tribulation.
There are at least six or seven scriptures for a three and one-half year great tribulation.
Most people miss the first coming of Jesus Christ when he came.
I mean, they didn't accept him.
They didn't receive him.
You know, very few.
So that doesn't mean when he comes again, of course, they're not going to miss his coming.
The Bible says every eye will see him, doesn't it?
It does say that.
But here's the critical point.
And you bring up something so important.
And that is that there were 100 specific prophecies about the first coming of Jesus.
Nobody should have missed him.
But almost everyone did.
Because they didn't know the prophecies.
Now, not everybody did.
There were some of them that they knew what they were witnessing.
They reveled in it.
I mean, we had a prophecy exactly that he would come by virgin birth.
We had a prophecy he had to be born in Bethlehem.
God set the whole world in motion just to fulfill that one little prophecy in Micah 5, 2.
It was prophesied how he would die.
It was prophesied the exact amount of money of the betrayal money.
Zechariah chapter 9, 30 pieces of silver, the exact amount of money.
It was prophesied what would be done with the money.
They cast my price to the potter in the house of the Lord.
How do you fulfill that kind of a convoluted prophecy?
They cast my price to the potter in the house of the Lord.
Well, Jesus came in and tried to back out of the deal, and they said, a deal's a deal.
You got what you wanted.
We got what we wanted.
And in frustration, he throws the money down.
And the priests collect up the money.
They look at each other and say, we can't put this in the temple treasury.
This is the price of the blood of a man.
So what did they do with it?
They went and bought a potter's field.
They cast my price to the pottery in the house of the Lord.
And it all just went boom, just like that.
Nobody.
And Simeon was a priest.
And the Holy Ghost had shown him that he would not die until he saw the Messiah.
And he was getting old.
However, the day they were bringing Jesus for the rite of circumcision, he was off duty.
But he got up that morning and the Spirit said, go in today.
And he gets his priestly robes on.
And his wife said, what are you doing?
This is your day off.
He says, I know, but I want to go in.
She said, those young priests, you don't think they can do it without you, do you?
No, it's not that.
I just got to go in.
And I can see Simeon as he's up there at the front of that temple that day.
And every time those doors swung open, his eyes pivoted to that door.
About 10 o'clock in the morning, Mary and Joseph walked in with that baby, and his hands began to tremble.
He walked down to meet them, and the young priest said, we'll take care of this, Simeon.
This is your day off.
He said, I'm taking care of this one.
No, no, we can do this.
He said, I said, he pulled rank.
I'm taking care of this one.
He said to Mary, could I hold the baby?
But now the tears are splashing down his face.
He lifts his eyes to heaven and says, now let thy servant depart in peace, for mine eyes have seen thy salvation.
And while people were plotting to kill him, Simeon was enthralled.
And that's the way it is always.
There's always those people who know and those people who are just unaware.
And that's the way it's going to be this time.
A Thief in the Night 00:00:55
The Bible says that all the world will wander after the beast except those whose names are written in the last book of life.
And like you say, Pastor Jim, it's so critical that we study to show ourselves approved.
We don't need to be blundering in the darkness right now.
You know, a lot of people say, well, nobody's going to really know when it's going to happen.
That's against the Bible.
1 Thessalonians chapter number 5.
The Apostle Paul wrote and said, brethren, you know perfectly that the day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night.
But you're not children of the night.
That that day should overtake you unawares.
You're children of the day.
He plainly taught, we're not supposed to be caught by surprise.
He's laid all this.
I mean, 30% of the Bible's prophecy and 90% of those prophecies are for us right now.
Did God waste all that paper and that Bible right there for nothing?
No, no.
