Which Revelation Church Are You?

Revelation's Warning 00:05:34
It's like God is trying to warn the church, be ready for the unexpected.
Be ready.
But it doesn't have to be unexpected.
You can know.
That's exactly right.
If you want to know, all you've got to do, I brought my big Bible.
All you've got to do is start looking and reading.
Read the last book of the Bible, the Revelation.
And let God give you revelation.
He said it's a blessing to read it.
He didn't say it's a curse.
He didn't say it scared the daylights out of you.
He said, this is a book you're going to read.
This is so you will know the math, the map, the plan of the last days, John.
That's right.
And, you know, in the book of Revelation, you see, it talks about in Revelation chapter 3, it talks about the Sardis church.
And the Sardis church is known as the dead church.
And you see, it talks about in this portion of scripture that Jesus is coming like a thief for this particular church.
He's coming like a thief in the night for the dead church.
You see, I want to read this scripture really quickly.
It's Revelation chapter 3, 1 through 3.
It says this.
It's so important.
The church has missed this.
It says, and to the angel of the church in Sardis, write.
These things says he who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars.
I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you were dead, which is actually the very meaning of the Sardis stone.
The Sardis stone in history at one point in time was a very, very precious stone, but it became very common, very mundane, and it lost its value.
For example, why is a diamond so valuable?
It's because it's rare.
So sometime in this church, at one point in time, he's saying, listen, you were so alive.
You have a reputation of being so alive, but you have become dead, just like the Sardis stone.
Okay, and let's continue.
It says, be watchful and strengthen the things which remain that are ready to die.
For I have not found your works perfect before God.
And here it is.
Remember, therefore, how you have received and heard.
Hold fast and repent.
Therefore, if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief.
And you will not know what hour I will come upon you.
Who is he talking to?
He's talking to the asleep church.
He's talking to the church that is dead.
He's saying, if you don't wake up, if you don't wake up and return to me, if you don't repent, then I'm coming upon you like a thief.
He's not coming upon the church that's alive.
You see, I want to say one more thing.
See, the church has been teaching and teaching and teaching that he's coming as a thief in the night and we won't know anything about the coming of the Lord.
And we have come to believe lies because we're listening to people who are wanting to lull us into just financial security and there's no security in finances.
There's only security in God.
That's right.
Amen.
Amen.
You know, I've been teaching, I've been teaching Revelation here on Grace Root every Tuesday.
And I was teaching on the seven churches of Revelation, and it took me a couple of weeks, about four hours, just to get through those seven churches.
You see, there's actually a really, really interesting mystery, a couple mysteries.
For example, in the book of John, there's seven major miracles.
And if you study those seven major miracles in order, it actually outlines the history of Israel.
It's a fantastic mystery.
But the seven churches, the seven epistles, so to speak, written by Jesus to those seven churches that are all written in red, it actually outlines, I believe, the spiritual history of the church that was birthed at Pentecost in Acts chapter 2.
Look at the first church of Ephesus, you can see the apostolic nature.
Smyrna, it clearly represents the persecuted church.
You know, Pergamus is whenever we mix with the world.
Thyratyra represents the medieval age.
Sodis represents, you know, different portions of scripture, the Reformation period.
Philadelphia is the missionary church, which just completed.
So, if this is accurate, if these seven churches actually outline the spiritual history of the church, we can clearly see that the church of Philadelphia just completed a couple of decades ago, which means we are right now in that seventh church listed in Revelation chapter 3.
What is that seventh church before Christ returns?
It is the Laodicean church.
You see, if you want to find out what the spiritual nature of the church is today, just read that seventh church, the Laodicean church.
Let me read that church.
Do you mind, Pastor?
It says this: And to the church in Laodicea, right, these are the words of the Amen, the faithful, the true witness, the ruler of God's creation.
I know your deeds, that you are neither hot nor cold.
I wish you were either one or the other.
And because you were neither, I'm going to vomit you out of my mouth.
Think about that.
For all of the 30,000-plus scripture verses in all of the word of God, that scripture verse that speaks of lukewarm Christianity is mentioned no other place than in Revelation chapter 3, the seventh church right before Christ returns.
Churches Misled 00:00:22
We are that lukewarm church.
It even says you think you were rich, but in all reality, you're poor, blind, pitiful, and naked.
You know, it's interesting as well that every church that thought they were doing good, they weren't.
