	CDC recommends
	that everyone in K-12 schools wear a mask indoors, including teachers, staff, students, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status.
	Children should return to full-time, in-person learning in the fall with proper prevention strategies in place.
	CDC recommends community leaders encourage vaccination and universal masking to prevent further outbreaks in areas of substantial and high transmission.
	With the Delta variant, vaccinating more Americans now is more urgent than ever.
	The highest spread of cases and severe outcomes is happening in places with low vaccination rates and among unvaccinated people.
	This moment And most importantly, the associated illness, suffering, and death could have been avoided with higher vaccination coverage in this country.
	COVID-19 continues to present many challenges and has exacted a tremendous toll on our nation.
	We continue to follow the science closely and update the guidance should the science shift again.
	We must take every step we can to stop the Delta variant and end this pandemic.

	You heard right.
	Yes, the masks are back.
	But this time, for those who are fully vaccinated, You are meant to don your masks again despite having had the vaccination administered and to wear those masks indoors, including for children in school.
	Do not comply with the science deniers.
	This has nothing to do with reality.
	Look at the facts.
	We are talking about a disease that killed 600,000 people, almost all exclusively of an advanced age with existing comorbidities.
	At the same time, the most egregious part of this decision from the Biden administration is to mask children.
	Children who, if you look at the actual data for infection and death, are almost, to all intents and purposes, invulnerable to the coronavirus unleashed from China.
	They have a mortality rate, children have a mortality rate with COVID-19 of 0.05%.
	But they want you to live in fear.
	But they want you to live in fear.
	They want to deny the efficacy of the vaccine.
	They want to deny the concept of a vaccine.
	Never, never in human history.
	Have multiple vaccines been deployed against one and the same disease and afterwards the health authority deemed it necessary to physically put a barrier on your face after you've been vaccinated?
	It is sheer, utter insanity.
	We must not comply.
	If you want to get vaccinated, fine, do it.
	Your body, your choice.
	If you don't want to get vaccinated like myself, Don't do it!
	My body, my choice.
	I have caught the coronavirus.
	I am not scared of the Delta variant.
	I have more antibodies for coronavirus in my bloodstream than any artificially induced vaccine could ever produce.
	That is science.
	There is no vaccine that provides greater protection than somebody who has already Survived infection from the virus, whichever virus it is.
	This is the point where we must resist.
	This is where you understand the actual science denial is not from conservatives, is not from Republicans.
	It is from a government out of control.
	A year and a half of lockdowns, of schools being shut.
	Millions, almost 50 million people losing their income.
	Thousands of Businesses closed, shuttered forever after years, sometimes decades of investment and family commitment to a business that has gone.
	We didn't resist back then.
	Now is the time to resist.
	Do not allow people around you to be cowed.
	If a relative, if a friend, who you know has taken the decision to be vaccinated, starts putting on a mask again, ask them why.
	Not the CDC and that fearmonger, that utter, utter fearmonger, the director Walensky said so.
	Because that's not how it works in a democratic republic.
	We don't do something simply because a government official tells us to.
	That is in authoritarian regimes, that's in fascist, that's in communist regimes.
	We do things because it is true, because it is sound, because it is empirically and morally justifiable.
	None of that applies right now.
	It is empirically an absurdity to mask the vaccinated.
	It is morally unjustifiable and reprehensible to again promote fear amongst the most vulnerable.
	After a year and a half of people who were sick, With cancer diagnoses, who had psychological conditions, who were separated from their families, their loved ones, people who couldn't even have visitors as they died in hospital.
	We must never, ever allow that inhumanity to our fellow man happen again, not on our watch.
	If they demand, no, you must close down your business again, don't close it down.
	If they demand that your child stay at home or be masked when they come into school, refuse.
	They don't work.
	for Walensky.
	They don't work for Fauci.
	They don't work for that senile, decrepit husk of a machine politician called Joe Biden.
	They work for you.
	How long are you going to take it?
	How long is America going to give in to an utter atmosphere of fear and intimidation?
	This nation was founded on the principle of individual liberty, of individuals having the right To assume risk in their lives.
	To have the right to make decisions over the future of their lives.
	It is not founded on taking a knee to government bureaucracy.
	In genuflecting to the diktats of those who no one elected.
	Because Walensky, Fauci, nobody elected you.
	It's wrong.
	It is a denial of science, and it is utterly, morally bankrupt.

	That's where I think we should be right now, because we continue to waste our breath on people who are just Not going to change their, you know, the circular logic.
	They just keep going back and saying, well, it's my freedom.
	It's whatever.
	I'm free.
	Finally, you know, Mark, the President of the United States takes an oath to faithfully execute the laws of the United States as his duty as President.
	And we've impeached the President for a phone call.
	And under that low bar, the new low bar of impeachment, what do we do with a President who says to the American people, I'm not going to enforce the laws that I took an oath to faithfully execute?
	It doesn't make any sense.
	It's madness.

	They have their committee to investigate the quote-unquote insurrection of January the 6th and already the theatrics have begun and the targeting of Trump voters just today with one MPD office saying yes the xenophobia that he witnesses is a redolent of the xenophobia of Trump supporters.
	Is this just an attempt to criminalize all conservatives.
	Let's ask a man who has been on the front lines of the attempt to bring back the Republic as envisaged by our founders, a true freedom fighter for the truth.
	None other than Governor Mike Huckabee.
	Governor, welcome back to America First.

	And, you know, the event today at the Capitol was It was something that already has been determined what the outcome is going to be.
	We're going to go through weeks, if not months, of hearings and all sorts of... But not one firearm was confiscated off one of the rioters.
	Not one!
	The only person who was killed that day, directly, was Ashley Babbitt, who was a Trump supporter.
	And we still don't know who shot her.
	So there's a lot of things that I wish they would get to and find out.
	I certainly have never been sympathetic with the people who broke into offices and broke things and smashed windows, or who assaulted police officers.
	They should pay for those crimes, and those are crimes.
	But to say that the entire thing was an insurrection to overthrow the country is absurd on its face.
	Governor, you've been in politics for a long time.
	You now have your own television show, The Incredibly Successful Huckabee on TBN, but you used to run the state of Arkansas, so you've had to deal with liberals, with independents, with Democrats.
	I have to ask you this question.
	Do you have any sense that in the last six months, especially with those dozens of rioters being kept in solitary confinement, some of them grandmothers, none of them being charged with insurrection, just trespassing, do you think that there is possibly There are people who voted for Joe Biden.
	There are people who call themselves Democrats who have buyer's remorse after what they've witnessed in the last six months and are starting to see through and actually understand what the modern Democrat Party has become, Governor?
	I certainly hope so.
	I would like to think that people who see those kind of things would recognize this is not the way we do justice in America.
	It's ridiculous to say that the people who are even engaged in breaking into the Capitol and making a mess of things deserve solitary confinement.
	Most of them have no prior criminal history.
	Many of them who are being held without bail through this entire process Weren't even engaged in anything violent.
	One of them was a guy who was charged with standing on the grass and getting on a statue because he just happened to be standing there.
	And he's charged with a felony for that.
	Could do 15 years in prison.
	He didn't hit anyone.
	He didn't enter the Capitol itself.
	I mean, it's those kind of things, Dr. Gorka, that makes you scratch your head and say, what is the end game here?
	But I would like to believe that there are some fair-minded, constitutionally sensitive Democrats, and they may not be the far left, because I don't think that they're capable of common sense, but who recognize that this is a dangerous place for us to go, for us to start imprisoning people, making them basically political prisoners, because they happen to have a strong point of view that wasn't acceptable to the left who's running this country right now.

	Governor, let's talk about the other targeting, not with regards to January the 6th, but given the fact the CDC is announcing today in some kind of weird denial of science that those who have been fully vaccinated now should also wear masks inside buildings.
	Your reaction to the the tarring with one broad brush those who are yet unvaccinated and who will not be vaccinated as stupid Trump supporters?
	Well the facts just point that that's not the case.
	The single largest demographic group that is not getting vaccinated are African-Americans followed closely by Hispanics.
	And the fact is it's not Trump supporters who are most resistant.
	Heck, Trump himself got the vaccine.
	So did Melania.
	I'm a Trump supporter.
	I got my shot in January.
	Never hesitated.
	I thought it was for me, with my medical history, having had pneumonia, a far less risk to take the vaccine than to get COVID.
	I've got close friends who have spent time in ICU.
	I have others who didn't make it, who actually died from COVID.
	So I'm very sensitive to the fact that this is a serious disease for some people.
	Others may get mild symptoms, but sometimes you never know who that's going to be.
	I don't want it to be me to have the serious case.
	So this idea that Trump supporters are the ones who are resisting, the facts, the figures, even surveys that have been taken by people like the Kaiser Foundation, simply don't reflect that.
	And I think it's not only unfair, but it's also counterproductive.
	I'll tell you who ought to own up to some responsibility.
	Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
	They were the ones who throughout this process were adamant in saying that, uh, they might never take a vaccine that if it were developed under the Trump administration, they didn't trust anything that Donald Trump had a part in and that they would be very hesitant to take a vaccine that was put on the market so quickly.
	Then when they took office, suddenly it was as if everything was their idea.
	They inherited a solution and they never acknowledged that President Trump was the one who brought that to market.
	years in advance of what anyone thought was possible.
	Yeah, truly shameful.
	He is the author of God, Guns, Grits and Gravy.
	In the last 60 seconds we have with you, Governor Huckabee, what is your message to all people, not just in Arkansas but across the nation, who've lost hope as conservatives and say, that's it, it's over, communism is here?
	That's not true.
	I would say Let's remember the words of one Barack Obama who said, elections have consequences.
	And what we're seeing are the consequences of an election where a lot of conservatives just didn't understand how important it is.
	So two things.
	Number one, don't sit the next election out.
	We saw what happened in Georgia when that took place.
	Secondly, let's do what a lot of people are doing in their communities.
	They're showing up at school board meetings.
	They're showing up.
	At board meetings of major corporations and of colleges and universities.
	And they're not being silent anymore.
	They're not being cowered over into the corner.

	Sebastian, it's good to be with you.
	So, I know I'm just a humble radio host and you're just a humble farmer, but isn't there some scientific problem with the announcement made 45 minutes ago that if you're vaccinated you can put on one of these little thin tissue masks and you must do so inside buildings?
	I'd love your reaction to this latest announcement from the CDC.
	First of all, it looks extremely political because you had a couple days ago, they said, well, we're going to look at it.
	We might have to do it.
	It just doesn't seem like we're following the science.
	And if you go back to before this outbreak began, it was always you had to wear an N95 mask or better.
	Yes.
	Right.
	Yeah.
	If you were, if you had any, if you were worried, if you, if you had underlying conditions and, And you were concerned about getting sick.
	That was the major mask that you would wear.
	Also, you mentioned farming.
	You also would have to wear an N95 mask in agriculture a lot of the time if you're out in the dust and you have allergies, things of that nature.
	So this is, it just smells political.
	There's no evidence that these masks have worked.
	You have states that never had a mask mandate, states that did.
	You know, we know that this really attacked the The senior population, especially in nursing homes, where it just went viral and really killed a lot of people earlier.
	And look, this is the thing that bothers me.
	The one thing that nobody's talking about that I try to tell everybody that I talk to when they ask me about COVID, be ready in case you get it, because the therapeutics can work, and you really need to get treated immediately.
	Just like you would get treated immediately if you got strep throat or the flu.
	This is fascinating.
	And I'm not the only one who lived this experience.
	I tested positive for coronavirus before Christmas.
	And the doctor who gave me the positive results said, just go home.
	Now, excuse me?

	I had a physician who said, OK, you're taking hydroxy right now.
	I had sniffles, Congressman, for three days and I was back in action.
	We have ways to beat this, don't we?
	Well, there's a lot of therapeutics that have been around for a long time.
	So I also had symptoms of COVID.
	Later, I found out that I actually did have it.
	And the doctor that I worked with immediately told me to go home and have your wife go get The steroids, breathing treatment, a Z-Pak, and told me that if it gets any worse, then we'll come and take a test.
	But right now, the main thing for you to do is get on these therapeutics immediately.
	Those are all things that have been around for a long time.
	They're safe, and they work, and we know they work.
	The problem has been, just like what you said, if you just send people home and they're panicking, Well, it's absolutely nuts to not use these proven therapeutics.
	And of course, we all know the whole issue about hydroxychloroquine, which now we find out that it works.
	There's ivermectin.
	And that's usually recommended from what the doctors tell me.
	As long as you get on it early and you're not getting better after 24 to 48 hours, that's when you want to take these antivirals.
	And for the love of God, why would the CDC not be out talking about therapeutics?
	Why would the White House not be talking about therapeutics?
	We know this Delta variant is extremely, extremely contagious, more contagious than the earlier variants.
	We also know that if you treat it early, it doesn't appear like this is having the impact that it had early on.
	Where there was a lot of hospitalizations.
	And that's the same evidence that's coming around the globe from people who have been hit by this Delta variant.
	It's a denial of science and it's also a topic they don't wish to talk about for some reason.
	It's the therapeutics.

	This is designed to cover Pelosi.

	She's the one who won't explain why the National Guard was there.
	She's the one that can't explain why the fences weren't put up.
	Having protests in Washington, D.C.
	around the Capitol is a norm.
	They knew that tens of thousands of people were coming, and they weren't prepared.
	She's vulnerable.
	So, yeah, it's a terrible thing.
	The police officers have testified, but Republicans I've never heard it put like that, but it's perfect.
	That's why he's Devin Nunes, known for his clarity.
	She's the mayor of the Capitol.
	It's her responsibility.
	And they're done.

	I mean, there's not much needs to be figured out.
	If there's going to be a protest, you probably need to put fencing up.
	And if it's going to be a big protest, you probably need to have National Guard and Reserve.
	I've never heard it put like that, but it's perfect.

	You know, all the talk shows, as brilliant as you guys are, some of your guests come on and even sometimes the talk show hosts talk about what a horrible thing it was.
	Don't get me wrong, it was.
	But it wasn't the conservative group that was there, that massive amount of people.
	We've been to so many of those rallies, and they're good, kind, law-abiding citizens that would never do what happened that day.
	We literally saw police officers pulling fencing aside, dancing in place, taking selfies, And opening the door to the Capitol and letting people in.
	Now, people were dumb enough to walk in, not realizing, oh, I could get in trouble for this.
	They were oohing and aahing, walking, and I saw videos of them walking through with the velvet ropes, and they're just kind of looking up at the ceiling and the walls, and it was more of an awestruck moment than a let's destroy the place moment.
	That's not who we are.
	Can I react, Kenny?
	Yes, sir.
	So here's my take.
	And look, this is just from what I have seen with my own eyes.
	I'm not an investigator.
	I'm not on this witch hunt committee.
	Everything, everything must be included.
	The vast majority, 90 plus percent, were peaceful individuals who are upset Some of them were, as you say, stupid.
	The police opened gates, opened doors and ushered them in and at that point onwards they did things in some cases that they should have done.
	Others were Rioters.
	There's some disturbing footage of people who I don't think are provocateurs, who really were angry at the results of the election and did things that they shouldn't have done, including hurting police officers.
	The last thing that is also clear, Kenny, is there were Democrats disguised as MAGA in there to foment violence.
	All of those things happened at the same time.
	The bottom line is the following.
	We are not going to get one iota of truth from Nancy's Witchfinder General Commission.
	It's going to be a weapon used against Trump voters.

	They have launched the Select Committee on the January 6th quote-unquote insurrection and already a good friend of this show 40th NYPD Commissioner Bernard Carrick when he heard the first testimony tweeted this out when a Capitol Police sergeant tearfully, tearfully testified that he felt this is the day he was going to die.
	Bernie had this to say.
	Having commanded the NYPD on September the 11th, having been stabbed and shot at, witnessed numerous colleagues shot and killed in the 80s and 90s in the line of duty, I am shocked At the cowardice of these officers.
	They should be fired.
	They are not fit for duty.
	But it's not just the failure of those officers.
	It's, as Devin Nunes said in the last hour, the mayor of Capital City, Nancy Pelosi, who should be investigating herself.

	Yeah, well, as I said, I can't comment on the testimony of this officer today as Bernie Kerrick did.
	I didn't hear it.
	I think the composition of the committee is an outrage.
	You've got Adam Schiff, you've got Raskin, who believed that Trump stole the 2016 election and was the impeachment counsel, and Liz Cheney and Kinzinger or whatever's his name, the renegade Republican congressman from Michigan.
	It should be expelled from the Republican Party.
	That isn't a select bipartisan committee at all.
	It's a carefully selected group of Trump haters.
	On the record is Trump haters.
	And the chances of any kind of fair proceeding from them is zero.
	And the whole thing is just a complete mockery.
	And we know, and in this I agree with Bertie Carrick, as I do on most things, but we know from the evidence that used elsewhere, including in other genuinely bipartisan congressional hearings, that the chief of the Capitol including in other genuinely bipartisan congressional hearings, that the chief of the Capitol Police begged Speaker Pelosi, who was the correct person to appeal to in these matters, and the
	begged Speaker Pelosi, who was the correct person to appeal to in these matters, and the mayor of Washington, Bowser, for reinforcements for days prior to January 6th.
	They ignored it completely.
	And as Carrick said, Pelosi should be investigating herself.
	Already he's getting a lot of flack, and I'm curious whether you think it's justified.
	Kevin McCarthy was asked about exactly those two members, Kinzinger and Cheney, and their future, and he said, we will have to decide if they should be punished in any way, shape, or form.
	Well, surely their acquiescence to be puppets on this committee should be reason enough, shouldn't it?
	I would have thought so, but I don't want to second-guess the minority leader here.
	He's been, I think, quite successful and shown a good deal of principle and steadfastness in Maintaining good relations with the former president, and maintaining good relations with the very large Trump-supporting faction of his congressional caucus, but not being too authoritarian.
	And, you know, he's better situated to judge how best to handle this than I am.
	But I would have thought, as far as I'm concerned, any Republican, The impeachment vote against President Trump should be turfed out of the party.
	I mean, Trump is the party leader.
	It is absolutely clear that he did not commit any offenses at all.
	And people who vote that he did, and particularly those who assist in amplifying this absolute nonsense that he was calling for an insurrection.
	I mean, the guy in the Chewbacca, Chewbacca, and so on.
	I mean, they were going to govern the country with that?
	And almost none of them had any weapons.
	It wasn't an armed attack.
	It wasn't an organized attack.
	It was an inadvertent attack that could have been predicted, was predicted by the then chief of the Capitol Police, inquired for his trouble, and was ignored by Speaker Pelosi and Mayor Bowser when they were appealed to for reinforcements, which could easily have been provided.
	I think it is part of the Democratic plan to try and perpetuate Trump 8.
	That's the only campaign they have had for the last five years.
	That's all of that.
	It's just Trump is bad.
	He's evil.
	He colluded with the Russians.
	He made improper approaches to the president of Ukraine.
	He attempted to overthrow the government.
	All rubbish, complete rubbish.
	And what frightens them now is what they call the big lie that the last presidential election was tampered with is more accurately described by President Trump himself as the crime of the century.
	I mean, the fact is, there are real doubts about it.
	It's not for me to say that it was actually stolen, but as Senator Kennedy of Louisiana said the other night on Fox News, where you have 44 million mail ballots, millions and millions of ballots cast by people other than those to whom the vote belonged, and election day stretched out over weeks, there's bound to be some concern about it. there's bound to be some concern about it.
	And in the swing states, I mean, 44 states went out without any problem, but in those six selected swing states, there were a lot of funny things, and not one of the 18 lawsuits launched challenging the constitutional and legal integrity of the election in the different and not one of the 18 lawsuits launched challenging the constitutional and legal They were rejected for process reasons.
	And so the issue was out there.
	The judiciary ducked the issue.
	And the Democrats are trying to pretend it isn't an issue, and the real issue is that Trump tried to overthrow the government after he lost the election.
	Well, the fact is, all he wanted was a peaceful, patriotic demonstration after what he thought was a very questionable and tainted election.
	Do you think, we only have a minute left in this segment Lord Black, do you think that this commission could do some good in terms of the apolitical realizing just how radicalized the Democrat Party has become?
	Yeah, you mean if it's so absurdly partisan, straight mudslinging operation, it could appall a lot of people.
	I think there's a chance of that, yeah.
	I'm not a Pelosi hater particularly, but I think like many people, On the issue of Trump, a cuckoo bird flies over her head.
	She can't think or speak rationally on the subject.
	No, that is clear.
	The animus has risen to such a level that it makes it impossible for these actors to think rationally or even logically.

	And you know, there had not been an impeachment case prior to Nixon for over a century, going back to Andrew Johnson.
	And we've had, what, three of them since, right?
	We had one with Clinton and two with Trump.
	And they were warming up to it a bit at Iran-Contra, but couldn't quite get there because Admiral Poindexter said, you know, the buck stops here.
	But they can't resist the temptation.
	And it's all nonsense.
	Even though I was not a Clinton supporter, I thought It was not right to impeach him.
	I mean, what he did was tawdry and contemptible, but it wasn't the sort of thing... It wasn't a high crime.
	And you met him after he left office, correct?
	Mr. Nixon?
	Yes.
	Yes, I did.
	I knew him quite well in the last five years.
	I had dinner with him a number of times.
	And in London and in New York and at his house once.
	And in Toronto.
	And I did.
	I had conversations with him and quite a correspondence with him.

	I think we need to calmly step back and maybe look at Trump in a different context.
	He is America's, our own, American war criminal.
	Of a kind we've never experienced before.
	You just said war criminal.
	What do you mean war criminal?
	I did.
	Well, in international law, there have been, quote, crimes against humanity.
	I think what we're talking about Trump's crimes as an American war criminal in his own country, that he has perpetrated upon our people, including the tens of thousands of people who died because of his homicidal negligence in the pandemic, putting his own electoral interests above the health of our people as they were slaughtered in this pandemic.
	Homicidal negligence that led to the mass slaughter of tens of thousands as he introduces his response by saying, we have to calmly step back.
	That is Karl Bernstein.
	I'm not sure he knows the meaning of the word irony.
	Somebody who does is an expert on the Nixon administration.
	He's our regular guest.
	He's the author of Richard M. Nixon, A Life in Full.
	I need to talk about your latest article in American Greatness, but first, let's get your reaction to Bernstein's accusation of Trump as a war criminal, Lord Black.
	Well, Bernstein is just a greaser.
	I've only met him once, and it's not for me to say whether he's completely dishonest or crazy or a mixture of the two.
	But to say that Trump was a war criminal and cite his illustration of that, the tens of thousands of people he negligently was responsible for the death of in the COVID pandemic, is simply a madman or a completely silly person or both.
	The fact is, He is the chief benefactor of the entire world for rushing into development and distribution efficient vaccines.
	I mean, the Chinese vaccines are useless.
	The Russian vaccines are not very effective.
	Some British ones aren't.
	Some New York, Finland are.
	But Trump beat the best scientific experts guess of when a vaccine could be ready for distribution two and a half years.
	Undoubtedly, the lives of a huge number, possibly, including Carl Bernstein.
	And it's a single note for effectively, maybe not murdering people, but being involved in a manslaughter of the innocent because of his handling of the COVID It's just a malicious fabrication.
	That, in some jurisdictions, would be a criminal libel.
	It's a deliberate, untruth alleging, a grievous, heinous crime, of which the individual accused is completely innocent.
	Not only innocent, in fact, you know, deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for saving a huge number of lives.
	In addition to the Abraham Accords as well, to mention just two justifications.
	Let's talk about the incident in history that made Carl Bernstein undeservedly famous.
	Your latest piece with a wonderful title from the editors at American Greatness is 50 Years of Deep State Propaganda.
	And it has to do with the Nixon debacle and the Watergate scandal.
	You met President Nixon after he left office.
	You got to know him.
	You wrote a superlative work on the man.
	Can we just start with the basics?
	How is it that he has gone down in conventional wisdom as the crook, tricky dicky, when, as you have pointed out in your book and in this latest article, and I just summarized it and tell me if I'm passing you ineffectively, there is no evidence that he actually committed a crime with those payments.
	No, there never has been.
	And, you know, he never tried because he wasn't well enough to face a trial or, you know, to go and give evidence of the trial.
	He got a pardon so he wasn't going to be tried himself.
	But the fact is that there isn't.
	That is the inconvenient fact about this whole Watergate business.
	There is no evidence Nixon committed a crime.
	Some people in his entourage did.
	There's no doubt about it.
	But they did not allege that Mr. Nixon told them not to.
	They're basically perjury charges in getting evidence and obstruction of justice.
	But none of them alleged that Nixon told them to do it.
	So the whole thing rests on, did his approval of payments to Watergate defendants and some of their supervisors, did that constitute obstruction of justice?
	And the closest we have is a Howard Hunt case where his wife had just tragically died in a plane crash and he had a number of young children, and Nixon said, give him the money he wants, but he didn't say as long as he keeps quiet or lies under oath or anything like that.
	He never said anything like that.
	There's never been one shred of evidence that that's what Nixon authorized the payments for.
	And he always alleged, and there's some evidence on the tapes that he specifically said, they've got to be able to pay their lawyers and feed their families.
	And so we'll, you know, we'll give them money for that.
	There's nothing wrong with that.
	And the fact... I mean, if I can just add one thing.
	Yes.
	Richard Nixon was a very competent lawyer.
	And he certainly knew a great deal about the law and particularly how the law worked with politicians.
	If he had just doled out the money like that, I'm clear understanding that in order to receive the money, the people who received it had to lie under oath.
	He would have had insanity as a defense.
	I mean, no sane person would do that and imagine it wouldn't blow up in his face immediately.
	And if there was any evidence, we wouldn't have had one moment's peace in 50 years without that greaser Bernstein and his sidekick on television lecturing us again about the evils of Nixon.
	If they had any real evidence, They would have been a lot more noisy than they have these last 50 years.
	So what does it mean in that case that a lie, a calumny, has survived so effectively and permeated into the popular culture for nigh on half a century now?
	Well, I think what it means is that everyone felt happy because They did.
	Look, as he said himself, he seriously mismanaged the issue.
	There's no doubt about that.
	But as a result of that, he was deserted by almost everybody.
	And then they all started congratulating themselves.
	And so the media people involved, especially Woodward and Bernstein, but others showered themselves with press awards for perceptive reporting and that sort of thing.
	And for the Republicans, it became a hallmark of virtue to have been anti-Nixon.
	And who'd been early on to the bandwagon that he was really, whatever his talents, that he was morally unqualified to be president.
	And it's sort of the Lowell Weicker view, you know, that kind of thing.
	And for the Democrats, it's just been a festival for 50 years on how they saved democracy from this mad imperial subverter and suborner of the office.
	And it's in Napoleon's phrase, lies agreed upon.
	I mean, the lie was out there.
	Nixon, obviously, made serious mistakes.
	And look, there were some aspects to that whole Watergate business, the whole dirty tricks thing and the plumbers and the whole thing that was... I mean, they weren't They weren't good, you know.
	We've got to admit that, Sebastian.
	They weren't good.
	And Mrs. Nixon tolerated and to some degree encouraged.
	A somewhat lax view of these things.
	But he was brought up in the Truman Eisenhower era.
	The president did what he wanted.
	Sadly, we are out of time.

	If he just said, look, I didn't know anything about this, and I'm embarrassed by it and concerned about it, and I put X in charge of this, he will deal with it, I will deal with it, and I will rely on the process to determine who was guilty of wrongdoing.
	But I ask everyone to remember the because often of innocence is something everyone's entitled to.
	Yeah.
	And just, you know, steered away from it.
	It had nothing more to do with it.
	It would have just been, you know, wouldn't have affected them at all in the end.
	Sad that conventional wisdom is so against the grain of reality.
	But the history sets it right eventually.
	And it's starting already.
	There's a play about Watergate showing that Nixon, in fact, was innocent.
	But it's just starting in New York in a few weeks.
	Really?
	And, you know, eventually people say, well, wait a minute.
	Everyone says this guy was guilty, but was he?
	It's like the Yalta myth in Roosevelt.
	It was complete rubbish.
	They got everything they wanted.
	Churchill wrote everything they wanted out of Stalin.
	And if Ted Morgan had been a bad agreement for the West, Stalin wouldn't have violated every clause.

	So, you're ringing up to tell me the publicly funded national radio broadcaster actually knowingly published an article before the violence occurred which would have demonstrated to the world that it was a sham, and they actually published that.
	Is that what you are saying, Tom?
	No, I'm saying I saw my wife found this.

	And it's like when they do an obituary on somebody in advance.

	They know that Donald Trump is holding a rally.

	saying people have gathered in DC and then hours later they add oh and there's now writing at the Capitol Hill the time at the top of the article when it was first published doesn't change.
	But that doesn't mean that the stuff that was added later wasn't added later.
	That's what happened with the NPR story because I looked into it and thought for myself.

	What is it, the enemy number one for the KGB?
	I'll tell you this.
	It's nearly impossible, Sebastian.
	And you know my husband as well, Keith Koffler.
	And Keith told me when I was trying to get into the intelligence community, he said, don't even try.
	And it took me years and years.
	In total, it was almost seven years.
	I got about five different job offers from all kinds of three-letter agencies.
	And then they would start the security clearance process.
	And it would drag on and on and on.
	And so finally, after about seven years, I walked through the door and Keith said, no normal person would ever have the patience and the fortitude To do this.
	But I was just on Cloud Nine.
	I loved my work at the DIA.
	Everything about it, it's the greatest career that one can have and it was very rewarding to work towards protecting America.
	It's super impressive.
	I wasn't born behind the Iron Curtain.
	I was only born in England.
	When I got my clearance in the Trump administration, my SF-86, my clearance form, Even as a guy who wasn't born behind the Iron Curtain, 76 pages long.
	So that's how complicated it can get.
	I'm sure yours was a little longer.
	Let's talk about your book momentarily, Putin's Playbook, but first let's set the ground rules.
	What What is Russia like in terms of its strategic culture?
	One of the greatest thinkers out there, Colin Gray, we lost him a couple of years ago, said every nation has a strategic culture, the lens through which it looks at the world.
	What is the easiest way to understand how different Russia is, whether it's Tsars, Soviet Union or today?
	That's an excellent question, actually, and this is something that not many experts, even in the intelligence community, understand, that various countries are driven by the strategic culture.
	Some Western experts believe that everybody is the same, and that is just simply not true, as you know.
	And it leads to bad intelligence.
	Exactly and that's why we are in the situation not only with regard to Russia but with regard to Afghanistan, Iraq and places like that all over the world because the so-called experts did not factor in the mindset and the strategic culture of the adversaries and opponents that they deal with.
	I've seen it myself when I was a defense department civilian the fact that even seasoned veterans of the intelligence community sometimes looked at other nations as if they were looking into a mirror and they thought well this is how it works in America so clearly that's how it's going to work in Macedonia or in Vanuatu and it's one of the biggest mistakes you can make.
	We're going to talk about the big mistakes in America's understanding of the Russian Federation with the author of Rebecca Koeffler, previously of the Defense Intelligence Agency.

	Rebecca, I want to know in the time we have left, what's essentially different about Russia and what do we need to know about Vlad?
	So, basically, Russia is driven by fear.
	Its strategic culture can be characterized as having a presupposition of conflict.
	It's always surrounded.
	Exactly.
	It's always encircled, surrounded.
	It always has viewed the United States as its principal threat.
	It even has codified it in its military doctrine, placing the requirement on the armed forces to develop a strategy and a weapons portfolio to counter the perceived threat.
	So Putin is absolutely no one who should be trusted.
	And how important is it that this man, who basically installed himself as a new emperor, is a former KGB colonel who served in East Germany?
	How important is that to understanding Russia?
	It is extremely important.
	You know this, you were inside the Pentagon, right?
	Reset relationships is just something that's absolutely unachievable.
	The idea that you can have normalized relations with Putin is crazy.
	It is absolutely crazy and it's a shame that our national security apparatus does not have this basic understanding and keeps pushing this wishful thinking policy of resets that is absolutely unrealistic.
	Putin will never be America's friend.
	Russia will never be America's friend.
	It has no friends.
	Now let's look at how big a threat it is, because I want our listeners to be clear.
	It's a problem, but it's not the Soviet Union.
	It's a nuclear power, but it's not the Soviet Union.
	It has 11 or 12 time zones, but it's not the Soviet Union.
	I taught my military students that the way to understand Russia is it's an anti-status quo actor.
	It's always trying to cause trouble to its own benefit.
	The idea that it wishes to collaborate with anybody for the common good is just a fantasy, is it not?
	Absolutely.
	So you're absolutely correct that they have redefined the definition of victory.
	Victory for them means denying us the opportunity to achieve our goals.
	But you've mentioned the Soviet Union.
	Most people would be surprised to learn that Russia's current doctrine is even more dangerous than the Cold War doctrine.
	Explain why.
	Yes, absolutely.
	During the Cold War, Russia relied on nuclear weapons as its primary deterrent, but it was mostly a psychological weapon.
	It was never used.
	Yes, they did have plans to use it, but they never actually viewed it as it.
	...at it to actually conduct a bolt out of the blue strike.
	Right now, they plan to conduct a limited nuclear war.
	If they feel overwhelmed conventionally, and they believe that the United States has superior conventional capability, they plan to use non-strategic, i.e.
	tactical weapons So if they deem to be in a losing match in terms of conventional weapons, they have justified for themselves a preemptive nuclear attack at a tactical level to redress the balance.
	Absolutely!
	They view it as an equalizer and this is precisely why President Trump has given authority to our forces, to our plan to develop a low-yield nuclear capability that all the liberals decried.
	And one more issue why the Russian doctrine is even more dangerous.
	It's because in addition to nuclear weapons, it has developed what's called the non-kinetic weapons, cyber, space counter space, all kinds of other types, underwater drones, you know, indirect means of attack.
	Exactly!
	They even have the same, you nailed it, so they even have the strategy that's called strategy of indirect action, which means you need to fight the war to destabilize the enemy without giving the enemy the ability to address, to respond militarily.
	They fight the conflict below the threshold of a kinetic conflict, but If this threshold is crossed, intentionally or unintentionally, they are planning to up the ante and go kinetically, conventional, all the way to the nuclear escalation.
	It's classic Sun Tzu trying to win without fighting.
	We're talking to the author of the latest book on the KGB colonel who became the neo-emperor of Russia, Putin's playbook.

	Is it their involvement in the Kuril Islands, Ukraine, in the Middle East, in Syria?

	So, to be honest with you, we're not paying proper attention with quality resources across the board, but particularly to their doctrine and strategy.
	We're pretty good at tracking their military capability.
	I call it the bright and shiny object.
	You know exactly like... The balance, the military balance.

	You know what goes into the PDB, right?
	The presidential brief.
	The oopty-doo intelligence.
	The stuff that's easy to count.
	Exactly.
	You nailed it, right?
	So the bean counters want to make sure that you produce that type of intelligence.
	In the meantime, how actually the adversary fights, i.e.
	doctrinal strategy, falls through the cracks.
	It's crazy.
	I saw this when I was a professor in the Defense Department.
	We were fighting Al-Qaeda.
	We were fighting ISIS.
	And I had to write the first syllabus on the doctrine of Al-Qaeda.
	Because they're not shy.
	They publish it.
	You can read it if you want to understand how to defeat the enemy.
	You have to read what they write first and it looks like we're doing it again with Russia.

	God willing, Donald Trump will imminently announce his decision to run again and he will be the second president to serve two non-consecutive terms.
	He will be the commander-in-chief again as the 47th president.
	Should that happen, God willing, what is the most important thing he should do in terms of Russia policy or signaling to Vladimir Putin?
	The, uh, the old sheriff is back in town.
	So, interestingly, President Trump pursued a very strong, very forceful policy towards Russia.
	Despite all the myths and conspiracy theories, he's the one who actually, as we talked earlier, enabled our low-yield nuclear weapons development.
	He's the one who authorized the killing of 300 Russian mercenaries fighting in Syria to undermine us.
	An act which had never been done before.
	Exactly.
	He is the one who placed sanctions on Nord Stream and he's the one who ensured that American energy sector was the top producing sector in the world.
	President Biden has taken away the sanctions, and you gotta understand, you know this, that Russian entire economy, including their defense economics, hinges on their ability to produce and sell oil, right?
	So what President Trump should do is continue his forceful policy, but also dismantle what President Biden has done in terms of nuclear arms control, because it places us into disadvantage.
	Because there's a whole range of weapons that are not accountable to New START.
	And so we are not going to be able to respond forcefully to Russia in a conflict if the Russians continue producing their weapons and we are hamstrung by those treaties.
	I'm going to smuggle in one last question in 30 seconds.
	I cut my teeth back in the 90s on NATO policy.
	Is NATO up to the task of preventing Russia from expanding its territory?
	I have serious concerns, actually, about NATO and NATO's ability right now to counter Russia, because NATO is split.
	There's old NATO, so to speak, or old Europe and new Europe, and the Russians understand that, and they continue to drive a wedge in NATO.
	So we need to really fortify NATO.
	Merkel's chancellorship.
	Germany is getting back into bed with Russia.
	Not good.
