Now, I'm going to talk about climate change.
I know it gets boring, but you know the reason it is so important is that everything they want, this dystopia, Virtually all of it is being justified by the danger of climate change.
And as I said in a Dot Connect a couple of weeks ago when I was with Jamie in Parliament Square in London, all you really need to do is, because fossil fuels are the foundation of the society that we know, the Industrial Revolution, all of it, All you have to do is set this zero emissions target to transform human society, what they call net zero.
So if fossil fuels are the foundation of your society, Then if you set a target, net zero, to basically eliminate them on anything like the scale that they're being used now, by definition, a society built on fossil fuels must be transformed by deleting them.
And that is why the net zero is being set.
To transform society has nothing to do with the environment.
Anyway, the reason I raise it this week is, you know, the Starmer government in Britain, and it will be the same around the world, Daniel Andrews in Victoria during COVID, Australia, I rest my case on that one.
The Starmer government is full of people who are complete Morons!
I don't know the word for it.
There's Ed Miliband, who's the Minister for Energy and Net Zero.
I mean, the man is... Oh dear!
I mean, talk about having an intelligence bypass.
But there's another guy called David Lammy, who is also infamous over the years.
for, let's say, having a challenging level of intelligence.
And he's now Foreign Secretary.
And what he's done this week, he said, as Foreign Secretary, the whole foundation of my office and my department
is going to focus on the dangers of climate change, human-caused climate change.
And what that means is we're going to set about Hysterically, you'll see advancing this agenda of transforming human society for a threat, a danger that doesn't actually exist.
This is Lammy talking this week and there's very little that leaves his lips that is anything other than disinformation.
Let's take migration.
We are already seeing that climate change is uprooting communities across the world.
And by 2050, the World Bank's worst-case estimate is that climate change could drive 200 million people to leave their homes.
Or we could take health.
The World Health Organization says climate change is now the biggest threat to human health.
We saw in the pandemic how quickly an infectious disease could spread from animals to humans and then from a city the other side of the world to here in Britain.
This becomes only more likely as the climate and nature crisis grows.
And this crisis threatens the things we take most for granted from the food that we eat.
to the air that we breathe. But despite all of this, there remains a tendency for climate and
nature policy to end up siloed. Too often it's felt the preserve of experts and campaigners,
fluent in sometimes the impenetrable dialect of cops, but distant from others working on
foreign policy and on national security. And that has to change. Don't get me wrong,
we absolutely need campaigners like those in this room or experts like those working here at Q.
And I'm grateful to them all.
But today I'm committing to you that while I am Foreign Secretary, action on the climate and nature crisis will be central to all that the Foreign Office does.
This is critical given the scale of the threat, but also the scale of the opportunity.
The chance to achieve clean and secure energy, lower bills and drive growth for the UK.
And to preserve the natural world around us on which all prosperity ultimately depends.
So that's David Lammy talking this week about this Starmer government's absolute hysterical obsession with deleting fossil fuels.
And he talks there about protecting nature when he and Miliband and Starmer want to want to destroy nature, the seascapes and the landscapes, with enormous solar farms, solar fields, solar energy fields and wind turbines, that's going to devastate the landscape and the seascape of Britain and turn it into a technological bloody nightmare.
And, of course, wind turbines use a lot of fossil fuels, but we won't mention that.
And I raise this now not just because of Lammy's speech, but because of an article I saw in the New York Post And it's written by Bjorn Lomborg, who is the president of the Copenhagen Consensus, visiting fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution, and author of a book called False Alarm.
And what he's doing here is Just demolishing the whole premise of climate change caused by humans that is being used as the excuse to absolutely transform human society into a dystopia.
A 15-minute city community, no cars, no vehicles for the general population.
Dystopia.
So, we'll start with what he says about sea level rises.
Do you remember when the cabinet of the government of the Maldives had a cabinet meeting under water?
Right?
Here's some pictures of it.
I mean, talk about insulting your intelligence.
They had this cabinet meeting underwater to highlight the dangers to the Maldives of human-caused, climate-change-caused sea rises and what have you.
He's been promoted, too, by this guy, the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, who flew all the way to Tuvalu for a Time magazine cover shot.
Wearing a suit, he stood up to his thighs in the water, demonstrating our sinking planet.
You will also recall, I'm sure, that Guterres has described the Earth as boiling.
He obviously has not been in Britain this summer.
Anyway, this is what Lomborg says.
This summer, The New York Times finally shared what it called surprising climate news.
Almost all atoll islands are increasing in size.
I've put this in my books over the years.
Sea levels rising, the islands are getting bigger.
And in fact, the scientific literature has documented this trend for more than a decade, hence it was in my books over the years.
Now, how many people know that?
Oh no, sea levels are rising!
It's good and we're all gonna drown!
Then there's polar bears.
He talks about polar bears.
Polar bears were the money shot of the climate manipulation and lies because polar bears were going to die out and we must save the polar bears.
So here's a BBC report from four years ago giving the official story and then we'll come to what's really happening.
They are the poster species for climate change.
Predators that depend on a fragile, transient hunting ground, the Arctic sea ice.
And this study has shown that polar bears' survival is tied to that ice.
The scientists used models based on satellite data to forecast sea ice decline in the Arctic over the coming decades.
That enabled them to predict a future tipping point to create a timeline for when the frozen hunting season will be too short for the bears to fatten up before the summer.
At the current rate of warming, the researchers say all but a few polar bear populations will collapse before 2100.
With less fat, they're entering a fasting season that's longer than it used to be.
So is that now unavoidable?
Are we already on that trajectory to just lose polar bears?
The trajectory that we're on now is not a good one.
But if society gets its act together globally, we can halt global to save polar bears.
And if we do, we'll benefit the rest of life on Earth, including ourselves.
The consequences of climate change are already playing out in the Arctic landscape.
And this new timeline, the researchers say, is a stark reminder that the survival
of an entire species is at stake.
Okay, that's the BBC version, which goes without saying, but I will,
that we should treat it with skepticism.
Anyway, this is what Lomborg says.
And then, after he points out the Washington Post warned that polar bears faced extinction, and the World Wildlife Fund's chief scientist even claimed some polar bear populations would be unable to reproduce by 2012.
And then, in the 2010s, Lomborg says, campaigners just stopped talking about polar bears.
Why?
Well, this is why.
Because after years of misrepresentation, it finally became impossible for them to ignore a mountain of evidence showing that the global polar bear population has increased substantially from around 12,000 in the 1960s to around 26,000 in present day.
And the main reason for that is people are hunting a lot less polar bears.
It wasn't climate change that was doing them and affecting their numbers.
It was hunting.
And then is another one.
I've written about this in the books as well.
The Great Barrier Reef of Australia.
It says here, Lomborg, the same thing has happened with depictions of Australia's Great Barrier Reef.
For decades, campaigners shouted that the reef was being killed off by rising sea temperatures.
After extensive damage from a hurricane in 2009, official Australian estimates of coral cover reached a low in 2012.
The media was flooded with claims of the Great Reef Catastrophe, And scientists predicted the reef would be decimated by 2022.
The Guardian even published an obituary to the Great Barrier Reef.
And here's a report.
It's from seven years ago on America's PBS network about how the Great Barrier Reef was done for.
Half the size of Texas, spanning 1,400 miles, Australia's Great Barrier Reef is the largest living structure on the planet.
It is rich in beauty and diversity, but it is dying as the ocean waters steadily warm.
It's a very confronting situation, and I hope the people of the world take this as a call to action to do more about climate change.
Coral Reef Ecologist David Wachenfeld is Director for Reef Recovery at the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority.
It's the second consecutive summer of extensive coral destruction, or bleaching, on the reef.
We are using aerial surveys and underwater surveys to try and cover that whole enormous area of the Great Barrier Reef to get a handle on the extent and severity of the event.
But certainly this year is shaping up to be another very bad year as was last year.
Last year, two-thirds of the corals in the northern part of the Great Barrier Reef died, the worst die-off in history.
As for this year, it is too early to tell, but the outlook is grim, as this is one big piece of an unprecedented global coral crisis.
Now, what's the truth?
What's the reality?
Lomborg The latest official statistics show a completely different picture.
You do surprise me.
Sits back in amazement.
Can't believe it.
For the past three years, the Great Barrier Reef has had more coral cover than at any point since records began in
1985, with 2024 setting a new record.
The good news gets a fraction of the coverage that the scare stories did.
I do wonder why.
Mystery.
All these misguided claims add up and have shaped the climate panic, Lomborg says, that has led to politicians passing climate legislation that now costs the world more than two trillion dollars annually for a tiny benefit.
I'm sure that'll make the pensioners in England who've lost their winter fuel allowance, thanks to Starmer's government, I'm sure that'll make them feel really good inside.
And then you've got killer heatwaves.
Today, killer heatwaves are the new scare story.
Endlessly.
And the latest example of willful blindness of the bigger picture.
Recently, President Biden claimed extreme heat is the number one weather-related killer in the United States.
And as Lomberg says, he's wrong by a factor of 25.
While extreme heat annually kills nearly 6,000 people, cold kills 152,000 people.
152,000 people, Americans, not just, not globally, Americans each year, of which 12,000 died
from extreme cold.
Age-standardized extreme heat deaths have actually declined in the US.
by almost 10% per decade, and globally by even more, largely because people who are more prosperous afford air conditioners.
And deaths from natural disasters... Oh, look at the natural disasters!
We're all gonna die!
It's climate change!
The deaths from natural disasters have absolutely plummeted.
So you see what it's all about.
It's not about dangers to the planet.
It's about selling a policy of removing fossil fuels to transform human society.
That has to do so.
And blaming everything on climate change, even though it's completely natural and has happened many times before.
Oh, it's hot, isn't it?
It's climate change, that is!
Oh, it's bloody cold, isn't it?
Climate change, that is!
It's climate change, global warming!
And so it goes on.
And every single, even barely, Extreme weather event.
Climate change, that is.
It's just like everything is in this conspiracy.
It's a perceptual manipulation scam.
