Man Arrested with OVER 300 Stolen Mail-in Ballots, Fake IDs, Loaded Gun | Facts Matter

Good evening.
Just yesterday, the CEO of Pfizer, he had an interview where he not only expressed a concern that sometime in the future a new strain of COVID might emerge that might be resistant to vaccines altogether, but he also revealed the fact that Pfizer is currently conducting vaccine trials on kids between the ages of 5 and 11 years old, with further plans to go even younger.
Meanwhile, over in California, where the governor is facing a recall election, something unusual happened just a few days ago.
During a routine inspection, police officers over in LA County, they found a man's car, which was filled with a loaded gun, narcotics, multiple California driver's licenses, multiple credit cards with different people's names, as well as over 300 unopened mail-in ballots for the recall election.
Let's go through it all together.
This is your daily Facts Matter update, and I'm your host, Roman, from the Epoch Times.
And now let's begin today's discussion by talking about the vaccine.
But actually, just before we do, as a quick aside, I would like to give you two recommendations.
The first one is that a lot of people have been saying that they don't get updates about our videos.
And so I would highly recommend that you subscribe to this YouTube channel.
And if you think you're subscribed, also take a quick moment to make sure that you're still subscribed, because I've been getting messages of people who say that they were unsubscribed against their better wishes.
The second thing is that if you're subscribed, hit that notification bell.
Because even when you're subscribed, YouTube still sometimes does not push our videos out for weeks or even months at a time, leading people to think that we're just not publishing anything.
However, when you hit that notification bell, it forces the YouTube system to notify you of any new videos that we publish.
And now let's move on over and really talk about the vaccines.
Just yesterday, the CEO of Pfizer, Mr.
Albert Berla, he said in an interview that in his opinion, at some point in the future, a strain of COVID that is resistant to vaccines is likely to emerge.
Here's specifically what he said during an interview over on Fox News.
Every time that the variant appears in the world, our scientists are getting their hands around it.
They are researching to see if this variant can escape the protection of our vaccine.
We haven't identified any yet, but we believe that it is likely that one day, one of them will emerge.
And this, by the way, is not the first time that he has publicly made this type of ominous prediction.
Back in February of this year, Mr.
Berla had another interview with Fortune magazine.
And in that interview, he was likewise asked about the effectiveness of the Pfizer vaccine in fighting against the emerging variants.
He answered that he was, in fact, quite confident that it could neutralize the new mutations.
However, he added that the fundamental question is how likely will there eventually emerge a vaccine-resistant strain of the virus?
Here's specifically what he said in that earlier interview.
Theoretically, it is a very possible scenario.
If you protect a very big part of the population, and if there is a strain that emerges that can use this vaccinated pool of population to replicate while the current strains cannot, obviously this will overtake the original.
So it's not a certainty, but it is now, I believe, a likely scenario.
During that same interview with Fortune magazine, he then went on to say that this was why he believed that his mRNA-based vaccine was so potent.
Because he said that the mRNA technology, which is again what's being used by the Pfizer vaccine, allows for the rapid development of a new version to be developed in around two months.
Here's specifically what he said on that front.
That proves even more the case for an mRNA vaccine, because now you can very quickly develop a new version of the vaccine that either adds to the current immunogenicity or creates a very different one that can cover the new mutations as well.
I believe we will be within two months to have it.
And so during that earlier interview in February, as you just saw, he said that it will take likely two months for the vaccine to change to accommodate for any new variations.
However, just yesterday during that new interview with Fox News, he expanded on this point and said that actually Pfizer has a new process in place which allows them to develop a variant-specific vaccine within 95 days of identifying a new mutation.
Here's specifically what he said on that front just yesterday.
We have built a process that within 95 days from the day we identify a variant, We will be able to have a vaccine tailor-made against this variant.
Now, as we already discussed in a previous episode, just earlier this week, the Pfizer vaccine was approved by the FDA for use in people above the age of 16.
However, in terms of the people who are younger than the age of 16, well, here's what the Pfizer CEO had to say.
We will be able to finish our studies in September.
And a little bit later, we are going to do studies for kids below 5 years old.
Although he did not elaborate on the types of studies that they're running on these young people.
And so, it looks like while at the moment the vaccine is still under emergency use authorization for those between the ages of 12 and 15, it might be the case that it'll be approved for all people, including those under the age of 5 in the near future.
Now, in terms of their production line for the rest of the year, the Pfizer CEO said that he is planning on producing a total of 3 billion vaccine doses by the end of 2021.
Here's what he said on that front.
We are very focused on two things.
One is to produce as many doses as possible.
Because as you know, the world needs more.
And right now, the demand is significantly higher than the supply.
We are working to resolve that.
We have released 1 billion doses in the first six months of 2021, and we are going to release 2 billion doses in the remainder of the year, for a total of 3 billion doses for the year.
Which, of course, has contributed to the increase in stock price for Pfizer.
For your reference, their year-to-date stock increase is around 30%.
And also for your reference, as of today, the U.S. government has purchased about 500 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine to be used domestically and another 500 million doses to be given away overseas.
Now, interesting to note that this interview with the Pfizer CEO came on the very same day that the CDC released this new data on their website, which has shed some more light on the effectiveness of the vaccines in protecting against the new Delta variant.
And when you look at this data, that's again available on their website, Based on a study of 4,217 participants who are fully vaccinated, 65 of them, by the way, who received the Pfizer shot, 33% of them who took the Moderna shot, and 2% of them who took the Johnson& Johnson shot, this report found a significantly lower effectiveness rate during the recent period when the Delta strain has been more prominent compared to the prior months.
And the difference is fairly significant indeed.
In fact, when you look at the data, vaccine effectiveness went from 91% all the way down to 66%.
That's what it says.
In the period before the Delta variant, the vaccine, according to this data, was 91% effective.
However, now it's only 66% effective.
And this most recent report, by the way, is not an anomaly.
We already discussed in a previous episode how the CDC recently published three other studies which found that the vaccines were 84%, 79%, and 53% effective, depending on which study you looked at.
But regardless of which study you were actually going to follow, they were showing a basic declining trajectory in the effectiveness of these vaccines in fighting against the variants, which is why the FDA, in conjunction with the CDC, the NIH, as well as the Surgeon General, which is why they issued a joint statement earlier last week saying this which is why they issued a joint statement earlier last week saying The available data make very clear that protection against SARS-CoV-2 infection begins to decrease over time following the initial doses of vaccination.
And in association with the dominance of the Delta variant, we are starting to see evidence of reduced protection against mild and moderate disease.
That same statement then went on to say that because of this new data, because of this decrease in efficacy, federal officials are now recommending that people get booster shots eight months after they've been fully vaccinated with either the Pfizer or the Moderna vaccine.
Basically, either of the vaccines that use the mRNA technology.
Here's specifically what that statement said in this regard.
Based on our latest assessment, the current protection against severe disease, hospitalization, and death could diminish in the months ahead, especially among those who are at higher risk or were vaccinated during the earlier phases of the vaccination rollout.
For that reason, we conclude that a booster shot will be needed to maximize vaccine-induced protection and prolong its durability.
And so with this endorsement of the booster shots, as well as with the official approval by the FDA, Pfizer's business is looking pretty good in the foreseeable future.
In fact, during that interview with Fortune magazine, which was, by the way, conducted prior to the FDA authorization, here's what the CEO of Pfizer said.
But the truth is that a lot of indicators are telling me that it could be a forever bit of business, like we have for flu.
And that's not only because we may have to repeat booster shots periodically for the current strains, but also because of the chance that we will have new mutants and variants coming out so that you will have to evolve your vaccines, as happens with flu.
I don't know if that's going to be the case.
What I do know is that we are preparing for this scenario, so we are making sure that we are building our capacity for the long term.
However, there is a lot of demand in the short term as well.
Because as soon as the FDA approval went through, vaccine mandates began to sprang up across the country, encouraged, in fact, by the federal government.
In fact, here's what Joe Biden said during a speech just two days ago, almost immediately after the FDA approved the Pfizer vaccine.
If you're a business leader, a nonprofit leader, a state or local leader who has been waiting for full FDA approval to require vaccinations, I call on you now to do that.
Require it.
Do what I did last month.
Require your employees to get vaccinated or face strict requirements.
And that seems to be exactly what is happening around the country.
Even giant banking corporations are getting into the action as well.
For instance, Goldman Sachs is now requiring vaccination for not only all their employees, but also all of the visitors to their banking locations, including their clients.
Furthermore, the Secretary of Defense has officially ordered that all U.S. troops quickly get vaccinated against COVID, although it's not exactly clear whether his order also applies to the U.S. troops who are currently holding down the fort over in Afghanistan.
They might have other priorities.
Regardless, if you'd like to read the comments from either the Pfizer CEO for yourself, or if you would like to check out this latest data from the CDC, I will throw all that into the description box below this video for you to check out.
And now, before we move on over and discuss how a man over in California was busted with a loaded gun, narcotics, as well as over 300 unopened mail-in ballots, I would like to take a super quick moment and introduce our sponsor for today's episode, which I'll do from the sound booth.
I wanted to take a quick moment and introduce our sponsor for today's episode, which is an awesome company called AMAC, or A-M-A-C, and it stands for the Association of Mature American Citizens.
Now, I do consider myself a mature American citizen, but I'm about 19 years too young to join AMAC. We're good to go.
I'll throw a link to it in the description box below.
The second is that members get a subscription to their magazine.
And even though I'm not a member, I have read their magazine and it's filled with thought-provoking articles.
Very good.
I'd highly recommend it.
And then the third benefit, which a lot of people say is their favorite, is that AMAC fights on Capitol Hill against what they're calling the socialist storm that's brewing in America.
So again, I would highly recommend you check them out.
It's not too expensive.
It's only $16 per year, but it looks like the benefits outweigh the cost by a wide margin.
Again, you can go over to amac.us forward slash facts matter, or just click in the link in the description box below.
And AMAC, thank you so much for sponsoring our episode.
Now Roman in the studio, back to you.
And now let's move on over to California.
And you probably already know that California's governor, who is Gavin Newsom, he is currently facing a recall election.
That election will ask voters in California two questions.
Whether they think that Gavin Newsom should be recalled, and secondly, who they think should replace him.
Now, the frontrunner for replacing Gavin Newsom is a radio host named Larry Elder.
And just for full transparency, by the way, Larry Elder hosts a program called The Larry Elder Show for Epoch Times.
But today, I'm not going to discuss any of the merits regarding the candidates.
Instead, I would like to talk about something else.
Last week, police officers over in Torrance, California, which is a city over in LA County, they made a fascinating discovery.
On Monday of last week, at around 10.45 p.m.
at night, We're good to go.
That's right.
That's right, let me just repeat that.
In this man's car, he had 300 unopened mail-in ballots for the upcoming recall election.
Here's a statement from the police sergeant with the Torrance Police Department who answered the call.
Here's a statement from the police sergeant with the Torrance Police Department who answered the call.
Inside the vehicle, the officers found a loaded handgun, some narcotics, and then they found a bunch of mail, and what turned out to be over 300 election ballots in the backseat of the vehicle.
Inside the vehicle, the officers found a loaded handgun, some narcotics, and then they found a bunch of mail, and what turned out to be over 300 election ballots in the backseat of the vehicle.
They appeared to be in a box, but they were also kind of strewn across the backseat of the vehicle, and so there was just a large portion of mail in that backseat.
Furthermore, besides the ballots, the narcotics, as well as the loaded gun, police also said that they found in this man's car multiple California driver's licenses, as well as multiple credit cards with different people's names.
Here's a bit more from that statement from the police sergeant.
The election ballots, they were untampered with, unopened, a little over 300 of them found, primarily from addresses in Lawndale.
There were some from Compton.
We're still trying to figure out where all these belong to at this time, so we're working with the Los Angeles County Election Office, as well as with the U.S. Postal Inspectors.
Now, the L.A. County Registrar's Office confirmed to local media out in California that these ballots were in fact for the upcoming recall election.
They also added that they had been sent out, but they were never filled out, nor were they returned by the voters, likely because they were stolen.
That same county office, by the way, also said that because there was other stolen mail in the car as well, besides these mail-in ballots, they don't believe that this was a specific attempt to influence the results of the recall election.
Here's what the registrar's office said.
Although frankly, when you look at the ballots in the pictures, it is a bit suspicious that they were packed up so neatly in boxes.
Now, three days ago, the Torrance Police Department issued an update on this case, writing on their official Facebook account that, Case update regarding the arrest that was made on August 16th, in which over 300 election ballots were recovered from the suspect's vehicle.
This case is currently being investigated by our Special Investigations Division in partnership with the U.S. Postal Service and the L.A. County District Attorney Public Integrity Unit.
Investigators are trying to figure out how the election ballots ended up in the suspect's vehicle and what their intent was in having them.
This incident is not tied to any additional thefts of election ballots.
Which I'm sure is a very reassuring statement to the people out in California.
But regardless of whether this was just general mail theft or some kind of deliberate attempt to influence the election, it does bespeak of some of the issues involved in California's election rules.
Specifically, there are two things being done in California which have sparked security concerns.
The first is that back in February, the California state legislature passed a measure to send out mail-in ballots to every registered voter, regardless of whether they asked for one or not, which is very likely what this man was caught stealing.
The second measure, and this is something that I've never heard of before, this is the first time I've ever heard of such a thing, is that the California Secretary of State's office made it possible for people with disabilities to download a mail-in ballot on their home computer, print it out, and then mail it back.
Let me just repeat that.
Over in California, you now have the ability to download your own ballot, fill it out, and mail it in.
This system is officially called RAVBM, which stands for the Remote Accessible Vote by Mail system, and here's how the Secretary of State's office describes the process on their website.
Download the application, mark the selection, print the selection, sign the envelope, and then return the printed and signed selections either by mail or by dropping it off at a voting location.
And in terms of the requirements to vote this way, according to an FAQ document, which was released by the state, they said that in some counties, a person with a disability must register as a vote-by-mail voter up to seven days prior to the election in order to vote using this RAVBM system.
However, it's worth noting that, according to this memo here from the former California Secretary of State, even though this ballot printing system was created for voters with disabilities, in the 2020 election, any voter was allowed to use it, regardless of whether they have a disability or not.
Here's in fact specifically what that memo said.
Assembly Bill 860 added Elections Code Section 3016.7 that requires county election officials for the statewide general election on November 3, 2020 to Now again, for your reference, that was for the 2020 election.
And thus far, it's not clear whether this same type of rule will apply for the 2021 election.
Furthermore, it's also not exactly clear what constitutes a disability which would qualify you to print your own ballot.
Regardless, you might be wondering for yourself, how secure is this system exactly?
Well, this FAQ document addresses just that concern.
Here's what it says.
And it answers, California has one of the most strenuous testing and certification programs in the country to ensure that your private and independent ballot is secure.
If you'd like to read more about either this new voting system or about the man who was found with over 300 ballots in his car, all those links will be down in the description box below this video for you to check out.
And lastly, I'd like to make a small announcement similar to what I announced last week.
