According to this newly released report right here, Bill Gates, who is the fourth wealthiest person in the entire world, is now the largest owner of farmland in all of America.
Meanwhile, according to newly released data from the FBI, it shows that gun sales skyrocketed in the year 2020, reaching an all-time high.
Meanwhile, over in Florida, a man who described himself as being an avowed hardcore leftist has been arrested by federal authorities for plotting a violent disruption to a protest of Trump supporters over at the Florida State Capitol.
And lastly, on his very final day as Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo officially designated the Chinese Communist Party's actions over in Xinjiang as a genocide.
Let's go through these stories together.
This is your final 2020 election update, and I'm your host, Roman, from the Epoch Times.
So today is, of course, January the 20th, which is Inauguration Day.
Today is the last day of President Trump's first term in office, and Joe Biden has now been sworn in as the nation's 46th president.
So we actually had people down there in Washington, D.C., on the ground, and here is some of the footage.
The inauguration ceremony today was very different from normal.
If you remember, four years ago, there was that big debate between whether President Trump or President Obama had the largest crowd size at their inauguration.
Well, we will not be having that debate this year.
Washington, D.C. looked like a militarized zone with very, very few people who were actually in attendance.
In fact, I believe that there were more National Guard troops stationed there than there were attendees.
In fact, instead of the usual crowd on the National Mall, organizers actually planted thousands of American flags there instead.
Of note, President Trump actually skipped the inauguration while Mike Pence attended the ceremony alongside former presidents Barack Obama, George Bush, and Bill Clinton.
Now, Joe Biden, he of course campaigned on a platform of undoing much of President Trump's legacy.
After assuming office, he is expected to sign a list of about two dozen executive actions, including an order to stop the construction of the southern border wall, an order to rejoin the Paris climate accord, as well as an order to cancel the travel ban that was put into place to protect the U.S. from terrorism.
We'll keep you updated as these things progress.
And if you'd like to read more about the inauguration, as well as what Joe Biden said in Washington, D.C., those links will be in the description box below this video for you to check out for yourself.
And by the way, while you're down there looking for those links, take a quick moment to smash that like button.
As you already know, videos that are like this talking about the election or what's going to come next are routinely censored by big tech censorship.
However, when you smash that like button that's below this video, you are forcing the YouTube algorithm, the same algorithm that suppresses videos that are like this, to share this video out to potentially thousands of more people, letting the truth be known far and wide.
So over the past few days, there have been a lot of things that have been happening both here in America as well as around the world.
Let's go through some of them together.
According to new data that was just released by the FBI, gun sales in 2020 within the United States have set an all-time record high.
So the FBI is able to determine the number of gun sales based on the number of background checks that were conducted.
And in 2020, federal authorities carried out more than 39.5 million background checks.
By the way, that's about a 40% increase from 2019, from the previous year.
In fact, last month alone, which was in December of 2020, it was the busiest month on record, with almost 4 million background checks being conducted just in December.
Now, in general, gun sales do typically increase in election years historically.
However, 2020 was an exceptional year, even within the context of being an election year, owing to the pandemic, the social unrest and the protests that happened all around the country, as well as the general political uncertainty that we saw throughout the entire year, as well as after the election.
And one specific factor that should not be overlooked is that ahead of the election, as well as after the election, many people feared losing their gun rights if Joe Biden won the presidency.
That's because he has, in the past, called for a number of measures, including prohibiting online gun sales, incentivizing states to introduce red flag laws, and on his campaign website, Joe Biden boasted that he has taken on the NRA twice and won.
That's, by the way, a reference to his part in passing two specific pieces of anti-gun legislation.
On that same page, it says that, as president, Joe Biden will defeat the NRA again.
And furthermore, in a Twitter post from about 12 days ago, Joe Biden wrote that,"...I pledge to continue to work with you and with survivors, families, and advocates across the country to defeat the NRA and end our epidemic of gun violence." Now, the NRA, as I'm sure you're already aware, stands for the National Rifle Association.
They have more than 5 million members nationwide, and as an organization, they seek to protect and educate people about their Second Amendment rights.
And about a week after Joe Biden posted that tweet, the NRA announced that they are leaving New York by filing for bankruptcy and reincorporating in Texas.
In a statement that was released by their CEO, it said, The plan can be summed up quite simply.
We are dumping New York, and we are pursuing plans to reincorporate the NRA in Texas.
Now, in terms of why they're actually choosing to go this bankruptcy route, here's a bit of context for you.
The New York Attorney General, who is a Democrat, by the way, filed a lawsuit against the NRA late last year, alleging that top executives engaged in diversion of millions of dollars away from the charitable mission of the organization for personal use by senior leadership, awarding contracts to the financial gain of close associates alleging that top executives engaged in diversion of millions of dollars away from the charitable mission of the organization for personal use by senior leadership, awarding contracts to the financial gain of
In response, the NRA denounced this lawsuit, referring to it as basically a political crusade to destroy the organization.
Now, Texas has about 400,000 NRA members, and in a Twitter post, the governor of Texas welcomed the NRA by saying that, Welcome to Texas, a state that safeguards the Second Amendment.
The NRA announced that they have plans to hold their annual convention in Houston, Texas, later this year.
Now, by the way, this is a great opportunity for me to introduce our channel sponsor, AMAC, and I'll do so in the sound studio.
That's right, Roman.
Today's sponsor is AMAC. That's A-M-A-C, and it stands for the Association of Mature American Citizens.
Now, I myself, I'm about 20 years too young to join, but if you or somebody in your family is 50 years old or older...
You should consider joining AMAC. It's not that much.
It doesn't cost much at all.
It's only $16 per year, every year.
And they offer you a lot of benefits.
For instance, you get discounts at restaurants, on vitamins, on insurance plans, at different retail stores, etc.
You can click on the link in the description box below to see the full list of benefits.
They also send you their magazine, which even though I'm not a member of AMAC, I've read the magazine.
It's pretty good.
It has a lot of really good articles in it.
A lot of thought-provoking pieces.
And best of all, you can know that you're part of an organization that is standing for and fighting for conservative values on Capitol Hill, in Washington, and around the country.
They're fighting against what they're calling the socialist storm that is brewing in America.
So if you want to check them out, you can click on the link below or you can go to amac.us forward slash facts matter.
Again, the link will be in the description box below.
And AMAC, thank you so much for sponsoring our video.
And now Roman in the studio, back to you.
Now, on a slightly different topic, it was just revealed the other day that Bill Gates is currently America's largest owner of farmland.
How much does he actually own?
Well, according to research that was published by The Land Report, Bill Gates currently owns 242,000 acres of farmland across 18 different states.
According to this report, his largest holdings are in Louisiana with about 69,000 acres, Arkansas with about 47,000 acres, and Nebraska with about 20,000 acres.
Now, it's a little bit unclear as of right now how this land is being used.
We actually reached out to Cascade Investments, which is Bill Gates' personal investment company for comment, but have yet to hear back.
If you'd like to read this full report, as well as look through the breakdown of all the different holdings by states, that link will be in the description box below this video for you to check out.
And just as an aside, Bill Gates is not the only tech billionaire who is buying up tremendous amount of land in America.
Jeff Bezos, who is the CEO of Amazon, currently owns about 420,000 acres of land, primarily in West Texas.
So speaking of Amazon, we already discussed the fact that they kicked Parler, which is a competitor to Twitter, off of their web services platform, which essentially took that website offline.
Now, Parler is actually suing Amazon, and according to this new court filing that I have here in my hand, Parler's CEO has been forced to leave his home and go into hiding with his family after receiving death threats and invasive personal security breaches.
Now, what type of breaches is he referring to?
Well, during an interview, he said that he was targeted by a hacker group called UGNazi, and basically, they doxed him.
He said that, And subsequently, he had to go into hiding.
Now, we here at the Epoch Times, we actually reached out to UGNazi for comment, but I've yet to hear back.
Furthermore, it's not just Parler's CEO and his immediate family that have had to go into hiding.
Even just rank-and-file employees over in Parler are also getting targeted.
In the same filing, in the latter page, it says that So the conclusion here is that running a free speech alternative to Twitter is not easy.
At the moment, Parler is still offline, although the CEO, he says that he is confident that the platform will return by the end of January.
Now let's switch gears a little bit and talk about Twitter.
To start with, their stock price has continued to fall after they banned President Trump.
So far, this year, in 2021, they are down at least 15%, which translates to approximately $4 billion in value that has been erased.
I read an article in Investor Place, which is a pretty well-known investment publication online, and they noted that there are concerns of a potential ripple effect of the company banning President Trump from its platform that could lead to another drop in shares.
And they also noted that users are likely to leave Twitter for other platforms out of fear of further censorship, which, if you're dialed in and you're following this stuff, is already happening, as alternative platforms like Gab, Minds, and Parler, before Parler was taken down, saw huge surges in traffic.
Now, one of the big criticisms that people have with the Twitter censorship is how inconsistent it seems.
For instance, in a recent interview, a Twitter spokesperson, he discussed tweets that came from China's communist regime.
In those tweets, the Chinese Communist Party denies the existence of forced labor camps in Xinjiang and basically calls the whole thing a lie that was made up by America.
Here's one of those tweets from China's foreign ministry spokesperson, and it says, Forced labor is the biggest lie of the century, aimed to restrict and suppress the relevant Chinese authorities and companies and contain China's development.
And Twitter, they said that tweets like that do not break Twitter's platform rules.
And in fact, let's focus a little bit more about what's happening in China's Xinjiang province.
Just yesterday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo officially announced that in his determination, the Chinese regime has committed genocide and crimes against humanity against Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang.
In a statement he wrote that, He also added that,
Now, it cannot be overstated how big of a deal this actually is.
Because this is not some blogger online or some pundit on TV saying this.
This is the official position of the United States of America.
And for some context, Congress passed legislation back in December of last year, late December, requiring the U.S. administration to determine whether the actions against the Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities in that region constituted crimes against humanity and genocide, which now they determined that it has.
And by the way, for your reference, those actions that they're looking into include forced labor, forced sterilization, as well as torture.
Now, of course, this designation comes at the very tail end of President Trump's first term in office, but it seems that Joe Biden's team is actually in agreement with it.
Even before the presidential election, Joe Biden's campaign declared that genocide was occurring in China's Xinjiang region.
And furthermore, just, I believe, yesterday, Joe Biden's nominee for Secretary of State, he said that the Trump administration took the correct stance toward the Chinese regime.
He said that, Now, in that same interview, he went on to further say that he agrees with Mike Pompeo's designation that genocide has taken place in Xinjiang.
So, in regards to the new policy and to the new approach to dealing with the Chinese Communist Party, what will that actually look like?
Only time will tell.
As an aside, this new designation of genocide does not automatically unleash any kind of penalties on China.
But, among other things, it does mean that countries will have to think hard about allowing companies to do business with Xinjiang.
Perhaps even Twitter might start labeling the Chinese Communist Party's denials as fake news.
Who knows?
If you'd like to read more about this designation or about the full comments by the incoming Secretary of State, those links will be in the description box below this video for you to check out.
And now, let's talk about what happened over in Florida.
A few days ago, federal agents out there in Florida, they arrested a self-avowed, hardcore leftist because allegedly he was plotting to violently disrupt a protest that was scheduled at the Capitol over in Tallahassee.
In a news release, prosecutors said that they averted a crisis by arresting the man, and that he was issuing a call to arms for like-minded individuals to violently confront protesters gathered at the Florida Capitol this Sunday.
And specifically, he called for others to join him in encircling any protesters and confining them at the Capitol complex using firearms.
By the way, the protesters in question here are pro-Trump protesters, who this man referred to as being terrorists.
Now, in terms of who this man actually is, on Facebook, he once posted that, I don't give up blank.
I'm an anarchist and I want to watch capitalist society burn.
Now, furthermore, in an article about Seattle's Autonomous Zone, he identified himself as a hardcore leftist and said that he had traveled to Seattle in order to take part in the revolution.
In that article he was quoted as saying how disappointed he was in the lack of violent opposition here, and that if they really wanted a revolution, we needed to get a case and start making bombs.
Now this man is currently in custody, and we reached out to his lawyer for comment, but he declined.
If you want to read more about this story or any of the stories we discussed today, all those links will be in the description box below this video for you to check out.
