	Matt Gates did step aside, withdrew his name from consideration to be attorney general.
	So what were your thoughts on that?
	On him leaving?
	I bet that's not the last one.
	No, I don't think they'll all get through.
	Gates was surprising from the start that he would get, you know, that he was named.
	I think that was kind of a surprise, mainly because he just has a lot of enemies in Washington.
	A lot of people really don't like him.
	You know, they came out and they're like, well, the reason why is he's got four votes against him.
	They know that.
	From everything I've heard, he had way more than four votes against him.
	The four people that came out.
	I saw 30.
	Republicans.
	Republicans.
	30 Republicans were going to vote against him.
	The names you may have heard are the names who want responsibility for it.
	There's a lot of Republicans who were saying they were going to vote against him, but didn't want to piss Trump off and didn't want to be known as the guy opposing Gates.
	The ones whose name you heard, probably Susan Collins, Lisa Murakowski, Mitch McConnell, those names were names that they wanted to be in the press as the people who stopped Matt Gates.
	The other one was John Curtis, the new senator from Utah.
	Right.
	Replacing Romney.
	And was not a fan, apparently, of Gates.
	But I mean, that was pretty common in Washington.
	Now, that sometimes is a badge of honor, right?
	I mean, there's a lot of people who just don't like Matt Gates.
	And there's so much strangeness around his story and the backstory here when it comes to whether he was doing something with women.
	And it did seem like he had some periods in his life that were maybe not up to snuff as far as standards and moral standards go.
	That is at least the there's more than that is the accusation.
	And the accusation was like almost comical.
	They're charging him with sex trafficking.
	Now, I don't know.
	When I think sex trafficking, I think like Jeffrey Epstein.
	Yes.
	Right.
	Like that's the type of thing that pops into my mind.
	That's not a real flight across state lines with somebody who's underage.
	Right.
	You don't think of it that way.
	You don't think of it that way.
	And by the way, all, as far as I understand, all accusations are that he didn't know that she was underage, which is, you know, again, this is something you need to check and be thorough on.
	Okay.
	Boys and girls, this is a little tip for you and your life.
	Number one, if you have the question in your mind, don't do it.
	That's step one.
	Yeah.
	Okay.
	If they have the question in your mind and you decide you're going to skip step one, check very closely.
	Now, what's crazy about this is the reporting is that she had a fake ID, which is not a surprise, right?
	Okay.
	Because her friend, allegedly, who was another person who was supposedly sleeping around in these types of arrangements, was she even testified that he didn't know.
	Oh.
	This is some of the people who are who are saying, hey, I saw him have sex with this woman, a girl, I guess, at this stage in her life.
	She was 17.
	She was 17.
	However, he didn't know she was 17.
	So even the accusation is he didn't know.
	But the other part about it is she apparently had a fake ID.
	One of the stories is the ID came from Matt Gates' friend who is in prison right now for charges related to this, but actually had responsibility to issue driver's licenses from the state.
	Part of his job was to get, like, so it wasn't a fake ID and that it was a fake ID you got from the internet.
	It was an actual real Florida ID that said she was so maybe he did check.
	I mean, again, if you're close to the line, a good idea not to go forward.
	Yeah.
	That's just a tip.
	Yeah.
	You know, but I wasn't.
	But he wasn't married at the time.
	Yeah.
	Right.
	It just seems like what it seems like is the sex trafficking thing to me seems to be a complete stretch, right?
	Like you're looking to get him on.
	You're trying to make it look worse than it was.
	And it may have been very bad.
	I'm not saying it wasn't.
	But like sex trafficking, it wasn't running a prostitution ring.
	Yeah.
	You know, he seemed to potentially be involved in allegedly involved in purchases in this way.
	And I will say, like, I say purchases because they leaked the Venmo records of Matt Gates and they had this big, have you seen this, the chart they came up with?
	I don't think so.
	It's like, you know, it's the two guys, Gates and his buddy, who's now in prison and has admitted to all this and seemingly has a really crazy history of all sorts of craziness, like targeting political opponents with like false claims of pedophilia.
	So he has really crazy stuff, allegedly, all of this, of course.
	But he is in jail.
	He actually is in jail.
	So it's not, some of it's not alleged.
	And so they have all the payment lines from this to dozens of women.
	Most of the payments are from this guy who's in prison to the women.
	Some of the payments are from Gates to these women.
	Now, importantly, there is even in their chart, there is no direct payment line from Gates to the 17-year-old.
	There are payments from the other guy to the 17-year-old, but not from Gates.
	So that's kind of important.
	However, there are payments from Gates to women and also payments from the guy to the same woman.
	Now, perhaps, perhaps they both purchase furniture on Facebook Marketplace from the same woman.
	Okay?
	It could happen.
	It could happen.
	And over and over again, like, hey, you got another chair?
	Oh, hey, I was looking for a lamp.
	They both bought eight chairs from the same woman.
	Yes, that's possible.
	It is a possibility.
	You know, I think his thing, you know, I don't know what his defense is exactly.
	It seems like it's kind of tied up into that he quote-unquote dating some of these women.
	He was being generous and giving them money.
	Okay.
	It doesn't exactly explain why the other guy was also giving their money, but like he was, it's also seemingly they were tied into a whole different conspiracy related to Iran.
	I mean, it is, first of all, gonna be a great movie someday.
	Whatever the hell happened here is going to be a great movie.
	Because it is seemingly true that at the same time all of this was happening, there was like extortion going on against Gates and his dad, who was somehow tied into a plot to free a hostage in Iran.
	I mean, it is bizarre.
	And it does seem I've not even heard that part of this scandal.
	Yeah, because, well, you may have actually, Pat, and you may have forgotten about it because the day this report came out in the New York Times connecting Gates to this underaged girl and this investigation going on, Gates went on Tucker Carlson.
	And he basically came out with this whole scheme of how his dad was being extorted for $25 million.
	And it seemed difficult to believe.
	It looked like to me, honestly, watching it, it seemed like Tucker Carlson didn't really believe it.
	I don't know that.
	I didn't hear that from Tucker, but it just didn't look like he bought it at the time.
	But a lot of it came out to be that it was actually true that this strangely, like this, the news of this investigation was leaked to the media having some bizarre tie to this other separate potential operation to free a hostage.
	All I know is: here's my thing, Pat.
	Just backing up, because we're in the weeds a little bit on this one.
	If somebody's got that going on in their life, you might feel real.
	Let's say everything Gates says is true.
	He just was dating a young girl, giving her a bunch of money for random travel expenses, and had no idea she was 17.
	Apparently, he thought she was, I don't know, 18.
	I don't know how much better that makes it, honestly, but let's just go along with us for a moment.
	And then it comes out that there's an investigation going on with him, and it may be tied to some plot to extort his dad.
	Okay.
	All of this, everything Matt Gates says, one of his best buddies is in jail now doing sleazy things.
	Right.
	Maybe you don't nominate the guy.
	Maybe the best outcome is he's not your attorney general.
	Yeah.
	You know, and I think like I can understand at some level, if I'm Donald Trump, to say, I want the biggest bulldog of bulldogs that will not blow me off, will not undercut me, who will be a one-minded, single-minded machine to take down the deep state, right?
	Like, I can see that coming out of Donald Trump's head and his mouth.
	Yeah.
	That being said.
	Yeah.
	You know, Pam Bondi's probably going to do most of that stuff too.
	And she, you know, she knows what she wasn't doing was hooking up with 17-year-olds.
	I mean, maybe Matt Gates wasn't true.
	It's true.
	I mean, it is Florida.
	She's from Florida.
	I love you Florida.
	I love you, Florida.
	But, you know, a lot of those stories do seem to come from Florida.
	Anyway, no, but Pam Bondi's probably going to do a great job doing that too.
	She's going to be really loyal to Donald Trump.
	She doesn't have any of the weirdness that I know of, at least, surrounding her that he did.
	He doesn't have all the enemies in Washington.
	It just like, at the end of the day, I think this is going to serve Donald Trump better than Gates would, even if he did get through the nomination process.
	It's not like Pam Bondi is going to be like, oh, well, I don't want to get mixed up in going after the deep state.
	Like, that's not going to, she's going to be, I think, pretty strong in that realm.
	I would think so, yeah.
	I would think so.
	Yeah.
	I don't know that it was the best choice to nominate him in the first place.
	Yeah.
	However, at the end of the day, I think it's going to serve him best that he doesn't have to deal with it.
	He doesn't want to go down this road.
	And probably, you know, Gates, too, to be honest.
	Yeah.
	You know, when you have stuff that's questionable in your personal life, the more you escalate attention on yourself, the worse it's going to get.
	And I think like my guess is he can bring in Matt Gates as a White House counsel or something that doesn't need to go through confirmation, still get all of his input, still get all of his, you know, everything you get out of him in another role.
	He can help advise Pam Bondi, and he doesn't have to go through that confirmation process, which would not be positive.
	And what has Glenn said for decades?
	You know, get all this stuff out and just admit to it, and then it can't hurt you in the long run.
	So maybe it's a good thing that all of this stuff is coming out about Matt Gates, then we can deal with it and move on.
	You know, and then he can do whatever it is he wants to do in the future.
	Yeah.
	And I don't, it's so shady, Pat.
	I really don't know what happened.
	And it might be very much like, it might be, I mean, the most innocent explanation for it isn't particularly innocent in that like it's still, you know, probably behavior a congressman should not be involved in.
	You know, like you, you want to keep your sex life as under control as possible.
	We have noted, Pat, in the past that Washington politicians don't do that all that well.
	And Matt Gates is far from alone in promiscuous behavior, if you will.
	Now, if it's illegal behavior, it's another story, of course.
	But if it's him being, you know, like, you know, there's the other congressman, you know, Senator Mullen who had famously kind of come out on TV and said, yeah, he was showing us videos of the girls he was hooking up with on the floor of the house.
	I don't know if that's true.
	Who knows, right?
	Who knows?
	But there was a lot of smoke around that one.
	And who knows?
	It might just be that, look, he had a point in his life where he did a lot of stuff.
	He would not be alone in making bad decisions in his younger years.
	And that's all it is.
	Very true.
	But at the end of the day, Trump doesn't need that.
	He doesn't need that heat.
	He doesn't need to make this any more difficult than it's going to be.
	It's going to be hard.
	Taking on the CIA and the FBI and everything else Donald Trump wants to take on is going to be hard enough.

	And Gates was willing to play that role.

	I heard that theory.
	I also heard that he was playing, that Trump was maybe playing 4D chess to get Gates out of the Congress.
	I don't know that I buy necessarily either of them.
	I'm more skeptical on that one because he could have just named him White House counsel or something that didn't need confirmation.

	And that same thing, all this could have played out the same way.
	So that part doesn't make much sense to me.
	Plus, they had to know.
	They know Washington.
	Donald Trump was president of the United States.
	Yeah, it's not a surprise.
	There's zero chance this report wasn't coming out.
	I just wonder who's next.
	Is he going to be able to get Pete Hegseth through now?
	They're coming after Hegseth.

	He even said he noticed it before she left the room.

	So I don't know on that one.

	You know, unless between this, though, and the Fox News thing, it's going to be a tough one.
	That's going to be a tough ride.
	You know, again, I don't, the fact that he's has done the whole Fox News thing is something we should talk about, Pat, maybe more in depth.
	Because that is what the media keeps latching onto with all of these people.
	You know, everybody from Pete Hegseth to Sean Duffy, the transportation secretary, you know, it's some, not exactly Fox News, but Dr. Oz was also named to a position.
	Look, there quite obviously is a priority for Donald Trump to name people with media expertise in these roles.
	Communication, messaging, important to Donald Trump.
	This is not some new thing.
	This is not some shocking development that he cares about messaging to the American people.
	And he wants people who can convey those messages.
	That's not a surprise.
	I mean, you can have a lot of really boring lawyer types that are behind the scenes doing a lot of the work, but those top positions are not just positions of governing.
	They are positions of messaging.
	Like, you have, like, you have to have someone who can tell these stories.
	You know, even the guy at the borders are, Holman, like, he's a guy who can go out there and say, well, yeah, we just deport the families together.
	And he can say it with confidence.
	So great.
	He's not going to try to worm out of what the policy is.
	He's going to come out there and say what he actually believes.
	That's important to Donald Trump.
	It should be important.

	And then the next person they bring up, they're just going to say, okay, that's fine.

	So it's a strategic move nominating Gates in the first place.

	And this is basically what Maggie Haberman reported.
	And Haberman is a left-wing journalist on the New York Times, no friend of Trump, but also well-sourced with Trump.
	Trump likes talking to her for some reason.
	He's one of these, you know, there's a lot of people Trump likes talking to in the media.
	And Haberman has been on and off one of those people.
	She does seem to be well sourced within.
	That is basically what she said.
	Jonathan Swan's another one who said the same thing.
	Again, another guy who's pretty well sourced in the administration said basically like he knew, I mean, he wanted Gates.
	He wanted Gates.
	It's not like it was a fake thing.
	But he knew it was going to be.
	He knew it was going to be hard.
	A rough ride.
	And he knew there was a good chance it wasn't going to work.
	And he thought the upside at the other end was that people would look at Pam Bondi and be like, oh, gosh, she's much more easily confirmed.
	I mean, she was an attorney general of a state.
	Right.
	You know, Matt Nazi.
	So she's got experience in that job.
	Right.
	But it's interesting how some of the leftist media is responding to Pam Bondi.
	Here's what MSNBC had to say about Pam Bondi.
	Pam Bondi is exactly what I was saying in the last segment that we should all fear because she's competent.
	We may not agree with her ideologically, but she actually knows how to do this job.
	So if anyone on the Democratic side or anyone who cared about liberty or justice was thinking, well, maybe Matt Gates will screw this up and that'll give us some time.
	No, Pam Bondi knows what she's doing.
	She knows what she's doing about immigration.
	Remember, Florida is one of those states that's been very aggressive about migrants and deportation and moving people to different states and everything else like that.
	Florida has enacted all sorts of rules and laws to curtail students and what they can do on campuses and finding legal justifications for manipulating education money.
	She is a dangerous and effective pick.
	And that's, frankly, worse than what we would have got with Matt Gates, even with the deplorable moral background that he has.
	All right.
	This is how, I mean, this is what they did when DeSantis looked like he might run for president.
	And this is before Trump was even really talked about again.
	And they always said, oh, DeSantis will be even worse than Trump.
	No matter who the new person is, they're always worse than the old person.
	That's the rule on MSNBC.
	And look, you know, I can see this at some level being actually accurate in this case in that like Gates probably provides a lot of distractions and he might have issues when it comes to that that could distract from his actual goal.
	Now, he can come in and do all the same things he was going to do as White House counsel or some other role.
	So it's not like he can't be effective and can't do the things that would be helpful to the Trump administration, but Bondi will probably be able to shield a lot of those concerns.
	And she will, and as was noted, she was the Attorney General of a big state already.
	She's gone down this road, knows this gig well.
	She's been very loyal to Donald Trump throughout the years, even in some of the really tough times.
	It seems like a pick that will serve Donald Trump better.
	Yeah, and I love the fact that MSNBC is already afraid of her.
	That's perfect.
	Fantastic.
	Some of Trump's other nominees so far, I know you love this one.
	HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
	You love that pick.
	I'm a huge RFK Jr. fan, as you know.
	Huge fan.
	Big fan of him.
	You know, look, could RFK Jr. give some good input into the administration?
	Like, you want to set him loose on going in with a surgical knife and cutting out every vaccine mandate known to man?
	I'm completely fine with that.
	Do I want him as the HHS secretary and in control of one-third of her budget?
	Not really.
	Not really.
	I don't think that's a good move.
	You know, he's one, again, I think he did.
	I understand wanting to reward what he did in the campaign.
	Yeah.
	And like we can talk about because he came out, he stopped and he endorsed Trump.
	Right.
	It was a big move.
	That's huge to Donald Trump.
	Almost went the other way, right?
	He called Kamala Harris for the same arrangement with Kamala Harris, and Harris didn't return his calls.
	Right.
	Trump did in a very, very intelligent move.
	When you are in a race that is as close as it was, and I think some people look back at the race and are like, oh, it wasn't really that close.
	He won all seven swing states.
	Well, sure, he won all seven swing states.
	He needed to win one of the blue wall states.
	The biggest margin he had in any one of those states was two points.
	This is a close election.
	And, you know, it's was RFK Jr. the factor?
	No.
	I don't think so.
	But like, because he didn't win Pennsylvania by enough votes that I think I would be, I think it probably didn't make a difference.
	But I mean, it was two points.
	I don't know.
	Maybe it did.
	It's not hurt him.
	Yeah.
	And I don't think, if any, I think it did help him.
	Yeah.
	And I can understand wanting to give him a role.
	And look, you know, RFK Jr. wanted to become president of the United States largely to run at the HHS.
	Like, that's the thing that really motivates him.
	Yeah.
	I just don't know.
	That's a big job to give him.
	I've been a little confused about the RFK Jr. thing from the beginning because conservatives were so willing to embrace this guy.
	Even before the Donald Trump stuff, even before he got out of the race, people were thinking about voting for him as conservatives.
	And I was saying back then, this guy is not conservative.
	Don't be fooled by the couple of policies he's turned around on.
	He's still a pretty hardcore liberal progressive guy.
	And yeah, he's a little bit better on immigration, for instance.
	He's a little bit better on, he's certainly better on mandates for vaccines.
	Sure.
	I mean, we can agree on a couple of things, but the guy's still radical.
	Yeah.
	He's a radical environmentalist, for one thing.
	Right.
	And like, I think, you know, the way I look at this, him at HHS and where my concern level is, and it's not because I think he's going to come in and like there was this, there's a movement on the left that wants the HHS to designate global warming as a as a healthcare emergency, right?
	So they can implement all sorts of policies related to that.
	Do I think RFK Jr. wants to do that?
	Yes.
	Do I think there's any chance he does it under a Trump administration?
	No.
	There's no way Donald Trump is going to allow that to occur.
	However, there are thousands of jobs that RFK Jr. in this role will be responsible for filling.
	Is he going to pick a lot of global warming skeptics to fill those jobs?
	No.
	Is he going to be a person who's going to select employees that are animals to go in and root out public funding for abortion?
	No.
	No.
	He is a pro-choice guy.
	He's a guy that has at many points in his life talked about.
	Pro-choice up to birth.
	Up to birth, right?
	Now, that doesn't, is he going to make it so that every state, is he going to somehow pass a policy?
	You know, abortion is health care, Pat.
	Is he going to pass some wide-ranging policy that forces Texas to have abortions at 35 weeks?
	No.
	No.
	He's not going to.
	And he is incapable of doing that anyway in that role.
	But Donald Trump would stop that every step of the way.
	But is he going to find a person who is going to eliminate the regulations that Joe Biden put in on abortion?
	Is he going to be searching for all those?
	I don't think so.
	No.
	I don't think so.
	No.
	And now maybe Donald Trump can surround him with enough people who are like that to alleviate those issues.
	But I am definitely concerned about that.
	And not to mention, like, you know, I have all sorts of concerns of.
	That's valid.
	I think your concern is valid.
	I think it is.
	Yeah.
	That doesn't mean that Trump can't come up with a way to get rid of those concerns, but it is a full-time job for him.
	And I don't know that he needs another full-time job like that.
	I think a better approach would be somebody who was a conservative, okay, that would have many of the same views as RFK Jr. on some of these big issues, but putting RFK Jr. in some sort of consulting role where he's going after specific things that you can monitor a lot more easily than something that's this wide-ranging.
	I mean, this is it makes it does.
	That one makes me more nervous than honestly Gates or any of the others.
	Like, because this is not, this is not a guy like, even like someone like Tulsi Gabbard, who had a pretty long conversion in the public view on many issues.
	That's not RFK Jr.
	He was running against Donald Trump for president three months ago.
	Yeah.
	And calling him all sorts of, a lot of the same things you'd hear on MSNBC.
	He was calling Donald Trump right then.
	This is not JD Vance in 2016 saying it.
	He was saying it in 2024.
	And we'll get into a few of these other nominees coming up in just a minute.

	Of Donald Trump.

	And her efforts to keep him out of the White House so he wouldn't collude with Russia again.

	And of course, I know you are as well, Pat.

	You know, she caught all sorts of stuff.
	Now, a lot of it wound up being proved completely incorrect later on, but she didn't care about that.
	And she pushed through all those concerns about facts, truth.
	You know, it's easy to go on TV every day and say things that are accurate.
	You know, that's easy.
	What's hard is to keep your job while you're spewing lies.
	That is difficult.
	That's hard.
	I've heard that said that's difficult.
	Yeah.
	And she, but she pushed through all of that.
	And she's like the favorite.
	She is, you know, it's so interesting.
	I did it.
	We did an interview with David Harsani, the author.
	He's got a new book out called Rise of Blu Anon.
	And instead of QAnon, it's Bluenon.
	And it's basically, hey, have you noticed that the left has got a lot of conspiracy theories?
	I keep hearing them about the right, but what about the left?
	Seems like this is a central part of their ideology these days.
	And unlike the conspiracy theories on the right, these are people who are like central, first of all, have massive profiles in mainstream media.
	People like On the View, Rachel Maddow anchored election night on MSNBC.
	Yeah.
	This is not like some side character.
	She's like the central media figure on the left.
	Yeah.
	And she's MSNBC's big host.
	Yeah.
	I mean, she's the one.
	I think she works once a week, right?
	Yes.
	And for that one appearance per week, she makes 30 million a year.
	And this 30 million a year.
	$30 million a year.
	Uh-huh.
	And this, Pat, is where the sacrifice kicks in.
	MSNBC's had some problems.
	I've heard.
	You know, they've got their hosts in the morning running off to beg Donald Trump for forgiveness.
	Right.
	Kissing the ring every step of the way, begging Uncle Donnie to be nice to them.
	Can we be friends again, please?
	Remember, like we were friends before.
	Remember that?
	Remember you invited us to parties at Mar-a-Lago?
	Can we invited us to, I mean, we invited you to our wedding.
	Remember that?
	Yeah, that was adorable.
	Yeah.
	And then they had to kind of trot down to Mar-a-Lago to beg for his forgiveness.
	MSNBC's ratings way down 60, 70%, 80%.
	They're being spun off.
	They're being spun off into a separate company because they're such a disaster.
	And this has forced MSNBC's Rachel Maddow to take a pay cut from $30 million for her once-a-week show to $25 million for a once-a-week show.
	Oh, my.
	This sort of sacrifice for our nation will always be inspiring.
	I mean, I got to say, part of me just admires her for this.
	I like the fact that she's conned these people into a $30 million contract for one day a week.
	And now she's being praised for her utter sacrifice for $25 million for one day a week.
	Oh, my God.
	At some level, you just admire it.
	Yeah.
	Yeah, if you can get away with that, I mean, of course you're going to.
	Yes.
	So she's, I mean, this is a save her job kind of move, right?
	Because being spun off like this, they're probably not going to pay exorbitant salaries that they are paying right now.
	I mean, $30 million for her and one day a week, I mean, $30 for her is exorbitant.
	Jeez.
	I'd agree.
	I'd agree with that.
	So that's a lot of money.
	Now, look, her ratings compared to the rest of the network are strong.
	Yeah.
	And that's how you justify this.
	Right.
	And, like, you know, like when we go back to, you know, Glenn Beck was on CNN Headline News, and he more than tripled the ratings of his time slot there.
	That doesn't mean a lot of people were watching in comparison to, like, for example, the audience he wound up getting on Fox, right?
	But because he was doing really well for CNN Headline News, they very desperately wanted him to stay at CNN Headline News.
	He wound up going to Fox at that time.
	But like, you know, it's okay.
	I mean, like, it's still impressive, right?
	If you're the best player on a bad team, that's still something.
	Like, you still get a contract for that.
	And so I don't deny that she has some value.
	But I mean, the fact that they, like, the one day a week thing is fascinating.
	This is going on all over the place.
	Jon Stewart, the same thing.
	Like, Jon Stewart comes in and he's doing one day a week.
	And like, as someone who hosts a show multiple days a week, you may know not only here on the radio show, but also Studios America, Pat, you do Pat Gray Unleashed.
	Like it's the idea of working one day a week instead of five, like, kind of sounds interesting.
	Like, I kind of get it.
	I get why you'd want to do it.
	And of course, this is happening with podcasts now, right?
	Like, a lot of hosts are doing, you know, their podcast only a couple of days a week.
	And so you can see how that would be a nicer lifestyle, especially if you can make the same amount of cash.
	But like, I'm, aren't you surprised that they're like, yeah, Rachel, come back and just do Mondays or whatever she's doing?
	Yeah.
	I, it's mind-boggling.
	It's mind-boggling.
	I mean, if she was number one.
	Right.
	Like, she was like beating Fox.
	Yeah.
	Then you could understand it.

	It almost hit it last night.

	Let me pull this up here.
	I was looking at it just a moment ago.
	It is really incredible.
	It is currently at 98,395 per coin.
	It hit $99,534.97 last night at like 1:30 in the morning.
	Incredible.
	So at any, you know, it could at any point, maybe during the show, hit 100,000 per coin.
	Did you ever think you'd see the day?
	No.
	I remember when, was it Tika Tawari that said it's going to hit 40,000?
	This was when it was, I don't know, 300 or 2,000 or I don't know, something.
	It was much, much lower.
	And he said it was going to go to 40,000 by the end of the year.
	I don't think it happened by the end of the year, but it happened later on.
	And now look at it.
	Yeah.
	Now look at it.
	Because I remember that first like quote-unquote bubble when everyone was going crazy about it.
	That first time it was 2017 and it hit 19,000 and change.
	And it seemed impossible.
	Like everyone was talking about it all the time.
	Now you look at the Bitcoin chart, you can barely see that little $19,000 bubble, quote-unquote bubble.
	And what's crazy about this is you had a situation where it, you know, it fell off of that 20,000, 19,000 level and came down.
	It was lower for a long time.
	In March 2020, you could have bought a Bitcoin for $3,000 and change.
	And it's now almost $100,000.
	And worse than that, when we first started talking about this, it was $300.
	Yeah.
	It was $300.
	I remember talking about it.
	And I was going to buy, I don't know, $10,000.
	Right.
	But if you, you know, kind of like a whim, maybe a risky upside play.
	If you throw a few thousand bucks in, no, no, but do you get 10 of them?
	Yeah.
	It'd be worth a million dollars right now.
	Glenn has told the story about talking to, because he's the worst offender on this, though he did buy pretty early.
	Wow.
	He's made a lot of money with this.
	I don't have any sympathy for that.
	I would have been a billionaire.
	Okay, but you're doing it.
	He's doing pretty well.
	Glenn did pretty well on the Bitcoin.
	There's no doubt about that.
	But he could have been zero Bitcoin.
	Oh, and I know you have.
	You know how I know that?
	I look at the chart and it keeps going up.
	Right.
	I know.
	And so now, now that it's $100,000, I'm thinking, geez, I need to buy a Bitcoin.
	I'm going to buy one Bitcoin.
	One.
	And if you do that, the price will go to zero.
	Yes, it will.
	Immediately.
	Immediately.
	It will wipe out the entire industry.
	In fact, before, and this is true, before I ever purchase any Bitcoin, the first step I do, people are like, well, what's the research you do to go into that?
	And there is a lot of research.
	Mainly, I go to Pat and see if he's purchased any, because if he has, I know it's going down.
	And I have really thought about this over and over.
	I'm like, gosh, I hope it's not so, because it almost feels like if it hits a certain point of hype, Pat might be like, you know, maybe I should get involved with this.
	And that's when you know it's over.
	Yeah.
	That's when you know it's like the next day someone's going to hack it or something.
	And that's why it's not possible.
	That's why I didn't buy at 300.
	That's why I didn't buy either 1,000 or 5,000 or 50,000.
	So do I finally buy at 100?
	I mean, crazy.
	So you do believe some people are saying it could go to a million or more.
	That's kind of moving me right now that people say, because I didn't believe it was going to go to 40.
	And now look at it.
	And so.
	Should I believe it when they say it might go to a million or 2 million?
	I've heard 3 million from some people.
	That's amazing.
	That would be something else.
	Well, here's the thing that I keep thinking of.
	And I have no idea where the price levels go.
	But what was true when I first started liking Bitcoin is way more true now.
	The issue is with Bitcoin is there can only be 21 million of them ever.
	Right.
	They can't inflate them like they can't print money.
	There's a total of 21 million.
	There can never be more.
	And as a conservative who looks at the government and looks at government spending, and I'm sure this is true with you as well.
	The inflationary cycle of the last couple of years was not a surprise.
	We knew this was coming eventually.
	There doesn't seem to be either side of the political debate that really has passion to cut budgets.
	Now, you might say, okay, well, the Elon Musk thing that's going on with Vivek Ramaswamy and Trump, like I have real high hopes for that and I'm optimistic on it.
	But like, you know, the real cause, the driver of this is not, you know, even government waste.
	It's, you know, it's these giant Medicare, Social Security, interest on the debt.
	These are things that like, there's not a lot of passion in Washington to cut on either side of the aisle, honestly.
	And so I don't know.
	All the principles that made it attractive in the first place are even more prevalent now.
	More prevalent now than they've ever been.
	Yeah.
	Not to mention, you have 21 million Bitcoin that is the maximum number.
	We know that it can ever come out.
	I think it's 20, but they'll all be here by, I think, the year is 2140.
	So we've got some time on that.
	But most of them are already out there in circulation in theory.
	We know that something like 25% of them are lost forever.
	Because at the beginning, you could get 1,000 Bitcoin in a day.
	It would be nothing.
	They cost nothing.
	If you were mining at the early years of this.
	What are they lost to?
	Just people not knowing their password to get back in and claim them?
	They weren't worth anything.
	People threw away their computers.
	They threw away their accounts.
	And they were under a dollar apiece.
	Yeah.
	Or whatever.
	And people were taking them and at the very early years were just like buying drugs online.
	Yeah, do you remember the pizza thing?
	Yeah, the pizza thing, yeah.
	500 Bitcoin for two Papa John's pizzas.
	We haven't done this calculation in a while.
	500 Bitcoin.
	I guess it's going to be relatively easy here.
	100,000 of Bitcoin.
	So $50 million for two pizzas.
	And they were Papa John's, by the way.
	Millions.
	It's not like that you imported Sally's or Peppys from New Haven.
	Yeah, you would have had to obviously do the right thing with it, and that's right out the waves.
	And by the way, the person who got them did not do that.
	He does not still have 500 Bitcoin.
	They are not worth $50 million.
	He's an investor like I am.
	I heard you and Glenn talking about the Clear Channel thing that we turned down.
	Oh, yeah, that's right.
	This is you too.
	Yeah.
	What was the deal?
	Can you tell people before?
	In lieu of $10,000, we were going to get $10,000 worth of Clear Channel stock.
	And we're like, no.
	Because at that time, Clear Channel stock was, I don't know, $3 or something.
	$5?
	Had a decent run after that.
	Oh, it had a fairly decent run.
	Yeah, because if we would have done that, it went up to 90 and split, and then it went back up to 90 and split again.
	And I think that happened three times.
	And our $10,000 investment would have been worth something like $3 million each.
	So, yeah, we're like, no, please.
	The cute little company from San Antonio.
	No, no way.
	Come on.
	Why would you do that?
	No.
	Everyone's got a story.
	Not interested.
	Not everyone has a story that crazy.
	Yeah.
	And certainly not many people like Glenn have multiple stories that are that crazy.
	But everyone's got that thing.
	Ah, gosh, I should have done that.
	I should have invested.
	And one of the things I come back to is, so there's 21 million Bitcoin that can be possibly ever made.
	We know about a quarter of them are lost.
	We think.
	We don't know exactly.
	In 2023, there were 22 million millionaires just in the United States.
	So if every just millionaire had one Bitcoin and wanted to get one Bitcoin, there wouldn't be enough for them to have one.
	Gosh, it's amazing.
	Right?
	That's amazing.
	That's just the millionaires in the U.S. Not like, I mean, think about the millionaires in China and India and all over the world.
	Just to have one Bitcoin, there's not enough to go around.
	Unreal.
	So what does that mean to the long-term price of this, especially now?
	Because what you have now is a situation where this is a multi-trillion dollar industry.
	This is like a $4 trillion industry.
	It's hard to imagine it going away.
	Can you think of an example of a $4 trillion industry going away?
	No.
	I can't think of it.
	I want the top of my head.
	What are we talking about?
	Gold, you're talking about oil.
	What is at this level, right?
	Like, you are talking about a massive, massive thing that a lot of people have put a lot of time into.
	$4 trillion industries don't just go away.
	They don't just usually go away.
	And so I don't know where this goes.
	It could, look, it could easily go.
	I guess you could say Enron, that wasn't a $4 trillion.
	No, I mean, it was the seventh largest company in the world at one point.
	Supposedly, but built on a bunch of house of cards.
	Yes, a little bit of a house of cards there.
	But yeah, it was a multi-billion dollar company.
	Yeah.
	Yeah.
	But not $4 trillion.
	No.
	And so you just wonder, like, long-term where this goes.
	This brings me to another thing, Pat.
	I'll get your take on this.
	Maybe you have what your guesses are on this.
	Because a new study came out.
	This is from Morning Console, a poll.
	They asked people across all different age groups: what salary do you have to make to be considered financially successful?
	The term is financially successful, not rich, but financially successful.
	How much money do you need to earn as a salary to get to that level?
	Now, I don't know.
	What would you say?
	Depends on where you live.
	Yeah, that's a good point.
	A good point.
	But again, this is an average, so you're going to be an average over the whole country.
	Okay.
	So, like, would you say, like, to me, if I were like, oh, that person's, they got it together.
	I'm not, not, they're not, they're not a private jet, but you know, they got a good life.
	I mean, I would define financially successful like you're taking maybe a nice vacation a year, you got a nice home, um, not necessarily second home, right?
	Like, you got one, you know, like you, but you, you can afford nice Christmas presents for your kids.
	Uh, you know, you live in a nice neighborhood, drive a decent car, like not a Ferrari, but maybe, you know, I don't know, a BMW, like maybe you're in a BMW three series.
	I don't know.
	What would you consider financially successful?
	How would you describe it?
	That certainly would be, I would say.
	It's a good life.
	$150,000 for that kind of life.
	$150,000?
	That sounds about right, right?
	Like, that sounds like a person who's doing well.
	They're going to be able to pay their bills.
	Yeah.
	Going to be able to do some nice things.
	Maybe they go, you know, they get decent seats to a concert a couple of times a year.
	Maybe go to a couple of sporting events, like living a decent life.
	So they asked people, what level do you have to get to to be financially successful?
	They asked the boomer generation, and their answer was $100,000.
	$100,000 a year.
	They asked Gen X. Their answer was $212,000 a year.
	Oh.
	Okay.
	So a little higher than your estimate.
	They asked millennials, how much do you need to earn to be financially successful?
	Millennials said $181,000 a year.
	So less than Gen X.
	A little less than Gen X, reasonable between the two other numbers.
	They asked Gen Z this question.
	Their answer was $587,800.
	That's what Gen Z thinks to be financially successful.
	Wow.
	$587,800.
	So what is the cause of that?
	By the way, the average across the country is $270,000 because of the high number on Gen Z. Wow.
	So what is the cause of that?

	And I, a couple of theories here.
	One, they just went through this inflationary period where everything costs so much, right?
	And like, they're like, holy crap, like, I can't afford anything.
	To them, you got to earn $580,000 to be successful.
	I think that might be part of it.
	The other part of it might just be like, the one I've seen this floated, is it's like social media.
	Like you're on Instagram all the time.
	Everybody you see is I got a yacht.
	And you know, you know, professional athletes make that, you know, millions.
	Yeah.
	Right.
	So maybe you're just kind of comparing yourself to that lifestyle.
	And your idea of financially successful is not the two, you know, the nice home with the picket fence and the BMW and a nice vacation, but it's you're living in a yacht and you've got dozens of models around you.
	You know, maybe that's it.
	And you see stuff like crypto, right?
	Yeah.
	Where people who are in their 20s put in a few thousand dollars, hit on some meme coin, and now are driving Lamborghinis around.
	And maybe your vision of the world's a little warped.
	Definitely.
	And I think for Gen Z, their vision of the world is a little warped.
	And not just in this, but in a lot of things.

	But that's a few years away, and right now we can all be happy and act like everything's going to go well for a while.
	But God, I will say she was actually technically qualified.
	She's old enough to run in 2024.
	But 2028, I think you're going to get real conversation for her as a nominee.

	I think she's the Bernie Sanders replacement.

	That doesn't mean she.
	At that point, she'd be 39, right?

	And then the fourth one, I'm for myself here, Pat, because I think we have broad agreement on those three.
