| A lot of folks actually just don't get care, which is why we see so many dying on the street. | |
| One of the very first patients Once I met in LA, he was actually sleeping right outside of a big community hospital. | |
| He had an irregular heartbeat that was giving him strokes, and he had at least seven strokes that he knew about. | |
| The outreach workers were trying to get him to see his assigned doctor so that he could get into a nursing home. | |
| After a few months, they finally got him in, and the doctor said, I don't know this person. | |
| I need to request their medical records. | |
| The person got very upset because he's been living on the street this whole time. | |
| It took all these months. | |
| Now he has to wait even longer. | |
| to certify that he has a disability and so he never went back. | |
| There are people suffering on the streets with these illnesses and the system doesn't understand because they're not out there. |
