	And it's working out pretty well for them, right?

	Oh, everybody wants, oh, what's the economic explanation?
	What were they investing in?
	What were the government bond rates that they were selling back and forth?
	Forget about it.
	You don't need to be an economist.
	It's a dismal science anyway.

	This is something I found this morning on social media.
	This is a training video from the other bank.
	You know, the one that Barney Frank is a board member of.
	The guy who helped deregulate the restrictions on his own bank.
	That's a bit weird.
	This is their priority.
	It's all about hard economic facts.

	The most common pronouns that folks are familiar with are she and he.
	Becoming much more common, and I don't know if there's anyone in the signature bank world, but probably you have clients that use they, them as pronouns.
	They're gender neutral pronouns on purpose.
	We talked about folks that are non-binary that intentionally don't identify as male or female.
	So some of those folks use they, them as their pronouns.
	Z is another gender neutral pronoun, and the other part of that would be here, spelled H-I-R.
	And then there's some folks that say, don't use any pronouns for me, just use my name.
	So I use he him as my pronouns, but I'll go through all of these to talk about what they would sound like if I used each one.
	What do you say to that?
	I mean, Eric, you're a young man.
	I do believe I'm not speaking out of school here that I do believe.
	Do you rent the property you live in?
	Um, I do not rent it, actually.
	Do you own it?
	I do, as a matter of fact.

	When you went to get your mortgage as a young man, were you... At what point did you just assure yourself that your lender had done the adequate pronoun training?
	That's the first thing I think of.
	That's the first thing that comes to my mind.
	I've got to make sure the real estate agent is trans.
	I've got to make sure The person at the bank teller, I gotta make sure that they're a person of color.
	That's all that matters in the world, obviously.

	He is being sarcastic, but this is where we are at right now.
	The Biden administration's policies are hostage to an ideology of sheer insanity.
	And if you don't believe that it's actually an ideology,
	that is being penetrated into the minds of the youngest well there's something called the uh... jericho middle school where a hispanic studies teacher was filmed on camera talking about how if you're a ten year teacher you have a very special mission that goes as down as deep as the sexuality
	...of toddlers.

	That person should be in prison.

	If you're trying to groom people Who are minors.
	Talk to them about sexuality.

	You are the person who's targeting the innocent.
	Now you can have a sense of humor about it.
	President Trump was in Iowa and look, we all remember what Ronald Reagan taught us to be happy warriors.
	But humor is also powerful in bursting their balloon.
	Making them One thing, if I was a basketball coach, I'd be the greatest coach in history.
	I'd have a woman's team, I'd have all men, I'd have... I'm not a fan of LeBron James.
	I don't like LeBron.
	But I'd say, hey, LeBron.
	You ever think of becoming a woman?
	Because you're gonna be on my team.
	We're gonna go undefeated for the next five years, LeBron.
	I'm not a fan, but, you know, I would ask him that question.
	We have to understand it's an ideology.
	It's perverse.
	It's diabolical.
	But perhaps one of the ways to bring over the people who are afraid is just to burst the bubble.
	It's absurd.

	Bidenflation is what caused these huge interest rate increases.
	It's an upside down interest rate curve.
	In other words, short rates became much higher than long rates.
	And the problem here with this Silicon Valley bank is that they were unable to manage the risk involved in that.
	Here's who the culprit is.
	The San Francisco Fed, whose president is a woman named Mary Daly, did not exercise their supervisory responsibilities.
	They should have seen this coming.
	It was over a $200 billion bank.
	Nobody said you couldn't supervise that.
	They just didn't do it.

	They saw this coming or they just covered their eyes.
	That's the reality.

	He's going to tell us the truth because he knows. He's the Dean of the Business School at Liberty University, former Congressman Dave Bratt. Welcome back to America First. Hey, thanks. Great to be with you, Jeff. All right. So I'm no economist, but for me, it seems very simple.
	If you're a bank that's relying a lot on government bonds, then the government raises rates, makes those bonds less worth what they were yesterday, then you're going to have an issue with the liquidity of your bank.
	So how is it that this administration is still blaming President Trump?
	Yeah, well, that's crazy talk.
	And even Larry Kudlow, who I love, I think is up there, it's not Mary's fault or the Fed's fault, it's the firm's fault.
	And it's no big deal.
	If you have a free market economy, a normal economy with thousands of firms on the supply side competing in one field, That's good news, because you learn from it, right?
	The problem is everything's big now, right?
	We got big banks.
	One of the old Reagan advisors today said the greatest fear now is that we may actually turn the entire banking sector into a federal government utility, right?
	So this talk that, you know, that someone can oversee banks So the government comes in.
	What are you going to do?
	Get permission?
	Hey, can I buy a 2-year T-bill today?
	3-year?
	Is 5-year okay?
	Can I do a 10-year?
	Seriously?
	We're going to have big government and big brother overseeing every decision we make to see if we make an error?
	No!
	The price system works.
	The markets work, and the worst thing we can do is just get into this moral hazard problem, right?
	The whole problem we have is someone else is always responsible, and someone else is going to pick up the tab, and so that incentivizes these firms to take more risk, right?
	Instead of buying one year, Treasury, they bought 10 years to try to get, you know, 0.1% more yield.
	It's a Terrible disaster.
	And the more we learn about who's on the board of the bank, they should have gone bankrupt a long time ago.
	All right, so what does this mean in terms of other banks?
	The people are afraid that the smaller mom-and-pop banks, because they're not tied into politics, they're going to go under, or there's going to be a run on them, and nobody's going to rescue them.
	And what about the news that this is an international phenomenon?
	I'm in a little bit of a déjà vu right now, because I remember discussing Credit Suisse with you, Dave.
	About four bloody months ago on this show, and now it's a story again that they're going to go under.
	So, if you have a crystal ball, can you get it out right now and tell us how bad this is?
	Yes, well, the international banks and credit suites is also interesting.
	There's no way they can go under because they weren't under Trump's faulty regulation.
	That's a joke, right?
	Right.
	Right there, it's got nothing to do with Trump.
	All of this is a function of global liquidity.
	The Fed printed too much money.
	There's way too much money out there.
	It's 08, 09 all over again.
	And here comes the first Lehman Brothers crack up.
	And we'll see if more follow.
	Let's talk about the fundamentals.
	Let's talk about the fundamentals.
	Okay, let's talk about the foundation, the structure.
	Is this kind of moral hazard infected institutionalism, Is it rampant across the banking sector?
	Or is this just some stupid, you know, kids in Palo Alto doing virtue signaling on pronouns and then, you know, it comes to bite them in the backside?
	How potentially systemic is this bad business policy?
	You know, it's very systemic.
	It started off with the goofballs and connections, right?
	It's kind of analogous to the Heider-Buck-Biden economic story, right?
	You know, as long as you're associated, this trendy bank is associated with big names, you know you're covered, right?
	So that's a moral hazard, and it's contagious.
	And everyone was freaking out.
	No matter what anyone said, this thing had everybody freaking out because the average person hasn't been educated in basic economics.
	There should be no fear, no panic.
	So the one thing that should happen is the feds should come out tomorrow and say, no one's covered.
	The only people that are covered are those with $250K in FDIC insurance.
	Everyone else is uncovered.
	Go do your due diligence.
	Buyer beware.
	That's the one thing that should come out of here.
	If you want to have a country for another 10 years, it better be buyer beware.
	It's on you.
	You go find some trustworthy, ethical bankers and bank with them.
	Someone who actually does their homework.
	Banking is basically just the risk industry.
	They study risk.
	And when they don't study risk, this is what happens.
	And then, you know, all the old regulatory and Moody's and Fisk and all those guys should have gone to jail back in 08, 09, too, for lying.
	And for fraud.
	So the idea that you're going to have those guys be the policemen and the watchmen, it's a farce.
	Get rid of all of them.
	The only thing you need to do is say, buyer beware, do your homework, and then everybody will get real smart and they'll spread.
	Hey, do you know a good banker?
	Hey, you know, you trust anybody out there?
	And this would be revolutionary for the country if we finally got it right.
	And can you help explain to me how we have Biden making the statement that we'll cover everybody even over a quarter of a million?
	Surely you can't do that without legislation.
	Has he got a magic wand?
	Did he go to Hogwarts or something?
	Right?
	No!
	It's not even just all of these banks, right?
	There was an open-ended question, J.D.
	Vance asked the question this morning, and said, are all depositors at all banks covered?
	And of course you cannot do that.
	And so that's what we're talking about.
	We're talking about, you know, everything's big already, right?
	You already got big banking, big tech, big airlines, big automobile, big everything, right?
	And we socialize healthcare with Obamacare.
	And so now the real danger is, and the left, of course, wants this, they want to socialize banking, because then they control everybody.
	Who gets a loan?
	Who doesn't get a loan?
	And then you've got the Federal Reserve already doing central bank digital currency pilot programs.
	Their mandate doesn't cover any of that.
	Their mandate is inflation and unemployment.
	And they're off doing mini pilot programs on how to run the entire global universe.
	They were never going to be supporting.

	That analysis was pretty solid there, kind of clarified a lot of things for me, because the politicians we're talking about are very rich, but they don't seem to be capitalists, because what we're talking about are banks that actually don't want there to be a real free market, but just want to have their buddies on Capitol Hill to make things easier for them.
	Isn't it that simple?
	Yeah, no, that's right.
	Levin's right on target.
	If you get one line in the U.S.
	budget code, you're a millionaire forever, right?
	You've got a locked-in monopoly guaranteed by the government, and that's what the left has been doing since Al Gore and before that.
	And Russ Vogt, who is doing just tremendous patriotic work for the country, check out his budget, right?
	Somehow, when I was in Congress just a few years back, The budget was, you know, $4 or $5 trillion, and that was just huge, with a trillion-dollar deficit.
	Now the budget's $6.8 trillion, and he shows, line by line, that they're just packing out the last special interest with those extra trillions.
	And now we've got deficits of $2 trillion per year for the next 10 years.
	So you've got $50 trillion in debt in 10 years, and $2.5 trillion in interest payments per year.
	$2.5 trillion.
	That's three times the defense budget.
	So, you know, the left can do this, but they're going to blow the thing up, which may be their goal.
	And I mentioned earlier this expectation or this fear that those medium-sized banks, the mom-and-pop ones, that don't have the million-dollar lobbyists, don't have the offices here in D.C., could they be next?
	Could they be the ones that are really vulnerable, Dave?
	Well, that's the logic we've been seeing, right?
	The ultimate irony here is that the U.S.
	government shut down the entire economy, right?
	And especially small mom-and-pop shops were shut down for COVID.
	And they got no relief.
	I mean, there was checks, but most of our good folks we know think they don't really want to take a check from the government.
	And so the left engaged in all sorts of fraud.
	And here we have one, you know, medium to large-sized bank going under, and they say the whole economy's going to go down.
	Well, no, we saw what it looked like when you took the whole economy down.
	And you didn't backstop mom and pop or East Palestine, Ohio, or anything.
	And so, yeah, you're right.
	I mean, they're trying to get rid of all the spalls.
	They're trying to turn everything into big, as big as socialism.
	It's the exact opposite of Adam Smith's capitalism.
	In the opposite of James Madison's politics.
	It was all supposed to be a bunch of small actors, so no one's self-interest could rule over others.
	And we've perverted the whole system.
	Is there any easy way to undermine this moral hazard?
	What would be a quick fix, Dave?
	Well, if every Christian started voting in their pocketbook and boycotting China, right, just decouple from China, That right there, I think, would do the trick, because there's a lot of China problems wrapped up into that bank out there that just went under, and there's a lot of China problems wrapped up into some of this other stuff.
	Just start buying American, decouple from China, and start pulling away from the big guys.
	Start going to your credit unions and your local banks and your media banks that have good reputations.
	I think that's some first steps.

	Let's get back to the work of the day.
	We have a cut yesterday from President Biden as the Silicon Valley Bank crisis was unfolding and the signature bank, then the FDIC having to step in and a very strange response to what was happening.
	This is President Biden trying to Lay blame where, strangely, I don't think it makes any sense.
	Do we have that cut, Eric?
	Okay, play cut.
	During the Obama-Biden administration, we put in place tough requirements on banks like Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank, including the Dodd-Frank law to make sure that the crisis we saw in 2008 would not happen again.
	Unfortunately, the last administration rolled back some of these requirements.
	Well, there seems to be a problem with this version of history.
	Number one, Barney Frank was actually on the board of one of the banks that's going under signature.
	And then, as a presidential historian yourself, Lord Black, how many times can you say, the last administration did X?
	Well, who cares if you have the White House, the Senate, and the lower house of Congress?
	If there was an issue, shouldn't the current incumbents have fixed it?
	And not only is that the case, secondly, as Barney Frank himself said, the Frank Dodd Act had absolutely nothing to do with the problems that have arisen in the last, or at least didn't become obvious in the last week.
	And to add to that, that if President Biden was going to recount what he and President Obama did for the banking system, they might have mentioned
	That for all the eight years they were there, they had every chance, every single day of that time, to revise the requirement put through in the Clinton administration that a majority of mortgages had to be commercially unjustifiable.
	Now, they came in after everything had hit the wall, and there was a terrible problem with that.
	And indeed, that particular regulation was changed.
	But that was their opportunity to make comprehensive changes to the banking system of the kind that the president in the clip he played implied they had made, which they didn't.
	As someone who has spent decades moving with alacrity and acumen through the international business world, do you see the prognosis of broader ramifications, the connections to what's happening with Credit Suisse in Europe?
	Is this just a one-off of a woke couple of banks, or are your colleagues and the people you talk to concerned that this could be the beginning of something larger?
	As of now, I think it could be a bit larger, but nothing like the terrible worldwide banking crisis of 2008-2009.
	As of now, it doesn't seem to me, from anything I hear or come in touch with, that the banking system internationally is as in remotely a precarious position as it was then.
	I think individual banks may have been impetuous, but the central banks in the different countries can always manage that so that the people who've made the misjudgment of buying shares in the bank suffer, but the depositors do not, and the borrowers do not.
	So, you know, and I believe that's pretty much what the Secretary of the Treasury and the Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank have indicated about the Silicon Valley Bank.
	I don't see a wave sweeping over the systems of banking in the main advanced economic countries as a whole.
	You will recall in 08, 09, most of the American, British, German, French, Italian, Swiss, Dutch, Australian banks, they were all underwater.
	They had to be bailed out.
	Compulsory merged and things like that.
	It was a terrible mess.
	And the statement that we had from the White House that the regular coverage, the federal insurance, the FDIC, will not be limited to those who have a quarter of a million dollars invested, but will cover anybody's losses.
	That smacks to me a little bit of, you remember the phrase Obama used more than once, I have a pen and I have a phone.
	The idea that you can just unilaterally decide to do things that haven't been legislated.
	We've heard this before, have we not?
	We have, but I wouldn't actually begrudge it at this point.
	I mean, I just don't think good faith bank depositors should be punished.
	I don't think we are ever asking people who put their money in a bank that has got a legal charter to lend to judge the creditworthiness or management quality of the bank.
	They have a right to trust that.
	If they buy shares in the bank, then they're on their own.
	They sink or swim with the management.
	I think that that $250,000 ceiling was put in when Roosevelt initially guaranteed bank deposits in 1933, when over a thousand banks had failed and people simply lost their money.
	And at that time, 99.9% of the deposits were covered by a $250,000 ceiling.
	0.9% of the deposits were covered by a $250,000 ceiling.
	But it's an obsolete ceiling.
	Now, I think we should be more strict about issuing charters for banks, but guarantee the deposits of the banks that do have charters.
	Those who go into other types of deposit-taking institutions, I think, have maybe a less assured regime.
	But banks pay a low rate of interest, and the people who put their money there have a right to be confident that nothing's going to happen to that money.
	Nothing bad.

	However, we have a new session of the Lower House and we have the person who's in charge of the Oversight Committee, Congressman James Comer, who's being rather outspoken with regards to what they're finding In connection to the Biden family's business interests, here's Congressman Koma Katzicks.

	And what they've said in the media, oh, this was for business.
	We can't identify any business.

	The Treasury Department has agreed, shockingly, to release the details of hundreds and hundreds of Hunter Biden's suspicious activity reports for wire transfers.
	When you have a chairman of an investigative committee say the incumbent president's family is likely influence peddling.
	You're a presidential historian.
	Is there any feasible way to have this swept under the carpet for the next 18, 19 months?
	I suppose that there is by the continued, as far as I can see, absolute inactivity.
	Just complete stir idleness of the United States attorney in Delaware.
	This man, Weiss, I think his name is, has had this as a grand jury matter for five years.
	I mean, he wins the John Durham Award for doing absolutely nothing with a hot case.
	I mean, there's all kinds of evidence.
	And there's just dead silence over five years, and of course the rabidly pro-democratic media, national political media, are happy with that.
	But I suppose if this man just continues to sit on it, then nothing substantive is going to happen.
	We've already seen that the Attorney General Garland, on all such questions, takes his orders from the political leadership of the administration, and so I'm afraid the answer is yes.
	I mean, the House of Representatives can subpoena all sorts of things and all the people they want, but if the Attorney General doesn't enforce their subpoenas, we're back to Eric Holder.
	The Attorney General is the point man for the President.
	He just obstructs anything that might be harmful to the President within the area of the law.
	So whatever they find out, whatever they disclose, the Biden administration is safe?
	I think that if what comes out is really damaging in what is released, and I guess this is the way around that, if the Treasury or other places either openly release material or conscientious people within the relevant departments leak it anonymously to appropriate press outlets,
	The pressure could become so great that there would be an impeachment trial of somebody, but getting a majority in a Democratic Senate is not going to be like falling off a log.
	I think it may bubble away, but if they're determined to keep the lid on it as best they can, I suspect they can do that until the next election.

	I mean, to be fair, the playbook he had worked for him in 2016.
	I understand his tendency, anyone's would be, if it worked before, it should work again.
	But in this case, he's really only running against one person, I think.
	The others are running for Vice President, except for Pence.
	In my opinion, simply committing suicide every day.
	I mean, he's defecting from Trump, who created him as a national figure, and therefore alienating the Trump supporters, and the, you know, the non-Trump Republicans don't trust him from his days as vice president.
	So, you know, he's riding into the sunset in Indiana, I think, but the others are running for vice president, or senior cabinet position, and so if Trump appears to lead in most of the polls, Republican polls, other than in Florida.
	And I think he can hold that lead if he basically just reminds everybody that he's the one who repositioned the Republican Party where it can win, where it's taking large numbers of minority votes.
	And this was his formula.
	And he was shabbily treated by the system without overdoing it.
	And if he's not Renominated, it'll be a victory for those who hate the Republicans most, for the dishonest media and the most egregious, nasty elements of the Democratic Party.
	And that DeSantis' time is coming, you know?
	But if he does that, I think he'll win.
	I think he would be re-nominated and re-elected.
	Now, there is a great temptation for people to try and get Trumpism without Trump, and that's DeSantis.

	I found a video from Signature Bank, the one that Barney Frank is on the board, that's also a tanker, on their internal training on pronouns and when you use ze and zer.
	Is this why these banks went belly-up?
	I mean, did the wokeness just take over?
	Well, you know, so the technical reason of why they went belly up is because they were stupid.
	If I can use that as a technical financial term, because what they did is they bought long-term paper, basically, in a market or an environment where the rates were going up.
	Government bonds.
	Right, exactly.
	Long government bonds that weren't paying enough, about 2%.
	And then, of course, over the past year, the Fed's had to take up, because of Bidenflation, the rates up four and a half points.
	In fact, the fastest increase I think that we've seen in about 40 years.
	So they basically got caught with their pants down.
	But let me tell you, this was truly bad management.
	Because there was actually an open position of chief risk officer.
	That is the person that actually is supposed to be watching the ball here every single day about the risk position.
	That was an open position is my understanding.
	Hang on, you mean they didn't have a chief risk officer?
	That's great.
	You know?
	But they did have a head of DEI, right?
	Diversity, whatever.
	Inclusion and equity.
	Equity and inclusion, right?
	So they were very focused on that, which is, look, good or bad, whatever.
	The fact that they were a bank that didn't have a critical element in their executive management team was just horrible.
	And quite frankly, the fact that the president and others sold those shares literally a day or two before it all melted down.
	I mean, I think that's criminal and should be investigated.
	So, but yes, I mean, I, you know, my big question, Seb, is, isn't it interesting that regulators weren't really watching this particular bank that focused and donated so much to woke causes?
	I think there was a similar situation with, was it FTX and SAMZ or whatever?
	Yes.
	And remember the donations that he gave to all the Democrat causes and looks like everybody... Tens of millions.
	Tens of millions.
	Yes.
	Tens of millions and they turned a blind eye.

	There might be a handful of others that got caught, like I said, with their pants down with rising interest rates, but a lot of them are a lot smarter than this and know better.
	Here's my biggest concern, though, Seb, is that my understanding is this backstopping is not going to happen, it's not going to be equal across all banks, that they're really going to focus on the Tier 1 banks and the Tier 2 banks, i.e.
	the community banks, Right, the smaller regional banks that, quite frankly, are where a lot of the small businesses and minority communities... Yeah, the big guys with the big swamp connections, they'll be fine, right?
	Yep, yep.
	And the other smaller guys are going to get hit.
	Remember, Dodd-Frank, that's what happened in Dodd-Frank.
	Two thousand community banks went out of business because of the regulatory environment set up by Dodd-Frank.
	This is actually phase two of the elimination of our small business community banks, which eliminates Quite frankly, all lending opportunities for our small businesses.
	This isn't capitalism.
	This is crony capitalism.

	You've educated, enlightened me so much since I first heard of you via mutual contact at Mar-a-Lago and then everything you've done on Twitter Spaces.
	Mike, let me just share with you a comment that kind of shocked me.
	A very sober individual, one of the few truly dedicated investigative journalists made on my radio show.
	Maybe...
	Maybe about a year ago, and that man is John Solomon, a dogged investigative reporter who's worked for, you name it, AP Reuters, Washington Post, you name it.
	This is a good guy who actually still believes in journalism, created his own company called JustinNews.com, and with regards to the Russia collusion hoax that he reported on admirably and then afterwards was smeared by the mainstream media, he said the following to me, Mike, on my show.
	He said, The tools of Cold War propaganda that had been used to target the Soviet Union and our enemies have in recent years been turned inward against U.S.
	citizens.
	I mean, that's a stunning statement to say.
	How do you react to John Solomon's commentary?
	The only addition I would make is to say before it was turned inward, It was given several shots of steroids to make it bigger, badder, and meaner than it ever was.
	You see, what happened was, in the analog age, we had a Cold War propaganda apparatus that was also married to official government propaganda organs.
	We had a U.S.
	information agency.
	And at the time, in the Cold War, There really was no press by and for the people in the pure sense that it would come to be in the digital age.
	All of the traditional legacy media institutions that were popular during the Cold War were offshoots, early offshoots, of the Office of War Information.
	Really, from 1942 until the Eisenhower era, you had basically all of the means of mass communications.
	You had, you know, since the invention of the printing press, you had newspapers, but then you also had the telegraph in the 1800s.
	You had wireless communications in the 1900s, TV in Hollywood.
	All of those modalities of mass communications were all rolled into the World War II effort through OWI, the Office of War Information, and And remember, Fox News didn't come along until the 1990s.
	CBS, NBC, and ABC were all run by former OWI guys.
	There was always a back channel.
	So the office... Let's just repeat that in case people missed it.
	The handful of media organs we had until the explosion of cable news and the internet, the handful of news platforms America had, were being run by people who had been involved with the Office of War Information, correct?
	Correct.
	They were almost, almost every single one to a tee, was a veteran of, or business partner of, an office, an Office of War Information Propaganda veteran.
	Now, that's all fine and well, except that the relationship never ended.
	There was always back channels between the national security state and the editorial desks of all of the major publishing houses and newsmaking institutions in the US.
	It didn't mean that it was necessarily top-down control, but what it meant is that there was always a negotiation.
	between stakeholders within organs of U.S.
	military, intelligence and diplomatic spheres and news media and publishing houses, which is why you so often see this sort of revolving door between media institutions and public diplomacy positions within the State Department.
	For example, there's a particular wing of the State Department that's received particular notoriety lately called the Global Engagement Center.
	Yes.
	This is the subject of multiple Twitter file dumps, the subject of multiple recent scandalous revelations around the boomerang funding of domestic censorship, where the Global Engagement Center would operate essentially a laundering operation, where they would want to target domestic populist groups in the U.S., but couldn't do so directly because the State Department's foreign-facing, so they would launder it out to British firms, who would then turn around and work with U.S.
	tech platforms to censor the Americans that the State Department wanted to, but couldn't do directly.
	So they laundered it the same way you'd launder drug money by washing it.
	Instead of washing it through pizza shops or laundromats, they laundered it through British disinformation expert firms.
	Which is in contravention to their own mandate and also the constitutional protection of U.S.
	citizens from warrantless surveillance by their own government.
	And they know it and that's why they try to be so cute about it and they try to build up this sort of jargon laden academies in order to It's a good rule.
	It's a good rule.

	All right, so we have so much still to discuss, but I want to paint the accurate picture of, you know, you talked about the overlap between free market and news coverage, the Office of War Information during World War II, and now let's link it to the events that have the Office of War Information during World War II, and now let's link it to the events that What was the catalyst originally?
	Because these Quote-unquote tools to fight disinformation were being applied internationally by the State Department.
	Who were they targeting?
	What kind of political entities were they targeting abroad?
	What was the linking aspect?
	And then when did they decide, okay, well, this kind of quote-unquote enemy should be targeted here on US soil?
	Sure, so really what you started to have is a digital parallel to what was done in the analog era.
	Since really the national security state was established, really with the National Security Act in 1947, you always had forms of media-powered soft power projection, meaning hard power being physical You know, involvement, hard military involvement, soft power being things like media influence, cultural influence, economic influence.
	So you always had media soft power projection from the State Department.
	That's a tale as old as the early, you know, as early America.
	But in the digital age, the use of social media opened up the opportunity to be able to create favorable political ecosystems for U.S.
	interests abroad with a doctrine called Diplomacy 2.0 under Jared Cohen at the State Department from about 2007 to 2010, culminating in the Arab Spring, essentially toppling regimes in Tunisia and Egypt and all over Middle East, North Africa in ways that at the time were deemed to be advantageous to U.S.
	interests.
	But then really in 2014, you had events in Ukraine, particularly what happened with the referendum and annexation of Crimea as part of the Russian Federation.
	You had a new military doctrine called hybrid warfare that was espoused by the Department of Defense, the State Department, and the intelligence services.
	In order to say we need to be more aggressive about influencing hearts and minds in the media space, otherwise more territory, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe, might cede to the Russian Federation.
	So this is information warfare in the name of protecting democracy?
	Right.
	Now, this appears to be where Nina Jankovic, who you played at the beginning of this of this segment, you know, the sort of famed, perhaps infamous figure at the heart of the Disinformation Governance Board, this appears to be where she got her start in the disinformation game.
	I found, as I could not believe, frankly, in April of last year when I saw Nina Jankovic's name as being picked to head the Disinformation Governance Board, because I remember coming across that name, and I've been following her for a number of years now, since 2019 when I found her name in a set of documents related to the Integrity Initiative's UK inner cluster cell on Russia.
	Now, give us that name again so people, you know, these Orwellian Kafka-esque names.
	What is this British entity?
	So, the name of the entity was called the Institute for Statecraft, but it ran an initiative known as the Integrity Initiative.
	And by the way, Sebastian, you and I have previously spoken about the word integrity and its strange usage here as a seeming branding calling card.
	That's exactly right.
	You had the transition integrity project that we discussed as a that was used for to simulate a war game to overthrow the U.S. election of Trump won.
	Which was which was which was involving Podesta, Hillary Clinton's former campaign manager, correct?
	That's exactly right.
	He actually roleplayed the role of of of Joe Biden in in an event that Joe Biden lost the Electoral College, but had to use Black Lives Matter muscle and labor muscle to shut down critical infrastructure to force a negotiated settlement of the election.
	So, that was the transition integrity project.
	The election integrity partnership was the formal 2020 election censorship group that DHS deputized to censor on behalf of the federal government using U.S.
	cyber infrastructure at DHS to do it.
	And DHS, created after 9-11, had no mandate or remit to do censorship internally, correct?
	Oh, absolutely not.
	That all happened during the foreign to domestic switcheroo, when they used the censorship infrastructure set up to stop so-called Russian disinformation, and then simply said, well, domestic disinformation is also a threat to democracy.
	So while we have this bullet loaded in the chamber, let's just aim it at domestic speech as well.
	That's essentially what happened.
	So the Integrity Initiative, which is, again, yet another use of this word integrity as a sort of branding device for an aggregation of military intelligence and diplomatic folks.
	The Integrity Initiative was a clandestine operation set up primarily through the UK Foreign Office, but also with ties to the US Global Engagement Center that set up cluster cells within a dozen different NATO countries in order to control and manipulate but also with ties to the US Global Engagement Center that set up cluster cells within a dozen In order to control and manipulate online discourse with back channels to British intelligence.
	Now you can see in the Integrity Initiative documents, which you can download online, That in the opening introduction document given to ClusterCell members, of which Nina Jankovic was one, and of which many of actually the leading figures in the disinformation space today were part as well.
	But in the very first opening documents, they instruct newly recruited ClusterCell members to be, quote, helpfully uninformative about sources of funding for the Integrity Initiative, and to try to aggregate
	A swath across the political spheres, the cultural spheres, the journalistic spheres, and the economic spheres within each of the NATO countries in order to create a basically a whole society stakeholder consensus about what kinds of information operations to run online, and in particular black and crisis PR operations
	In order to tank the political nominations of right-wing populist candidates who are deemed to be a threat to the political integrity of NATO.
	We'll get you to explain what crisis PR and black PR is in a moment, but guys, for all the millions of people listening, I need you to know he's not reading notes.
	This stuff is in his head.
	This is why what this man does is truly remarkable.

	All right, I want to go back to what's happening internally and the story that you both broke on Tuesday, but explain these two concepts, black PR or crisis PR, and who's being targeted with regards to that, Mike?
	Right.
	So the idea is, is a democracy is a struggle for hearts and minds of the public, who in turn picks their government representatives.
	And so that is essentially a struggle between, you know, what's sort of known in the PR space is sort of white PR, which is positive press about someone or black PR, which is sort of negative press or leaving a mark.
	or inducing a crisis.
	Crisis management, crisis PR.
	These are terms for destabilizing a political figure or a region in order to open up opportunities in order to replace that person politically.
	And so, for example, in the Integrity Initiative, there was a Spanish Vox Party, a general official, Pedro Baños was his name, and the UK intercluster cell, of which Nina Jankovic was the part, as was Ann Applebaum from the Atlantic, as was Ben Nimmo from the Atlantic Council as was Ann Applebaum from the Atlantic, as was Ben Nimmo from the Atlantic Council and from Graphica, now, by the way, head Top sensor at Facebook was a part of this as well with Nina Jankovic.
	They bragged in their own internal reports how they organized a crisis PR set of hashtags and rumors online, coordinated through their stakeholder group.
	In order to create nightmare press for Pedro Baños and then take that press and run it straight to the Prime Minister of Spain in order to convince the Prime Minister of Spain that it would be hugely unpopular to have Pedro Baños in this national security position because of all the bad PR that was... This is what is called political opposition research.
	This is done by political parties usually, Mike, correct?
	Yes, well, it's an operation.
	It's not just research, it's the other end of it as well.
	It's the application.
	It's actually very similar to what was done domestically, internally, with Rene Diresta.
	And the company called New Knowledge, vis-a-vis what we now know about the 2017 Senate runoff campaign with Roy Moore.
	As it turned out, that one of the top DHS censors, the major censorship advisor to the Department of Homeland Security, who was actually deputized to censor the 2020 election using DHS infrastructure, her name is Renee DiResta, she was caught running a firm called New Knowledge, which created fake Russian troll accounts online, using a VPN to simulate a Russian server.
	She mass-subscribed 23,000 fake Russian accounts that her firm bought, and then ran the story that she had created, her firm had created, to the press, to MSNBC, to CNN, to the New York Times, who in turn laundered, created a story that Roy Moore was being backed by Russians.
	Not knowing that Roy Moore wasn't actually being backed by Russians, He was being backed by Rene Duresta's fake Russians, and then Rene Duresta's firm laundered the crisis that they had induced into the press.
	That same blueprint is exactly what Nina Jankovic's Integrity Initiative was doing, and they bragged about it in their own internal documents and claimed responsibility for getting Pedro Banos's political nomination rescinded because they created a fake press, a fake scandal, laundered it into the press, and then took that bad press to political stakeholders to convince them it would be a bad political move because of the bad political press that they falsely engineered.
	So these are scam artists being, yeah.
	Yeah, let's be clear here.
	These are government actors or people working with government actors that are using a smear tactic that is usually done by political parties.
	They're doing it internationally and now they're using it domestically against people like Roy Moore.
	That is the enormity of what we are saying right here.
	This is why The revelations of January 6 of what DHS did with intelligence units that were not authorized to do what they were doing in terms of the counter-terrorism mandate have been happening in recent years.

	We're talking about censorship.
	One of the things that's truly remarkable about your website is just the amount of information and just things that, funnily enough, nobody else is covering in the mainstream media.
	Here's a clip that you will explain for us.

	There was a lack of capability around election disinformation.
	This is not because CISA didn't care about disinformation, but at the time they lacked both kind of the funding and the legal authorizations to go do the kinds of work that would be necessary to truly understand how election disinformation was operating.
	So because of the feedback and the ideas from this group, we were able to pull together pretty quickly a project between these four different institutions to try to fill the gap of the things that the government cannot do themselves.
	There are kind of four major stakeholders that we operated with that we worked beside at EIP.
	Our partners in government, most particularly those in CISA DHS, but also in all the local and state governments with whom we operated with the election integrity So that's a description of the Election Integrity Partnership.
	such as NAACP, MITRE, Common Cause, and the Healthy Elections Project that worked at both MIT and Stanford.
	And then we also worked with the major platforms, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, Nextdoor, and the like.
	So that's a description of the Election Integrity Partnership.
	What is CISA and what are they boasting about there, Mike?
	They're boasting about the largest mass social media censorship operation in human history.
	So this group labeled 22 million tweets just on Twitter alone as misinformation incidents in the five months before the 2020 election.
	And they did this with 15 different social media platforms.
	So this is hundreds of millions of content, the pieces of content.
	Now, let me ask an obvious question.
	Millions of posts.
	That's a lot of work.
	That's a lot of man hours.
	Who's doing this and who's funding it?
	Well, unfortunately, it's not if you're powered by AI.
	And this is the dirty underside of so much of this.
	Once you have a narrative outlawed, say, mail-in ballots, if you say that mail-in ballots are not safe and secure, any narrative which undermines public faith or confidence in mail-in ballots is a, if so facto, you know, In terms of service content violation, then you can simply program the AI to detect challenges to mail-in ballots.
	You can simply keep a running database of hashtags, for example, that challenge it.
	You can do very rudimentary sentiment analysis.
	You can use Ngrams.
	You can use word embeddings.
	And you can basically create a real-time radar system for the popularity of political ideas using AI.
	And then you can simply tune it all down.
	And that's exactly what they did.
	They didn't just handpick these 22 million.
	What they did is they ran AI analysis on 856 million tweets, and the AI deduced that 22 million of them were misinformation.
	Yeah, this is, you know, if you almost think of it like a scene from The Matrix where they're being chased by sentinels from the future, that's sort of the way speech operates online now.
	And it has been the case since this technology which was developed by DARPA to stop ISIS recruiting online in 2014 and 2015 by studying ISIS linguistic dialectics.
	This was all repurposed inward After 2016, using Google Jigsaw's Perspective API and then a number of other retailers who came into the space, it's now being funded to the tune of tens of millions of dollars by the National Science Foundation.
	In order to perfect the AI, in order to be able to tune up So, to be clear, the tools that were created to stop jihadi terrorists from using the internet and recruiting fellow suicide terrorists, those tools are now being used against anybody who dares question the results of an election or who has otherwise conservative things that they're saying.
	Talk to us about this story.
	Fox News on Tuesday, DHS agency appears to be burying evidence of involvement with domestic censorship activities.
	What's this story?
	Well, our team at FFO is a frequent visitor to CISA's Miss Dis and Malinformation Team's website page.
	It's a veritable goldmine of loud and proud public confessions to domestic censorship.
	It's frankly been shocking to us for several years at this point, where you've got, since May 2021, CISA has said on its website that its Miss Dis and Malinformation Team works with tech platforms to go after, quote, domestic disinformation.
	Now, sometime in the past several months, owing in part to a combination of a Republican victory in the House in the last midterms, the revelations and political momentum from the Twitter files, as well as subpoenas that have been fired off to the tech companies by Jim Jordan's committee, and now several open hearings on the subject,
	CISA appears to be clamming up and getting bold feet about the political branch that they have to stand on with respect to being so loud and proud about domestic censorship.
	You see, every other government agency who's in on the game uses a sort of laundering device.
	The Department of Defense doesn't just come right out and say that they work with tech companies to take down domestic disinformation.
	But they will provide funding to Grafica and to NewsGuard and to a dozen other domestic censorship organs.
	They'll launder it, but they don't say it on their website that this is within their jurisdiction.
	CISA claimed that it had the power to treat domestic disinformation, your opinions online, as a cyber attack on U.S.
	critical infrastructure.
	That could be treated just like a hacking attack.
	So your opinions, for example, on COVID-19, because healthcare is considered critical infrastructure.
	If you said, you know what, I'm not sure masks really work with the efficacy they say they do.
	Someone at CISA Has the authority and very well may have worked in tandem with their private sector partners to say, you know what, that tweet is a cyber attack on US critical infrastructure.
	And we're going to use our, we're going to use our, our basically national security back channels to the content moderation teams of the tech.
	Let me take that content down.
	Let me, you know, I need to translate this for the layman.
	This is the equivalent.
	So they're saying here that if you use the Second Amendment to express an opinion, Then if that doesn't comport with what the government likes, they're going to say that's an attack against America.
	You are a national security threat, like a terrorist, and then we're going to use those tools against you.
	This is truly, truly incredible.
	Truly, truly Orwellian.

	We've got Hearings going on right now about the weaponization of the federal government for political purposes.
	If you were a witness to those, if you were advising Chairman Jordan or others, what would you say are the most important things that need to be aired?
	What things should these committees reveal to the American taxpayer and the American voter?
	Sure.
	So one is obviously the funding.
	The censorship industry is not a free market.
	It's subsidized by U.S.
	taxpayer dollars.
	The National Science Foundation has to be completely—this is weaponization of federal government.
	This is $40 million.
	This is a Sam Bankman-Fried-sized in-kind campaign contribution, essentially to one side of the political aisle, except that $40 million isn't coming from some esoteric crypto investor.
	It's coming from your own pocketbooks and savings for your retirement.
	So, all the federal government funding has to collapse overnight, and it has to be exposed.
	But there's so many other little things that have been provided in FFO reports that I hope make their way into the jumbotron of the hearings.
	For example, you've got the fact that EIP, who we just talked about, who is the partner of CISA, said in their own documents, they had an infographic showing that the purpose of their censorship techniques to stop your social media posts before they hit, quote, the virality threshold, Number one was to stop three categories of, quote, IRL, in real life actions from happening.
	One was from the social media, stopping the social media posts from getting mainstream news coverage.
	That's nefarious, but somewhat self-explanatory and not particularly shocking given their stated goals.
	Number two was to stop in real life protests, not violent protests, not terrorism or extremism.
	So the right of assembly, as is protected in the U.S.
	pressure on politicians to take action and demonstrate the seriousness of conviction.
	So the right of assembly, as is protected in the U.S. Constitution, is a bad thing for these people.
	That's right.
	So it's not just Part 1A of the First Amendment, freedom of speech, it's Part 1B, so to speak, because it's freedom of speech and freedom of assembly.
	They don't want freedom of assembly because, in their own literature, they've shown that when people actually go out and demonstrate in protest, it actually helps mobilize regulatory and legislative action on behalf of those constituents.
	So they wanted to stop the legislative reform They deliberately set to chill your right of due process and your ability to actually get the government to change.
	This is the U.S.
	they wanted to stop, in their own words, was legal actions or lawsuits on the basis of narratives that they deemed to be misinformation.
	So understand that they deliberately set to chill your right of due process and your ability to actually get the government to change.
	This is the U.S. government deputizing a private sector group explicitly in advance, knowing that they didn't have legal authorization to do it themselves.
	And so they filled the gaps by outsourcing to this other group.
	So the federal government using an outside group to stop you from pursuing legal action that could challenge the federal government.
	If any third world dictatorship did this on any plot of dirt outside the U.S.
	mainland on this planet, We would call that a sanctions predicate and lobby to have that country economically devastated if they try to do something like that.
	And they were deemed to be adverse to U.S.
	interests.
	But we're doing it at home against half the U.S.
	population.
	And it's in writing.
	So hold, I would say, Jim Jordan, laminate, laminate that page from the report.
	It's right there in FFO.
	Hold that up in front of the American people and watch as the sunlight disinfects.
	Last thing, what has to happen next to fix all this?
	What is the minimum, whether it's big tech, whether it's government regulation?
	How do we put safeguards in place, Mike?
	So as we mentioned, first and foremost, cut the funding and you're going to instantly cut 200,000 jobs of censorship industry professionals.
	That is an easy thing that the House Appropriations Committee could do tomorrow if they had the political will to do so.
	But another thing that has to be targeted at some point is the technology used in the process of censorship.
	We mentioned how AI was actually what allowed 20 million tweets to be instantly censorable by a small a small cluster cell essentially within DHS for the 2020 election.
	If the sensors were forced to go back to pre-2016 technology because of regulatory constraints placed on the ability to use AI as the monitoring tool, or at least to provide transparency around what the terms that are being used are, so that American or at least to provide transparency around what the terms that are being used are, so that American people know how they're being algorithmically or through the use of artificial intelligence or machine
	If you can force them back to the Stone Age, on the technology side, they will not be able to compete with the forces of freedom in the propagation of ideas online.
	The forces of freedom and the forces that are attacking freedom need to be sent back into the stone age.
