| So, anything going on with the news recently? | |
| I haven't been keeping up. | |
| This will be an interesting one. | |
| I spent Friday reading a lot of stories, mostly focused around Maha because that's consumed my attention in recent weeks. | |
| And every time I tried to weigh out one story and figure out an angle to present something for this bonus episode, it just seemed so overwhelming. | |
| And I think that's by design. | |
| We've often talked about the rhetorical technique of Gish Gallup. | |
| And it's something that Steve Bannon was talking about back in 2015, about flooding the zone, making things so confusing you don't even have an entry point. | |
| You don't know where to begin. | |
| And then this morning, I woke up and I knew I was going to record this bonus. | |
| It is the day before it's being released. | |
| So it's Sunday right now. | |
| I woke up to the photo of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. | |
| on a plane with Donald Trump and Jr. | |
| and Elon Musk and Mike Johnson. | |
| They're all eating McDonald's and they're all smiling. | |
| Bobby has a Coca-Cola next to him right there. | |
| I post the photo on social media. | |
| It went how you would expect on our feed with people who have understood that Maha is at heart a hypocritical movement. | |
| And that doesn't mean that there aren't good ideas within it. | |
| I've expressed them many times. | |
| But overall, the idea that you're going to regulate all of these things in a deregulatory administration that is very focused on business interests Both hamstrings your ability to actually regulate, but also makes all the things that you say you're going to regulate, like DTC, pharma, advertising, so direct-to-consumers, or... | |
| Ending pharma lobbying when your party is benefiting even greater than the Democrats from pharma lobbying. | |
| It just shows the hypocrisy. | |
| It exposes it. | |
| And the photo really does that. | |
| And then you go over to someone like Bulletproof founder Dave Asprey's feed where he actually tries to say, well, it's really hard when you travel to find good food. | |
| Yeah. | |
| Because these men were traveling I think from Florida to wherever the UFC fight was. | |
| Yeah, it's a food desert there when you're a millionaire. | |
| So I want to do something a little bit different today because we've covered so much Maha and we're going to be covering more of it and more of all of the things that we cover. | |
| We have an Opus Dei episode coming up this week. | |
| I'm focusing a bit on some Christian nationalism because I think that's a very relevant piece that needs to be turned over again and again to understand how Donald Trump just won the election. | |
| And so today I want to talk a little bit more personally, kind of like I did on the last episode about corporal punishment. | |
| I also want to say that I'm a bit heartbroken today. | |
| I woke up to some unexpected news that my best friend's dog, who I often post on my own social media feed because my wife and I don't have our dog yet, Her name was Nanook. | |
| She went into cardiac arrest last night after a GI issue. | |
| It was all very sudden. | |
| And they revived her but couldn't get her to breathe on her own. | |
| She was, I think, three years old. | |
| Just wonderful husky. | |
| The love of my life in terms of dogs. | |
| So if my energy seems a little bit down today, I will admit that is why I was going to record this a couple hours ago and that when I got the text, I've just been... | |
| A bit of a mess. | |
| But, hey, that actually kind of tracks for the state of our nation right now. | |
| So, as I said, what I really want to focus on here is why I care so much about health. | |
| Because there is an origin story. | |
| There are reasons that I've sort of pursued this. | |
| And I want to share a little bit of my own experiences in the healthcare industry. | |
| And just explain why it became the focus of my career. | |
| So with that said, like last time, a couple weeks ago on the bonus episode, a little bit looser. | |
