Has Barack Obama Really Experienced Systemic Racism? | Larry Elder

There really is no good way of putting it.
When it comes to how much racism there is in America, President or former President Barack Obama is lying, flat out lying.
For example, at a recent virtual town hall, here's what Obama said about racism and the legacy of racism and Jim Crow, et cetera, et cetera, in America.
A long history of slavery and Jim Crow and redlining and institutionalized racism that Too often have been the plague, the original sin of our society.
What happened to that Obama who told 60 Minutes Steve Croft when he was senator, running for president, when Croft said, if you don't make it, will it be because of racism?
What happened to that guy?
You think the country's ready for a black president?
Yes.
You don't think it's going to hold you back?
No.
I think if I don't win this race, it will be because of other factors.
It's going to be because I have not shown to the American people a vision for where the country needs to go that they can embrace.
Now, why do I say he's lying?
He's more than capable of doing it, not just because he's a politician.
All politicians lie.
But Obama made a big lie when he said, when he ran in 2008, that he opposed same-sex marriage.
How do we know he lied?
Because his top aide, David Axelrod, in a new book, said he lied.
Check this out.
Obama misled Americans for his own political benefit.
David Axelrod writes in his new book, I'm just not very good at bull, Obama told Axelrod.
Axelrod writes that he knew Obama was in favor of same-sex marriage.
Axelrod admits to counseling Obama to conceal his position for political reasons." And he's also lying about racism.
Why does Obama say things like, racism is in America's DNA? Why does Obama say things like, you know, I've had the experience of walking down the street and having somebody lock their doors too.
You think anybody locks their doors when this dude comes down the road?
He's about as scary as Urkel.
He's lying.
This is a guy who's led a charmed life.
Obama thinks of himself as a world beater.
You have to have a massive ego to run for president.
By definition, you think of yourself as a world beater.
You think this guy thinks he's been held back by racism?
Look at his life.
His white mother has a PhD in anthropology.
His black father a PhD in economics from Harvard.
His mom divorces or ends her relationship with Obama's father.
I'm still unclear how that rolled.
And she marries an oil executive.
They move to Indonesia.
Obama attends a private school operated by the people for the oil executive company.
He has private servants.
His mom sends him back to Hawaii so he can get a better education.
He lives with his white grandparents.
His grandfather is a successful salesman.
His grandmother ultimately becomes a VP of a bank.
And Obama goes to the private prep school called Punahou, the finest prep school in the whole state.
By his own admission, he sat around, smoked a lot of dope, was a mediocre student.
He ends up somehow getting into Occidental College, which is a very competitive private school here in Los Angeles, for two years.
By his own admission, not a particularly good student, somehow gets into Columbia, Ivy League, and then goes to Harvard for law school, becomes president of the Harvard Law Review.
The man never set foot in public school.
His daughters attended a private school run by the University of Chicago when he taught there.
And his wife attended a public school, but basically it was a magnet school because she agreed to go on a bus so she wouldn't have to go to the underperforming local school.
And this is a party and a family that apparently opposed the school choice for you and me.
But I digress.
Let's get back to it.
So Obama then moves to Chicago.
Not from there.
He joined the Trinity Church because of his desire for political connections, and he decides to run for state senate because the incumbent decided to run for another office.
She changes her mind, decides to keep her office.
Obama says, I'm sorry, I'm staying in the race.
Obama then challenged all the signatures he had to file to run for re-election and essentially got her kicked off the ballot, so Obama won without any opposition.
Then Obama decides to challenge Bobby Rush for Congress.
He primaries him.
And Bobby Rush, the former Black Panther, kicks Obama's butt.
How and why?
Because he characterizes Obama as not truly black, from Harvard, taught at University of Chicago, carpetbagger, not really from Chicago, doesn't really understand the culture, yada, blah, etc.
Obama even complained about it.
So what did Obama do when he got his butt kicked?
He redesigned his state senate district to make it more white, more affluent, more Jewish, less black, less poor.
Explain to me how racism has hurt this man.
And then he decides to run for U.S. Senate.
And he's not likely to win, but little by little by little, scandal and other things knock off the front runners.
He runs.
And he wins.
And he gives a speech in 2004.
I was there in Boston.
An introductory speech to the candidate John Kerry, and he lit the room on fire.
He didn't say anything.
There's one blue America, there's one red America, there's only one United States of America, there's only one American platitudes, but it was well done.
And I turned to my producer then and I said, this man is going to run for president someday, and someday he's going to get elected.
I didn't know it was going to be that soon.
Remember, this was Hillary's race to win.
And this guy comes out of nowhere with a funny name, knocks her off, knocks off John McCain, and despite this tepid recovery, he knocks off Mitt Romney for re-election.
Where has this man been hurt by racism?
Tell me!
Give it to me!
He got a higher percentage of the white vote than John Kerry in 2008.
And a greater percentage of black voters, for the first time in history, voted than the greater percentage of eligible white voters did.
Tell me how this man has been hurt by institutional racism, systemic racism, structural racism, and the one that Beto O'Rourke gave us, foundational racism.
Give it to me!
Race has never been a more insignificant factor in American life, and Obama knows it.
How do I know he knows it?
Because when he gave a commencement speech to Howard University, I think it was 2016, he said to these students, if you could be born anywhere At any time, where would it be and when would it be?
And what did the man say?
He said it would be here and right now in America because he knows the truth.
How do you have the cash shoes to run for president if you think you're going to be held back by racism?
Who was his role model?
Please.
It is a lie.
Just as he lied about same-sex marriage, Obama is lying about this.
And why is he doing it?
Because he knows that in order to get that 95% near monolithic black vote without which the Democratic Party cannot survive, he's got to get black people angry.
What's a good way of getting them angry?
Talk about race and racism.
Take the George Floyd incident and act as if it's a microcosm of racism in America.
Anything bad happening, let's blow it up and act like it happens everywhere all the time.
It's nonsense.
And his success proves it.
Think about it.
You're a racist.
And you've told people that you're going to vote for Obama because you know that it's the politically correct thing to say.
You've told posters that.
However, when you're at home filling out your absentee ballot or when you're in that voting booth, you can do whatever you want.
And the man won with 52% of the vote.
And consider this, before he walked into the White House, after he got elected, President-elect Obama, his approval ratings got up to 70%, 7-0.
Now, how does it happen?
Even people who didn't vote for him pulled for him.
Why?
Because they assumed that the Obama they were getting was the Steve Croft Obama, the one who said, even if I don't win, it will not be because of racism.
That's the man they thought they were getting, and they thought that when Obama got elected in 2008, there was now a fork Put into the notion that racism remains a major obstacle towards somebody being successful in America.
Instead, the Obama they got was the one who invited Al Sharpe into the White House some 70, 80 times.
Racism is in America's DNA. There's a place called Ferguson.
If I had a son, it would look like Trayvon.
Eric Holder, when it comes to matters of race, America is a nation of cowards.
Obama knows its BS. I wonder sometimes how the man sleeps at night because it's making things worse.
It means we're not concentrating on schools.
It means we're not talking about choice.
It means we're not talking about whether or not the welfare state has incentivized women to marry the government and allowed men to abandon their financial and moral responsibility.
It means we're not talking about doing something about the borders on the grounds that unskilled illegal alien workers compete for jobs that would otherwise be held by unskilled black and brown Americans and puts downward pressure on their wages.
We're not having this discussion.
Why?
Because we're talking about Confederate statues.
And defund the police.
How does Obama honestly—I know you're listening to this video, Mr.
Former President—how do you sleep at night?
By encouraging sloth.
By encouraging anger.
By not encouraging industry and application.
I know you're doing it within the confines of your home.
I know you're not telling Sasha and Malia that racism remains a major problem in America, and by the way, the man's going to hold you back.
I know you're not telling them that, because that discourages people.
And the last thing a parent wants to do is discourage his or her child.
Because a parent's job, as Dr.
Laura Schlesinger used to say, is to give a child roots and wings.
And you should do that for Black America, as you've done that for your family.
And recently, according to Forbes, Obama and Michelle now have a net worth of $130 million.
And check out this humble abode they just purchased in Martha's Vineyard for $11.75 million.
Honestly, some of these activists, the ones who are the most angry, are very wealthy in America.
How did Al Sharpton get wealthy?
The man, according to the New York Times, at least with one time, $5 million light in taxes.
How did that happen unless you make a boatload of money?
Farrakhan.
Farrakhan lives in a mansion.
Jesse Jackson.
Jesse Jackson's a multimillionaire.
And all three of them, Jackson, Sharpton, Farrakhan, basically made their living by saying, F you to racist white America.
How did they become a multimillionaire?
Tell me!
One quick thing before we wrap this up.
Orlando Patterson is a longtime professor at Harvard University.
He teaches sociology.
He's left wing.
Aren't all sociologists.
He's also black.
In the 90s, 90s, He was more optimistic than some of these so-called Black Lives Matter activists are today.
Here's what Patterson said, who's still at Harvard.
Here's what Patterson said in the '90s.
"America is now the least racist white majority society "in the world, has a better record of legal protections "of minorities than any other society, white or black, "offers more opportunities to a greater number "of black persons than any other society, "including all of "offers more opportunities to a greater number "of black persons than any other End of quote.
One final thing, Mr. Ford.
Former President.
Can you do something about this?
Uncle Ben and Jemima canceled.
I thought it was illegal to fire blacks just because they're blacks.
Now, have you seen my movie?
It is called Uncle Tom.
Check out this short trailer.
Now remember, just go to UncleTom.com and be the first in your hood to get you some Uncle Tom merch.
