Good evening.
Just yesterday, an officer in the Space Force was relieved of his duties, which is a nice way of saying that he got fired after he denounced Marxist ideology that's spreading throughout the entire military.
Meanwhile, over in Michigan, the state Senate over there has just issued a subpoena which requires that all documents related to nursing home deaths during the pandemic must be handed over.
And this, by the way, came after it was revealed that a full 31% of all COVID deaths in the state were And lastly, over on the West Coast, the University of California just announced that they will no longer be considering standardized test scores like the SAT and the ACT as a part of their admission process.
Why?
Well, this actually came as a part of a settlement in a lawsuit which claimed that these standardized test scores were actually racist.
Let's go through this together.
This is your daily Facts Matter update, and I'm your host, Roman, from the Epoch Times.
Now let's begin today's discussion by talking about the Space Force.
And actually, right before we do, as a quick aside, right there at the very top of the description box is a link to Epic TV, our brand new no-censorship video platform where you can find all of the Epoch Times' awesome programs like The Larry Elder Show, Crossroads with Joshua Phillip, American Thought Leaders, China in Focus, Life and Crossroads with Joshua Phillip, American Thought Leaders, China in Focus, Life and Times, The Nation Speaks, as well as my show, And on there are exclusive episodes that you can find only on Epic TV. So again, that link will be right there in the description.
Hope you check it out.
And now let's really talk about the Space Force.
Now, I don't know about you, but sometimes when I read the news, my mind goes through a certain process.
And it's actually automatic.
I don't even really have to think about it.
And the process goes something like this.
I try to see the news piece from the perspective of somebody in the 1950s.
And so if you took someone from the 1950s and plop them into this year, into 2021, and he read that headline, I try to think what he would think.
And usually, when I do this sort of mental exercise, I start to see that...
The Marxist subversion and the socialist subversion of American society has gotten very, very deep.
As just an example of that, look at this headline from over the weekend.
A lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Space Force, he was removed from his post after he published a book which warned about the spreading of Marxist ideology within the U.S. military.
Now this book is titled Irresistible Revolution.
And funny enough, since he was dismissed from his position over the weekend, his book sales have taken off, and right now, when you go on Amazon, it is the number one bestseller.
It's even above the Cancel Dr.
Seuss book.
Now, the author of this book, as well as the man who was kicked off of his post, is Matthew Lohmeyer.
He is a former fighter pilot as well as the former commander of the 11th Space Warning Squadron.
In a statement from the Space Force, the reason that they gave for his dismissal was due to loss of trust and confidence in his ability to lead.
This decision was based on public comments made by Lieutenant Colonel Lohmeyer in a recent podcast.
Lieutenant General Whiting, who is the commanding officer, has initiated a command-directed investigation on whether these comments constituted prohibited partisan political activity.
Now, when that statement mentioned public comments that he made in a podcast, this was most likely referring to his appearance on the Information Operation podcast, where he was on, for one, promoting his new book, as well as criticizing the new training materials that were being used throughout the military.
Here's part of what he said in that podcast.
Our diversity, inclusion, and equity industry and the trainings we're receiving in the military are rooted in critical race theory.
And in case you're not aware, what is known as critical race theory is an offshoot of Marxism, and at its essence, it is an ideology that views society through the lens of a perpetual power struggle between the races.
Among many other things, critical race theory holds that Western culture is a form of oppression, it labels white people, including white children, as oppressors who should feel perpetual guilt due to their privilege, And while Marxism has historically used the tactic of dividing people based on their wealth and social status, critical race theory divides people based on their race and their ethnicity, labeling one group as the oppressor and the other as the oppressed.
Now, according to this lieutenant colonel over in the Space Force, this is exactly the type of stuff that is being taught throughout the military training materials.
Here's what he said in that podcast.
The language of the training, which most people don't understand, but I help lay out in the book, was devised by Marxists.
It's intended to be divisive, and yet we spread it about the military services, pretending it's going to unify everyone.
Now, specifically on that podcast, this lieutenant colonel was criticizing the materials that were given out to the Air Force after Lloyd Austin, who is the Biden administration's defense secretary, issued a stand-down in order to root out what he called extremism within the U.S. military.
As just an example of the type of materials being studied, Mr.
Lohmeyer, this lieutenant colonel, he said that at his base, troops are reading a book that's called So You Want to Talk About Race.
And in that book, there are suggestions about where they should donate money, as well as what politicians they should be donating money to, and throughout that entire book, the United States of America is referred to as a white supremacist nation.
Now Mr.
Lohmeyer, he did not accuse senior leaders in the military of any ill motives.
In fact, he even complimented both the Air Force as well as the Space Force senior leadership.
But then he added this.
I don't demonize the man.
Here he is, by the way, referring to Lloyd Austin.
But I want to make it clear to both him and every service member that this agenda, it will divide us.
It will not unify us.
Especially because of the climate at the moment.
People that sense that something is off with all of the diversity and inclusion trainings and the language and the chorus speech and all this kind of stuff, they're unwilling to take a stand against it because they fear perhaps they might be in the wrong or they might not get promoted.
We spend a lot of time talking about great power competition, but we face our greatest threat here at home.
And in terms of this great power competition that he mentioned in that podcast, he further went on to say that Chinese President Xi Jinping would love nothing more than to watch us rot like this from the inside, because that means there will be no great power competition between the United States and China.
There will not need to be.
Regardless, shortly after this interview, he was relieved of his duties, and as we read in that statement earlier from the Space Force, the Department of Defense has initiated an investigation into whether his comments constituted what they call prohibited partisan political activity.
Now Mr.
Lohmeyer, he denies this claim.
In a statement given to Military.com, here's what he said.
My intent never has been to engage in partisan politics.
I have written a book about a particular political ideology in the hope that our Defense Department might return to being politically nonpartisan in the future as it has honorably done throughout history.
Now, we here at the Epoch Times, we reached out to the Space Force for comment on this matter, but we have yet to hear back.
Regardless, if you've been following the news over the last several months, you know that this is not an isolated case.
Instead, this is just the most recent salvo in the critical race theory battle that's being waged across this country right now.
And in this battle, proponents of critical race theory say that it is a great tool in order to root out what they call systemic racism within America.
In fact, the current administration, the Biden administration, falls in this camp.
Here's what Jen Psaki said just a few days ago.
I don't think we believe that educating the youth and the future leaders of the country on systemic racism is indoctrination.
That's actually responsible.
On the flip side, however, opponents of critical race theory say that the ideology itself is racist, divisive, and has no place in America.
And along that line, several states with Republican legislatures like Oklahoma and Idaho, they actually banned altogether schools from teaching this critical race theory in their curriculum.
And not only that, about five days ago, more than 120 retired U.S. generals and retired admirals signed an open letter warning that America is embroiled in an existential fight against Marxism.
And in that letter, they urged all citizens to get involved in local and state politics.
Here's what part of that letter said.
In terms of what this battle will mean for the future of the country as a whole, well, only time will tell.
However, if you would like to read more about this lieutenant colonel out in the Space Force, or if you would like to read the full text of that letter from the 120 former admirals and generals, all that will be linked in the description box below this video for you to check out.
And now, before we discuss how the University of California did away with standardized test scores in their admissions process, well, I would like to introduce our sponsor for today's episode, and I'll do so from the sound booth.
The sponsor of today's episode is AMAC, that's A-M-A-C, and it stands for the Association of Mature American Citizens.
Now, even though I consider myself a mature American citizen, I am about 20 years too young to join.
But if you or someone in your family is 50 years old or older, You should consider joining AMAC. They are basically the conservative version of the AARP and they have basically three main benefits to joining.
The first one is the money-saving benefit.
If you're a member, they will give you a ton of discounts to places like retail shops, restaurants, on insurance plans, on vitamins.
It's actually a pretty long list of discounts you'll get.
I'll throw the link in the description box below this video.
You can check out the full list.
The second benefit is that they will send you a magazine directly to your doorstep.
And even though I'm not a member, I have read their magazine and it's pretty good.
It's filled with a lot of really good thought-provoking articles.
And then the third benefit, and what people consider the best, is that they actually fight for conservative values on Capitol Hill.
Basically, they're fighting against what they're calling the socialist storm that's brewing in America.
And so if you are interested, it doesn't cost that much.
It's only about $16 per year.
Check out AMAC. The link will be in the description box below this video.
Or you can go on over to amac.us forward slash facts matter.
Again, that's amac.us forward slash facts matter.
And AMAC, thank you so much for sponsoring this episode.
And now Roman in the studio, back to you.
Now, while we are on the topic of discussing racism, let's talk about what happened over in California.
Starting this fall, the University of California school system, which has nine campuses in total, will no longer consider standardized test scores as a part of their admission process.
Why?
Well, this change in policy is actually the result of a legal settlement which came from a lawsuit which alleged, among several other things, that the traditional SAT and ACT tests are actually racist.
The University of California settled in this lawsuit, and under this new settlement, the university system, which currently, by the way, has about 225,000 students, said that it will no longer consider either the SAT or the ACT, which are sent in with admissions applications.
Now, besides capitulating and no longer accepting these test scores, the University of California will also pay over a million dollars in attorney fees to the lawyers who represented the plaintiffs in the case.
And by the way, the plaintiffs in the case were seven different groups which collectively sued the school system.
Part of the reason that they argued that these tests were racist was because of the fact that during the pandemic, students of lower-income communities had a harder time getting to the testing sites, and since people living in those communities were disproportionately minorities, ergo the problem is one of race.
Now we here at the Epoch Times, we reached out to the company which actually produces the SAT test, and this is what they told to us in a comment.
The SAT itself is not a racist instrument.
Every question is rigorously reviewed for evidence of bias, and any question that could favor one group over another is discarded.
Today's SAT is an achievement test that measures what is taught in school and what students need to know to be prepared for college.
Performance differences across groups of students reflect an unequal K-12 system.
That's why the SAT should only be considered in the context of where students live and go to school, and an SAT score should never be a veto on a student.
Now, we here at the Epoch Times, we also reached out to the company that produces the ACT, but we have yet to hear back.
Regardless, if you would like to read more about this decision out in California, the link to that will be in the description box below this video for you to check out.
And by the way, that is that same little description box that is right below that like button that I hope you take a moment to smash.
Because videos that are like this that talk honestly about what is happening in this world right now are routinely centered by big tech giants like YouTube.
However, when you smash that like button below this video, you are forcing the YouTube algorithm to share this video out to potentially thousands of more people, letting the truth be known far and wide.
And now let's move on over to Michigan.
Four days ago, the Michigan State Senate issued a subpoena which requires that all documents related to how Governor Gretchen Whitmer handled nursing homes during the pandemic must be handed over.
And this subpoena, by the way, came after the initial request from the Senate was ignored for more than two months.
Now, in terms of which documents are covered by the subpoena, Michigan's Department of Health and Human Services is required to turn over all of their documents, as well as all of their communications related to COVID policies, as well as policies surrounding long-term care facilities.
Now, if you remember, back in the early days of the pandemic, Michigan, alongside New York and four other states, they issued a policy which they said was meant to prevent hospital overcrowding.
And that policy achieved that by returning senior citizens who were recovering from COVID to nursing homes.
In fact, in Michigan, Governor Whitmer issued an executive order back in April of 2020 to designate 21 nursing homes as what she called regional hubs.
However, this policy might have had some unintended consequences.
That's because, according to state data out in Michigan, 5712 of Michigan's COVID deaths were either residents or staff members of long-term care facilities.
And when you do the math, that equates to about 31% of all virus-related deaths in Michigan.
Now, after these statistics were released, after they were made public, Republican lawmakers called for an investigation into whether the governor's policies actually exacerbated the outbreak in nursing homes.
However, back in March, Michigan's Attorney General, who is a Democrat, she refused to investigate the governor, saying that she saw no evidence to suggest that Governor Whitmer's efforts to contain COVID-19 in Michigan's nursing homes resulted in increased deaths.
However, Republicans in the Michigan Senate continue to pursue this case, and they want their questions answered.
In fact, Lana Theus, who is the vice chair of the Senate Oversight Committee, she said this about the need for an investigation.
Over a third of people who died from COVID-19 in our state were long-term care facility residents and workers.
We deserve to know what decisions led the Whitmer administration to implement, maintain, and publicly defend its tragic policy.
The administration must be fully transparent, and a full investigation must be conducted to determine whether any wrongdoing occurred, and if it did, to ensure justice is delivered.
Now, this newly issued subpoena requires that all documents must be provided no later than 5pm on May 27th, Which is not this Thursday, but the subsequent Thursday.
And if the documents are not handed over by that time, then the Michigan officials who are in charge of these documents may be punished for contempt of the legislature.
And so we'll just have to wait and see if the documents are actually going to be released this time and see for ourselves what they reveal.
Now, we here at the Epoch Times, we reached out to the governor's office for comment, but we have yet to hear back.
Regardless, if you would like to read more about this case out in Michigan, the link to that will be in the description box below this video for you to check out.
And lastly, as we already mentioned in several previous episodes, on the very same day that Joe Biden was sworn into office, YouTube made the unilateral decision to demonetize our program.
We can now no longer run any ads before, during, or after our episodes, and the Super Chat feature has just been disabled.
They are essentially snuffing out our independent journalism.
However, we here at The Epoch Times have launched something very, very cool.
It's called Epic TV. It's our brand new no-censorship video platform where you can find all of The Epoch Times programs, such as The Larry Elder Show, Crossroads with Joshua Phillip, China in Focus, Life and Times, The Nation Speaks, as well as our program here, Facts Matter, and on there you will find exclusive episodes that you can find only on Epic TV. You cannot find them here on YouTube.
The link will be in the description box below this video.
It's right there pinned at the top.
And I hope you check it out because right now, what this republic needs more than anything else is honest voices that do not have to self-censor for the big tech overlords.
So again, that link will be in the description box below this video.
Hope you click on it.
I hope you subscribe.
And I hope that you join us on this journey of exploring this world through honest journalism based in truth and tradition.
