New Study: Natural Immunity Persists 12+ Months After Infection, Strong Antibodies | Facts Matter
| Copy link to current segment

Time Text
Good evening, and boy do we have a great program for you today.
To start with, this new peer-reviewed study, which just came out of Europe, it found that the vast majority of people who have had a previous COVID infection, they have both robust as well as lasting protection from the virus.
Specifically, this study found that the vast majority of people who have had a previous infection, they will continue to carry antibodies against the virus for at least 12 months.
Meanwhile, over in New York City, the effects of the vaccine mandate, they are beginning to be felt.
In fact, one of our reporters here at the Epoch Times, he went around the city and he spoke with restaurant owners to see how they were doing, and they told us that business was down between 40 to 60 percent after the vaccine mandate went into effect.
And lastly, as the national conversation surrounding our military has revolved around things like vaccine mandates, whether or not critical race theory should be pushed through the ranks, or whether a soldier should be put into jail for questioning what happened over in Afghanistan, well, there is something that is being overlooked.
And that is, according to this new data that was just released by the Department of Defense, suicides among service members, they have increased by 16% in the year 2020.
Let's go through it all together.
Let's go through it all together.
And now let's begin today's discussion by talking about natural immunity, which is, by the way, a topic that is becoming increasingly censored.
In fact, over on Instagram, for some odd reason, you can no longer use the hashtag naturalimmunity.
If you try to tag your post with it, well, they just don't let you do it.
You also can't search for it because it's not an available option.
They are essentially not letting American adults discuss this topic any longer.
And that is, of course, not because natural immunity no longer exists, but rather likely because it goes against whatever Instagram is trying to push.
By the way, setting aside this type of Orwellian censorship, if you yourself have an Instagram account, then I would highly consider you follow Epic Times Roman.
That's me.
I publish behind-the-scenes research as well as spicy memes, and I will continue to do so until my account gets disabled.
Regardless, getting back to the topic of natural immunity, about a week ago a new peer-reviewed study was accepted by the European Journal of Immunology and it dealt specifically with this topic, with the topic of natural immunity.
And according to this study, it found that the immune systems of the vast majority of people who have had previously been infected with COVID, they will continue to carry antibodies against the virus for at least 12 months.
Let me just repeat that.
This study found that the vast majority of people who have experienced a prior COVID infection carry antibodies against the virus for at least one year.
Specifically, this study was conducted by scientists over at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare.
What they did was that they studied the presence of antibodies in 1,292 people eight months after they were infected with COVID. And what they found was that 96% of these people were still carrying neutralizing antibodies.
And then further, 66% of them were still carrying a type of antibody called the nucleoprotein IgG.
And by the way, in terms of why that particular antibody is specially highlighted in this report, well, here is how the researchers explained its importance.
Quote, As the concentration of anti-SARS COVID-2 IgA antibodies has been shown to decline rapidly following infection, long-term neutralization is thus driven by IgG antibodies to the spike protein.
Meaning that this particular antibody is very important for protection further down the road.
Okay, so the stats that we just read were for eight months after an infection.
96% of the people still had antibodies, and 66% of the people carried this special IgG antibody.
So then you might be asking yourself, what about a year after the infection?
Well, the scientists over in Finland, they investigated this as well.
They looked at the antibody levels of these individuals one year after they were infected, and they did this by randomly selecting 367 people from that original group who had yet to be vaccinated.
And out of these people, 89% of them still carried neutralizing antibodies, and 36% of them still carried the specific IgG antibody.
Furthermore, these researchers also found that the antibody levels were actually higher in people who had experienced a severe case of COVID.
And so when you compare the people who had a mild case versus those who had a severe case, well, the people who had a severe case had between two to seven times as many antibodies for at least 13 months after the infection.
And in fact, here is the conclusion that was drawn by these researchers in their study.
And just bear through some of the more technical language that they use in this report.
Quote,"...in accordance with previous observations, subjects with severe infection had higher NIGG, SIGG concentrations, and NIB titters than subjects with mild infection, and they're expected to remain seropositive for a longer time." I
And of course, this study is not the first of its kind.
For instance, back in May of this year, in May of 2021, there was a study that was published in Nature Medicine which found that the levels of antibodies that were present in a person's body were in fact a very accurate predictor for whether they could get infected or get seriously ill.
And of course, we've already discussed in a previous episode that large-scale study that was conducted over in Israel, which found that natural immunity might be as much as 13 times stronger than the protection that was offered by vaccines, especially when you look at it on a long timeline.
However, despite these findings showing that there is solid evidence of both robust as well as lasting protection from natural immunity, that does not really seem to matter.
Because when you look at the vaccine mandates that are springing up across America, very few of them offer exemptions to people If they have acquired immunity.
In fact, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education, So we here at the Epoch Times, we actually went through and reviewed these school requirements one by one.
And we were not able to find a single school which offered exemptions to students who already had natural antibodies.
Not a single one.
And likewise, when you look at the recent mandates that are being imposed on employees at the state and the federal level, they also ignore acquired immunity.
Furthermore, when Dr.
Fauci was asked directly about this on a TV news program, when he was asked about why the vaccine mandates across the country don't have a caveat for natural immunity, well, here's what he said.
I don't have a really firm answer for you on that.
Regardless, maybe with this new study coming out of Europe, maybe things will change and exemptions will be carved out.
You never know.
If you'd like to read this full study for yourself, to be frank, it's a little bit dense.
It has a lot of scientific language in it, but it'll definitely give you a lot of data to work with.
I'll throw a PDF of it into the description box below this video for you to check out.
And all I ask in return is that you take a quick moment to smash that like button for the YouTube algorithm.
And now, before we move on over and discuss how the New York City vaccine mandate is squeezing the life out of restaurants, I would like to take a quick moment and introduce our sponsor for today's episode, and I will do so from the sound booth.
That's right, Roman.
The sponsor of today's episode is an awesome company called My Patriot Supply.
So I don't know about you, but I have friends who all they have is this saved up in case of an emergency.
And don't get me wrong, I love toilet paper as much as the next guy, and it's better to have it than to not.
But frankly, if that's all you have saved up in case of an emergency, then you are really not prepared.
Because, listen, with these supply chains stretched to the extreme as they are, with inflation raging, and with the government even admitting that it might default on its loan obligations, I mean, a disaster looks like it might be coming.
In my opinion, it's a question of when, not if.
And so I would highly recommend that you prepare.
In my own house, I have cupboards.
I have an entire closet that's filled with food, ready to go in case anything goes down.
And so if you don't have food prepared, I would highly recommend that you go on over to preparewithfactsmatter.com.
That's the website that they're prepared for us.
And buy food from my Patriot Supply.
They have sold food to millions of Americans, and right now you can save $100 off of their three-month emergency food kit, which gives you a plentiful supply of breakfast, lunches, dinners, drinks, and snacks for a three-month period per person.
Again, this is something that you absolutely need.
And when you head on over to their website, you'll see they don't only sell food.
They sell pretty much everything you need to survive a disaster.
Air and water purifiers, survival gear, camping gear, pretty much everything you need.
So as they say, don't be caught standing in a government food line when the disaster hits.
Go on over to preparewithfactsmatter.com and save $100 off that three-month food kit.
They're going to send it to your door quickly and discreetly.
Now, Roman in the studio, back to you.
And now let's move on over to New York City.
In a development that almost no one could have seen coming, New York City's decision to implement a vaccine mandate and effectively ban 40% of New Yorkers from dining in restaurants, well, it turns out that that decision was not great for business.
In fact, one of our reporters here at the Epoch Times, he went around the city and he actually spoke to the managers and owners of several different restaurants And what he found was that these businesses were down 40 to 60 percent due to the vaccine mandate.
Let me just repeat that.
These restauranteurs, these restaurant owners, they told us that due to the vaccine mandate, their businesses had suffered between 40 to 60 percent.
Now for your reference, just in case you're not aware, last month, in the month of September, New York City officially implemented a vaccine mandate.
And so, with Mayor Bill de Blasio's new policy in place, all indoor restaurants, indoor gyms, as well as indoor entertainment in the city of New York, they must ask for people's papers.
When someone who is over the age of 12 is trying to get in, well, they must not only show proof of vaccination, but they must also show a photo ID. And in terms of how this is all actually playing out in the real world, well, we spoke with Mr.
Fergal Burke, who is the owner of O'Donohue's Pub.
It's over by Times Square.
It's been a pretty popular restaurant over the past 10 years.
And he said that not only did he have to hire an extra person to check people's papers at the front door, but many people, they don't even want to come in anymore.
Here's what he said.
Our business is definitely down 50, I'm going to say 60%.
There's just not people coming into the restaurant.
They have the fear of being asked for vaccines.
Furthermore, he told us that he has had to refuse a lot of customers because they did not have a vaccine passed.
And then, to add insult to injury, not only is that potential customer turned away, but then also that potential customer feels resentment towards the restaurant.
Here's specifically what Mr.
He further added that it makes very little sense that the New York City subway, it's filled with people who are standing shoulder to shoulder without having to show a vaccine card in order to get in.
But on the flip side, restaurants, they are being forced to turn away customer after customer.
Here's what he said.
I mean, how is that fair in New York City that the trains are jammed with people with a silly mask on and they're not being mandated to show nothing?
And yet they're coming against the heart of the city.
We're the ones that's trying to keep 20 people employed here.
We will go out of business if this continues.
It's going to force us to shut our doors.
And the craziest part of all this, at least in my opinion, is that Mr.
Burke told us that he will be spending between $10,000 and $15,000 in order to build an outdoor seating area before winter hits.
Why?
Well, that's what a lot of restaurants here in New York City are doing.
It's basically a workaround around the vaccine mandate.
Because that vaccine mandate, it stipulates that a vaccine card is required for indoor dining.
And so basically, a lot of restaurants, they're creating these elaborate outdoor installations.
But these outdoor installations, they are not like a chair and table on the curbside.
When you walk around New York City, you see that most of these outdoor dining areas, they're pretty much giant makeshift houses where people eat.
They're basically outdoor dining, but it's really indoor dining.
Another restaurateur that we spoke with, Mr.
Stratus Morgafen, he is the managing partner with the Brooklyn Chop House, he suggested that the government needs to start seriously considering bailouts for the restaurant industry.
Here's what he said.
Business is down probably 50% because people are not comfortable with being forced to take a vaccine.
All of a sudden, we dropped 40% from week to week since the mandate started.
Furthermore, in terms of actually having to enforce the vaccine mandate, he says that it's not really his place to dictate people what medical procedures they should take.
Here's what he said.
The politicians don't understand that there is no one-size-fits-all with medicine.
And you can't just tell a person who has just finished chemotherapy that they have to take a vaccine to have dinner when their doctor says that they can't.
However, for the time being at least, that is exactly what is happening here in New York City, at least in indoor restaurants, indoor gyms, as well as indoor entertainment.
If you'd like to read those full interviews for yourself, I'll throw a link to them.
They'll be down in the description box below for you to check out.
And once again, all I ask in return is that you take a quick moment to smash that like button for the YouTube algorithm.
And now let's move on over and talk about the U.S. military.
And now let's move on over and talk about the U.S. military.
As the national conversation surrounding our soldiers has over the past few months revolved around things like mandatory vaccine mandates, whether or not critical race theory should be pushed through the ranks, or whether or not a soldier should be put into jail into the brig for questioning what happened over in Afghanistan, well, there or whether or not a soldier should be put into jail into the brig for questioning
According to new data that was just released from the Department of Defense, suicides among service members have increased by 16% in the year 2020 when you compare it to the previous year.
Specifically, this data showed that in the year 2019, there were 498 self-inflicted deaths, while in the year 2020, that number rose all the way to 580.
Furthermore, this report also found that most of these suicides were from males under the age of 30 and that the majority killed themselves using firearms.
Now, this report came out just several months after a different analysis was compiled by the Cost of Wars project at Brown University.
And that report, it found that since 9-11, four times as many American service members as well as veterans have died by suicide than have been killed in combat.
Think about that.
Four times more.
That particular research, it found that since 9-11, 7,057 soldiers have been killed in military operations.
However, during that very same time period, 30,177 active duty personnel, as well as veterans who served in the military since 9-11, they have died by suicide.
Regarding this trend, here's what the report says.
The trend is deeply alarming.
The increasing rates of suicide for both veterans and active duty personnel are outpacing those of the general population, marking a significant shift.
And outpacing the general population, it is.
In fact, according to data that was recently released by the VA, veterans are one and a half times more likely to commit suicide than the general civilian population.
In fact, there are about 20 veterans who die by suicide every single day in this country.
And of course, I just want to throw out there because it might seem obvious, but it's important to remember that these are not just statistics.
These are real people who have real lives, they have real families, they have real children, parents, they have hobbies, they have homes, they have PlayStations, they have favorite shows, they have favorite books.
I mean, at some point, these are just real people who enlisted, they put on the uniform, and they risked their own lives in order to serve this country.
And when they came back, they slipped through the cracks.
Now, once this data was released, this data that showed that there was a 16% increase in the rate of suicides in the year 2020, Mr.
Lloyd Austin, who is currently the defense secretary for the Biden administration, he issued a statement calling suicide prevention a paramount challenge to his department.
He said this, The findings are troubling.
Suicide rates among our service members and military families are still too high, and the trends are not going in the right direction.
In that statement, he also vowed to redouble the department's efforts on this front.
But the big question that obviously remains is this.
What is exactly driving these increasing numbers?
Well, according to Mr.
Thomas Seward, who authored that earlier report that we mentioned, the one regarding the number of deaths since 9-11, he said that one of the main reasons that these numbers continue to climb is due to an indifference by the American public.
Here's specifically what he said on the matter during an interview on NBC News.
Furthermore, while Mr.
Sooth was working on his research paper, he also found that several other factors included the increasing use of IEDs, which caused more traumatic brain injuries, the post-combat stress that never quite seems to go away even when you get back to civilian life, Here's what he said.
There was a sense that an active service member would rather lie on a screening to be able to stay in the military.
If they have a traumatic brain injury but no other physical injuries, they downplay the injuries to stay in their career.
However, in my opinion at least, the only real way to understand what's happening with veterans is to hear it from themselves.
And along that line, here's an awesome trailer for a film called Bastard's Road that was made by a Marine Corps veteran who actually fought over in Ramadi in Iraq.
And then when he came back to the States, he took a 5,800-mile walk for healing and redemption.
Here's a trailer for that awesome movie.
"Combat" I'll take that last little piece, that piece that you thought the world is kind of an okay place.
Combat takes that from you, and you'll never get that back.
They lose part of themselves when they go to war, and we just hope that we can help them get all those pieces and parts back together.
A Maryland man has been walking across the country since last year.
9,000 kilometers, what, 5,800 miles?
It's a little lonely road out there.
You want your home, you think it's over.
It's just beginning.
You go off to war and you're going to be asked to do unspeakable things.
To think that you just went over and did your job, that's pretty ignorant.
I don't think we're looked at as patriots or heroes.
I think we're looked at as damaged goods.
Most people, they look at PTSD and they see weakness.
It's a survival mechanism.
It's what the situations that we were in over there demanded us to behave in a different way.
No one else knows what we went through but them.
Not being able to see these guys or not knowing how they're doing, you tend to lose it.
It's just, it's hard to communicate.
I was very angry very quickly, and I didn't have any control over where my mind was going or what I was thinking about.
I couldn't stop them from happening.
When John comes, he carries the grief too, but it's like, I'm not the only one.
Like, I can share it with him.
These are strong individuals.
They're not victims.
They're survivors.
