This is a short break-the-fourth-wall reflection on why I'm starting up a new regular series for our main feed starting in September.
The series will be called the Conspirituality Relief Project and it's basically my attempt to provide regular timeline cleanser interviews in which super interesting guests reflect on hope, faith,
resilience, and building community in hard times. You know, all of the things that conspirituality
itself promises to do but can't or won't. I got this idea in the midst of one of many very
low points, I think for me personally, but also for a lot of other people as well. I think it was
back in early July, I hit a real wall, but that was after running in concrete shoes for months it
seemed.
It's a good thing I'm not a doctor.
It looked like Trump had the election locked up, and that if Biden were to stay in out of egotism and stubbornness, the bitter recrimination against his handlers who hid his condition and the party leadership that couldn't or wouldn't bump him out would rip the Democrats apart even further.
Now Trump may still pull it off, given the chaos of swing state and electoral college math.
But he has mysteriously halted campaigning, and he's sounding more unhinged every day, which is its own problem.
The Harris switch-out has some momentum.
Tim Walz feels really good.
But we know that Trump has rigged the Supreme Court, and when he falsely challenges results, they might extend immunity to him as the former president contesting the present office.
Protests against the inevitable false claims of electoral fraud will be met with police brutality, and we know that Project 2025 ghouls might be muzzled for now, but their policies are still out there, ready for deployment.
We know that the Chevron decision will degrade the entire regulatory apparatus of the Republic, and that's just in the U.S.
Here, where I am in Canada, we have surging and converging right-wing movements threatening to wipe out a moribund centrist balance of power.
Across Europe, neo-fascists are making electoral gains and white nationalists are openly rioting in the UK, trying to literally burn refugee housing to the ground after locking the brown people in.
As I'm writing this, video clips show lynch mobs running at will and no visible police presence, destroying high street businesses owned by Muslim citizens for decades.
These owners give interviews saying, we can't stay here now.
The anti-fascist organizers I know are all updating and posting their street defense manuals.
They're also preparing members for police retaliation.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk cheers on the chaos to benefit engagement.
There are bright spots, like watching the French left converge to rout Marine Le Pen, and watching tens of thousands of leftist scousers march through Liverpool to tell the white supremacist thugs to never show their faces again.
