Legal Action Against Admin for Releasing Dangerous Criminal Aliens | Facts Matter

	Good evening.
	Over the weekend, in major cities across the West Coast, such as Los Angeles, Portland, as well as Seattle, they saw riots as well as violent demonstrations on their city streets.
	Although that's not much different than a regular weekend out there.
	Now, the Education Department over in Oregon, they sent out a newsletter to all middle school teachers, urging them to take a class in order to make mathematics less racist.
	Now down in Florida, the Attorney General down there is suing the Biden administration for what she's calling their egregious immigration regulations, which she says go against federal law.
	And lastly, after a public dispute between Tucker Carlson and the Marine Corps, the military has issued a retraction.
	Let's go through these stories together.
	This is your daily Facts Matter update, and I'm your host, Roman, from the Epoch Times.
	Now let's start today's discussion over at the West Coast.
	Several major cities on the West Coast, such as Los Angeles, Portland, and Seattle, had both riots as well as violence break out over the weekend, which frankly is not much different than normal.
	However, these particular demonstrations marked the one-year anniversary of Breonna Taylor's death over in Kentucky.
	According to some of the footage that we found from the weekend, there were protests and clashes between crowds of people and the police.
	Rioters were throwing rocks at police officers and smashing up store windows in several of the cities.
	One video in particular shows a demonstrator jumping on a police cruiser as it was driving away.
	Now, over in Portland, according to local reports, the federal courthouse was surrounded and sieged, as it has been in previous occasions as well, and the rioters, who were mostly members of Antifa according to their slogans, their signs, and how they were dressed, created a so-called no-go zone around the courthouse, not letting either the public or police come through.
	Now, besides some property damage and a few scuffles, there luckily were not any reports of either major injuries or deaths as a result of these demonstrations over the weekend.

	And actually, a few months back, me and my team actually went over to Portland to report on the riots that were happening there, and we put together a short video which can give you a better look into what it feels like to be in the middle of these demonstrations.
	Take a look.
	We are here in Portland, Oregon, and behind us is a contingent of riot police who have had rocks, Molotov cocktails, and even commercial-grade fireworks fired at them.
	We heard that everything in Portland was peaceful, so we came here to see what was really happening on the ground, and a lot of this has been totally underreported.
	And honestly, the protesters here are not hiding their true intentions.
	Just listen yourself to what they're chanting.
	We went in deep and even got interviews with the protesters themselves.
	I'm not saying, calling for anything, but I mean, the Second Amendment was written for us to rise up against tyrannical government, so...
	We went to their events and got footage of ride gear like shields and helmets being distributed free of charge to the protesters.
	We also went downtown and filmed the devastating effects that all this was having on local businesses, which are mostly boarded up now.
	We're working to bring you an accurate picture.
	We're reporting things as they truly are here in Portland as well as across the U.S. so that you can see the truth for yourself.
	And now let's indeed talk about the military, specifically about the online war that has broken out between Tucker Carlson and the Marine Corps.
	Now, to give you a bit of context, about a week ago, Tucker Carlson aired a segment where he criticized the Biden administration's handling of military priorities.
	In that segment, he juxtaposed how while the Chinese Communist Party was addressing the lack of masculinity in Chinese boys, the Biden administration seems to be focusing on accommodating women in the military, such as by tailoring uniforms specifically for women, designating maternity flight suits and relaxing hairstyle regulations.
	In that segment, here's what Tucker said.
	So we've got new hairstyles and maternity flight suits.
	Pregnant women are going to fight our wars.
	It's a mockery of the U.S. military.
	While China's military becomes more masculine as it's assembled the world's largest navy, our military needs to become, as Joe Biden says, more feminine, whatever feminine means anymore since men and women no longer exist.
	The bottom line is it's out of control, and the Pentagon is going along with this.
	Now, there are two general ways that these comments were interpreted, at least online.
	One is that it is a criticism of the administration for distracting the military from its warfighting mission.
	The other interpretation is that it's Tucker Carlson opposing women's playing a role in the military altogether.
	Not three days ago, an official Twitter account with the Marine Corps began to publicly attack Tucker.
	They posted this picture of a female soldier carrying a male soldier.
	They tagged Tucker Carlson in that post, and they wrote that the photo showed what it looks like in today's armed forces.
	They further added that, Get right before you get left, boomer.
	And boomer is, of course, a pejorative term, which is pretty unprecedented.
	It's an official account of the U.S. military attacking a civilian commentator, a private citizen like that.
	And so, after intense pushback online, that Marine unit, they took back their comment, and they said that they messed up.
	Here's what they wrote.
	We are human, and we messed up.
	What was intended as a tweet in support of our female Marines and sisters serving in uniform was clearly not aligned with our standard practices or an appropriate representation of the Marine Corps.
	We will do better and serve the people.
	We can do better, and we will collectively take a knee, review our procedures, and get back in the fight.
	Our focus is to train, fight, and win, and we have a hard time doing that without your support.
	And by the way, your support, they were referring to the female soldiers.
	And interestingly, that is the first time I've ever read about someone taking a collective knee outside of the realm of professional sports.
	So that was quite interesting.
	Now, we reached out to the Pentagon for comment on this matter, but we have yet to hear back.
	Now, before we move on over to Oregon and discuss how their education department is fighting racism in the math class, I would like to mention something.

	And now let's move on over to Oregon.
	It was reported about a month ago that the Oregon Education Department, the Education Department for the entire state of Oregon, was promoting a training program that helps teachers develop an anti-racist math practice.
	They are trying to make math less racist.
	Specifically, what they did was they sent out an email newsletter which urged all middle school teachers to register for a class that was titled A Pathway to Equitable Math Instruction.
	In that course, a toolkit is distributed to all the teachers, which states that in order to achieve this equity, what needs to happen is a visualization of the toxic characteristics of white supremacy culture with respect to math.
	Now, having read that, you might be asking yourself, what exactly are these alleged toxic characteristics of white supremacy culture within the realm of math?
	Well, according to the toolkit, among many other things, they include a focus on getting the right answer, again this is in math, students being required to show their work, and teachers treating mistakes as problems by equating them with wrongness.
	Now the toolkit then goes on to further say, in reference to setting the focus on getting the right answer, that upholding the idea that there are always right and wrong answers perpetuate objectivity as well as fear of open conflict.
	And as an antidote to this problem, teachers in this course are recommended to have their students come up with at least two answers that might solve a problem.
	That way, students can challenge standardized test questions by justifying answers other than the one that's right by unpacking the assumptions that are made in the problem.
	Now, furthermore, according to this toolkit, teachers are also expected to learn to...
	Now, one interesting thing to note here, although the entire story is interesting in my opinion, is that the toolkit actually links to a workbook titled Dismantling Racism as Reference Material.
	And in that workbook, there is a section which claims that only white people can be racist in our society, because only white people as a group have that power.
	Now, what's going on here in Oregon is not an isolated incident.
	Instead, this is just another example of critical race theory being pushed into America's social and cultural institutions.
	And what exactly is critical race theory?
	Well, basically, it is an outgrowth of the European Marxist school of critical theory.
	And what it does, what critical race theory does, is that it labels the very foundations of the American system, such as things like rationalism, constitutional law, as well as legal reasoning, as tools of racial oppression.
	And at the moment, it is getting a lot of traction among institutions here in America, especially in schools.
	In fact, just a few weeks ago, a high school football coach over in Massachusetts, he was fired after he raised concerns over critical race theory being taught in his daughter's 7th grade history class.
	What happened there over in Massachusetts was that this football coach emailed a list of concerns about his daughter's world geography and ancient history class to members of the school's committee.
	What concerns specifically did he have?
	Well, among other things, students in that class were instructed to identify police officers as a risk to black people and to identify black males as a risk to white people.
	And after this football coach was fired, he filed a lawsuit against the school district, alleging that...
	The instruction their daughter was received in world geography and ancient history was unrelated to the ancient history and world geography subjects described on the public school website.
	Instead, the instruction concerned issues of race, gender, stereotypes, prejudices, discrimination, and politics.

	And now, let's head on over to Florida.
	A few days ago, the Attorney General of Florida said that she is taking legal action against the Biden administration because of what she called their egregious immigration regulations.
	Which, by the way, according to her, actually go against federal law.
	In an interview, here's what she said.
	I've been speaking for weeks now and alerting Americans to the fact that this administration is thumbing its nose to its responsibilities under federal law.
	It is required to deport criminal aliens that are here illegally and it is just saying we're not going to do it anymore.
	She further then went on to say that the Biden administration canceled a nationwide operation which aimed at bringing illegal aliens that committed sex crimes to justice.
	Here's what she said.
	First, they canceled Operation Talent, which targeted sex offenders here in the United States illegally.
	And now they've released guidance, which is basically releasing into our streets serious criminal offenders.
	And according to this attorney general, dangerous criminals are now being released back into Florida, and she says that her team will hold the Biden administration responsible.
	Here's what she said.
	They're canceling retainers and requiring our law enforcement leaders to release them back into our state.
	And this includes heroin traffickers, people that are breaking into homes, use of a firearm with some of these felonies.
	I mean, it is unbelievable.
	The folks that our law enforcement leaders are required to release.
	My frustration has boiled over, and we're going to hold them accountable in federal court.
	Now, I would like to highlight something.
	In her statement, she mentioned something called Operation Talon.
	And for your reference, Operation Talon is a Trump-era program which aimed at deporting sex offenders.
	And it was part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to fight sex trafficking as well as to combat child sex trafficking.
	However, this operation is now on an indefinite hiatus.
	Now, last week, we here at the Epoch Times actually published a commentary article that was written by the former acting director of ICE. And he wrote that the left would never be able to outright abolish ICE. And so rather, what they're aiming to do is to cripple the agency, to cripple ICE, through the funding.
	He wrote that...
	As I predicted, immigration enforcement has been cut by more than $300 million, mostly in detention funding and transportation costs.
	Another email went out to the field shutting down National Operation Talon that sought to arrest at-large illegal aliens with sex crime convictions, including child molestation.
	Now, in that article, he further added that it is a huge shame to pause or shut down this operation because, among other things, thousands of investigative hours go into planning for these operations, from identifying targets, to locating them, to ensuring appropriate coordination with other law enforcement entities, and so on.
	Now, Florida is not the only state fighting back against these new immigration policies.
	Both Montana as well as Arizona have also taken legal action to block the Biden administration's regulations, saying that they would cause negative consequences for their states.
	Now, which regulations are they exactly referring to?
	Well, these are new rules which would limit the capability of ICE to detain illegal immigrants only when they meet several criteria.
	They have to either pose a national security threat.
	They have to have entered the country through the border after November 1st, or they have to have committed aggravated felonies.
	If none of these three points apply, then the ICE officer on the field would need to request permission from a superior in order to arrest the illegal alien.
	Here's how the Arizona Attorney General described this new policy: "If asked about the poorest policy choice I've ever seen in government, this would be a strong contender.
	Blindly releasing thousands of people, including convicted criminals and those who may be spreading COVID-19 into our state, is both unconscionable and a violation of federal law.
	This must be stopped now to avoid a dangerous humanitarian crisis for the immigrants and the people of Arizona." Arizona then went on to file a lawsuit against the Biden administration and shortly afterwards was joined by Montana.
	The attorney general for Montana gave his reasoning for joining the case this way.
	Meth trafficked into Montana by Mexican drug cartels has racked our state.
	The problem will only be made worse if the Biden administration continues to allow criminals to stay in the country.
	Enforcing our immigration laws and helping to keep Americans safe is one of the federal government's most important functions.
	The Biden administration is failing its basic responsibility to Americans.
	Now what's interesting to note here is that Montana is pretty far away from the US-Mexico border, which brings us to the question of the broader overview of what is happening here.
	So the chief deputy of Pinell County, which is in southern Arizona, he recently said that the crisis at the border began to re-emerge around the end of 2020, because at that time, the cartels expected President Joe Biden to have a hands-off attitude with regard to the border situation.
	Here's what he said.
	When Trump took office, we saw that this area out here went completely dead.
	Nobody was moving.
	Nobody was smuggling because the cartels knew that Trump was going to put all hands on deck out down here and that they would be intercepted, so it came to a screeching halt.
	However, he said that since Joe Biden has ordered a halt to the construction of the border wall, it has created more trouble for Pennell County, at least, since it doesn't have physical barriers.
	And what he says is that criminals are funneling through, reaching the highway, and then transporting the drugs as well as the people throughout the rest of the country.
	And he encouraged people to remember that this problem is not limited to the southern part of the United States, saying that these people and these drugs are not coming here to Pinell County to stay.
	This is a transport location.
	This is a spot they get through to get to their final destination, and they're being sent all over the country.
	Including, as we read in that earlier statement, all the way to Montana.
