Florida Forms New Civilian Military Force That Reports to Governor DeSantis | Facts Matter
| Copy link to current segment

Time Text
Good evening, and a quick reminder that today is the 80th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
God bless all the American heroes of World War II who stood up to actual fascism, as well as Japanese imperialism.
Now to start with, as vaccine mandates are beginning to get rolled out to all of the National Guard troops throughout the entire nation, some states are fighting back.
For instance, the state of Oklahoma, they have filed a lawsuit against the Department of Defense.
However, the state of Florida, they are taking a slightly different approach.
That's because just five days ago, Governor Ron DeSantis, he announced that he is going to revive the Florida State Guard, which is separate from the National Guard and reports only to the governor.
Let's go through it all together.
This is your daily Facts Matter update, and I'm your host, Roman, from the Epoch Times.
And now let's start today's discussion by talking a bit about yesterday's episode.
Now, last night, as usual, at about 8 p.m.
Eastern Time, we published a new episode of Facts Matter.
And that episode, in my opinion, it was pretty good.
We discussed how Nevada is financially penalizing unvaccinated workers, how a cruise liner had a COVID outbreak among their fully vaccinated passengers, How the city of New York is implementing a blanket vaccine mandate on private businesses, as well as how the state of California has instituted new laws that require people to hire minorities instead of straight white men.
It was a pretty good episode, and I'm not just saying that for my own opinion, by the way, the metrics showed that as well.
The episode was getting about 50% more views than average.
People were watching it longer as well.
They obviously liked the content.
And so, I was pretty surprised that at about 11pm at night, when I was wrapping up the day and just getting things ready for the next day, I all of a sudden started getting messages from our subscribers who were saying that they could no longer access the episode.
They were sending me screenshots like this one here that show that YouTube was showing them that the episode was removed because it was too late.
And so, I quickly logged into my computer, I looked on the back end, and indeed, that was the case.
Our episode was removed.
The official reason was that the episode was too long.
Our 21-minute episode was too long for YouTube, and therefore, they required me to go in, verify my account with my phone number, something that I had already done on many different occasions, and then only after I verified my account, well, the episode was still disabled.
I actually had to re-upload it in order for anybody to be able to see it.
That's what I did.
I re-uploaded it this morning.
But notice something.
When you actually go into the back end, all of the episodes around the one from yesterday, you have many of them being of similar lengths.
You have one 16 minutes, 22 minutes, 19 minutes, 18 minutes, and they were all fine.
Only yesterday's episode, which is actually shorter than some of the other episodes, was taken down.
Now, the big question is whether this was a case that the episode was getting too much traction and therefore a technicality was used to reduce its reach.
Well, who knows whether that's the case or not.
That's the beauty of these types of systems, we can only guess.
Although I will say that after I re-uploaded the episode, take a look.
It's only performing average now, meaning that less people are seeing it.
It's funny how that works.
Anyway, you know if you've been watching this show for a while now that I pitch Epic TV a lot.
And of course, Epic TV, in case you're not aware, is our no-censorship video platform.
However, it really is cases like these that bring the point exactly home why platforms like Epic TV are so important.
Because think about it.
If a platform like YouTube can just arbitrarily use a technicality like the video being too long to remove content that is factual, but maybe doesn't fall in line with a certain narrative...
Well then, think about it.
What content can't they remove?
But, my videos will always be available over on Epic TV, alongside a host of other great programs that dare to discuss the truth of what is happening in this world right now.
And so, I hope you go on over to Epic TV and check it out.
The link will be right there at the very top of the description box.
And also, I hope you check out yesterday's episode I re-uploaded.
Well, it's always on Epic TV. Never been touched there.
But I also re-uploaded it here on this YouTube channel as well.
I hope you check it out.
And now, since we're on the topic of censorship, let's move on over to Twitter.
Five days ago, the American Heart Association published a certain study abstract on their official website.
And that study, it expressed concerns regarding an elevated risk of heart disease resulting from mRNA vaccines.
And so, as usual with these types of things, people posted the link to that study on their Twitter accounts so their friends, family, and colleagues could go on over to the American Heart Association website and read the study for themselves.
However, many people did not click on the link to that particular study.
Why?
Because Twitter, they slapped an unsafe label on that post.
Let me just repeat that.
Twitter, the big company, the big platform, they slapped an unsafe label on a post from the official American Heart Association website.
Meaning that when you click on the link, you are shown this page here, which says warning.
This link may be unsafe.
The link you are trying to access has been identified by Twitter or our partners as being potentially spammy or unsafe in accordance with Twitter's URL policy.
This link could fall into any of the below categories.
However, it is again worth noting that the URL in question actually goes directly to the American Heart Association website.
And so the big question is why exactly was it marked as being unsafe?
Well, the study that the American Heart Association posted expressed concerns about the risk of heart disease.
Specifically, the abstract itself, it was titled, A warning.
And the author of that particular study, he outlined the evidence that mRNA vaccines contribute to factors that predict an elevated risk of acute coronary syndrome, which, again, according to the author, quote, can lead to inflammation on the endothelial and T-cell infiltration of cardiac muscle and may account for the observations of increased thrombosis, cardiomyopathy, and other vascular events following vaccination.
However, that is exactly where the issue lies.
Because previously, the warning system that Twitter had in place, it was only used in cases of spam, malware risks, as well as other deceptive means of soliciting clicks or soliciting information.
However, the scope of this warning system has now been expanded to include,"...violent and misleading content that could lead to real-world harm and certain categories of content that, if posted directly on Twitter, are a violation of the Twitter rules." And I guess that is exactly where this study falls.
Because according to Twitter's system, this study falls either into the category of potentially causing real-world harm by decreasing people's likelihood of getting a vaccine, or it just broadly falls into a category of content that they disallow.
Although the second point is questionable, because on Twitter, you see many studies that are posted without incident.
And so the system, it has to somehow judge which studies are good and which aren't.
And how do they exactly do that?
Well, nobody knows.
Now, you should know that the study in question here, the one from the American Heart Association that was marked as being a risk, is currently not peer-reviewed.
And also, the American Heart Association Journal, they did publish an expression of concern regarding that particular abstract by saying this on November the 24th.
There are several typographical errors.
There is no data in the abstract regarding myocardial T-cell infiltration.
There are no statistical analyses for significance provided.
And the author is not clear that only anecdotal data was used.
And so the debate rages on.
However, regardless of the contents of the study abstract itself, this story marks a real development for Twitter, because it shows that they are willing to stigmatize information that their system does not want to be shared, even if that information comes from an organization that's widely known and respected, such as the American Heart Association.
Now, we here at the Epoch Times, we did reach out to Twitter for comment on this matter, and we also asked them whether this has anything to do with the change of executive leadership, but we have yet to hear back.
Regardless though, I would like to mention that I have no opinion on these studies themselves.
I'm not a scientist, and these studies are very technical, and they require scientists to dig through and analyze the data for themselves.
However, I believe that it is worth knowing that we as Americans deserve to know that the platforms that we rely on for sharing information are actively engaged in censorship.
Now, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they have good motives behind their censorship efforts, but regardless, it is my job to report to you what those censorship efforts actually are.
And if you'd like to read more about them, I will throw a link into the description box below this video so you can dig deeper into this story for yourself, and I'll ask in return is that you take a quick, quick moment to smash that like button for the use of algorithm.
Now, before we move on over and discuss how the state of Florida is setting up its own state military force in lieu of the National Guard, I would like to take a quick moment and introduce our sponsor for today's episode, and I will do so from the sound booth.
That's right, Roman.
The sponsor of today's episode is an awesome company called AMAC. That's A-M-A-C. And it stands for the Association of Mature American Citizens.
Now, what I learned earlier today, though, is that you don't actually need to be a mature American citizen yourself in order to join AMAC, because even though they're an organization that's geared towards people who are 50 years of age and above, you can actually join at any age as long as you're an American-loving patriot.
And so what they say is that as our fundamental freedoms here in this country are being threatened by politicians who don't even necessarily know how to balance their own checking accounts, And as there is a concerted effort to censor conservatives by this woke ideology, one thing that you can do to fight back is to join the two million people who are already members of AMAC. And by joining, you'll have access to three main benefits.
The first benefit is the money-saving benefit because by joining, you'll have access to discounts on things like vitamins, restaurants, retail shops throughout the entire country.
Second of all, you will gain access to the AMAC website The AMAC app as well as the AMAC magazine, which gives you something that the mainstream media doesn't, which is honest news that is grounded in facts.
And third of all, and this is what a lot of people say is their favorite benefit, is that AMAC has your back over on Capitol Hill.
Because with two million freedom-loving members, they are a voice for conservatives that cannot be ignored.
And so, if you are a person who considers themselves a constitutional conservative, then I would consider joining AMAC. You can do so over at amac.us.
That's amac.us.
So consider signing up, consider helping AMAC's effort, and getting access to these excellent membership benefits.
So, AMAC, thank you so much for sponsoring this episode.
Now, Roman in the studio, back to you.
And now let's move on over and talk about the National Guard.
According to a statement from the Secretary of Defense, National Guard members who refuse to get the vaccine will no longer be able to participate in training, and they will have the risk of having their pay withheld.
Specifically, in a memo that was released about a week ago, Mr.
Lloyd Austin, who is the Biden administration's defense secretary, He stressed that vaccination is essential to the health and readiness of the military force in general, and then he added this specifically about the National Guard.
And then when you go a little bit further down in the memo, it says that unvaccinated members of the National Guard who don't get their shots by June 30th of 2022,
which is the deadline, Here's again what the memo said regarding this last point right here.
No credit or excused absence shall be afforded to members who do not participate in drills, training, or other duty due to failure to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Vaccination of the force will save lives and is essential to our readiness.
However, not all states agree with this vaccine mandate and some states are already beginning to fight back.
For instance, we already discussed on a previous episode how the Oklahoma National Guard has essentially rebelled from the Pentagon's orders on this matter and they are currently in the process of suing the Department of Defense over the fact that they are not willing to issue vaccine waivers.
And the reason that this lawsuit can even take place is because during times that the National Guard is not being mobilized by the federal government, the troops are actually led by the governor of the state.
It means that the governor is the commanding authority over the National Guard soldiers when they are within the state's borders and at a time when they are not being mobilized by the U.S. Department of Defense.
And so, for instance, right now, at this very moment, while the Oklahoma National Guard troops are on state active duty, they report to the governor and they are paid by the state.
And so during this time period, the Oklahoma governor is fighting back against the vaccine mandate.
However, if the Oklahoma National Guard gets mobilized by the Pentagon, well, then the case would become moot since the governor would lose his authority.
And so, seeing this situation, the state of Florida is taking a different approach.
That's because just five days ago, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that he will be reinstating the Florida State Guard.
Not the Florida National Guard, but the Florida State Guard, which will answer directly to the Florida government.
Now, in case you've never heard of it, the Florida State Guard dates all the way back to the 1940s.
Back then, during World War II, so many of Florida's National Guard troops were sent overseas to fight that they formed the State Guard in order to fill in for them.
And then after World War II was over in the late 1940s, that unit was disbanded.
However, Governor Ron DeSantis is bringing it back.
Here's specifically what he said on the matter when he made this announcement.
To make sure we have the flexibility and the ability needed to respond to events in our state in the most effective way possible, we want to be able to have a quick response capability and re-establishing the Florida State Guard We'll allow civilians from all over the state to be trained in the best emergency response techniques and have the ability to mobilize very, very quickly.
He further added that the state guard, it would answer directly to the governor with no federal deployment or federal missions.
It would receive no federal funding, and instead it would receive all of its funding from the state.
And at the beginning, it'll be a totally volunteer force of about 200 members.
Now, Governor Ron DeSantis is requesting $3.5 million from the state legislature to get the state guard back up and running.
Now, you might be asking yourself, can a state actually do this?
Can they start their own military force?
And the answer is actually yes.
States do have the power to create defense forces separate from the National Guard, and that answer directly to the state.
In fact, at this very moment, there are 22 states across the nation which currently have an active state force already, including the states of California, Texas, and even New York.
And if Governor Ron DeSantis' proposal actually goes through, he would be the 23rd state.
Here's in fact what he published as a part of his proposal.
The establishment of the Florida State Guard will further support those emergency response efforts in the event of a hurricane, natural disasters, and other state emergencies.
The $3.5 million to establish the Florida State Guard will enable civilians to be trained in the best emergency response techniques.
By establishing the Florida State Guard, Florida will become the 23rd state with a state guard recognized by the federal government.
And so we'll just have to wait and see whether this proposal actually goes through and whether Florida re-establishes their state guard.
However, naturally enough, not everyone is on board with this new plan.
For instance, Ms. Nikki Freed, who is a Democrat and she's actually running against Ron DeSantis in next year's gubernatorial race, here's how she described this new proposal.
Florida doesn't need a paramilitary force that only answers to Governor Ron DeSantis.
Millions of Floridians know what it's like to live under regimes like this and came to our state to escape them.
This must be stopped.
However, as a response to that criticism, here's what Governor Ron DeSantis' office said.
Almost two dozen other states, including California, have a state guard to assist with emergencies.
Also, maybe ease up on scaremongering about paramilitaries while you support the FARC, which is the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia.
If you'd like to read more about what's happening with the National Guard troops at a national level, or about the State Guard that's being set up in the state of Florida, I will throw all those links down in the description box below this video for you to check out.
And again, all I ask in return is that if you haven't already, take a quick moment to smash, smash, smash that like button, lead to the algorithm.
And lastly, if you haven't subscribed to this channel, I would recommend that you do so.
That way you can have this kind of content injected into your YouTube feed every time we publish it.
And also, if you hit that notification bell, you can actually be notified of any new time we release a new video.
