| A lot of people say, why are you advocating for the property owner and the landlord so much? | |
| I see my parents. | |
| We lived in a very small house in Pacifica. | |
| Most people don't even know where Pacifica is. | |
| It's just south of San Francisco. | |
| My mother worked two jobs. | |
| She worked for Stanford University and then worked for retail. | |
| My dad worked full-time for FedEx and he worked as an auto mechanic. | |
| And then he somehow found time to do a pizza route where my brother and I would go pizza routes with him. | |
| And then around 3 or 4 a.m. | |
| in the morning, he was doing a paper route. | |
| They worked tirelessly for this property, to afford this property. | |
| And there was nothing special about that home. | |
| But I tell you what, they never told us how special it was and how important this concept of homeownership was. | |
| But they demonstrated it just by way of their work ethic. | |
| 80% of property owners of landlords in California are actually people, individuals, just like my parents. |
