The greatest thing I have ever heard in my whole life.
I could not believe my ears.
In this house, wherever the rules are disregarded, chaos and mob rule.
It has been said today, where is bravery?
I'll tell you where bravery is found and courage is found.
It's found in this minority who has lived through the last year of nothing but rules being broken, people being put down, questions not being answered, and this majority say, be damned with anything else.
We're going to impeach and do whatever we want to do.
Why?
Because we won an election.
I guarantee you, one day you'll be back in the minority and it ain't gonna be that fun.
Alright folks, welcome to the Doug Collins Podcast.
My name is Chip Lake.
It's been a couple weeks since I've been on the show, but it's good to be back.
I'll be guest hosting today for Doug, who is out of pocket.
And it is Wednesday, June 5th.
It's hard to believe Memorial Day is in the rearview mirror, but we got a good...
Good show for you guys today.
James will be joining us after the break.
I wasn't here on Monday when Kip and Terry filled in and no doubt addressed the verdict coming out of New York City.
Alvin Bragg And his crew and his hand-picked jury convicted former President Trump on all counts.
Not a surprise.
Thought there might be a hung jury on one or two counts, but not really a jury of his peers.
So we'll briefly talk about that.
I know that was covered on Friday and on Monday, but I want to talk about kind of how it parallels into what is going on this week in Delaware, in federal court in Delaware, where Hunter Biden is facing trial.
Jury selection started on Monday.
Opening statements started yesterday.
Witnesses were called, so we're going to talk about that a little bit.
This Hunter Biden's a character, man.
I'm telling you, James is not going to talk about it.
I'm not sure he's the best defendant for Abby Lowell, the defense attorney, but we'll get into that.
And then I won't be here on Friday for Friday's Finest, so we're going to talk a little bit about all the Caitlin Clark Situation going on in the WNBA. And then after a long break and a vacuum that Caitlin Clark and Channity Carter have filled in WNBA, the NBA Finals finally begins tomorrow night.
So, uh, When Kemp and Terry and James are back with you on Friday's Finest in two days, you'll be able to talk a little bit about game one of that series between the Boston Celtics and the Dallas Mavericks.
But stick with us.
We'll be right back after the break and we'll go ahead and get started.
We're experiencing instability at every level.
Our government lacks leadership, and Bidenomics has been a disaster.
The economy is in a fragile state.
Inflation has been a consistent issue.
High interest rates have put significant pressure on the real estate market, and there have been major bank failures, and many analysts say a stock market correction is likely overdue.
We have global conflicts in Europe and the Middle East that have potential to spread, but gold has soared to record highs even among the tensions.
There are so many reasons that Americans should consider investments in gold and silver, and Legacy Precious Metals is the gold standard.

Okay, folks, thanks for joining us.
I want to, as I said before the break, I want to talk just briefly, I don't want to beat a dead horse, but, you know, Proving that you can not only indict a ham sandwich, you can also convict a ham sandwich.
I don't know that anybody has ever been...
Convicted in a criminal court of law for paying off one of their mistresses that they had an affair with, and by doing so was convicted of 32 federal counts.
But is it really a surprise?
We know that the Democrats and the court systems and district attorneys and even special prosecutors and U.S. attorneys all over this country are out to put Donald Trump in prison.
And this was the first case of four that the former president had faced.
This one's in the rearview mirror except for the appellate face.
And in what was largely considered the weakest case of the four, the jury ended up convicting President Trump.
Not so sure it was a jury of his peers.
I think Donald Trump lost You know, lost Manhattan by, I mean, 85-15, so can you really call it a jury of his peers?
It was a political trial.
It had the result that everybody kind of intended, but it's ironic that the end of that trial coincides with the beginning this week of the federal case Against Hunter Biden.
And so let me, before I kind of set the table on what's happening this week and what to expect with that, I want to welcome to the podcast, James.
James, I know you were out of town for a couple weeks traveling in Italy, and I know you produced Monday's podcast with my good friend and Terry Quillian.
And so welcome back.
Welcome back.
But I understand Even after you returned from across the pond, you decided to get in the car and continue your travels.
Nice 12-hour drive to Denver yesterday.
And I still worked on the road.
It's amazing how incredible I can be at any time.
Well, I hope you worked up.
I was going to say, I hope you weren't driving and working.
I hope you had help.
No, no, no.
I stopped for half a second.
It's incredible what you can do with a mobile hotspot.
Oh, it absolutely is.
It's just, I mean, in any phone concern, I have a hotspot.
I have an AT&T, you know, kind of an AirCard is what we call it.
But now you can just connect any cell phone and you can, you know, you can stream with that.
So as long as I get a cell phone, I don't even need a hotspot.
Yeah, it's incredible.
So before we continue, and I'm ready to get into the Hunter Biden stuff, which I think is going to be kind of funny, but I was in Italy, and there's obviously a major time difference.
I think it's like eight or nine, seven hours New York, six where I was in Dallas the other day.
And I'm about to get on the plane first thing in the morning.
I got a 12-hour ride home.
And I open up my phone and I just see Trump has been convicted.
And I just went, I have to come back to work.
Yes.
For a conservative network.
Yes.
To this.
And then I just see the emails coming in.
I was like, oh, God, my job just got so much more.
I have more work to do, but I have more.
It obviously makes for good content regardless.
It makes for tremendous content.
The irony is I was...
I was on an airplane last week when the verdict came in.
I was traveling from Boston back to Atlanta, and we had a late afternoon flight.
And on any of those airplanes now, as I'm sure you had as well on your way Back from Italy, you have a TV screen in front of you that's right behind the headrest of the person in front of you.
When you're traveling domestically, Delta gives you the opportunity to tune into whatever channel you want.
You can watch movies on demand.
You can play games.
You can watch CNN, Fox News, ESPN. And so I was just curious.
I really didn't think the jury would come up.
They had asked a lot of questions on the second day of deliberations to the judge, and it was on Thursday.
And so I didn't think they were going to come up with their verdict.
And I had just heard that...
It was like 4.10 and just heard that the judge was going to dismiss the jury at 4.30.
And so I said, all right, well, you know, it's good.
So I'll get some work done.
I'll kind of return some emails on Wi-Fi and just turned it on to ESPN, you know, kind of had some earbuds in, but was good.
I'm kind of half listening.
And then all of a sudden, I was on the window seat and as the flight attendants are coming down the aisle asking you if you want a soda or peanuts or cookies or something, I just kind of look over and everybody's TVs are on national news.
Wait, I thought the jury was dismissed.
You missed the live broadcast, brother.
I was like, ah, geez.
I mean, here we go.
Here we go again.
Here we go again.
In the Trump trial, James, the prosecution, Alvin Bragg's team kind of let the jury know on more than one occasion that they don't really...
You know, they don't get to pick their witnesses, right?
I mean, witnesses are witnesses and they're witnesses for a reason because they have material information that pertains to the case.
And so, you know, Michael Cohen You know, was not the greatest of witnesses, right?
Yeah, kind of, you know, been proven to be a liar, and he had an axe to grind against Donald Trump.
The same can be said for Abby Lowell, who was the defense attorney in Wilmington, Delaware, this week in federal court, who has a defendant by the name of Hunter Biden.
And Hunter Biden, as everybody knows, is the son of President Biden.
And Abby Lowell didn't pick Hunter Biden out of Defendants 101 either.
Let me set the table for what's going on this week.
And probably in the next week, probably a two or three week trial.
It looked like Hunter Biden and Abby Lowell about four or five months ago had an agreement with the prosecution that they were going to plea bargain.
And then the judge at the plea bargain hearing You know, said to both the prosecution and the defense, hey, I mean, does this plea bargain on the gun charge, does this prohibit any prosecution in the future on any other charges?
The prosecution said no, it doesn't.
The defense said, wait a second, that's the deal.
We're only pleading to this so that we can get rid of that other stuff.
And the disconnect there at that hearing meant that...
How do you get that wrong, though?
How do you get that wrong?
It's kind of a big deal.
How do you not know?
I guess whose fault is that, right?
Because if you're the defendant, right?
In writing, it should say, if we go with this...
These are dropped.
How is that even?
110%.
So let me tell you what Hunter Biden is facing and what he's charged with.
So he's charged with one count of making false statements in a firearm purchase.
Another count of making false statements related to information required to be kept by the licensed firearm dealer.
And one count of possession of a firearm by a person who is an unlawful user or addicted to a controlled substance.
So if he's found guilty on all charges, he can face a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison, which we all know is highly unlikely, if not impossible.
Each count also carries a maximum of a fine of $250,000 and three years of supervised release.
According to the indictment, Hunter Biden bought a Colt Cobra revolver on October 12, 2018. And then knowingly made a false and fictitious written statement intended and likely to deceive the dealer with respect to the fact material to the lawlessness of the sale of the firearm,
meaning he was certifying that he was a lawful user of, he was not an unlawful user of, and addicted to any stimulant, Now, James, I'm not a firearms dealer, okay?
I don't deal in that space.
But if Hunter Biden ever walks into a gun store and says- Sounds like the beginning of a bad joke.
This guy's been in rehab eight times.
Eight times he's been in rehab.
He's been in rehab eight times.
One of the One of the people who the prosecution is going to call as a defendant is a lady by the name of Zoe Keston, who is one of Hunter Biden's mistresses over the years.
Hunter Biden had a long marriage to his first wife.
They had, I think, two or three children.
And then they divorced largely because of Hunter's substance abuse problems.
And he ended up having an affair With his dead brother's wife or widow.
You can't make this stuff up.
Very cool guy.
Another woman who is romantically involved with Hunter Biden is identified by prosecutors as witness number two, and she is slated to testify.
According to prosecutors, she will say that she saw Biden use crack every 20 minutes, except when he slept.
So when he was sleeping, he wouldn't wake up every 20 minutes and do crap.
Can I ask a question?
Yes, sir.
We already know he's a drug addict.
We know he's a drug addict.
If he's been to rehab eight times, which, God bless that rehab center, But if he's been to rehab eight times, why do you need someone to testify that he does crack?
I'm not trying to be like, I just don't understand.
Well, I suppose the answer is it's the timing of when he was using the crack, right?
Okay.
Because Abby Lowell, who's his defense attorney, he said that in the opening statement, he said that the gun was an impulse buy.
Listen to this.
He listened to this.
You can't believe it.
It was an impulse buy while Biden was getting a new cell phone nearby.
I love this country.
And therefore, he might not, because he was buying a new cell phone nearby, that he might not have been paying much attention to the form and that the store's employees were rushing him.
So, obviously, the gun store, probably right next to the cell phone store.
Wait, before we continue, I just want to say yesterday on my drive here...
Good old real part of Texas I was driving through.
There was a store and it just had a sign that said guns and chicken.
It's my new favorite sign.
I'm going to get that tattooed on my neck.
The greatest thing I've ever seen.
So I'm assuming that he was at the same store that said guns and cell phones.
And that's where he got it.
But here's my question.
Again, I don't know how much you know about the case.
I only know what you're telling me.
So you're telling me that this man bought a gun.
He wasn't recognized, which good on the gun owner for not having social media, because that's the only way you can't recognize this guy.
Because by the way, before you go, his father was, I believe, no, I was going to say his father was not vice president at the time.
He had just done, Trump was in there, but yes, go ahead.
I mean, it's not like his father was vice president of the United States two years early.
Yeah.
Why is he buying a gun in any capacity whatsoever?
He doesn't need to buy it.
Anyone could buy him a gun and hand it to him.
So how did this go down that he got caught with the gun and why is it becoming a case?
Well, he's been under investigation.
He's a shady character, right?
Sure.
Under investigation for a million things.
I know that.
Not only with drugs and women.
With the money in China.
And money in China.
But that's it.
It all stems from investigations into other alleged crimes.
And then that led to this...
Which is something they're going to tag him for.
It gets better.
It gets better.
So Hunter Biden went on to write a book about his addiction.
And not only did he write a book about his addiction, but he provided the voice on the audio book of his book.
So on opening statements in the hearing yesterday, James, the prosecutor played 37 minutes of Hunter Biden in his own words, talking about his addiction and his timeline around his addiction.
So, look, I'm not a gun dealer.
I'm not a defense attorney.
Thankfully, I'm not a drug addict.
But I think Abby Lowell has his work cut out for him on this case.
What do you think?
Oh, my God, could you imagine that you're trying to be like, no, no, no, trust me, I wasn't on drugs during this time.
Not a problem.
And then the prosecutor just walks over and just hits play, and it's your own voice.
Yeah, it's kind of a problem.
You might as well have written, If I Did It by O.J. Simpson.
As if it's not bad enough, it gets worse.
Okay, let me read you this.
Prosecutors also plan to call Catherine Buell, who was married to Hunter Biden from 1993 to 2017 and has three daughters with him.
Throughout 2018, according to prosecutors, Buell would search Biden's car because she, quote, she did not want their children in a vehicle with drugs, which is completely understandable.
I mean, they had kids and you absolutely want to go the same way.
Your ex-husband in the car that he's going to be transporting, the kids that you share with him.
He's not bringing crap with him.
That's right.
Those are simple principles.
That's exactly right.
She said she found drugs or drug paraphernalia at least 12 times in court filings.
But here, it gets better or worse, whichever way you want to look at it.
Buell's testimony could include details of the problems that his addiction caused to his family.
It won't be the first time opening up about her marriage because, James, In 2022, comma, not only did Hunter Biden write a book, but his ex-wife wrote a book, and it's titled, quote, If We Break, A Memoir of Marriage Addiction and Healing.
So now, There are two books, two books, not one, but two from both people in the marriage that talks about all of his addiction and Abby Lowell is gonna defend a case and his best argument is He was distracted because he had to go buy a cell phone.
So he was out.
He just decided to buy a gun and they were rushing him with paperwork.
Lowell gets paid either way, right?
Lowell gets paid either way.
There's no way.
I'm not saying that Hunter Biden's not going to jail.
He's not going to jail.
I'm just trying to imagine that you pick up this case, and you then find out that there are two books, one in the voice of your own guy, and you're going through all these things, and they have a million people working on this, and one guy raised his hand and was like, we could say he was distracted by his cell phone.
And you're like, that's it.
That's what we're going to have to go with because...
We're going with that.
We're going with that.
That's the best strategy.
I'm crying.
This is the best case.
I wish I was in that room to just watch that guy hit play.
Well, it gets better.
He said, so evidently the gun forms, you can be addicted to alcohol, an alcoholic, but you cannot be That needs to change, okay?
It probably doesn't.
Abby Lowell then went on to say, as if to kind of shadow what the defense is going to be, he basically said giving up drugs for Hunter Biden was not easy, but giving up alcohol was even harder.
So basically what Lowell's saying is...
What Lowell's saying is, my client had taken a break from drugs when he went to buy that cell phone, but he was drunk!
I mean, and so, anyway, and look...
If I'm ever getting defended, I'm going to this guy because he can think of anything.
So, you know, Lowell, James, in all seriousness, the irony...
It does illustrate kind of where our country is right now with respect to how the criminal justice system is being used for political purposes, because the Democrats are saying And I think they have a pretty good argument, a lot of them, is that, you know, he's only being prosecuted because he's the president's son and he's Hunter Biden.
But in the same breath, you know, they were not saying the same thing last week in a Manhattan courtroom, and you can't have it both ways.
And so the reason that I thought it would be good to kind of talk about the federal trial going on in Delaware, and by the way, He bought the gun in Delaware.
I mean, the Biden name in Delaware.
I mean, every federal building in Wilmington is named Biden.
It's not like he bought it in San Francisco.
He bought it in Delaware.
So it's not like you don't know when somebody comes in and they show you their driver's license, who that guy is.
Is the seller at fault here?
No, not at all.
And the seller is not on trial and the seller has not been accused of any wrongdoing.
And the seller is...
That seems kind of insane.
Although I'm sure they're going to call the seller as a witness.
They're going to have to.
I mean, the dude sold a gun to somebody who clearly shouldn't have anything in his hand, let alone a gun.
And his name is everywhere.
Anyway, yeah, let's...
All I got to say is I hope...
And pray that I am never on the wrong side of the United States criminal justice system as a defendant in a criminal trial.
And I have not been so far.
God help, I never do.
But if I do find myself there, I'm going to look into Abby Lowell defendant.
Oh yeah.
See whatever he can think of.
Let's change gears.
We beat a dead horse, no pun intended.
We could talk for hours about Hunter Biden and his escape.
But we'll talk about a couple things before we kind of wrap it up today and then kind of set up the show for Friday.
But, James, one of the criticisms of the NBA playoffs is how long it is.
I mean, the Atlanta Hawks, my hometown team, You know, they didn't make it to the playoffs this year.
They almost did.
They were a couple games out.
And they struggled.
They didn't make it.
Do you know when they played their last regular season game?
April 7th.
Close.
April 14th.
Sunday, April 14th.
So, the Atlanta Hawks and the rest of the NBA teams that did not make it to the playoffs...
Have been...
Yeah, I mean, here it is.
Game one of the NBA Finals, James, is tomorrow.
Tomorrow night in Boston.
And if this series goes seven games, game seven won't be until the 23rd of June.
Now, Chip, here's the thing, though.
Had the prior two series go to game sevens, we'd all be happy.
Because we need Game 7s.
Game 7s make life better than...
I mean, Game 7 is the greatest moment in the history of the sport.
Talk to LeBron James in the 2016 Finals.
But because there is the opportunity for that not to happen, you have this layoff, which I assume we're going to talk about what happened during the layoff right now.
We are.
And I will let you set it up.
Very rarely...
In fact, I'm going to go out and say it's never happened before.
Forget very rarely.
This is the first time it's ever happened.
Never.
Where the WNBA, there was a void because both of the conference championship, the East and the West, four games.
They're incredibly boring.
And so we've had a, I think by the time they start playing tomorrow's game, they will have eight days of rest.
It's absurd.
And so there has been a vacuum created by the WNBA. Which doesn't normally happen, but I can't say it's something that we didn't see.
I think we talked, you know, at the end of the college basketball season about how, you know, how Caitlin Clark was about to enter the WNBA. She'd be the number one pick.
That's all anyone was talking about.
What's that?
That's all anyone's been talking about.
That's all anyone was talking about.
And then we knew what a miserable...
I think we talked...
I think there was even one show where we talked about what a miserable experience it was for because, look, the WNBA is known for being a very progressive sports league.
Very progressive.
The NBA is the same way.
They're very progressive.
And they probably wouldn't argue that, right?
I mean, that wouldn't be...
That wouldn't be an allegation that was disputed.
A lot of them embrace it.
Kaitlyn Clark is white.
She is straight.
And she played college basketball at the University of Iowa.
And she's really good, James.
She's really, really good.
And so we knew there would be, you put all of those factors together.
I think we knew we would be in this position.
But we got in this position in between the conference finals and the NBA finals.
And it's like the only thing that's been going on in sports for the last week.
In a game on, I guess it was Sunday, Sunday.
I guess you could say it was a hard fail.
It was an upgrade to a flag.
She checked her.
I mean, this girl's getting killed.
Give me your thoughts on Kennedy Carter and Gatlin Clark.
I don't care that Kennedy Carter...
I play basketball most of my life.
I get hard fouls.
I'm all for it.
What I don't understand is...
The WNBA... Okay, let me start over because I feel like I'm going to miss my point.
No one cared about the WNBA. Now, then, and I hate saying this, Kobe Bryant passed.
I'm talking way back.
Kobe Bryant passed.
And it felt like there was a little bit of resurgence because he was fighting for it.
Because his daughter was coming up and Sabrina Ionescu was something impressive.
And all the women coming up, they were playing a better brand of basketball that we hadn't seen in a while.
No one's debating that those girls are talented and they can all hoop.
They can.
We've seen it.
Maya Moore might be the best female basketball player I've ever seen in my life.
Problem is that still no one cared.
And then Caitlin Clark comes on the scene and just starts blowing people away.
And for whatever reason, we're hooked on it.
We can't get off of it.
She's got the Steph Curry effect, where it feels like a drug, where the moment you see it happen, you need to see it again and again.
And as long as they keep impressing you, you will keep going and going and going and going.
So she goes off and because of her we're getting other names involved like Angel Reese and we're getting to see all this talent do a lot of great things.
And then towards the end of this season when everyone was talking about her like she was a god all the WNBA players came out of the woodwork and were like yeah she's good but and they kept saying but and they kept saying but she's gonna have a real reality check.
These are women who are getting a paycheck And they're fighting for their spot on a team.
And they haven't gotten the recognition they deserve.
Specifically, I'm talking about Diana Taurasi because she was not a fan.
It felt like.
I'm not saying she hates her.
I'm just saying she felt like she was a fan.
No.
Diana's probably the one that's been most outspoken.
But I get it because she was her and wasn't getting the recognition back then.
Okay?
She was.
She's, again, another person where you could watch her play all day.
Caitlin comes in and she's immediately checked by every team she plays.
First of all, they shouldn't have stuffed her in 11 games in like 10 days.
They just forced it down our throats.
I think that was part of it.
They should have taken some time, spread it out.
But these women are tired of hearing about her.
They don't want to hear about it.
They don't care.
They don't care that she's in the league.
They don't care that it's getting them charter flights.
What they do care about is that their name is not being put up in the same as hers and she's only been in the league for 11 games.
I totally understand that.
But now, because of this, and because she's getting checked by everybody, and those people happen to be black, we're going to talk about the race problem.
I hate it.
I just want to talk about basketball.
She got checked hard a couple of times, and I'm not saying they were intentional.
They were 100% intentional enough to let her know, you're not going to walk in here and drop 40 in my house.
And she's getting tossed and it sucks.
My problem is that her teammates aren't doing anything about it.
No, they're not.
Am I losing my mind?
No, no, no.
If you have the prodigal son sitting on your team, you take that other team.
I'm sorry.
You've got to do something about it.
Well, I'm glad you brought that up because that's kind of where I wanted to kind of go with this is that You know, they're checking her, not just because...
And you're right, they don't want to say, come on, you're not going to score 40 in our house.
But they're also trying to provoke a response, and they've not generated...
100%.
They have not generated a response.
That's why they keep doing it.
And that's why they keep doing it.
And look, she...
And I think that's what would frust...
When I try to...
When I was a kid and I tried to pick fights with somebody in a sporting event because somebody was mean to me or did this, I mean, you hate it when you do that, and then the other person responds the way they're supposed to respond.
Correct.
They don't retaliate, right?
I mean, because then you always get the flag because it's always the person that retaliates in football that gets the flag.
But if you don't retaliate, it might be the guy that starts it, and they're not getting a rise out of Caitlin Clark, and that makes her very different.
Right?
She's been real good about it, Chip.
Let's be honest.
She said a couple things and she's going to always talk her talk as well as she should.
And I really don't want to make this about the other players because I 100% understand their frustration.
I would be frustrated too if I worked my tail off for 10 years and all of a sudden they're just talking about somebody else.
I get it.
I get it.
My problem is that if she's coming in, she's making the league a lot of money.
A lot of money that you didn't have.
I'm not saying to totally embrace her.
You don't have to let her score on you 24-7.
She's gonna eventually.
She's gonna be great.
I'm not worried about that.
My issue is the jealousy is crazy, and I think there's jealousy probably on our own team because I haven't seen a single player come in and check.
Kennedy, is it Kennedy?
I'm sorry.
Kennedy Carter.
Kennedy Carter.
Is a dog.
She came in and she was like, this is my job.
Kaitlin's not getting this.
Whatever.
Somebody was...
The moment Kaitlin was knocked on the floor, and she did do a little flop, but the moment she was knocked on the floor, Kaitlin's teammate should have grabbed Chanity and tossed her.
Just straight, but nobody got in her face.
Her coach is doing nothing about it.
They're like, we're going to send stuff to the league.
No!
Say it in the press conference.
Take the fine.
Take the fine.
They find Chanity Carter.
How much did they find her?
$25?
I didn't even know they find her.
Yeah, I think they find her $25, which if that is the case, that's hilarious.
But also, I'm not sure that's the case.
It might have been a joke.
So I don't want to say that's the thing.
But I'm baffled by the fact that there is this entity in Caitlin Clark that is taking over the world.
And the reason it's taking over the world is, one, there's a massive gap in the NBA Finals.
But really, it's because...
It's become a race thing, and it sucks.
Pat Kennedy, I mean, Pat McAfee had to apologize yesterday because he's an idiot.
I love him, but the fact that he called her that, I'm sure you saw it, was so dumb.
He did it, and it wasn't a negative when he was saying it, but still, you gotta know you're on TV, buddy.
And it was also just a dumb thing to say, but that's taking over the news world, and it's mainly because the NBA decided...
We're going to think, hey, why couldn't they move the NBA Finals up?
Am I not understanding this?
Why couldn't they move them up?
I don't know.
The TV deal costs too much.
Yeah, and back to the race thing, too.
I mean, basketball, I think, is not a white sport.
Baseball is.
No, it hasn't been a white sport since 1964. That's right.
It's just not.
And so you have this athlete.
Coming out of college that has incredible talents, he's coming in.
I mean, we all saw this coming.
We all knew it was going to happen.
And the irony is what you just said.
The WNBA has never been a profitable league.
These owners don't make a profit off of owning these teams.
They don't.
I mean, they lose money.
It's a write-off for them, right?
And they, but you finally, what Caitlin Clark is doing that Shennady Carter has never done is one thing.
She's putting butts in seats.
Yeah.
Kayla Clark is putting butts in seats.
I mean, people don't show up to an NBA game to go watch Kennedy Carter play.
They just don't.
No.
And it's not an indictment on her.
It's got nothing to do with her.
The WNB has just never been a big butts in seats situation.
That's right.
And so the irony of all this is everybody says, oh, well, this is bad for the WNB. Are you kidding me?
This is phenomenal for the WNB. Yeah, it's not bad.
I heard Barkley say it was bad.
It's not bad at all.
Yeah, it's not bad at all.
It was fun to fill the void.
I will say, though, I listen to a lot of talk radio because I'm bored.
A lot.
And I was listening to a lot yesterday because I had a 12-hour ride.
People probably shouldn't get on the phone as often as they are on those things.
They're saying some wild stuff.
I'm listening to it and I'm like, buddy, I can hear the racism in your voice.
Just hang up.
Listen, I get it.
I get that there's a frustration.
But if I hear one more person talk about the Larry Bird Magic Johnson thing in a comparison with Angel Reese.
Yes.
Okay, please.
I get the comparisons.
They came in the league together.
All this stuff.
Larry Bird and Magic Johnson saved the league by themselves with the two of them saved the league.
Caitlin is saving the league.
I'm not sure Angel is, and I'm not saying she can't hoop.
I think that's the thing that people are bothered by.
Because if you mention Kaitlin, you're saying Angel can't play.
That's not it.
But here's what made interjecting Angel Reese's name into this conversation relevant is that Trinity Carter, after the game, did not answer a reporter's question about the foul on Kaitlin Clark.
She said, next question.
Which is...
I think she was probably told to do that.
I think that was good advice by whoever.
Probably very good advice.
She went to Twitter anyway.
But the next day she holds a press conference with her teammate Angel Reese.
It's almost like I have Angel here.
She's new too.
She just came into the league too and she's really good.
And so I'm going to have Angel here to kind of help me make my defense.
I think they're doing Angel dirty.
I think they're doing her a disservice because she's not the same player that Kaitlin is.
She's not the same excitement level, anything.
She gets down to the paint.
She's grimy.
So you're watching her and I don't know.
I think it's unfair to Angel too because I get why she's frustrated.
She's the darling of Instagram too.
People love her.
She's great.
She's good for the league.
They're both good for the league, but do not tell me that if Caitlyn wasn't coming in, we'd all be talking about Angel all the time.
We just wouldn't be.
And we wouldn't be.
And it is what it is.
It wouldn't be.
We don't have to stay on this forever, but I just get so frustrated because we don't have to tear someone down to lift somebody up.
We also don't have to destroy the person that might save what could be a 10-plus year career for you with real money this time.
That's right.
And you're getting all the off-court money, too.
Life is good.
Why make it complicated?
Why make it complicated?
Speaking of complicated, Game 1 of the Finals, this week we'll wrap up with this.
You know, usually by this time of year, and I'll be honest, I don't really follow the NBA really closely.
I'm a diehard, so I got you.
I enjoy it and I have fun.
You know, and I like watching Trey Young play.
I don't know that I'm going to get to watch that a whole lot.
No, no, he's going to be gone soon.
Don't you worry about that.
I think he's gone.
I think he's going somewhere.
But game one tonight, Mavericks and Celtics.
I'm looking forward to this final, man.
I really am.
Kyrie Irving, Luka Doncic.
It could be one of those.
I think, real quick, Chip, I'll let you go.
I think people are not as excited about this because of the time lapse.
I'm telling you right now.
Oh, I agree.
This is going to be...
One of the best in a long time.
The only thing is, and I want everyone to prepare, if this series is short, it is specifically because of one person, and his name is Christoph Porzingis.
I know that sounds insane.
They have no one to guard him.
And they have four other guys that can shoot it.
I'm telling you now, he's too big.
They're going to put a guard on him because he's going to sit out at the three-point line.
They're going to have space for Tatum and Jalen Brown to work.
Drew Holiday is going to find him, and then Derek White is going to do everything he does, which is fill up the stat sheet in ways no one can imagine.
But...
Dallas is the best player in the series.
I'm saying Celtics in seven.
I think it goes seven.
That was mine.
Mostly because I wanted to go seven.
We all do, bud.
We all do.
But I think, you know, look, Porzingis has not seen the court since the first round, right?
It's rough.
So, you know, how healthy is he?
But if there's a healthy Christophe Porzingis?
It might not be close.
Even if there's not a healthy Kristaps Przingis, it's still going to be hard to bet against Boston.
You're talking about the number two defense and the number one or two offense in the league?
There's a Dallas team that has come on strong because they have the best player.
That's right.
And we're going to talk about him and Luka Doncic and Jokic for the next five years as who's the best player in the league.
That's going to be a conversation.
And Dallas team kind of reminds me of some of LeBron's teams that he's had in the past where they just kind of sleepwalk through the regular season and they don't dominate.
But when they make it into the postseason, they get zoned in and they're tough to beat.
They're tough to beat.
James, what's your prediction on the series?
I got the Celtics in seven as well, but if you watch this series, the deciding factors will either be Christos Porzingis or The paint points for Dallas getting Derek Lively and Gafford.
Because those dudes, as long as Luka, if they can pull all their centers out, Luka's going to tear them apart and he's going to find it.
There's going to be like 50 lobs every game.
I'm telling you, that will be the deciding factor in the series.
But I think this is going to be a fun one.
And also, we've got kind of two coaches that no one's really sure about.
Because Jason Kidd's been pretty good.
And Joe Mazzula gets a lot of hate for reasons he picked up a team after a crazy scenario with their previous head coach.
So let's give him some credit.
And is this Mark Cuban's second trip to the finals as Mavericks?
Third.
Third trip.
Both six they lost, then they won an 11, and then another back here.
That's right.
I didn't remember if they'd made it before.
Yeah, Mark Cuban...
Been a while.
Been a while, but Mark Cuban took a franchise that was dead in the water.
I gotta say, that man, everything he touches is gold.
Yeah.
Oh, you're right.
And he just sold the team, and he's going to make money off it anyway.
But he kept, I think, a minority ownership, so he still gets to go have fun.
He's chilling.
He's good now.
And everything else.
He's going to Shark Tank the rest of his life.
It's great.
Well, James, I'll give you the last word before I go ahead and close up.
I appreciate everybody listening.
And as I said, Friday, Kip and Terry will be back.
Doug is out this week.
But he will be – our fearless leader will be back next week.
But go ahead and give us the last word.
On today's show.
If you're a gun owner, if you are a gun store owner and you see Hunter Biden walk in, just remember that he's on trucks.
You can't sell him a gun.
Even if you're not in the state of Delaware.
Even if you're not, especially if you're not in the state of Delaware.
And I'm going to end with this.
Since I can't be on the show on Friday, I've got an obligation I've got to be at.
I'm going to end with this.
But the Belmont Stakes, I know probably not a lot of listeners are horse racing enthusiasts, but the last leg of the Triple Crown is on Sunday in Saratoga, New York, the Belmont Stakes.
And I've got a tiny, tiny ownership piece.
It's Seize the Gray, who won the Preakness Stakes in Baltimore two weeks ago.
And I couldn't be happier for D-Wayne Lucas and Michael Behrens with my racehorse group.
How much money do I put on Seize the Gray?
Well, see...
What's he going on?
I'm going to say none.
I'm going to say none because none and here's why.
I don't ever, ever put money on interest that I have.
Like, I'm the biggest Auburn fan you'll know.
I never put money on Auburn football.
You know what?
That's a good thing.
I don't do it with the Vikings as much as I used to.
And that's the only reason I don't.
But I will say this.
She's the gray, loves a wet, sloppy track.
And the forecast for upstate New York for this weekend looks to be, you know, it's a good chance of some rain.
And so, you know, if that track is muddy or slippery or what they call sloppy, I really like the value and seize the greatest chances.
I'm not putting money in there because I feel like I'm jinxing my horse and my team.
Nope, totally understood.
So then I will hold back for now.
But I won't bet on it.
If anybody's listening to the podcast and they can tune in and also can tune in, Fox is handling the race, Fox Network, Fox Broadcast.
And my wife and I submitted a photo as an owner.
And so there's going to be a segment because it's a micro-share syndicate.
And there'll be a segment.
And yours truly might be on there.
So in any event, Get on that national TV stage, Chip.
That's right, for Fox on Sunday.
Excuse me, on Saturday, and I think post time is, I think it's 6.41.
So we'll be watching that.
I'm excited.
That's awesome.
Thanks for joining us, as always, our fearless leader, James.
And I hope everybody enjoyed themselves today.
And please listen in on Friday for Friday's Finest.
