| So it seems like everybody's trying to be an alpha male these days. | |
| Everybody's trying to hack the system with women. | |
| Figure out which behaviors to emulate. | |
| Which workout gives them a six-pack. | |
| All of that nonsense. | |
| What if I told you that the best solution really was to just be yourself? | |
| So if you don't know who I am, I've been there. | |
| So if you don't know who I am, I've been here since the beginning of the poorly and unfortunately named Manosphere. | |
| I've been there coming up with some of the core concepts, talking to all the old founders. | |
| And these days, when I look at it, when I look at MGTOW, when I look at whatever it is, good lord, is this what we gave birth to? | |
| I could defend what the original intention of it was, but that's really beside the point. | |
| What I see these days, what I see these days is a whole lot of guys that are pissing away their life energy and their life blood, pursuing goals that are completely unworthy of them. | |
| On the simplest level, here's what's going on. | |
| Bunch of guys who were never parented, raised in a broken culture, just holding on to the last bits of driftwood of culture that still remains. | |
| Going to university and having even that ripped away from them. | |
| These guys trying to grasp on to whatever it means to grow into a man. | |
| And as men, we are a very practical sex. | |
| We want to look at what gets results. | |
| But sometimes, getting results without knowing why you're getting results can be a fatal error. | |
| So you've got these kids running around trying to ape alpha male behavior. | |
| Trying to do the things that alpha males do that seems to work getting women. | |
| and the short term it works but here's here's the problem with that The problem with that is that, number one, it's a bad category. | |
| I'm sure you've seen the socio-sexual hierarchy. | |
| You've seen the breakdowns of all of that. | |
| And it's interesting. | |
| There's something to that. | |
| You can learn something about the way human beings interact with each other by studying that. | |
| But at the end of the day, you're a little bit more complex than a single category, aren't you? | |
| Second of all, while you're more complex than a category, most of these categories aren't that mutable. | |
| If you're an alpha male, you're an alpha male. | |
| Period. | |
| You're extroverted. | |
| You are intelligent, but not so intelligent you drive people away. | |
| You are gregarious. | |
| You like playing the social game, etc., etc. | |
| Maybe 5% of men are what would be called an alpha male. | |
| Maybe 5%. | |
| And if you're not part of that 5%, if temperamentally you are not part of that 5%, you're never going to be. | |
| And so you can go out and ape these behaviors, and you will get the sort of women that fall for a cheap plastic substitute. | |
| It's the equivalent of a woman watching makeup tutorials endlessly but never reading a book and wondering why she can't find a decent man. | |
| You know, I really look back and wonder just how much damage has been caused by all of these guys. | |
| All of these guys desperately trying to turn themselves into a plastic version of an alpha male. | |
| Because here's the thing. | |
| So women do like confidence. | |
| But, well, there's two ways to get confidence. | |
| One is to fake it. | |
| And if you fake it and you're successful, you'll be confident, but you're still no good. | |
| The other way, as a young man, is to dedicate yourself to learning, is to go find an older mentor figure, is to go find a boss and to do what he says. | |
| To get good. | |
| And when you're good, when you know you're good, you're confident. | |
| The irony is, the irony is that it's these people chasing the trappings of power that are always exposed as not having any of it. | |
| One thing goes wrong for them and the facade shatters. | |
| And they were never even a beta male. | |
| They were a gamma the entire time. | |
| And it looks like there's so many of these guys running around the internet these days, claiming to just be the toughest, smartest guy when they really don't know much, aside from how to fake it. | |
| So I guess the end of things, you can fake it till you make it, or you can make it so you don't have to fake it. | |
| You can become yourself. | |
| You can develop yourself. | |
| You can learn. | |
| You can be humble. | |
| You can be the beta male for a little bit to figure out how to be the best version of yourself. | |
| Or, you could put on a top hat and a pink boa. | |
| Up to you, kid. | |
