The Thief in the Night

| I used to go to churches before I came here, and I would ask them, How many believe he's coming as a thief in the night for you? | |
| Everyone in the church raised their hand. | |
| They did. | |
| Everyone raised their hand. | |
| And I read the next verses. | |
| But he says, If you're in the light, he says, I'm not coming. | |
| Read it. | |
| You okay? | |
| Listen to me. | |
| I love having preachers help me. | |
| From 1 Thessalonians chapter 5, he says, Now, brothers, about times and dates, we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. | |
| Now, as you said, that's where a lot of preachers stop. | |
| They wait around in there and preach and say, Thief in the night. | |
| But listen to the rest of it. | |
| While people are saying, while people are saying peace and safety, well, that's what a lot of preachers are saying. | |
| Peace and safety, sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. | |
| Listen to this verse. | |
| But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. | |
| You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. | |
| We do not belong to the night or to the darkness, so then let us not be like others who are asleep. | |
| That's it. | |
| That's clear and plain. | |
| But listen to what Paul said to the church at Thessalonica, 2nd chapter, 2 Thessalonians. | |
| Listen to the first couple of verses. | |
| Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him. | |
| Now, there's two important words there: our and gathered. | |
| The word gathered in the Greek means collected together in one place, okay? | |
| So it sounds like rapture language here. | |
| In other words, God's going to gather us together concerning our being gathered to him. | |
| Who is he talking to? | |
| To the church. | |
| Listen to what he says. | |
| Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers, not to be easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy report or letter supposed to have come from us saying the day of the Lord has already come. | |

| You've been talking about deception that's in the church, brother. | |
| Listen to this. | |
| Don't let anyone deceive you in any way. | |
| For that day, what day? | |
| The coming of the Lord and our being gathered to him. | |
| That day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed. | |
| How can it get any clearer than that? | |
| That's right. | |
| Right. | |
| Right there. | |
| And it's throughout the Bible. | |
| It can't get any clearer than that. | |
| No, it can't. | |
