We want to talk to you about the controversial law in California that mandates landscapers and residents not to use gas-powered lawnmowers or leaf blowers.
At the end of 2024, there'll be no availability to purchase or procure these small off-road engines.
And so, lawnmowers, trimmers, weed eaters, what's going to happen is the existing equipment that's out there right now, you can continue to use it, but at the end of it, your only option now is electric.
Moving all that gas-powered equipment to electric is really going to devastate some businesses.
There's as much as 50,000 businesses in the state that use small off-road equipment to make a living.
Many of them who are immigrants will be having to transition to this equipment as well.
The cost to procure this equipment is going to be quite substantial.
When you say the cost is substantial, what is it?
An example of that would be a sit-down lawnmower.
These pieces of equipment cost about $3,000 to $4,000.
If you wanted to convert that piece of equipment to an electric, you're talking a new cost to that would be about $12,000. |
