Welcome back to Slightly Offensive with Elijah Schaefer, your favorite gay black woman.
We are here for a special episode.
Just to let you guys know, we're a bit on a mini speaking tour around the country.
So make sure you check out where we're speaking.
And today's podcast is special because it's actually taken from a speech and some QA's that we did out in the country at a school called Cal Poly Pomona, which is in California, which is the first stop as we head up to Portland.
And then we're going to go to Kansas, then to Texas, and back to Utah and Idaho.
I mean, it's going to get crazy.
But I want to let you know that this is really important because right now there's a debate going on in this country that basically people on the right are afraid of answering questions.
We're afraid of confronting the hard truths.
We're afraid of meeting people that are maybe further right than we are or being able to answer people who we don't like.
And the thing is, is that that is a totally untrue statement.
Yes, there are some people on the right who have been caught up recently in a bit of a scandal that's going on online where they are unable to defend their own ideas or they've chosen not to for personal reasons, which is fine and they're right.
But here at Slightly Offensive, we are absolutely dedicated to never backing down from confronting ideas or people that we find to be controversial or disagree with.
And of course, you can never appease your enemies.
You can never appease opposing parties.
No matter what we do here, somebody's going to hate how we handled it, who we talked to, or what we could have done better.
But I'm going to let you know that as we go on the speaking tour, it is our goal to reach people in person to show them that we don't hide behind scripts, ideas, and editing, but we actually confront the true challenges of our culture face on, unedited, with the ability to reach people and give them a chance to ask what they want to ask.
Thank you so much.
We hope you enjoy this.
But first, I want to give a special thanks to our sponsor, which is Simply Safe Home Security System.
You know, honestly, guys, it's really, really insane the kind of security measures that we deal with.
I mean, we can't even let people know where our studio is or even slightly, we can't even let guests know ahead of time the address.
We have to send them a car that just drops them off.
Why?
Because we're honestly threatened from the fact that if somebody finds out where we are, they're going to break in.
They're going to steal our stuff.
They're going to vandalize it.
I mean, whether it's Fox News or Prague or You or Daily Wire, everybody goes unmarked.
They're hypersensitive about who comes in.
And you know what?
Where else are we hypersensitive?
Not just our studios, our homes.
And, you know, this is our home.
This is the United States of America.
We got to protect our families.
And it takes police up to 45 minutes sometimes to come to a call.
You can't trust just the line to go through.
And sometimes even if someone breaks in, I've had two people break into my home before as I in LA.
It's a really bad place.
You don't know what's going to happen.
I didn't have video surveillance.
I can't prove to the insurance companies what they took or didn't take.
And it's really frustrating.
And that's why SimplySafe is awesome.
They have camera surveillance that only activates when you're away so that the NSA, the CIA, people aren't using it to spy on you.
It doesn't activate when you're home.
It's really awesome.
It helps police get their 3.5 times faster.
They have a ton of awards, no contracts at all.
And by the way, if you check out the link below, which is simplysafe.com/slash offensive, you get free shipping, so there's no cost to you, and a money-back guarantee.
It's a complete doors, windows, everything in your house, video surveillance with the increased police reaction response rate.
And it's just for just a few bucks a month, really.
I'm not even joking.
It's awesome.
We use it to protect our studio.
I'm getting one to protect my home.
I even live in a gated community, but things still happen.
And thanks to them and supporters, we are continuing to allow to be on the air.
So please go to simplysafe.com/slash offensive to get yours with your free shipping money back guarantee.
And if it's a money-back guarantee, then come on.
You have nothing to lose.
Just sign up today, check it out, and protect your home, your studio, your work, wherever it is that you need that extra hand and eye in the sky.
And that's a really important topic because somebody said it was Halloween and we had to tie it in.
No, I'm just kidding.
Now, it's a real topic, right?
They want you to be afraid.
And who is they?
Okay, who is they?
It's literally the elites who do not want the people to be aware so that people do not gain the power so that the country does not work for the people, but it works for the elites.
That's really what's true.
And then you ask yourself, well, who are the elites?
Are the people who control and disseminate information?
This is why, for instance, as we began to win the culture war on YouTube by getting our media out and redirecting it around typical media outlets, right?
We weren't getting invited on mainstream outlets, like even Fox or anything.
We weren't getting invited.
And then we all started putting our information on YouTube.
And then now, if you guys know about this, YouTube switched it so that only trusted sources of news are put to the top of your search.
So all of you guys get your favorite news sources suggested, like ABC World News, CNN, and your nightly recap of 30 Fox suggestions.
And then someone that you actually like to watch.
But the point of the matter is, is that there is this push upon each and every one of us to feel like if you speak out that you're going to be singled out because you're alone, you're going to be attacked, and you can lose your job, you can lose a grade, you can lose your place in your reputation, you might lose a significant other.
That something bad might happen to you just because you support right-wing ideas.
Because if you're right-wing, that probably means that you're a white nationalist.
And if you're a white nationalist, it probably means that you're a Nazi sympathizer.
And that means that you're responsible for killing the Jews.
I'm not, that's really what's out there.
And what's really funny is that you'll find out that they call you right-wing extremists.
But if you get into the right-wing, you'll find that the right-wing extremists hate you.
Because you're not conservative enough for them.
You never can be as conservative as you possibly could be for the conservative mob.
And so I want to talk a little bit about the climate of politics.
And I want us to get prepared for where we're headed, right?
How many of you guys were involved in this?
Keep your hands up.
I'm going to ask you this.
How many of you guys were involved in the political fight in the 2012 election?
Anybody?
Raise your hand.
Raise it up if you were.
Okay, raise your hand if you were involved in the 2016 election.
Any of that?
Anybody?
Okay, keep your hand up.
How many of you guys began getting involved after the 2016 election?
How many of you guys have gotten involved in the last year?
What we're seeing is it's just been the last few years that the majority of us in this room have gotten engaged in the political fight.
And so to bring you up to speed, the political fight has always been the same thing.
It's always one group fighting for power.
And I want to bring you into this.
We are the superpower of the world.
Our founding fathers warned us that we should not get into a place where we had two opposing parties.
You know about this, right?
One of the greatest warnings that was given to us was if we had only two political factions fighting against each other.
And we know that this is a design because right now in New York, they're trying to limit the ability for third parties to join the political race.
Major liberal metropolitan centers are actively working on legislation today to keep the fight pitted against two parties.
And why?
Because although you might not see it, we are in an intellectual and a cultural civil war to take control of the greatest power that the world's ever seen.
And this is a common thread in any country.
You have a lot of other parties working together, and you become the top.
And now there's an internal fight of who controls the destiny of the United States of America and who controls the world.
And you might be thinking, I'm a single one person.
What the hell can I do about this?
Well, I'll tell you what.
Number one, don't be afraid of what people are telling you to fear.
Because what they can throw at you is not as extreme as they make it sound.
What's really cool about our culture, thanks to all of us in this room, or a lot of us probably fighting back, no one cares if you're called the Nazi anymore.
Being called a Nazi is just a euphemism for I disagree with you, right?
You'll find that out.
Fascist!
What does fascist mean today?
Fascist means that you voted for Donald Trump.
One day it used to be that you were the fasci di Italiano, whatever, combatamento.
You actually were a black shirt person who tried to stifle press and you tried to regiment society and you believed in this nationalism by faith, ideal ultra-nationalism.
Right.
It just means that you you, wear a red hat.
One day they had the KKK hood as the sign of hate, and now when you look up certain things on the KU KLUX KLAN on Amazon, the red hat shows up.
Make America Great Again.
Interesting, huh?
Some of the most powerful search clouds in the world suggest the MAGA hat for the KKK.
There's this immediate and purposeful and directed reprogramming to try to instill fear.
It's like someone calls you a Nazi and it's almost a badge of honor, because what you know what that means is, that person has no ideas.
They have no ability to refute you.
They don't know who you are or what you stand for.
And they do not care to actually have a real argument against you.
And so what you need to understand you to realize is that as we move into this, we're winning because we're not letting them press us into a position of surrender.
We're fighting back what through the only thing we have and the most powerful tool, it is facts.
We're headed into an important year.
We're going to get into some serious stuff.
And by stuff, I mean a lot of bad words that I can't say on a nonprofit stage.
But I will say this.
I will say this.
What do we need to be aware of?
We need to be aware that the climate is changing.
When you get into an election, enemies on the right, extreme ideas on the right, become just as much something that needs to be spoken out against and refuted as ideas on the left.
There is this idea of what's going to happen where there's going to be this mob mentality, this team sport playing idea that's going to try to pressure you into choosing a side and not be somebody who thinks for yourself.
They're going to tell you what you can say and what you can't say, what you can think and what you cannot think, what questions you're allowed to answer or not allowed to answer, and you have to rise above that.
And people are going to start creeping up from the right that you never heard of before.
And they're going to start trying to pull you into all types of ideas that if you actually test them, just like you did with ideas on the left.
A lot of us go, well, why does communism not work?
Look at where it's been tested.
It doesn't work.
100 million killed in the 20th century.
But when election comes, you have more than just the left now.
The entire spiders of the world crawl out of their trees.
They come and they descend upon who, you, in this room.
And they're going to bully you back into silence so that they can take center stage to fight against one another on the public forum and then again push us back to where we were, silent but the majority.
And we cannot let that happen.
And the worst part about this is the left-wing ones, well, when you see somebody that's like, Stalin wasn't fully wrong, you're like, okay.
Someone told me that before.
Salon wasn't fully wrong.
He just didn't get a right chance to try it, everything.
But what I'm going to say is that when you go into this election as we're going in this, don't let anyone tell you what ideas are on or off limits.
And don't get attracted to ideas just because they're in the darkness.
Put on your thinking caps, be intelligent, be smart, and be ready for what's ahead.
Because no matter what you say or do, somebody's going to disagree with you.
So be ready for it.
You're going to lose more friends.
I can guarantee it.
You're going to come into more positions of places where you're going to be put on the line.
And this is what I'm telling you.
It's really cool to be pro-Trump now because there's a big team.
But watch as you go into the election, only the strongest survive.
Because this is where you thought you knew what was going to happen because of what you saw happen during 2016.
They don't use the same tricks.
And so this idea of fear tonight, I've talked about the climate and where we're going, let's forget about the past.
I love a good SJW cringe video, but I've seen enough.
I love talking about single-payer health care as much as anyone does.
No, I don't.
Can anyone tell me what that is?
That's okay, all right.
But we've got to realize that we are here for a purpose.
And you've got to question for yourself in this climate, why am I a part of this?
I'm personally, I'm personally invested in seeing Donald Trump win the 2020 election.
And I know a lot of you might not agree with that.
Maybe get a hand for that.
I'm not into seeing the Republicans win.
I'm not into seeing the Democrats decimated.
But I'm smart enough to know that if you get caught up in the pettiness of the right and the pettiness of the left trying to fear tactic you into submitting to their fringe ideologies and push you in that direction, that in the midst of that, we can forget that there's a greater battle for this nation.
And in the selfish pursuit of our own ideologies and to seeing right, we lose sight of the greater picture, which is that we need to either, I mean, come on, it's like Trump or you get Trump or the other people.
Name them and it's like, oh, cool.
It's like, you want a fake Indian as your president, you know?
It's like, seriously, Pocahontas was good in Disney.
Don't need it again as my president.
You know, and we know that the left is honest in their fight against old white people because the two leaders, frontrunners are two old white people on the left, Biden and Sanders.
And it's really, really interesting for me to look at this, is that as we go into this, what are you in this for?
And if you keep sight of that, if you continue in that, you can be used as an instrument to help listen to the ideas of everyone, whether they're in the middle or not, whether they're on the far right or far left or not.
If you know what your goal is and you focus down on it and you live in that reality, then fear means nothing.
Because the end result of this country, if Donald Trump does not get elected, in my opinion, we're in a very bad position.
And I wish I didn't have to say that.
I wish our country was in a better place, that there was somebody that I could sit here and say, damn, this is a tough decision.
But if you see who's running today, they're not even rocking, walking, they're limping.
I mean, they are not on their feet.
They're on their knees.
They're begging for mercy.
I hope Hillary Clinton joins the race.
Anybody?
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, oh, yeah.
But I want to say that on there, and I'm going to pass it over to Austin, but I want you to keep that mindset that as the ants come in, remember that you're a man.
And just because ants are many, sometimes they'll descend upon you on social media and storm.
They'll pop out of the middle of nowhere, create these ideas, and you can get distracted.
But as a man, remember, these are ants.
They're small.
They're vast, but I'm greater, I'm bigger, and I'm going to press past this.
And we unite together to not infight and internally tear each other apart.
Always being critical, open to criticism.
Answer all questions.
Be willing to refute any of your ideas.
I'm for that, 150%.
But also realizing when questions aren't asked in good faith, when they're not asked, people aren't asking you questions to try to get you to think.
They're trying to push their ideologies upon you to change your mind towards their dogma.
I always thought that ants is the only place where communism has worked.
They kind of got to a working model of communism.
Yeah, I totally agree.
The stakes could not be higher right now.
I think we all kind of feel it going into 2020.
Like, we're kind of boiling up to, it's coming to a head here, and it's really going to be about what we do interpersonally.
I feel like the media makes it seem like we're so far removed from the news.
The news needs to come out of the mouth of someone making $20 million a year.
It needs to come through a camera that's super expensive in a studio that costs millions of bucks too.
And we think that we're so far removed from the truth, and we have to receive the truth from somebody.
But in reality, I think the 2020 election is going to be won by people in this room, people like us who are just normal people who can positively represent what it means to be on the right or conservative or wherever you fall.
Anyone who's not progressive left, all those people, if we can positively represent the non-progressive left, we're going to win over our friends who don't really follow politics.
That's going to be the name of the game.
I think the way it's framed right now, we think we have to make the left convert to the right, when in reality, all we have to do is get the people in the middle who don't follow to kind of care a little bit.
And I think a lot of the clips that Elijah showed from Portland are like, that's a perfect example of how we can wake up our friends and red pill our friends.
We show them things that the media has lied about on a grand scale.
And that's like lighting a candle in a dark room.
Like you can't really go back to how dark it was before.
When you kind of open someone's mind to it, that's kind of what our advantage is.
It's going to be, you guys know that game, Hungry, Hungry Hippos, where you'd slam the thing and get the marbles.
That's basically what 2020 is going to be.
It's going to be the progressive left who's going to try to hungry hungry hippos by keeping people asleep.
And it's going to be us by trying to red pill people and get them awake.
So the good news for us is that the truth will win in the end.
I do believe we're on the right side of history.
I do believe the truth will prevail.
And I think it's kind of a matter of good versus evil right now.
And evil is so close to winning because evil seeks power.
But I think good will win in the end because good in powers.
So that feeling you got when you first woke up to politics, if you followed it or not, you know, for me, for example, when I first discovered Andrew Breitbart, when I first discovered some Ben Shapiro videos, when I first discovered the SJW cringe comps, when I first went down that rabbit hole, I was like, oh my God, I've been lied to.
I've been deceived.
I was asleep.
I was embarrassed.
And that feeling of shame kind of ignited my drive to kind of find out the truth.
I was, you know, I realized, hey, I've been lied to on a huge scale.
What's really going on?
And once you light that fuse within somebody, they don't go back to sleep.
So it's going to be a matter of how many people can we bring to the rabbit hole.
You can't push them down it.
You've got to bring them to it.
And then they'll do it themselves.
And then let them go down the rabbit hole.
Let them figure out who they like on the right or in the middle or even center left at this point.
That's going to be the name of the game.
It's going to be us interpersonally, you know, interacting with people in our lives, our friends, our family, whoever, and just being a positive representation of the movement.
Because once you do that, then they can't say, oh yeah, no, the right people, they're not all Nazis.
They're not all white supremacists.
My friend in my class, he's pretty cool.
And he voted for Trump.
That's going to be kind of the name of the game going forward.
Because the way it is now, they just want to keep us in the dark.
They just want to keep us in a state of chaos and confusion, unsure, looking up, hey, where do we go?
What should we do?
What should we follow?
And when you listen to the celebrities, you listen to athletes, whoever, they'll lead you in the direction that the powerful want you to be led in.
But when you can expose these people, like for example, the whole thing with the NBA in China, when you can expose things like that, people lose trust and they actually go out of their way to prove the opposite.
They say, hey, what else have we been lied to about?
What else are they wrong about?
Oh, they're doing that because of this.
And then these people are being manipulated by these people.
And they kind of go down that rabbit hole.
So it's just a matter of taking that first step and being the first to stand up, kind of like the I am Spartacus moment that Corey Booker thought he had.
We all kind of need to do that ourselves.
And if we do, it's going to be a lot easier for everyone else.
And it's just the hardest is the first step.
Because once one person does it, the next person will do it.
And then they're going to realize, hey, they're the silent majority for a reason.
They are the majority.
This is what we're up against.
You can't just blanket label people with empty accusations anymore.
As we transition into some Q ⁇ A, I want to say that this idea of they want you to be afraid is kind of one of the reasons why we're transitioning to the Q ⁇ A. We're not afraid of questions, right?
And sometimes you have to be not afraid of just admitting you don't know something.
You don't have to be God.
I believe that an important foundation of this country is understanding God.
I think that even if you don't believe in him, I think understanding the important framework of having morals and values in a society that originate from a common truth is extremely vital to the health of a nation.
But what I want to say is, you know, there was a, speaking of God, there's a theologian that I follow.
Her name is Greta Thunberg.
You ever heard of her?
Ultimate say-so.
She famously said in 1742 in an abbey in Denmark, she said, how dare you?
No, but, you know, speaking of her, Greta Thunberg, if you're not aware of who she is, she's the little pigtail girl with, yeah, mentally ill, exactly.
Sorry, Michael Knowles, but you know, a mentally ill young girl who her parents have said she's mentally ill.
It's not a negative thing to be mentally ill.
It's a real issue in our country.
She has autism, which is fine.
People have autism in this room.
It's not like a negative thing.
It's just here she is.
She is currently someone who's being used right now as this you can't attack kids thing.
And one of the fear tactics that I want to go on, I want to leave you with this, is be always aware of the scapegoats that are being used to prevent you from being able to make sound and fair arguments.
Remember, I mean, we had David Hogg.
Remember David Hogg?
Yes, there I was.
The world was ending.
Climate change had taken its place.
All right, that's a really sad statement.
Those of you that get that, wow, memes are powerful.
David Hogg is not.
He's the kid from Parkland, and God bless his soul.
I don't think that being at a national event of a tragedy is anything to take lightly, but it also doesn't give you an authority on something.
Just because you've witnessed something doesn't mean you're an expert on it, right?
It's like if you talk about drag kids' story time and you don't want men flashing their crotches to children.
That really did happen.
And Drag Queen Storytime has child predators and they're teaching kids how to twerk.
You can watch all these videos and you go, I didn't want my kids seeing a man's crotch, and if I did, I would move to Hollywood and just walk down the streets and see the homeless everywhere.
Seriously, public masturbation is becoming a big problem in LA.
But you go, it really is.
It really is.
Trust me.
Three times, one time, three times in like a month, my wife saw it and she was like, I can't do it anymore.
Seriously, she's.
Yeah, it's very dark.
But I want to say, I want to end on this, is that these people are going to do whatever they can to instill fear.
And if they can't instill fear, they're going to make you seem like an evil person.
And like you said earlier about the body and abortion thing, if you say, well, I'm not for abortion, they go, oh, so you're against women.
And you go, I've never been against women.
That's not the argument to make.
Just do what Greta says and say, how dare you?
Now, actually answer them and say, I reject the premise of your entire statement.
I'm not going to respond to foolishness.
Rephrase the question in a way that's intellectually honest.
You say, I'm not engaging in intellectual dishonesty.
I think that's where the right's getting scared a little bit today when they're getting tripped up with each other with not knowing how to engage new ideas and stuff.
If you feel like somebody's coming in bad faith to you, if you feel like somebody's trying to trap you, if you feel like someone in the left is trying to make you look bad, then just call it out.
Say, are you asking me this in good faith?
Do you really care about my answer?
Do you really want to have a good conversation?
Do you really want to make an attempt to make connection and to make progress?
Do you want to change my mind and maybe have yours changed a little bit?
In that case, let's talk about anything.
But also be aware of the traps, right?
They throw Greta out so that people get suspended for speaking out against her.
There was a day where if you tagged her in the post, you basically got your account suspended.
I'm not even joking, because you were attacking a child.
Not to mention she's on the floor of the UN, trying to lobby for sanctions against major world countries, conveniently forgetting China and India, the biggest polluters in the world.
But why do they use her?
It's to make you afraid to speak out.
unidentified
So before you just go, I'm fearless, F you, Greta.
Remember, she's still a kid with autism, and now you just made fun of a little kid with autism.
So know what they're going to respond to you, right?
Know what's coming and be preemptive in the way that you fight back.
Always know how the enemy is going to strike you in return before you speak.
Not so that you're afraid, but so that you tread with caution and you know your enemy better than they know you.
And that's what I want to say with fear.
There's those two levels of just being fearless, but pairing that with being smart.
You can go out guns blazing.
You can get into fist fights.
You can do whatever you want.
I don't think that's the best method in the world, out in the world.
I think the way that we continue to fight is by going harder and stronger with sticking to that common plan with facts on our side, knowing that truth sets us all free.
And honestly, speaking, I kind of, to make it personal here, I know it's easier to just go back into the world and to just stop talking about politics.
It's so much easier with people to just stop talking about the president.
You can just go about with so much ease by just avoiding all of this stuff.
But I want you to remember every day, I really want you to remember, and this is not just a weird statement, I really want you to think about this.
Do you know how people have given their lives in this country to continue the cycle and the fight to keep this nation and the ideas that it stands for alive?
Do you know how many politicians and people have tried and failed?
Do you know how many people before you have worked to keep the state of the union strong, even in the Civil War?
And because you get tired, I'm just tired of these same memes on Instagram.
Like, I'm just tired of this.
You're tired of the same memes.
Somebody said a mean word to you?
People have given their lives.
Today people are living with limbs blown off to fight for the American ideal and the dream of what it means to live in this great country.
