Mike Lindell’s FBI Phone Seizure Warrant Reveals Why DOJ Is Investigating Him
| Copy link to current segment

Time Text
This right here is Mr.
Mike Lindell, the founder and CEO of MyPillow.
And if he looks familiar to you, that's likely because sometime within the last decade, you've been up late at night watching television and one of his infomercials sadly popped up.
Or if you follow the aftermath of the 2020 election, you might have also gotten to know Mr.
Lindell as well, since he became a top advisor to President Trump and often spoke alongside him at different public rallies.
However, more recently, Mr.
Lindell has found himself in the crosshairs of the FBI. That's because last week, while he was going through a fast food drive-thru window over in Minnesota, Mike Lindell was suddenly raided by FBI agents who, among other things, seized his personal cell phone.
And in terms of how this seizure actually played itself out, well, on his live stream show, which is called the Lindell Report, Mike described how he and his travel buddy pulled into a drive-thru window at the Hardee's fast food joint in Minnesota after completing a duck hunting trip.
That was when, all of a sudden, another car pulled up perpendicularly in front of Lindell's car and cut him off.
Mike allegedly turned to his friend and said this, quote, I've been around the block, and I said to my buddy, I said, that's either a bad guy or it's FBI. I said, that's straight up.
I said, it's either FBI or it's a bad guy.
Not to say that some FBI guys can be bad guys, right?
Then, right afterwards, Mr.
Lindell explained how a second car pulled up alongside his car We're good to go.
His airplane traveled throughout the entire country, as well as about Ms.
Tina Peters, who is a county clerk over in Mesa County, Colorado.
And the reason that Ms.
Tina Peters is relevant to the story is because she's part of an investigation related to a security breach of her office's election equipment, charges that she has actually pled not guilty to.
And so, after questioning him for about 25 to 30 minutes, the FBI agents then ordered Mr.
Lindell to hand over his personal cell phone, which he wound up doing.
He mentioned on his program that based on recent FBI raids of other people, he believed that the FBI agents would have just taken his phone by force if he didn't hand it over.
Furthermore, Mr.
Lindell also mentioned that the FBI did not allow him to back up the content on his phone prior to handing it over.
Despite the fact that he told the FBI agents that he uses his phone to run five separate companies.
Now, the big question here is obviously why.
Why did the FBI conduct this on-site raid and seize Mr.
Lindell's cell phone?
And fortunately for us, we don't have to guess.
That's because Mike Lindell's lawyers, well, they have just released the search warrant that the FBI used to justify the seizure.
And it shows that the FBI agents took Mr.
Lindell's phone as a part of their investigation into whether or not he may have violated several federal statutes.
All related to something that took place over in the state of Colorado.
Specifically, this warrant reveals that this entire investigation stems from an alleged breach of election equipment that happened last year in Mesa County, Colorado.
In that particular breach, data from the county's voting machines was allegedly copied and shared online.
Now in terms of who was actually responsible for this particular data breach, as we mentioned earlier, state prosecutors have indicted Ms.
Tina Peters, the Mesa County election clerk.
Although it is worth highlighting that Ms.
Tina Peters has pled not guilty, meaning that whether she was actually responsible or not has yet to be determined.
Furthermore, getting back to Mr.
Lindell, according to the warrant, he is listed as one of seven different subjects of interest in the federal government investigation.
And regarding this particular case, the search warrant further goes on to explain that the FBI investigators seized Mr.
Lindell's phone in order to look for any evidence of violations of three different federal statutes.
Concerning identity theft, intentional damage to a protected computer, Although what's really worth noting here is that this warrant explicitly does not state whether Mr.
Lindell is himself a direct target of this investigation, nor does it present any evidence to suggest that he violated federal law himself.
Instead, it could very well be the case that the FBI only assumed that his phone might have had some evidence regarding those other individuals, and they used it to, well, find dirt on them.
For your reference, to this very day, despite having his cell phone seized, Mr.
Lindell has not faced any charges in this particular probe.
And instead, he has gone on the offensive.
That's because just two days ago, Mike Lindell filed a lawsuit against both the FBI as well as the Department of Justice as a whole, claiming that the seizure of a cell phone constituted a gross violation of his First, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendment rights.
Specifically...
Mike Lindell's lawyers are asking that for one, his phone and any data that was accessed be returned immediately.
Secondly, that the FBI and the Department of Justice be prohibited from accessing any data that they already collected from the device.
And thirdly, that both the FBI as well as the Department of Justice be prohibited from releasing any information that was on his phone to either the media or any other party.
Here's part of what their lawsuit states.
Quote, We're good to go.
Now, it's worth mentioning that this drama that's playing out with Mr.
Lindell is only a subset of a broader scenario playing out across the entire country.
And it might very well be the case that FBI agents might be suddenly swarming people and taking their cell phones in a neighborhood near you.
That's because, outside of just Mr.
Lindell, it's also been confirmed that the Department of Justice has recently ramped up their investigations into President Trump's associates by having issued more than 40 subpoenas over the last week, including seizing the cell phones of at least two top Trump advisors.
Now, a publication called Red State obtains some of these subpoenas that are being issued by the DOJ. You can see them up on screen for yourself.
And some of the contents within these subpoenas are, you can say, alarming.
Such as the fact that the FBI is forcing people to hand over their communications in which they express, quote,"...any claim that the vice president and or the president of the Senate had the authority to reject or choose not to count presidential electors." Now, to be frank, it's completely irrelevant whether Mike Pence had the above-mentioned authority or not.
The First Amendment, it ensures that Americans like you and me are allowed to hold opinions and we're allowed to discuss those opinions, even if those opinions are factually inaccurate.
And so, to think that the Department of Justice could base their investigation on something that is clearly under the bounds of free speech is, again, alarming to say the least.
And perhaps it now has a lot of people looking both ways before they enter a fast-food drive-thru window.
Regardless, if you'd like to read either the subpoena that was issued on Red State or any of the documents related to Mr.
